Surf and turf burrito is amazing … I didn’t like the baked chips but that’s my opinion others might like them I just think they should be more cooked … cheese sauce is to die for and the bbq salsa is surprisingly good …

ORIGINAL REVIEW 6 YEARS AGO. Chilango Islington is amazing. Kind and incredibly capable staff, fresh ingredients, good portions for a good price! Definitely the best place to eat in Angel. I've been coming here regularly for almost a year and every experience has been fantastic. The new vegan menu? Absolutely delicious. 100% recommend. EDIT AS OF 31/10/2024 Chilango has lost everything that made it great in the last 6 years, I can’t understand why they are even still open. My last meal was terrible like actually vile it taste cheap and cold and why on earth do you guys always ignore the order notes? I hate peppers I hate hate hate them. Why was my burrito stuffed full of cold barely cooked peppers?!? Honestly don’t waste your money here they don’t even have a working phone line you can’t even double check your order is what you asked for cause they guys are won’t do more than a skim of the notes. You guys used to be my favourite place, now I feel like actually blocking you on the delivery apps IF that was even an option. I can’t stand the idea of how much money I’ve spent on burritos withOUT peppers and gotten the EXACT OPPOSITE. zero stars out of zero. You guys are worst than those ghost kitchens on the delivery apps at least i understand that kind of FRAUD.

Overall good experience for a quick and cheap lunch in the area. The ingredients were good quality, the rice was fresh (not from a pre-cooked pack like many other mexican places do), very tasty and good value. Not the most amazing place to sit in, but does the job for a quick lunch.

We’ve eaten here a few times now. Burritos are delicious, packed with flavour and full of fresh ingredients. Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Fantastic vegan burrito options.

Amazing and filling burrito for lunch. The maple in this isn’t chicken gave a really nice flavor for the whole burrito!

Was looking forward to eating here on the way home but the staff were already cleaning the grill at 10.50pm, it’s just lazy.

The food is excellentttt, i can’t stop thinking about that chicken burrito the staff recommended me. I live in soho with a chilango nearby but I travel all this distance to the angel chilango just for the amazing team they have and the service they provide me EVERY TIME. You must come and try their homemade lemonade, tastes just like my grandma’s.

I got served by Jordan last Monday evening and the experience was amazing. He was very helpful/ diligent & cheerful. The fella deserves a promotion. The most honest review I can give is that the food is amazing…probably the best in that genre of food. The food choice isn’t huge but I think that is a good thing because I think the focus is really on the quality. Four stars is because they have been slowly reducing the size of the meals and it’s disappointing. I know what the size of the hot boxed used to be. It seems to happen each order I make.

Tiny portions of tasteless nothing. The kind of place that gives oxygen to the non Londoners who think London is rubbish and overpriced. Avoid.

I've had the best experience in London all because of Maxwell, Ravi, Kailash. I've never felt so welcome and been helped with my dietary needs to the T. I recommend this to anyone.

The phone number for this place doesn’t work and it’s been a problem the last couple times I’ve tried to contact them. I just got someone else order and I’m getting a refund separate to that but I’ve reordered and I wan to clarify something but can’t get through. I love chilango like been a loyal customer for years and years but they put peppers in my veg burrito all the time despite having strict instructions to put anything but those in. I just want to call and double check but I can’t get though. Chilango is my comfort meal. I have been eating there since 2016. Please I hate grilled peppers and you guys don’t have clear enough options to select on your delivery sites like Uber eats or deliveroo. I just want a veg burrito with guacamole but NO seasonal grilled veg ESPECIALLY peppers. Please guys fix the phone or fix the delivery apps. EDIT July 13th 2024 - the phone still doesn’t work it’s listed different on google versus delivery sites. I am really frustrated. The burrito is not worth it if the delivery instructions aren’t followed!

Driver delivered on time and with a smile! Food wasn't bad tasting but I didn't get the salsas or coriander rice I selected. I got plain rice and one massive slice of tomato. Very stingy with the chicken.

I don’t know what they put in their loaded fries but it must be crack… also wish it came with the tall mixed race girl who made it, definitely returning for her- I mean the loaded fries, they were great!

i find the quality absolutely terrible... never ordering from here again!!! ordered £26 work of meet and i only got 8 small pieces... the sent loads of bread though. even the salad they sent it all mixed within when all other kebabs put it separately. terrible never again

Every time I’ve come into Chilango upper street, it’s clean, tidy and the staff are very friendly. I’ve found Maxwell and Maamie to be especially helpful - always going to great lengths to be as helpful as they can. Everyone is very nice and the level of customer service here is very high. Fardin is also very nice. The food is always excellent and prepared to a very high standard and I enjoy the atmosphere.

Okay first off!!! Let me just start by saying the food is absolutely delicious and so fresh. I can eat healthy but have the food genuinely taste amazing what a dream come true. Secondly the team are so sweet :,)… I’m not sure which team member was working on wednesday evening - but I made an online order mentioning my birthday in the comments and they left me such a sweet sweet note I wish I could thank them :(. Not only will I be returning for the food, but 100% for the lovely customer service too. #chilangoalltheway

Today I went to chilango in upper Street Islington. I was greeted by Alba and served by Fardin both their presence and service were impeccable. I was greeted immediately and Fardin had nice banter with me whist making my order. Both lovely people great for your business 5 stars 👍🙏🏾💯

So we ordered a delivery of 2 hotboxes and a burrito. Although the picture of the hotboxes looked big, I was expecting something quite small . When it arrived, it did appear to be a standard size but there was more than enough food in each rice box to possibly get 2 lunches, out of 1 box. They were enjoyed and would definitely be re ordered. Th burrito was huge and fell apart while I was eating it but very tasty. The waffle fries were very tasty but the portion size was as very small and quite pricey.

Despite being a proud Mexican eatery no one speaks Spanish. I ordered the vegetarian burrito. They only had few scraps of the vegetables. The girl said she would give me extra guacamole to compensate. The burrito ended up being really full. I suspected it was going to be a nightmare to eat it as it was, also given the fact that they only wanted to give me, initially, a small napkin. So I asked the girl if she could cut the burrito in half. She said they're not allowed because of "cross contamination". I didn't understand the relationship between my question and her answer... I said: "you can use a clean knife and there won't be any cross contamination". Still she said they're not allowed. It was a very frustrating first experience at this restaurant. The reguetón music doesn't help either. The positives: the girl was very friendly and despite everything she tried to help. The burrito was really good, big and cheap. Nice decoration.

Food: portions aren’t as big as they used to be. Also complimentary sauces on the table which were the main attraction for me aren’t there anymore?! Bring them back. Service: very very sweet and friendly. Atmosphere: clean

Experience eating here recently has been awful. It’s a shame cause the burritos are generally good but whenever I’ve come in recently there’s been an issue (cold burrito, not told about missing ingredients before I go ahead with the order, etc.) gone downhill.

Become very stingy and inconsistent. Even stopped the complementary hot sauce on tables. Compared to Chipotle and Tortilla this ranks 3rd. Shame used to be great. Recommend Chipotle which is 1min walk away from here.

The tacos are a stick soggy mess without much a flavour. I guess other reviewers must be ordering the burito? Not sure. Horrible tacos in any case.

So. Lovely Taco (prawn) Fries (which I waited for so as they were hot and fresh) were spot on. The only thing I would say is that iceberg lettuce is a disappointment. There are so many other great lettuce leaves out there. £15.50 for taco, fries and coke a little bit on the steep side but I understand given the prices of food, fuel etc. Guac was lovely but a tiny bit more lime juice would have been appreciated. Tasted like it was made with bottled lime juice rather than freshly squeezed. I might be wrong. The fresh lime is the difference between a good guac and a great guac IMO. I will be back. John

I was tempted to give the food a 4 because of the limited vegan options. But that wouldn’t be fair as it’s not a vegan restaurant and there are sufficient options. Besides the taste and quality is excellent as well as super filling. This was my first time and the staff were great at explaining the process and options. It is fun and reassuring to watch them prepare your meal and be asked what you want included; an anxious vegans’ dream. The decor is super colourful and fun. My only critique of the atmosphere was the music was really loud; which was a little much during the day while the restaurant wasn’t full. Great Latin vibe though. A fantastic experience and I will come again.

Food is great at most times I visit; steak is my favourite and portions sometimes vary depending on who is serving, when the staff member serves a good portion is very satisfying.
