China City in East Riding of Yorkshire

Have used this Takaway for a long time. Last food order i had to take home was cold. Tonight I said about cold food, they said they would sort it this time yes a little better. But the egg fried rice was cold stodgy and no egg in it. I am sorry I will not be going back.

Granddaughters 9th birthday..... Her choice.. Its was all lovely. Staff excellent... Even put decorations up... not been for years but had takeaways and alwayd been good. Worth a vist!

We have used this takeaway for years but recently it has not been up to standard. Last night was the last time we will use them. Order our takeaway 1 hour in advance, 15 mins after it should have arrived we telephoned to be told it would be another 30 minutes sorry not good enough. If you were so busy and couldn’t meet our time you should have told us. Honesty is the best policy we could accept that.

Never turned up ho I can string this review for a 100 letters when I didn't get anything delivered after ordering and rining up after 3 hrs asked what was happening and they didn't know I got no food and not even a sorry

Just been for a Chinese meal at China City ...the staff were so friendly and couldnt do even for you ...the food was delicious...perfectly cooked ...beautiful presentation...cant say a bad word about it ...it was excellent ...food staff its a 10 from us ...definitely will be returning ...thank you all

Just ordered a delivery for the first time from this place. Food arrived quickly, it was hot and very tasty. I also think it was good value for money, especially the hot platter starter.

Food was very good and tasty, all came out hot. Service was disappointing though, staff not great at all. We visited here as a group of 14 for a birthday meal. We arrived a little early and were waiting on the last few people arriving, one member of staff came three times in a less than 10 minute period to ask if we were all ready to order yet even though there were still empty seats and we kept informing him we were still waiting on people. Staff did not seem to know about the food, we asked several questions and got passed about between 3 people before someone was finally able to answer the queries we had on food items. Food came out but not all, we were still waiting on some for quite a while after the rest. Then when the mains came there were several wrong items which arrived and had to go back. Food quality was good and it was all very tasty. Staff trying to clear table before people had finished and even glasses which still had drinks in were taken. One waitress who seemed to drop and spill everything was a liability. Dropping cutlery on people and spilling coffee as she was putting the cups down, in need of more training. Overall staff just did not seem friendly or helpful, and seemed like they wanted rid of you before you were even sat down. Would recommend this place for food, so maybe takeaway if they do, but would not recommend eating in the restaurant with the staff.

Amazing services, nice and friendly, lovely food definitely worth money I'll be definitely going again to China city, The young lady what severed us she was lovely with nice smile, she was definitely down to earth , and really well Managed the manger should be really proud to have her can't fault this place amazing food & staff the food didn't take long to cook

We had a take away beef and tomato enjoyed every mouth full but chips could do with attention though. Very friendly staff and the restaurant looks brilliant. We shall be calling again in the near future.

Excellent food can't fault it, customer service shocking. Two members of staff working one male stood at a table and one female stood at an other, already had 2 tables in when we got there, we had to wait for one of them to be free to take our order but by then the phone rung and the male staff never moved. The female had to leave her table to answer the phone then when she finished she took our order after apologizing for the long wait but she was very pleasant and really friendly, then she returned to her table to finish what she was doing. Whilst we was waiting for our food the other tables food arrived and the male staff member never moved and made the female staff member fetch their food over while he was stood talking to them for over 20 minutes while they were trying to eat ( sorry but in my eyes you don't do that as it's disrespectful ). The poor lass was running around taking orders be it table, members of public of the street or telephone whilst the male member of staff carried on talking to the customers at the table. Then he left them alone only to return 5 mins later and left his colleague to do everything yet again. When our food was ready to collect we complained to the female staff about our wait who was very apologetic and I felt sorry for her having to work with him for the rest of her shift. I hope the manager is very grateful to have a member of staff like her but as for the male staff member I think he needs a good talking to as to what a team actually means because I don't think he has any idea.

Food was lovely.Hats off to the chef. Service appalling, girls couldn't even take a drinks order properly on the ipad. Apparently we wanted Slime and soda and Vodkagin......laughable. Too many things to write about.!

After having a drink in a local pub, we were looking for somewhere to eat and decided on China City. The young man standing by the bar looked like he was surprised we were there. He left shortly after we arrived, so I presume his shift had ended. There were 6 of us so it would be a good bill for them. We were served by 2 young ladies (I use that term very loosely). To be honest they seemed pretty clueless, the first one took our drinks order, then the second one came and asked us to clarify what we were having as the first waitress had got confused! It was 6 drinks! She took it again and when my cousins wife asked for a gin and tonic she said “Do you mean Vodka?” Then she started swearing and getting annoyed as she said the other girl had messed the order up! She seemed confused and said “Vodka gin?” So we repeated “Gin and tonic” then the other girl came back and said “We’ve only got Gordon’s is that ok?” When they finally - after 30 minutes brought the drinks the gin tasted like a flavoured one - it looked slightly pink. We decided it wasn’t worth trying to change it. Next we ordered the food, which seemed to go better, but by this time we were starving and wondering whether it had been a good idea to eat here! Fortunately the food was great, everyone was happy with their meals and we laughed about the service. As a former waitress in a Chinese restaurant I was shocked at the poor service, if sworn in front of customers like that I would have been sacked! I can’t believe they didn’t know what a Gin and Tonic was. It truly was like a comedy sketch. Thank goodness for the food! I doubt we will be returning, unless they get some decent waiting staff.

We ordered a take away and never again, the onions rings looked like they had done a shift in a pit they were that burnt, the salt n pepper chips were as dry as a nuns crutch along with being fried more than once, they were stale and you couldn't have got any less salt n pepper if they tried....the Singapore noodles were stuck like a noodle block in the plastic container and the chilli King prawn dish well if the prawns were still alive and kicking they would have been swimming around in the murky water they were served in...I think the entire flavours of this order was left in the wok because I bet ghandis flip flop had more taste....the entire order found its way into the kitchen bin...

From the moment we walked in the door we were rudely greet by the lady (I believe her name was Lorraine) She then asked us where we like to sit and we said by the window instead we were seated right next to the bar and toilet. That wasn’t such a big issue, we shrugged it off and when she came to take our order she walked away mid order and just left some other guy to take order. The guy seemed like he was drunk and when we asked for a house white wine he joked not even knowing what this was… we were impressed. We then asked had the woman already taken part of our order or do we need to say what it was.. he laughed it off and was like she’s worked here for ages so again we just ignored it and continued to order. When our food arrived I believe the manager Danny took over he was very polite, the food tasted bland unfortunately but wasn’t bad overall. Unfortunately the service massively let it down. The price overall wasn’t bad but unfortunately for our experience it was not enjoyable.

This is definitely one to try. Danny the manager is so welcoming and always helpful. We shared a hot platter and had a crispy chicken in ok sauce and a chicken curry. The food has been consistently excellent. Daniel the waiter needs a mention as he is very cheerful and helpfull well done.

Ordered food online to be told delivered at 18.40. Phoned at 19.20 to be told it’s busy and delivery driver has nine deliveries. No real apology but it’ll be there in about 20 mins ish. Asked for money back and still no real apology. Will...

My husband and I think this restaurant is underrated, we have never had a bad meal in there or a bad takeaway.

We have used China City for delivery/take away and the food is consistently excellent. So with family visiting we decided to book and go to the restaurant. This, unfortunately, was a very poor experience. Lack of organisation of staff, poorly trained, little or no knowledge...

Ordered take out, and delivery. For the second time, some of order missing. Very dissatisfied. Not got refund. Won’t be using again.

Why is the meat content getting smaller and smaller? Last Saturday was the final straw ...£30 for a take away with half the content of meat yet I’ve still paid full price . The management can’t say it’s a one off because the meat content has been declining in the recent months and it’s lead to me ( a loyal China city customer over the years ) leaving a negative review and feeling apathetically about ever returning .

Our takeaway was very disappointing. Half the amount of duck compared to usual, mixed meat dish was also extremely disappointing (very little meat ) . Hopefully the staff will read the review and revert back to the good quality meals we expect from this takeaway.

Just been to china city Bridlington, don't visit! Brought us wrong drink's then another customer distracted us telling my husbands coat was been rained on by leek in window by rain!!! We have been going to this restaurant for 28 years...We frequented China City on specialOccasions or for a treat..We went to celebrate my Dads retirement...it soon became apparent that it had changed hands...first customers in and there was food under a few tables...staff had Jean type trousers on, not the usual impeccable and pristine attire of the previous owners and staff..We ordered our food and it was read out to us to make sure correct...my partner ordered a main course and asked for a side dish of rice...the plates came out and were wiped with a strained kitchen tea towel...our mains came and all ok, could have been a bit warmer...We had our food and paid the bill... I realised when we had got home that we had been overcharged the side dish that my partner had ordered to go with his main course had been charged as a main course...I phoned up to be told that they do not do this item as a side dish I asked why not when it came as a side dish portion in a side dish and why didn’t they tell us this when the reread the order back to us...I repeated again that we had been charged for a main course price only to be told the same thing...the person on the phone was very uninterested...I then said we won’t be returning and they just said ok goodbye!The previous owner was always immaculate, the food and service was always fantastic...what a shame...always relied on them for a fab meal and service ...will never go back!Very disappointing!

As Brid residents, we take family there whenever they visit and have done so for the last 15 years, watching the quality deteriorating over that period. Last night was the last straw. Arrived for an early 6.30 meal, two other tables occupied. Due to medication, I ordered a non alcohol beer off the drinks menu. Hadn't got any. Saturday night! Had all day to get some in. No prawn crackers offered. Ordered platter starter with duck pancakes to follow. Both arrived together. Duck was dry and overcooked but luke warm. Fire alarm went off 5 times. Each time, chef dashed out of kitchen to sort. Told they'd been having problems with it. Each time, I had to leave my seat so chef could get to alarm cupboard behind me. Staffs' apologies were perfunctory at most. Why put us there? Mains served, food tasty but only warm. Hot plates had had time to cool down. Not asked if we wanted dessert or coffee but quick to ask if we wanted the bill. Only too glad to leave. Prices are exorbitant and all in all reflected a restaurant that is, sadly, on its way down. We're not going back!

This was our 4th visit and what a shame as the starters came really quick then it went down hill from their, we waited over an hour for our mains and one of the meals was stone cold the others were just warm so they must of been just stood their , the cold meal was sent back but never came back? Shame as the over worked staff are really nice , Dont think il be back

5 of us eat the all you can eat option. Everything we had was well cooked and the portion sizes were very good. Superb value for money at less than £100 for five including drinks.

We went as a family of seven. One starter was missing. For the prices charged we would have expected some of the basics, like finger bowl, and complimentary crackers, which we didn't get. A starter of mini rolls had no dip, we waited over an hour for the starters, the main meals weren't hot, just warm. They seemed more geared up for takeaways which were trotted out constantly for delivery and collection. NOT a sit down restaurant. Definitely NOT going back. Very poor.

Went in as we were unable to get food at a pub we read about online. We were not disappointed. Meal for 1 with extra portion of rice and prawn crackers do the job. Great service, very polite staff, made to feel very welcome. Thank you

We asked for 1 curry as mild as possible and it was exactly the same as my partners spicy version. Arrived cold, the spring rolls had raw bits throughout and were stone cold in the middle, to top it all off we paid extortionate prices for something we could have gotten for half the price elsewhere.

We went here for the all you can eat buffet it was fantastic, you order two starters at a time, smaller than a normal serving here, but just enough as you can try more my friends the four of us, had six starters each, one of them duck as your only allowed to order this once, they were all really tasty. We then had a main each with rice and salt and pepper chips, all great, we could have had more but were all full. The drinks are reasonably price too. The offer is on Sunday to Thursday from five o clock.

5 off us booked here and had all you can eat. The service was first class as a previous poster put the food was sometimes slow at arriving however we were warned of this and to be honest expected it with how busy it was.

We ordered two lemon chicken and sides which were horrid. No sauce and rice dry and tasted chard. Chow mein revolting and spare ribs full of fat rather than meat. Our first time ordering from China City thinking food would be restraunt quality as advertised! If you order from this establishment do so at your own peril. However everybody's tastes are different but if you enjoy eating rubbish and wasting your hard earned cash then by all means order from here. We shall not. Very dissatisfied China City. Not fair!Not fair at all!

We called here with friends after hearing about the all you could eat can’t fault a thing friendly staff excellent food . Yes you order each course as you go along but that gives you time to digest we didn’t have to wait that long though. Excellent value for money drinks no more expensive than other restaurants we will definitely go again .

OK food. All you can eat but slow service as you have to order each dish one at a time. So bored rather than full. Got fed up of waiting. Be careful with drinks. £3.70 for 2 glasses of soda water. Same price as lager. So for that unfortunately won't be returning..

Saw this place by chance when visiting the old town and decided to go back in the evening for a meal. Was really nice fresh hot food. Restaurant was clean with a friendly atmosphere. Food arrived swiftly and waiting staff were all pleasant. Specials menu is half price Monday to Thursday and I would recommend something off here as it does make you go out of your comfort zone if you usually order the same thing. Our children really enjoyed the experience we will be back.

We hadn`t been back to this restaurant since it changed hands, so it was with trepidation that we decided to go as the latest reviews had been rubbish. To our relief, it turns out the chefs have stayed, and the food was just as nice as always (though the black bean sauce was a little too salty for my taste.) This will definitely be staying on our list of favourites.

The service from the waitress was terrible, no other tables in and couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge us. Eventually told us to take a seat but didn’t bother to bring any menus. Toilets need a good clean!would not recommended or return.

Ordered a takeaway this evening the person taking the order was not sure of where things where on the till as they are under new management we are vegans and ordered what we wanted minus what we did not want in the dishes we also ordered 2 portions of vegetable spring rolls . When we started to eat these there was meat in them. I called China City straightaway and they said the chefs cooked spring rolls and said the next time we order they would reimburse us, I asked for these to be sent out to us and the reply was we are busy with other orders and would wait a couple of hours.

Just been for a meal and a catch up with a friend although the food was of good quality and tasted great apart from my friends sweet and sour pork being cold the service was extremely slow for an empty restaurant with only 1 other table it’s as though they seem to care more about the takeaway side of things and leaves the service to restaurant customers some what lacking very slow meals coming out a very long wait between courses and the toilets are very dirty not a great first impression unsure if I will return unless they can speed things up a bit and pay more attention to the people dining inn rather than all the attention to the takeaway

We were the only people in and though the food tasted good both of our meals were barely warm. Spoilt the experience.

4 of us went on Friday night and couldn’t of felt more comfortable, the restaurant was spotless, the staff couldn’t of been more helpful and the food was delicious.

we went to china city on saturday night really looking forward to having some nice food after been to the nutcracker at the spa we usually go to the indian a few doors down called indian palace which is brilliant but thought we would have a change well we all know what thought did dont we !!! we ordered 2 starters prawn toast and ribs in capital sauce what a disapointment hardly any sauceon them and i have never had such small ribs every then the main meals well hardly any sauce on again i can honestly say it was the worst chinese i have every had next time we are in brid we will be going back to the indian next door

Two for a quick dinner, we where running late for the motor auction. The staff are quick to oblige and brought out the two mains and four sides very quickly.

After being disappointed with the Indian curry in the Bridlington area we decided to try China City fo a change The waitress was very polite & the meals arrived in a timely manner. Food was very nice so I would return if in the area.

Great food with good service, the phone orders are taken efficiently and ready for collection when they say they are so no long waits. The food is excellent ,well cooked and very tasty .

Brilliant and quick. Restaurant quality but at home. I had the pork curry and it was as good as ever. Not a lot more that I need to add as this in my eyes is the best in Bridlington so well done thanks and I’ll be back soon

We dropped in without a reservation and there were plenty of tables available on a Saturday evening. The service was polite and prompt and the food hot and fresh. The food menu was average priced but we felt the drinks were a little expensive. No complaints about the food overall but I wouldn't say that we would go out of our way to visit again. We were sat by the window and the windowsill was dirty which was a little off putting but the table itself was clean

Visited China City tonight for our last meal of the holiday and we very impressed. We both had appetisers to share and i can honestly say this served the best spring rolls I’ve ever tasted, lovely and light, packed full of vegetables and piping hot . Prawn toast with sesame was lovely too. We both had amazing Chinese omelette with different filling , amazingly fluffy and light and again packed with Chinese vegetables and king prawns in one and mushrooms in the other. I was far too full for desserts but husband had toffee banana which he enjoyed . Finished with coffee it was a great meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend and if ever over this way we would return .

Didn’t have a long wait from ordering to eating . As always this place is still one of the best in Bridlington and I’ll be going back. The food was well presented, well prepared and really tasty. Kung poo and chicken chow main, ribs plus salt and pepper chips. A fare price for quality food and plenty of it. Friendly delivery driver to so a big well done

I ordered food from the restaurant to get 2 seperate hairs in different parts of the order , I then rang the restaurant and they wasn’t apologetic and put the blame on me saying it was one of my own. Horrible customer service and rubbish quality food.

Whilst I have been staying and working in Bridlington this is one of the best places for me to have my evening meal = tea (not dinner cos that's midday). Excellent choice of non meat meals, such as such and veggie stuff, very tasty and good friendly service. I go every week.

Not as good as I’d anticipated. Food was just warm. Small portions for the price. Only got 4 small bits of prawn toast in a portion compared to usual price of 8.

Ordered my Takeaway last night, called in for collection. Food was perfect, great value for money, nothing wasted. This is by far the best Chinese takeaway in Bridlington.

You know what? I enjoyed my Chinese take away from here. No probs on the the phone order. Delivered quickly and everything delivered that I ordered. Enjoyed it all 😊 plus enough left over for breakfast 👍😊

Six of us dined on a Saturday evening, we did book but not sure if you need to. The restaurant soon filled up so is obviously popular locally. Staff were friendly and lovely, food was gorgeous.

This was our first visit to China City. We ordered the set meal for two, option B, the slightly-more-expensive option. All the food was of good quality. Service was friendly and courteous. We went early on in the evening opening, just before 6.00pm. We were the only seated diners during our stay, though others came and went for the takeaway options.

On a recent break to Yorkshire we stayed near Bridlington and our group came upon this restaurant. We were made to feel very welcome, service was very good and the staff very attentive. The icing on the cake was the food itself! Extremely good and very tasty!! China City is also a very busy take away so that has to be a bonus. If you are that way, please visit for great food.

We called here after being unable to get a table at Yips so not our first choice. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the food.

Nos tomó un tiempo llegar a nuestra orden de bebidas tomadas. El primer plato fue la mejor parte para mi novio pero para mí era frío en el interior. Los platos principales pollo chow principal y chili con pollo el pollo era horrible en mi chili con pollo cocinado así elegido estaba bajo la mayoría de. Tanto las salsas en los platos era lo que sólo podía describir como glooply. Yo solía ir mucho y me encantó estaba tan emocionado cuando mi novio dijo que este era el lugar donde él estaba tomando conmigo. Me quedé muy decepcionado nunca iré allí de nuevo.

We were staying locally and did not want to walk into the town we thought we would give it a go, we were not disappointed this place is very good value for money and the food is absolutely excellent served quickly and hot, by very friendly staff. We can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Our first time and last time to China city. I personally have eaten so many different Chinese food from Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, China and England. I do not like when the waitress asking too much of personal question. Is it the curiosity because I am the same colour as her or whatever but it just so insulting. The food was terrible. It is very concerning for us as we we were the only two people who sat in the restaurant. Hmmmm where is all the other customers and even the phone wasn't, ringing that many times. Lesson learned here but yay I am back to give more reviews. Sorry for the long long delay.

Best china food in town. So delicouse. I order take away few times every time was fantastic and tasty food.

Just been hear for a meal and it wasnt great at all. The meal came out quicker than our drinks did what flagged up concerns. I had a chicken curry the chicken was slimy was horrible when it came out it wasnt piping hot and my sauce had a skin on definitely microwaved.My bosses curry sauce also had a skin on.The duck looks like one of them oven ones.The drinks were flat asked to change all drinks were flat.Wouldn't go hear ever again and would advise to everyone not to get a chicken curry as that was microwaved and the chicken was and looked horrible. I never leave bad reviews at all but this i had to. Just strange how it took 15 mins for the drinks but no longer than 5 for the meal its not fresh its yesterday's food. You pay good prices for fresh cooked food not worth the money

I came here with my partner sister in law and son and the food was fantastic the staff were great aswell and the restaurant is clean and presentable. Well worth a visit I will definitely be visiting again soon.

Always get delivered takeaways from China City for the past year and not once have they disappointed. Food is always hot when it arrives, never forget items and food is delicious. The people who deliver are super friendly and never miserable, highly recommend to anyone!

Stopped here one evening for dinner. Service very good and food arrived fast. Food seemed a little expensive for the style of the restaurant, but when it arrived we could see and taste we were getting good value for money. Very well cooked dishes using quality ingredients. The only negative would be the lighting, which is far to harsh and removes all ambience. With lower lights and a few candles, the place would improve considerably. Food was excellent though, which is the main thing.

First time we have tried this for a takeaway and we were very pleased indeed. We collected the food which was excellent and the staff were really helpful and pleasant . The restaurant looked very nice so we will be going back to have a meal there and if it's as good as the takeaway it will be very good indeed.

Had a family meal here for my daughters birthday and it was ok service was good and the food was all well cooked and presented thought it was a little on the expensive side which is why I haven't given it a five ..

We have visited this Chinese Restaurant on a number of occasions and have always been very pleased with the food and good value for money. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and as with most Chinese Restaurants are very quick and efficient. We have never had to book and there has always been plenty of room, although we do tend to eat early evening. Parking can be a bit of a problem as there is no car park only roadside parking.

The food was excellent. I would especially recommend the OK spare ribs, which were far better than OK :D The staff were friendly, and the restaurant is spacious and attractive. We've had take aways from them before - always good food. But this was the first time we've eaten in. It won't be the last.

The welcome was friendly, not the best decor in a restaurant although I assume they will be renovating soon as there was a pile of flooring in the corner!The service was on the slower side however, a couple came in after us and had 2 courses, finished and paid by the time we had finished our starters!The food was tasty, if slightly different for instance the spring roll starter was one big roll, the curried dumplings were samosas!On the whole the food was tasty and reasonably priced.

Lovely evening meal out,situated in the old town of Bridlington this restaurant has plenty of room for family's and parties as well as going out as a couple. The food is excellent and the service is always superb. Situated next to pubs should you wish to go for a few drinks afterwards. Wheelchair friendly and child friendly.

Came on a Thursday night knowing the service would be faster than a busy weekend. We weren't harrased by the staff, plenty of time between course, which is good as the food was plentiful. Wife had house wine which tasted better than cheap plonk. Prices I thought were correct for eating in a restaurant.

We have always avoided China City in the past, as it doesn't look that attractive from the outside, but it is actually much nicer inside. We went in on a quiet Sunday night. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. The food was absolutely standard Chinese restaurant fare, but served nicely and arrived in good time. Good for a reliable, if predictable, meal, but sometimes that's what you want. Mushroom foo yung particularly good.
