Chianti Restaurant in Falkirk

Great food, very slow service this time but never happened before so maybe a blip lovely atmosphere.. Been loads and keep going back love it!

Chianti used to be out go to Italian but we had to ask for 4 out of our 8 meals to be sent back to the kitchen as the food was cold. The Carbonara used to be the best we'd had but now with the new recipe I wouldn't recommend at all. I see you've recently updated the menu but I would say for the worse. Our family celebration dinner was very disappointing and the service wasn't great. We used to recommend this restaurant to anyone but now I don't think we'll be back.

I’m staying in the Falkirk Travel lodge for a month whilst I work at Grangemouth , so tonight I thought I’d give Chianti Italian restaurant a try and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. The food was great and the 2 young women running front of house were very welcoming & doing a great job. Arancini was very fresh and authentic and you’ll see from the photos the beer and steak was also on point. I’d advise anyone local thinking about going , or anyone staying near by in one of hotels to get yourself booked in.

The gnocchi was pretty good, but the sauce was just a little bland. The seafood spaghetti was very good.

Must be under new management. Food is more heavy; more northern Italian (heavy sauces). The only salad, ceasar salad, was way to heavily dressed. Two "specials" were out. The bruschetta was simply a small pizza.Not up to it's usual standard.

Was very impressed to find such a great place with an excellent kitchen. If you're around and looking for a tasty meal with decent price, this place is for you.

Great service and tasty food, ate here twice in 2 days and was very happy with it both times.

An Italian restaurant in the middle os Scotland. We were with a big group without reservations but that went well. Parking is easy and the welcome was ok. Especially coming in with 10 people. They had to arrange some tables but when that was done it was cosy and comfortable. The staff is friendly and professional. Now the food: the food was typical Italian and that in the middle of an other country surprised me a little. Because we had a bigger group I could see (not taste) all different dishes. It looked amazing The dish I had was good.

We stayed in the hotel close by and found this gem. By far the best Italian food I've ever had. So good in fact we dined here again the following evening . Daves service was brilliant and the Chef needs commending for producing quality food time and time again. thank you to the Chianti team.

Poor service less than average food badly prepared

I really do not want to give a poor review, but we have seen some changes in this restaurant recently, and sadly, not for the better. The menu has been reduced, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, it is when there are dishes not available. We have been here twice in 3 weeks due to birthday celebrations. The first time, we had booked early as we had children needing home for bed. On this occasion, the service was appalling. 3 members on staff on, and I constantly had to keep approaching them for service. In brief, the pulled beef was unavailable, the focaccia didn't arrive, and when it did (after being prompted ), it was sodden in oil. The mushroom tortellini was a very small dish. The scallops were £13 for one very small scallop. The kids' menu describes bolognaise. However, this is mince in tomato sauce. Only half our coffees arrived, and the birthday cake we had brought with us was served as the children were putting their jackets on. And that was just the first visit! And once again, we were the only table in for the majority of this visit. We were guests at a friend's birthday on the second visit. The mushroom tortellini was equally as small. The scallops consisted of 2 this time. All other dishes were enjoyed, and to put something positive, I very much appreciated them changing the aubergine spaghetti dish to rigatoni. The big issue we had here was them adding 20% service charge to the bill, then when questioned what this was, they couldn't tell us. In order to charge 20% service charge, the service is got to be outstanding. As demonstrated before, it was below par at best. I'm gutted as we really like this restaurant, but we'll not be back in a hurry.

Very disappointed was in today for lunch had mussels to start which were quite nice although a bit oily but i did enjoy my husband had sirloin steak at 32 pounds served with chips he ordered a red wine sauce which was basically wine and oil was disgusting i had pasta no flavour was really poor the cheapest pasta is 15 pounds and i wouldn't mind if it was nice menu very limited very little choice dont even have a fillet steak only one fish choice which is cod husband tried it the last time we were in very bland chianti always been my favourite Reasturamt but im afraid its not for me very poor value and poor food will miss the excellent staff

Nice clean place. Plenty of parking. Food is always tasty no matter what you order. Great for a quick meal or a full evening event.

The menu has changed and let me tell you it’s not for the better the carbonara is vile not like their previous one which was the best I’ve ever tasted, will not be back such a shame

As I write this I am enjoying a beautiful meal the second in 2 days. Definitely my new favourite Italian restaurant. If you have the chance definitely pay them a visit. Staff are friendly and the new revised menu would be a crime to miss. The olives are a must in my humble opinion. Oh the risotto in the pic was gorgeous.

Very impressed with the new menu, delicious food. Most of the staff were lovely, except one young lady, hopefully she was just having a bad day but we were made to feel a little uncomfortable. Always been one of my favourite places to eat.

Went there last week for my wife's birthday, but food lacked authentic taste, pasta didn't seem cooked, plus we both had upset stomachs within hours of visiting, probably won't go back 😢

Nice friendly restaurant a very short walk from the Premier Inn. Nice pizza and risotto.

The food was ok but not amazing not somewhere I'd rush back to. The worst part was the mold in the rim of the lid of tap water bottle. That really needs to be looked at as they are obviously not cleaned.

Staying at the Macdonald Ichyra nearby, we had a nice 25 min walk to get here and it was so worth it! My husband and I both had the specials which were absolutely delicious. So pleased we ventured out here, service was very friendly, drinks came quickly and food was fabulous. Definitely recommend.

Had been in six or seven times. Lovely meals. Don't know if new owners but today. It was very poor to say the least. Won't be back.

Staff good and decor lovely. Not sure whats happened it's changed so much, seems to have changed hands. I actually left my starter and the food was very bland, not the usual restaurant standard from Chianti. I agree with the other reviewer...tasted like shop bought pasta and the meatballs were fatty, hard tasted like cheap meat, Staff was made aware. Menu options reduced also. Such a shame as been going for years and handy to get to, better places to eat.

first review ive ever done and its worth it - staff are absolutely lovely. was in tonight for a meal with my boyfriend and the food was to die for. the restaurant is very beautiful and perfect for couples and families

Service was really slow and pretty unfriendly. We waited over half an hour to order drinks and had to chase down staff to order more. It felt like we weren't wanted and staff were keen to get us out quickly (even though it wasn't particularly busy). Last time we visited (2 years ago) it was good, but everyone in our party was disappointed this time. The pasta dishes were likened to those packet pastas where you 'just add water', the pizzas were OK and my sister enjoyed her steak. But who cares about her. What about MY dinner??

Another delicious meal in a lovely place.

It was my first time at Chianti with being gluten and milk intolerant. Lunch menu had a couple options for myself, starters; smoked salmon and minestrone soup, mains; gf pasta in arrabiata sauce, minute steak. I had minestrone soup (and it still came with normal bread and butter) and minute steak with chips in a tomato sauce and then peppermint tea. It was delicious, and I would have it again. My family had spaghetti carbonara, minute steak and strawberry cheesecake and 3 scoops of ice cream; vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. All meals were amazing, and I must admit, I would have loved to have the spaghetti carbonara, but there was no alternative for my intolerances.

Service is a bit of a hit and miss and staff seem to suffer from amnesia. Can't fault the food though.

Fillet steak was amazing with excellent pepper sauce, group of 5 all had different choices and no complaints whatsoever. Quality well cooked and presented food. Second visit and standards are being maintained - highly recommended

Visited by chance, excellent food and wine. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Not many customers when we arrived but started filling up quickly.

My goodness best gluten free pizza ! Service is amazing! you can eat anything on the menu despite allergies. They accommodate vegetarian, gluten free and, vegan Stuff is very welcoming and polite place is amazing

Good atmosphere but very slow service

Great setting away on it's own with free parking. Food was so so for me but I'm not a chef so that's just my option. Big main room but didn't really understand why kitchen staff spent so much time wandering in and out of kitchen staring at dinners. Kind of put me of. Probably a better place for older types as that was what the majority of customers appeared to be.

Having high expectations due to past experiences, we were utterly let down and highly disappointed on this occasion. We booked weeks in advance yet there was unsufficient service and nil customer care! 23 of us were ignored for over 40 minutes, it has gone so downhill, can no longer recommend.

Can't fault the food or the service, but nothing particularly exciting in the menu and prices a bit high, but I suppose they are everywhere these days. Enjoyed the entertainment. Photo is the "Chanti Surprise" dessert, which was a white chocolate mousse in a white chocolate ball.

Nice decor but no atmosphere.Staff not friendly.Very pushy, hadn't taken our jackets off before sitting and they were asking for drinks order. Starter was nice not much can go wrong with bruchettie. I ordered chicken risotto,when it came it was a deep brown colour. Couldn't see any chicken just cubes of fatty meat. Sorry can't remember what it was called. Looked disgusting, should have sent it back. But no decided to give it a try. Tasted even worse than the look. Waiter asked if it was to much since I had left it all. Answered no it was horrible, taste was too strong and couldn't eat any. He never commented on it nor came back with any explanation. Drink was fresh orange and soda,it was so pale had to ask waiter to put more orange in as all you could taste was the soda water. Went there for my birthday treat after having a major operation 3 weeks previous. First time out, ruined my day. Needless to say won't recommend and will not return.

Went for lunch and we were not offered lunch menu ! The restaurant policy is only to present the a la carte menu unless customers specifically ask for this. No lunch offer was mentioned on internet sites. Food was lovely but the experience was marred as the tables around us , being in the know, had therefore greater choices available to them. The irony was, that I still would have chosen my lunch from the a la carte menu but the whole experience left a bitter taste and a feeling of Innate dishonesty which did not have the customer at the centre.

Had a lovely family meal. Food delicious. Service very good. We ate quite early at 6pm so was fairly quiet, however was filling up lovely as we left. Lovely little restaurant. Would recommend and we'll be back when we are next in this area. Thank you .

I have visited Chianti several time and always the food was very good. There is plenty free parking at the restaurant. That tree in the restaurant doesn't do anything for the atmosphere but that is a personal opinion some people might love it I rather have an authentic Italian feel in an Italian restaurant. The service was OK no pleasantries but can't blame the girl who served us. The patio with the outdoor pizza oven could do with a tidy up it looks abandoned. It's a shame that little easily fixed details let it down a bit as the food is really good. I don't know if it happened to anyone else but I got charged for items I didn't have once I put it down to an honest mistake but can't help asking for the receipt to see if my bill is right. It never happened after that one time The food is good so I will keep going back to Chianti. If you like Italian food, who doesn't, I can recommend Chianti.

Food was really good and the place is lovely but the staff were not very attentive which was a big let down we had no drinks left when our meal arrived and not one member of staff came near us so after our meal we just paid and left and went to a shop for juice as we were parched our table wasn't even cleared until we left so we had our meal and 1 drink which was disappointing as we were going to have a dessert but knowone came to our table so we just went up Paid and left not sure if it was new staff they were huddled round the till area chatting and the place was quite empty so you would think they would be more attentive

We were staying nearby at the Macdonald Inchyra and didn't really fancy the restaurant at the hotel so we searched what was nearby and this came up with good reviews so we hopped in the car think it was about a 4 min journey and it was pretty quiet when we arrived about 5pm'ish on a Mon night just one other family in. The decor is beautiful. I would of loved to have seen it on a darker night all lit up. Food and drinks came pretty quick. Food was lovely. Great prices too. Staff very friendly. Would definitely return again if we were in the area.

Went for our anniversary dinner. Cold calzone server to me so he had to take it away to make another but I had yo get him to take my wife's dinner so we could dine together and not 30 mins apart. It arrived back on a cold plate.. we will never eat here again as the waiter/ manager did not apologise or help....AVOID.

Lovely authentic Italian restaurant. Great atmosphere and very positive, welcoming staff. The food was tasty and definitely worth a try. If I go back I'd rather just go for drinks and nibbles. Great outdoor space, would be ideal on a sunny day for cocktails.

Had a lovely birthday celebration meal. Wine delish food delish service acceptable for a busy Saturday night. Felt a bit pushed to finish up at 9pm with remarks of "do you wish to order sweet before sweet kitchen closes" and then asked if we wanted coffee before the coffee machine got cleaned that I felt was a hint to leave now so lost a star on that basis. Table covers were clean and fresh which made it a bit more sophisticated. Most restaurants go for low maintenance bare table tops now so hats off as this is a luxury to most places.

Family night out ruined. Poor service , main course arrived 10 minutes after the rest of the party and to make matters worse the pizza was served under cooked with cold mushrooms on top absolutey disgusting..And the response from the staff was OH !! Will never go back ..

Not a good experience !! Steak was very good but that's all . !! Waitress serving us was not quite on the ball and her apron was manky and her nails were black ! White tablecloths were off white and scrunched up and creased on tables . This was all topped off when I went to the ladies and a girl wearing an apron went to the toilet walked out without washing her hands and went straight back to work in the kitchen .!!! Needless we won't be returning there !!

Early dining tonight with our young son, so not busy but staff always lovely as usual and food spot on.

They staff were lovely and very friendly - but the food was terrible! We had some prawns to start, which came out still served in the shells. The dish is covered in sauce which makes this process a right mess - the menu said nothing to suggest it would be served that way. The chips were pretty much just like frozen chips you can buy out the supermarket and bang in the oven. Our garlic bread actually tasted stale. Just really disappointing and wouldn’t recommend the place based on the food.

Not a big place, but I like that. Food was amazing! Truly exceptional. My only criticism is that the manager needs to learn to say NO sometimes, cos being asked to vacate your table just as your having coffee at end of meal so someone else can sit there as manager keeps saying there's tables free, isn't a good thing! The food is Truly excellent and we walked away full and satisfied. Will definitely be visiting again!

Went down for dinner last minute a few weeks ago. Lounge area was busy so was a bit disjointed and waited around for a bit before someone asked if we had a reservation. Seated quickly and had drinks order taken. Don't think there was great communication as another 2 servers came to take drinks order. I had prawns for starter which were nice but difficult to deshell. My husband had the scallops which were OK. The pumpkin veloute was very bland. For mains my husband had the fillet which was cooked fine. We ordered a side of onion rings and truffle/parmesan fries too. I had the gnocchi with gorgonzola and mince. Very cheesy! I had a small glass of white wine, husband had a pint then I had a coffee afterwards. The starters were expensive so this bumped it up, we were nearly £100 for what we had which I don't think was worth it considering what you could get elsewhere. I think it's a good place for families as they have something for everyone but if you're looking for something more special then look elsewhere

As a first time visitor here I was fairly disappointed, the food was lovely, no complaints at all but the service was quite disappointing. On arriving we were not greeted with a smile, just a guy showed up to our table, interactions were shouted from across the room "meal ok"? No drinks menu was given so I had no clue what wines were served. I have read reviews on trip advisor with people saying the same thing about the service. On the way out not one member of staff said "thank you or goodbye"

What a shame! Like Pizza Hut with a fake tree. Could be so much better with a little thought. Waitress with spots was terrible. Rude and couldn't be bothered.

We were out for a family meal. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had a brilliant experience. We were welcomed We had delicious food We had a beautiful dining room which was Amazing Everyone loved our meal out. Thank you, Chianti, You delivered!

The food was a bit cold which made me wonder if it was made a long time before the collection time. Also two tins of irn bru that were paid for were not received.

The food and the service were both excellent. If the atmosphere was lacking, it was due to the restaurant being quite empty for most of our lunch. It was just by the time we left.

Stayed close by and decided to give restaurant a try. Starters were nice and staff friendly. The mains appeared some time later and much to our disappointment the risotto was dry and crunchy, the carbonara was sauce less and claggy. The chips were the best part of the meal. The mains were obviously sitting under the lights while the chips were cooking. When plates were being cleared we said the meals weren’t good. Another waitress came over to advise the dishes were straight out the pan. Definitely not. Full bill handed to us. Paid and left, absolutely won’t be back.

The restaurant looks lovely with very nice decor creating a good atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and friendly though one of the waiters was irritating with his over the top loudness and behaviour. It was disappointing that there was not even one ale available. It doesn't take much effort to have a few bottles behind the bar. After all they don't even need to be kept in a fridge. The biggest disappointment though was my meal. I ordered rigatoni toscana which said it was pasta with Italian sausage. A very misleading description as there were just some tiny slivers of sausage, probably not even enough for one slice.

Very good place, tables spaced out nicely. Suitable for a family night out or a couples romantic night out. Very pleasant staff. Waiter was very chirpy and attentive to everyone and extremely hard working. Food was good and fresh with breathing time between courses which I liked. It made the evening more enjoyable. Lovely interior and exterior. Prices are not expensive , they could increase them easily. Came from 30 miles away after work and found the seating comfortable even for me with a spinal problem. Would definitely recommend. Better than one of the other Italians in Falkirk.

Delicious true Italian food in the outskirts of Edinburgh. This place is the perfect compromise between price and quality, the staff was friendly and chatty, we really enjoyed our dinner.

Don't order the lasagne. Worst lasagne I've EVER had. All pasta and white sauce not a bit of meat in it far less a lovely Bolognese sauce . It didn't even come with a single aside. No garlic bread or side salad. Awful 😞

My mate and I were at this restaurant on Saturday night. First thing I’d like to mention is the attitude of the waiter when i was asking him for a glass or water with lemon in it ( this was what they brought me the first time when I asked for water and I liked it so I asked for another ) he immediately replied no to me when I asked him and then came back 2 minutes later with normal water with ice in it haha, over the course of eating our pizza I was asking occasionally for a new glass of water the look on the guys face when I’m asking him for water was like the was genuinely annoyed at me because I wasn’t drinking normal juice or alcohol 😂 there was another male waiter there that I asked for water with lemon in it but this time they literally chopped a whole lemon into slices and gave me that in a cup of water as some sort of message 😂😂 think that is how bitter they were, the blonde waitress was nice enough to offer me a jug of water but by that point we were about finished so I never took it, the pizza was just as bad as the customer service.

Lovely place in a spot just off the main road. The food was nice enough,I had the arabiata which had a good kick of chilli, so was quite happy. However, my partner had a rigatoni dish that had mushroom and Spanish sausage in it(plenty of mushroom but only shavings of sausage)that he wasn't as impressed with. No ales ,either bottles or draught, so a bit of a disappointment.

Awful. Went there for a meal tonight as we're staying nearby. Really bright lighting and loud music in the restaurant. Would have been happy to forgive this if the food was good but one thing we ordered was a diavola pizza. No chilli on it at all fresh or otherwise. Completely bland and oily. The fries and gnocchi were OK but nobody stopped by the table to ask if food was good. Very disappointing and would not recommend.
