Visited Hemel for business and stayed locally. First time at dining at Chiangmai Cottage. It won't be my last. The food was fantastic. Really tasty. Great selection. Friendly welcome and service. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place is so cute and the waitresses are very friendly. The food is very tasty and for a Saturday dinner we paid surprisingly little. The atmosphere is cosy and unique

Possibly the worst Thai food I have ever eaten. Not a single element was Thai, it was all Chinese food. Staff were great, very nice environment, but the food was just awful and not authentic at all. I ordered krapow and I was given chicken stir fry essentially. The Tom kha soup (coconut chicken) was extremely sour.

First visit with a group of friends. A Monday evening so we enjoyed the special deal. As a vegetarian there are lots of veggie options. Good quality food and lots of it too. Nice cup of mint tea too! Cosy restaurant with great service. Free parking after 6pm in the public car park just off the high street

Lovely thai. The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond to help. The food is delicious. They do a banquet on Sundays and Mondays which is very generous. They also do a set menu every day of the week or you can always order off the main menu too. Would recommend, its great.

We have eaten here several times. Especially good value is the set price, Buffet Menu on Sundays and Mondays. A wide choice of dishes. Well prepared , tasty Thai food. Nice atmosphere, efficient service by friendly staff.

It's a really nice place, it's also really cheap. But the the food was a bit to bland for me. I would of payed double if only it tasted better.

Disappointed with the response I got when I phoned you to order a takeaway. I was put on hold for over two minutes and when I hung up and tried to call back the phone was constantly engaged/off the hook. I am a regular customer with you and I’m very saddened by the service this evening. If you are too busy then just explain.

Charming little restaurant with an attentive and friendly team. Decor is a little tired and overall feels a little dated. Food was good but not particularly exciting and we weren't sure how many dishes to order per person. Menu could do with a little more explanation to aid diners. Prices are very reasonable.

WOW. The Thai Food here is amazing. The only problem is there is simply too much. The duck and coconut rice should be a must try. Staff are friendly, and the venue is really old providing a really nice atmosphere. Would happily come again. Really reasonably priced as well.

Pitty there's no option fore 10 stars. I've been going here for years and never had a meal I didn't like. The service is great, friendly and polite, the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed mixed with very reasonably priced menu there's really nothing negative to say about Chiang Mai Cottage.

The Thai Green and Red curries were amazing if you like spicy food. Try it with one portion of coconut rice.

We had the course meal which is available only on Sunday and Monday. The portions are so big, you will struggle to finish the main course at the end. But the jasmine tea at the end helped settle all the food down. A variety of ingredients and vegetables makes each dish , however I feel all the food was a bit run down, like it is delicious but seems watery. Nevertheless it is tasty food, the ambience is cosy with lots of Thai elements, and the hosts were very nice and accommodating.

Lovely food and great service. The staff were sensible and wore masks. They were v kind and gave my friend a bottle of wine for her birthday. It was a great evening. I've been before and would be happy to go again.

Excellent service. We were a big party of 20. Drinks and food seemed to come through steadily and without any hiccups. Space was limited, but it did not matter as people were meeting after a long time. Food was good, it seemed to be too mild for me, but I am used to hot and spicy food. Everything tasted nice and fresh. Will definitely visit again if I am in the area.

Friendly staff and good service. Meal wasn't up to expectations. Yellow curry was too watery and we all had large dish of rice each which was too much. Will not eat here again.

Just got takeaway from here and was super tasty! Presented well and everything was delicious. Also the people I was served by were really nice and friendly. Great value for money too. Will be ordering again (or maybe eating in as looked nice inside!).

Lovely food served by lovely people and didn't cost an arm and a leg, a 3 course set meal (with a couple of add-ons too!) for 4 with 2 bottles of good wine for 160 quid including tip) We always come here if we are choosing Thai food and all our friends we've brought so far have loved it as much as we do! Absolutey love chiang mai cottage.

Always fantastic food at a great price!

Great food, really well presented not as spicy as I expected and not as much lemongrass flavour coming through. Staff friendly and helpful and wine a good price. Spotless and clean table and bathroom area. Quirky narrow building lots of stairs which are steep so book ahead to stay on street level if you have mobility issues.

As an Asian, I think this place has the best Asian food in Hemel. The staff here are lovely. Mind your head if you're tall though. The food is very nice until you see the food hygiene rating from the FSA which is 1 as seen from the screenshot. This is why it's not displayed on the door.

Food has changed... ordered the tom yum soup was very sweet when suppose to be hot and I asked extra hot. Massaman curry was not good potatoes hard not cooked, overall been coming here for a few years, was disappointed and when informed waiters though they offered to change but what would be different.

Fried chicken from the mixed starter was red raw, flavour was okay, rice was overcooked and densely packed into a stodgy block Massaman curry tasted okay but the lamb option had barely any meat and the quality was pretty poor, kept crunching into inedible gristle. The carrots and potatoes in it just tasted boiled rather than cooked with the curry Bought the £13 fish in bannana leaf, fish was smaller than my hand but still tasted okay

Have ordered takeaway from here previously many times and been highly impressed. But tonight received a green tofu curry which seemed what I can only describe as left overs from the night begore, the tofu had a brown/grey colouring and was not the normal texture. The duck pancake roles came with minimal meat and Thai crackers with half the amount normally served. Very disappointed. 😒

Fantastic authentic Thai restaurant and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We were dining in the restaurant before lock down and every meal was delicious. We frequently travel to Thailand and this is as good as a Thai restaurant gets outside of Thailand! We had a take away tonight and it was fabulous and consistently great quality and value for money. I highly recommend Chiang Mai Cottage.

Sadly this was not good at all. The curry was the consistency of water and tasted really watered down. Not.much flavour at all. The chilli dipping sauce was the same. The beef dry and chewy and chicken had no flavour. Im afraid we wont be back. Shame.

Really good food as always from Chiang Mai Cottage. We had pre-ordered food for collection, however as it was New Year’s Eve, so had everyone else. There was a 1hour delay despite an agreed collection time. However staff provided beer / wine on the house for waiting customers. Food was really tasty and will be going back once Tiers are changed.

The food at this restaurant is, and has always , been amazing. Brilliant place to go and eat out.

We decided to book a table before COVID lockdown v2 and was so happy. Lovely atmosphere, fabulous tasty food and adhered to the COVID rules. Only down side they won’t do delivery but only pick up. Whatever your preference, I would highly recommend this restaurant for its quality and taste of food

Excellent food, excellent pandemic measures in place

I love this place. I go at least four times a month, usually at lunch time due to the fact I work in Hemel. The guys are friendly the food is tasty. The have a large selection of food items. I think they also have a take away service. They also do Halal for those who are into that. Remember to duck your head once you are entering the premises, and mind your step :) I recommend this place . Enjoy :)
