Visited mid week (9th Aug) to grab a takeaway, before I’d even stepped foot inside the shop a black B Class Mercedes drew up directly outside, boot opened and the driver pulled out a large clear bag (size of a bin bag) of raw chicken legs & thighs literally dripping/ leaking with blood and other raw chicken liquids (sorry). The boot liner was awash with leakage from the bag - no refrigeration in sight. The stuff of nightmares. A man appeared at the shop door (a chef?) in filthy clothes, the bag was carried across the pavement, up the steps, into the shop with a trail of chicken blood and raw liquid leaking everywhere - unbelievable. Further food and stock for the shop was retrieved from the contaminated car boot, whilst empty trays & boxes were put back into the car. Plus there were kids in the back seats! I have never seen so many hygiene contraventions so blatantly and so openly revealed in full view. Disgusting, frightening, unacceptable, dangerous. I attempted to speak to the person behind the counter to ask that they at least disinfect the shop floor and outside area but they ignored me!!! Avoid at all costs - I did, and have contacted Environmental Health. I like to support local business in Settle but not at any cost.

Nice and friendly staff - fast service - very nice food - certainly recommend. Wide range of food so plenty of reason to give the place a try

We have been 3 times now and every time it’s been great. We were initially reluctant due to the mixed reviews but I would encourage you to ignore the negative ones and give it a go! You won’t regret it!

Not the best, prawn crackers tasted of washing up liquid, chips not cooked, beef ok, chicken tasteless and was also a funny taste, had much better and will not return in a hurry

Not been for a while as the food was awful every time we went. Did not disappoint this time either, the satay pork has to be some of the worse food I’ve had from there. The pork was chewy and the noddles dry. The lot went in the bin. I was ill all the next day, avoid at all costs !

When you've been out drinking in Skipton, and you live in Hellifield, and you fall asleep on the train, it is always handy when somebody wakes you up at Settle. That way, you get to go looking for a takeaway in Settle while the Hellifield train comes, rather than go looking for a cheap hotel in Carlisle. Out of the two options, this place won hands down.

Ordered chicken chow mein and curry sauce. Curry sauce was fine. Chow mein was not right at all. Watery, tasteless, no flavour and worst still. The noodles were the same as bachelor super noodles. Not proper chow mein noodles.

Checked on the website for opening times , went when they stated they were , NO , travelled 12 miles to find it closed despite a handwritten notice on the door it opened at 5pm , there were 3 separate people waiting outside , we all rang and could hear it ringing inside but nothing !! waste of my time and fuel

We have just finished our EXCELLENT meal from here. We had Special in ok sauce Boiled rice Special curry Fried rice Noodles Prawn crackers Absolutely delicious Service excellent Good value WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE One of the best tasting Chinese meals I have had in a long time

I wish I didn't have to write this as a local person but I will no longer be using this Chinese. Gradually over the years the food has got worse and worse and now it has got to the stage it is making people ill. The last time we ate from here my son had to throw his salt and pepper chips and chicken away. This time he ate it but has been up ill all night and is still ill now. Would be nice to have a decent chinese takeaway in a small town.

0/10 chicken balls were very oily tasted horrid also had salt and pepper chips soggy and black and green chips had bbq spare ribs didn't dare try them so can't comment but smelt like dead unfresh meat probably dog,rice was defo reheated was rubberish and tasteless, curry sause tastes like oil sweet and sour tasted like toxic soap, don't waste ya money here.

I had to write a review for our new local Chinese as it has had so many damning reviews, I would hate for them to loose business. I’m new to the area and had a takeaway on our first night here in June & again last week, both times we had a variety of dishes, thoroughly enjoyed the food and had no complaints & I don’t eat rubbish. I just don’t understand the bad reviews? Given free prawn crackers on both occasions 😁

My girlfriend had a beef chow mien from here and salt and pepper chips. (We were visiting for two nights in Settle) She woke up in the late night/early morning and threw up the whole night and then again the next day. We spoke to some locals and they all told us that they had also been really ill from eating here. We just wish that we’d have spoke to them first! I hate to leave bad reviews but seeing her like she was makes me want to warn others because it was not nice and has ended our trip sooner. (Sydney’s is brilliant and so is the golden lion)

I'd read a few reviews on here which weren't very good but one night I was craving chinese food so bad that we decided we'd give it a try because this chinese takeaway is the only one around here for miles. It was horrendous! And how on earth they have stayed in business for all these years, I really have no idea! I thought you can't go wrong with chicken chow mein, so I ordered that and my partner ordered a chicken curry. We both had chips and I had a pot of barbecue sauce with it. It was when I opened my food up that I realised we should have listened to the reviews and not gone there! The noodles weren't the usual kind you get in a chow mein and it was a case of 'spot the chicken'. There was some horrid gloopy clear liquid that the noodles were swimming in. No idea what it was it certainly didn't look appetizing. The chow mein was terrible. It had no flavour (unlike a usual chinese chow mein) and just tasted like noodles cooked in water! The chips that weren't all crispy and scraggly bits (which only made up about 10% of the bag) were actually very nice and the barbecue sauce was nice also but that chow mein! My partner said his curry was edible but not as nice as other takeaways.Definitely won't be going back until they change hands. Now have to travel miles away when we want a chinese. If this had been my first try of chinese food, I would have been put off chinese food for life. A bland english dish like egg and chips had more flavour than the chow mein. And if they can't get that right, I certainly don't see how they're going to have any other flavoursome dishes. The only good thing about this place was the young girl who served us was very polite.

Lovely takeaway twice since lock down. All 3 meals were as usual and polished off straight away! Chicken fried rice, chicken in yellow bean sauce, spring rolls, sauces, chips and the free crackers. Always enjoy!

I lived in settle 10 years ago and this place wasn’t good then, I went in tonight and it has got worse and I don’t get how that is possible! Meat was awfully chewy, sauce was tasteless and like water. Awful

Is OK but only because there is no competition poor quality generally, Only use if you are not prepared to travel

After avoiding for a while I've been back a couple of times recently and rather enjoyed it. Good ribs, generous portion of duck with pancakes, the main dishes were also ok. It's not spectacular but quite acceptable. V quick, friendly service too. Look forward to going again.

Although the food was warm and on time when I got it home it was disgusting. The chicken balls smelt funny, the salt and pepper ribs were scratty pieces of bone which I gave to the dogs and the chow mien was absolutely foul, Dry and had an awful bitter taste. Never again. The worst chinese I’ve ever had

This is a very standard Chinese takeaway. I would say that it is replicated up and down the land. Reasonable value, quality is fine and very standard, very friendly service

We had a take away on a Saturday night, whilst in our motorhome staying on the car park. It wasn’t as good as our Chinese back home, but we are biased! Everyone thinks their chinese is the best. We had prawn toast, chicken wings, beef in black bean and king prawn curry with 2 rice and a chips! We were feeling very very hungry! At £22 we had so much food, king prawn curry and the prawn toast were the best! Very much enjoyed after a couple of drinks in the pubs! Yum! Included the menu, but not pictures of the food as we tucked in!

Good value for money. Food was really nice and good portions. The crispy duck was already shredded.We enjoyed our meal.

Good tasting food, quick service.The large curry is actually a regular sized curry as in the picture so would recommend ordering a large as standard or two large portions if you actually want a large.The prize was very competitive and I would say it was definitely worth more.Would recommend a visit if staying in the area, we got this takeaway whilst staying down the road at orcaber caravan site.We had chicken fried rice, curry sauce, salt and pepper chicken and chips this was only around £11.50Would recommend

China China is a great place to stop for food in settle when you have had a busy day walking or sightseeing and want good food quick, the meals are plentiful and very tasty, reasonable price and free prawn crackers which are yum.

could not eat the food tasted very watery called to complain never of a refund never went back and never will

After quite a few years we thought we would give China China another go because we really like Chinese food as a change from the excellent Indian food available in Settle. Once more we were disappointed. There were enough prawns in my King Prawn Szechuan style but the sauce lacked punch and was overly sweet. Similarly the Chicken Satay had a good proportion of chicken but had little of anything else other than onion. With competition from a good Cantonese or Thai restaurant this place would have to up its game or fold. Settle deserves better. We'll have another go in a few years if it's still

After a gap of eight years we tried China China last night and was very happy with excellent meal. Phoned in order ready when we went to collect. Super portions well cooked and clean establishment. We won't hesitate now that China China in Settle has improved so much. Well done.

Probably the worst Chinese food we have not eaten. Would never visit again ! Please avoid. Not worthy of your money.

This was the worst Chinese we have ever had . The one star is just for being hot and ready on time. Sezchaun chicken was tasteless and special chow mein gloomy slop. How they continue to get custom is a mystery. !

Very good value Chinese food, we ring through and it is ready for our collection, but if you order at the desk the wait is not long.Be prepared although good food and excellent value for money they do not take cards, so visit the garage across the road and use the cash machine there first to avoid embarrassment.

I suspect this place trades on the fact that it is the only Chinese in Settle. The food is terrible and after all the bad reviews in 2017, we were hoping they would up their game, but alas, they seem to think they can continue to get away with rubbish food; it's not just not authentic Chinese, it's not even a poor English version. Far too much sauce, too much padding out with cheap ingredients, eg onions and generally not very palatable.

Take away was just ok for a little while from here but now it is really bad again. Avoid at all costs

Si yo no hubiera tirado la carne curry sospecho que aún sería masticar ahora! ! El sweet n salsa era tan delgadas que podían ver a través de ella. . . Y en cuanto a la. vieja broma music hall" este pollo es correoso". . . Podría haber sido escrito sobre este lugar. . . Siento ser tan negativo, pero en algunos lugares no prueba suficientemente difícil servir comida de buena calidad. . . .

I really wish this place was good as we have no other chinese locally but it is abysmal. The food is horrible, sorry to say that. There is plenty of business for a good chinese and I hope we get one soon.

This is a good takeaway, whilst on holiday locally we always have at least one from here without any worries, well priced and quality to enjoyed to the last mouthful.

This take away HAS gone downhill. The cooking is terrible. We ordered two dishes, king prawn schezwan and "Deep fried CRISPY beef" and neither were good, the "crispy" beef was absolutely terrible; not crispy at all, in fact gloopy and soft, slimey batter over unchewable "beef" strips. The "crispy" beef was mixed up with a tasteless brown sauce full of slimey uncooked onions to pad the dish out. the net result was that the whole dish was a brown mass of slime, no crispyness anywhere! Both of us threw away the bulk of the portions. Inedible. the king prawn dish was OK, but again, lots of slimey onion slices added to pad it out. Please, please, Chef, raise your prices if you must, but stop producing uneatable dishes of pig-swill. Crispy beef is supposed to be CRISP deep fried very thin battered beef strips, dry, no mixed in sauce, accompanied by a portion of spicy chili style sauce to pour on at the table.

had take away last week but will not be back in a rush . Food was mediocre lacking in flavour and portion size left a lot t o be desired not good value for money go to the waterlilly at kirkby instead !!

We have been using this Chinese takeaway for the last ten years and we have never had a bad meal.staff are always friendly food is always ready in 15_20 minutes its the only Chinese in the area we use.

Nos alojamos en instalarse recientemente por una semana y tuvimos una comida para llevar china una noche. Mi pollo chow principal no tienen incluso una pieza de pollo! ! ! Nunca me han decepcionado. Tuve también preguntó específicamente cuando ordene que no quieres champiñones con el curry especial - y adivina - un montón de setas en el curry. Que no volvería.

Esta es nuestra comida para llevar local chino y nos encanta. El Singapore Vermicelli con Ilove salsa picante satay y la sal y la pimienta, alitas de pollo son deliciosas. Tiendo a cumplir con lo que sé que gustará pero la familia han intentado una mucho más amplia variedad de platos y hasta ahora hemos disfrutado todos ellos :).

This is an unpretentious good value Chinese take-away. Some years ago the portions were small compared with other take-aways. No such problems now. Jolly good value and plenty of it. If you don't care to wait, ring ahead and it will be waiting for you. Pleasant staff, good Chinese food and plenty of it. What more could a hungry chap whose wife does not care for Chinese food want almost on his doorstep?

Lets just say if this Chinese was in my local town it would be quiet.... sampled 2 take away's and both were poor in quality... curry bland, sweet n sour special very tough indeed...I only went back a 2nd time due to it being the only place open...they need to get out and about and realise that they would make a fortune if they improved the quality of the food...

We grabbed a chinese after coming back from the Lake District. We had completely forgotten the time, and realised it was quite late so ordered a take away. It was lovely food and cooked well. Just bere in mind I don't believe they do deliveries!

This Chinese takeaway is a little disappointing: the food is mediocre: for example, if you choose sweet and sour then you can expect some gristly meat in an over-sweet sauce that has probably been dolloped out of a large jar over the cheap cuts of meat. Choose your takeaway food from one of the other outlets in the town.

Friendly welcome by the staff. Very helpful. Our order was 1 x King prawn fried rice, 1 x House special chow mien, and a portion of salt and pepper chips. We were given a free bag of prawn crackers. The salt and pepper chips had a really nice kick with them, they were very tasty. However the Fried rice was a little bland and the chow mien came in a clear slimy snot like substance rather than a sauce, it tasted fine and no ill effects but it just looked unpleasant. If we ever visit again it will be for the salt and pepper chips.

Previously I would not have used this chinese as the food was disgusting. Was told that it had got better so decided to try it last month and it was better. Tried again today and enjoyed it. It is a takeaway and not to the same standard as chinese restaurants but for what it is it was fine.

The staff were friendly and efficient. Food came pretty quickly. Good choice on the menu. Hadn't had a chinese in ages but it was delicious. The deep fried chrispy beef was amazing. We enjoyed a slap up meal for a fair price.

Visited whilst on holiday and took them back to our site. Friendly staff. Food was ok but nothing special prawn crackers smelt of chemicals when we opened the bag and had a tang to them so they were not eaten, never had crackers that tasted like this before, ever. The best thing we ordered was the chicken and mushroom.

Popped in while on holiday. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and took our order quickly. A little surprised that many of the dishes did not come with rice or chips.Our meals arrived quickly and we took them back to our tent.Really nice food and decent sized portions.

Used it a few times, it's ok if you really want a Chinese but nothing to write home about. I usually find a chinese when I'm somewhere else! A bit disappointing really, our favourite Indian (ruchee) and chippy (shambles) in Settle are both top-notch examples of their respective genres.

Had a take out from China china. The chicken and mushroom was excellent as was the Chinese curry. Reasonable priced and the man who served us was lovely
