Chickaros Edgbaston in Birmingham

Came to this branch and it wasn’t even open on time, we waited for 10 minutes before calling another store which said it should be open, the guy came 20mins later. One staff member let us in but there was no one else around. When we were seated, they informed us that none of the workers were there. Eventually, a worker came and took our order in his outside clothes. The food arrived 40 mins after and it wasn’t up to standard as compared to other branches such as ladypool rd or hodge hill. Very disappointed…

The manager was great as they had messed up a previous order so they gave a choc cake slice. The food on the other hand, I asked for a sirloin steak to be rare as physically possible; it was the complete opposite, I felt I was chewing a brick which I could use for a home extension, now writing the review a few hours after the meal, it has given me explosive diarrhoea. Never eating from here again. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

Wonderful customer service and great manager

The overall interior and atmosphere were quite good, but the food quality was disgusting, it was not even on below the average scale . The cheese slices in burger smelled so different we couldn’t even eat that , the food was not fresh . It was cold and tasteless. The burger buns weren’t fresh either the salad . Completely disappointed and waste of money .

Had the worst experience ordering from here, The delivery took almost 2 hours due to the fact that they had originally said the food was stolen by another driver, Then they made me another batch, the Philly cheese steaks came in burger buns, The steak was very very chewy and tough, it was almost impossible to eat, I was really unhappy as it was a treat for someone, Called them and was told they can't do anything about it

the food at Chickaros is top-notch! They have a variety of dishes that are not only delicious but also beautifully presented. It's definitely a great choice for a special birthday dinner.

This food place is very underrated for those looking for a comforting meal with family and friends, the started included of different kinds of meat and shrimp which were all so well cooked and full of flavour, we ordered the drip burger as the main and words cannot describe how lovely the chicken was and how much their food lives upto its name. We ordered a ferrero cheesecake lastly which as expected tasted excellent, the seating arrangement is lovely and there are barriers in certain parts for those who enjoy privacy; the waiters were lovely and took good care of us, helping us with our every need, even went as far to buy candles for us just for the special occasion. Would love to see this place continue being so successful and so heartwarming. 🤍🤍

Lovely decor however the service and mediocre food let it down. Food was standard and one of the waitresses was not pleasant at all, did not feel comfortable asking her anything. The menu was extensive with lots of choice, there was also a desserts menu but we chose not to order any desserts.

The place is nice but quality of food and service isn't highly rated. I found my chips cold under my warm Parmeson which kind of spoilt the dish for me. The mixed kebabish was good and fried chicken strips were crispy, though the grilled wings were dry. Overall an average reccomendation from.

Food tasted average and served slightly cold, and service was terrible. Waiters are clueless and not welcoming.

Messed up drinks order. Lack of napkins on the table. Food came out very very late. Ordered bao buns which I've had before at the ladypool branch so I know I enjoy them, however these were inedible, very hard almost like a rock. I just ate the filling and left the rock...I mean bun. Drip burger had a weird aftertast, it was left unfinished. Chips were quite hard, left unfinished. Lamb chops tasted of charcoal, tried my best to finish this as I was hungry after the disappointment. Don't bother with the mocktails at almost £7 they taste really bad. The blue raspberry daquri tasted like water. The strawberry daquri was just a slushy with a hint of strawberry. My other family members ordered rice the chicken and kebabish which they really enjoyed and had no complaints. The staff were really friendly and attentive, they did try their best however when the food lacks this much the service isn't enough to bring back customers. I will stick to the other branch.

I’ve literally just ordered food today and have finished eating. The food we ordered was basic and lacked flavour. Ordered the hot shot chicken parmesan, it wasn’t hot just a chicken steak with sauce on it and there was hardly any rice in the container which was a shame because that tasted nice with the coleslaw. Order a kids meal also which was alright, the chips could be crispier. Also, order some wings, which I wouldn’t have again the lemon and herb isn’t to my liking. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enjoyable and i don’t think i will order from here again.

Deeply disappointed at this branch of Chickaros. I've visited the other 2 around Birmingham, whilst I haven't left a review on them as they where ok, standard. This was disappointing. Service was good, arrived and seated by the waiter. At the time we arrived it was only us and one other table. So I can't imagine it being any less then good service. Ordered our food and was excited to try the 'most popular' items on the menu. These where 'out of stock' on our day. So already a let down there. We then went on to order. Ordered the kids meals first, and ours as the kids where starving at this point. I ordered the 'smash burger' as I was feeling this. Orders placed and then we waited for it to come to us. Took about 20 mins, but the adults food arrived first. Which means the kids where just there watching and feeling upset. By the time the kids food arrived our food was cold, so had to re send this back which the waiter confirmed he will 'warm it up'. That can only mean one thing, a microwave. When my burger came back, I did order a 'smash burger' but this came as a pre frozen beef patty and not fresh at all. As I am not a fan of processed beef I left this burger there and asked why does it say smash and it isn't. Apparently this is how they do it. Left the food there and ate my cold chips that where re microwaved. Absolutely disappointing as this place can be good, but it doesn't even show it.

We extended an invitation to several guests from Manchester, and there are ample complimentary parking spaces available outside. A gentleman arrived and politely requested that we can choose our seats. The dining room was exceptionally quiet, and we were left alone for some time. It was well-maintained and clean. After placing our order, we noticed that they had forgotten to provide spoons and knives. When we inquired about these items, they were surprised and when we mentioned the need for napkins. They promptly provided us with exactly seven napkins, as there were seven of us. Additionally, they had overlooked the food for my son. I reminded them of this oversight, and they became visibly distressed. When we had finished our main course, we asked for dessert. Once again, they failed to provide the full order. Spoons were missing, and the Matilda cake was missing. While we were waiting for our desserts, we observed that the staff were standing at the reception desk, engaged in conversation with one another. I understand that they may have been preoccupied, but there were several families who arrived during our dinner time. This oversight was deeply embarrassing for us as guests. It is imperative that they improve their focus and enhance their services. They should learn from the successful practices of other branches of Chickaros in Birmingham.

Ive been there recently, we ordered around 9 and received main course after an hour, while almost finished they came with starters!!! Poor staffing I will say and they need proper training! Kids were hungry , the staffs are too slow like snail

I called up to book a table and the lady that answered the phone ended the call before I even gave my name for the table. The food was very nice and fresh however the service and staff were awful. not to mention how three of the tables we were going to sit at were filthy, the tables not cleaned and food left on the seats. an exception to the food was the rice that tasted awfully bland, and was very soggy almost like it was microwaved .

Overall was a disappointing visit, have been to Ladypool road and this branch a few times and was in the area so decided to take a visit however the food quality was lacking. The king prawns were tiny baby prawns and were not fresh, when i raised this i was informed it was due to a delivery issue from the supplier - (tip to management make the customer aware at the time of ordering). The nachos had no salsa on them, when raising this with the waiter he did not know what salsa was and it led to me showing him on the menu to then get it added on top. Service was poor a lack of customer service and having to ask repeatedly for items is not expected. The mains were better but not what you would expect. If other branches have gone down like this its not a very good look for the brand. Personally this has put me off visiting any chickaro restaurant.

Service was great, food was a colleague there who has never been and he really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately the burger was over cooked and was sent back and was over cooked again the second time round so that was taken of without any issues but ment one of our party didn't have any food while we was there. Maybe next time we can have a better experience

Food was very delicious and tasty. Chicken was very delicious and full of flavours. Only negatives are chips were slightly undercooked and could have done with more chips, and dynamite shrimps could be better, were too hard and extremely small!

Both the food and service were excellent

I was disappointed when everybody states chickaros is great and when I tried it because I wanted to go for a graduation meal, it wasn’t great at all. The interior was lovely and nice, very quiet which is how I like it. We ordered our food and drinks, the food arrived first, it looked good, but wasn’t. My friends rice was stone cold like it just came out of the refrigerator like they only heated it up for 40 seconds as when I took a bite the rice was still stuck together. My other friend had a hair in her Parmesan, and mine and my other friends chicka chips were very cold, I believe the sauce made it colder. None of us recieved coleslaw with our meals, only one of my friends did when she received the wrong Parmesan as she ordered hot shot and not classic. The drinks came out 15 minutes after the food, the waitress apologised and gave us complimentary drinks which I am very grateful for. This chickaros was disappointing and I don’t think I’ll return to this branch, it was quiet and I think I understand why now, we didn’t get dry ice either. I believe you should have more staff to support the waitress at the front as it was just her when it started to get a bit busy, I stopped complaining as I felt bad for her. and you need better chefs as we were the only ones there and they still managed to mess up our food. I have worked in a chickaros before and I felt like serving myself at one point and the experience would have been better. Do better thanks

Quite possibly the most overrated food and place I've come across. Chickaros as a whole is hit and miss. They have great sounding food like the Drip burger which is what I ate but its a pretty bad take on a spicy chicken burger basically. Would never go if it was my choice.

Place was really quiet. Tables were dirty I ordered los Angeles special which stated mince. The meal actually was meat and chip's with cheese and alot of sauce. No sign of mince. Preety much eating in a regular pfc. Nothing special. And overpriced meal for what was received.

Decent food with nice flavours, good upgrade to classic dishes. Service was standard, one of the servers (seemed like the manager) was friendly and approachable and was always looking out for the customers if they needed anything. The other two servers were helpful but seemed quite detached from everything, they forgot our water and they didn’t come check at the table if we needed anything and felt awkward asking for things. Service could definitely be better given it was very quiet and at one point we were the only customers. overall standard experience, similar to nando’s but with table service.

Awful. Food arrived cold and tasteless, things were missing off the plate waiter said he’d be back with it but then disappeared and did not come back (wasn’t even busy!) how rude, we wasn’t attended to at all had to get up twice to ask for things (during our meal) but then we’d see the waiters sitting on empty tables on their phones. Bad service bad food wouldn’t come back. Don’t fall for their social media pics they make their food look tasty when it’s actually bland they do not strike me as a company that are actually passionate about food, from the way it’s cooked to presented to the service there’s 0 passion in it, it’s just money for them from our experience here the macaroni cheese tastes tinned and who the hell wants a cold plate of food

Just had my anniversary meal here, Tebi served us and was absolutely amazing. All the staff were so fantastic and gave us a nice treat at the end. Definitely coming back, food was amazing too!

We came in Monday evening and the girls Rahma and Tebby gave us stellar customer service from the moment we came in to the moment we left. Five stars all round from us.

I had hoped for good things seeing a 4.5 google review. The restaurant is beautiful and has excellent seating capacity and the usual decor to make picture look good. The service was ok though the people were friendly. The restaurant has easy parking out front; it’s in a small square just opposite the White Swan. The starters we ordered were chicken goujons and dynamite prawns which were nice though possible just warmed from a commercial pack. The nachos were terrible. Cold, almost no cheese and just a cold tomato sauce on some Doritos. Sad. Also a Don Taco which had an insanely hot sauce. The meat was nicer. The main were on fillet and one Chicago burger. They were both ok; but burger standards are getting high these days. The chips that accompanied the burgers were very good. Hot, crispy and unsalted. Nice cheese dip to go with the burgers. We didn’t try the mocktails, shakes or desserts on offer. Will I go back? Probably not; there are too many very good choices and more consistent quality and prepared food. I wish them luck.

The food is too basic. Everything they do you can find in any corner shop. Frozen food, I bet only the chicken is "fresh". Atmosphere I didn't like it, it looks like a halal shisha strip club bar. Nothing different. Just the basic fried chicken with packed sauces on the top... And the staff you can see they don't have any experience, and they don't care. They take too long just to serve a simple fried chicken. Bunch of kids who think they belong to the alum rock gang community. Very rude. If you not Muslim they will treat you with no respect.. never more

We had the worst experience of our life, we went to open our fast there, we ordered the food at 07.44pm and waited till 09pm and the food wasn’t served. They didn’t even bring starters, no drinks at all. Just gave us water and some rotten fruits to open our fast. The manager (beard guy in jubba) was exceptionally rude, he was talking like he will smash my face. The staff was exceptionally unprofessional, when i went to reception and asked where our drinks are, they started laughing, looking at each other. It was like the owner has given the restaurant to bunch of spoiled kids to run. I will never ever prefer this restaurant to anyone.

One of my favourite places! Amazing service! The staff are very welcoming and making sure that each customer is very well looked aftered especially when its very busy. The food was just very outstanding, i recommend this place 100%

We were over charged at the till as his (manager) excuse was " there's a miss print on the menu". We booked the table a day before and we weren't infromed then, neither by the waitress before we ordered our food. This is against consumer rights and I shall be reporting it. The food had arrived luke warm after an hour. I would say the portion sizes are decent. I had ordered the loaded parmesan chicken and the layer of cheese was thicker than my chicken as my chicken piece was so thin I could barely taste it. Waitress was lovely and did get everyone's order right. We did ask for more water as we only had 2 jugs of water for over 20 people, but they didn't bring it. Not forgetting to add the upset stomach all night and day. Never again!

Food came an hour later then iftaar opening time lol, missing items and cold.. makes no sense surely you’d be more prepped 16/17 days into Ramadan, shouldn’t offer stuff if you can’t keep up with the demand, which wasn’t even that busy

For your own sake, open your fast elsewhere The fast opened at 6-30ish, we did not receive our food until 7-30ish. We calledto book at 5 to 5-30 , we were advised to call ten minutes before hand and the food would be ready to give out at 6-30. On top of this, no water given to open fast and the dates were handed out by a customer. The lateness of the food was worsened when asked if we could get a time for when our food would be served and the manager/owner constantly said 15 minutes. This was the same for easily 50-60% of the restaurant. There was also food missing from the iftaar platter which does not look anything like the pictures they promote. Any advice given to the manager after was met by ignorance.

Came here approx 40 mins before iftaar time took our order an it wasn’t even that busy when we got in they prob had like 5 maybe 6 tables mostly tables of 2. Literally waited almost 2 hours for food to arrive and we didn’t even receive our drinks . On top of that some of the people that walked in after us got their drinks or food first also they didn’t give out anything to break our fast which they stated on the menu that it will be given smh a customer had to give out their dates himself . Yeah I get they were short on staff but they should have declined customers or even gave a waiting time for the food so then the customer could decide if they want to wait or go somewhere else. Absolutely appalling for the chickaros brand never again and I’m sure 60% of the customers I’ve seen today would agree. I’ll stick to ladypool road where the customer service is top notch.

The food was amazing. The chef obi did a great job. The food came quickly which was perfect because we were fasting. Ree and v were amazing, service was great and they were both friendly.

Food was well presented and cooked to perfection. Came out a bit cold but it was understandable due to it being time to break fast and rush hour.

I would like to say a big thank you to Rahma for a great service . We drove over an hour to try your restaurant for the first time and nothing was to much for her . She went above and beyond and had a smile on her face the whole evening. We will be back again!

Had dinner with my wife this evening. I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Despite being very busy, the food was quick and service was excellent. We were served by a couple of young ladies in Hijabs who were always smiling and attentive. It’s really nice that we have a halal restaurant on our doorstep in Edgbaston, and not have to travel to Ladypool Road for a burger. Great work ladies. Keep up the good work!

Been a few times now, food great, and get loads for the money. Kids love the chicken tenders.

Ordered off uber eats. Asked for only one dish to have plain chips and instead all orders had plain chips. The Los Angelos loaded fries was vile. The cheese was solid and glued all the chips together. The meat was rubbery and seemed like it was cooked earlier and reheated. The parm was dry and despite paying for the full version only received half. Never ordering from this branch again. Sad excuse for a meal and went to bed hungry. :(

My second time coming here, and both times for birthday parties and big groups. The food was again excellent. Absolutely everyone enjoyed the food, service and staff. We know we will be going back again.
