Chi in Huntingdonshire

We dined at Chi as we weren’t from the area, and thought the menu and food sounded great. We have 2 young children, so dining out is a bit of a treat to say the least. Kids menu looked good so we took the plunge. Upon arrival everything was good, we booked for 16:30 on a weds afternoon/evening so we hoped it wasn’t busy! Only 1 other table in, who came after us. We were shown to our table and given menus. About 10 mins later they came and took our drinks order and a couple of mins later drinks arrived. Took the food order, but there was no mention of what to order if we hadn’t been here before, so we just ordered a few dishes from both the small plates and the chef specialties. Think the server was getting a bit confused with the kids menu, clearly don’t have that many children in! But eventually got there. Food came within 15 minutes and was delicious! However, we didn’t recieve a check back during the course of our meal, thankfully everything was good. We asked for the bill, which seemed to take forever, despite there only being us and 1 other table in. The waitress (different person to the person taking our order) hadn’t been there long so was having difficulty with the bill. I then felt rushed to pay, as she just stood there waiting for me look over the bill and pay. Regrettably forgetting about the 12.5% service charge! Think this is a Way of making sure that people don’t check it (hidden at the bottom of the bill) therefore making you pay the extra. Recommended for the food, but not necessarily the service.

We picked CHI as we wanted to try someone new. The food was lovely. It came out really quick, it was hot and tasted amazing!! However, the staff/service was not the best. Unfortunately, we did feel rushed when ordering, when eating and paying. We asked for more time to decide what we wanted to eat (As a group we wanted to share all out dishes and enjoy the food). When we asked for more time, the waitress just stood there. Didn't leave the table. Just watched and waited. Which made us feel really rush. Once we placed the order, the food was with us within 15 min max. Everything was great. We all really enjoyed the food. When it come to asking how everything was, the waitress started taking some of the empty plates... but we was still eating. We didn't no if this was normal for this type of restaurant but again it made us feel we had to eat up and go. Paying the bill - It took 20 min for them to bring us the bill (which in our eyes was great because it was the first time we didn't feel rushed) When they finally brought over the bill, we asked again please could you give us few min to finish out drink and double check the bill. As far as I knew, most people check the bill over to make sure they saw charged for anything they didn't have. But again, the waitress just waited at the table. Looking at us. Expecting us to pay straight away. Which for us made us feel really uncomfortable. So we quickly paid and left. Also, please be aware they have a 12.5% service charge on the bill. They do not tell you about this until it is on your bill. But again, FOOD IS AMAZING! We would go back, just for the food.

Absolutely spot on food, very tasty and flavoursome, all the dishes were very good , excellent service nothing was too much trouble will definitely be back

First time here. It was a beautiful setting. Josh the manager helped us with the menu as we had never been here before. I had chicken wings for starters then Katsu Curry and noodles for main. It was a lot of food. Everything was delicious. Josh even gave me a small portion of another dish as well. We will definitely be going back again.

First time here, impressed by the restaurant itself & the food was excellent. The service was shambolic. Once we were seated there was no offer of a drinks order. Half hour later a member of staff came to see whether we were ready to order. I remarked that we’d waited for half hour with no drinks. When our meals came out only 3/4 if the order arrived, I patiently waited for my main whilst my friend started her meal so it wouldn’t go cold. Finally mine arrived with no apology on the delay whatsoever. I’ve worked in hospitality myself and never took out an incomplete order. If you order food to your door, you don’t expect it to arrive in two separate deliveries. There was no check back through the meal to see if everything was satisfactory. We were then left ti sit at our table with our empty plates. Nobody bothered to clear them away or offer us any dessert. When the bill finally arrived, the dirty plates remained on the table. Needless to say we removed the 12.5% gratuity that gets added to the bill. The waitress didn’t seem at surprised we weren’t going to pay it. Didn’t even want to know if there was anything wrong or could have been done. Ordinarily I would pay a gratuity if I feel I’ve had good service. On this visit we most definitely did not.

Lovely food shame about the service sums this place up. Waited half an hour to get drinks and then our diner came out 25 minutes later, only one of us had our meal for 15 minutes. After eating nobody came to check if we enjoyed our meal or even take away plates. Absolutely no interest in customer satisfaction at all. Took 2.5hrs to get and finish 1 course. Paid the bill after asking twice with all our dirty plates still on the table. Oh they must of been super busy I hear you cry. Nope only 6 other people in the restaurant 😳 sadly I can’t see this place lasting unless some service customer service training is given. Very telling that on a Friday night so few people were in the restaurant. Shame concept is good.

From the moment we arrived the experience was excellent Service was speedy and when the food was served it was piping hot and very tasty. Raj was our waiter, he was very good. Overall a five star star experience.

Visited this Sunday for our friend’s baby shower and had a great time. The staff let us get there before to decorate the table and nothing was too much trouble on the day. The lady that served us was really attentive and personable which was refreshing. The food is the star of the show. We ordered what seemed like every dish on the menu as it all sounded delicious and not a single dish disappointed! Great food great service!

Came in to eat on a Sunday evening at 7:30 and rang ahead to check they had availability. Arrived and there was 3 tables seated out of the whole restaurant, stood waiting to be served and seated and the staff deliberately stood with their backs to us, wiping down tables for the whole time we stood waiting. We were there maybe 3-4 minutes waiting and they kept ignoring us over and over. I get they want to shut up on time at 9pm but how difficult is it to seat two people? It’s just awful service with staff you can tell don’t care. We walked out and scrapped our evening plan for a meal. Won’t be coming back until I hear it’s improved.

This was a mistake I will never make again. Without doubt, the worst case of food poisoning I have EVER had, and I dont say that lightly. The place was completely empty at lunch time on a Saturday which was the first clue. (Though it was New Year's Day, so not many out and about) I had the Chicken Pad Thai and I can only assume it was refrozen a couple of times - most likely due to the bank holiday weekend. From the first mouthful, the worry set in. The chicken was hard in some pieces and it stank of something cheesy and I could tell it wasnt right, but I stupidly thought I was imagining it and forced myself to eat about half the plateful before feeling too queasy to continue. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said the smell could be the fish sauce (second alarm bell - it's possible I had food poisoning from both the chicken AND the sauce). He took the plate to the "chef" who claimed she couldnt see anything wrong with it. (I really hope she tried eating some, just for the justice of it, lol) In an attempt to appease me (or maybe fob me off?) I was given a 15%-off next meal voucher. (Which will never be getting used) In any case, what followed from that afternoon and the next 3 days was more than I would want to subject the reader to in this review, but suffice it to say I did not leave the bathroom for the first 12 hours or so. Avoid this place like the plague... it wouldnt surprise me if that was there too. Yikes!

Not sure where to start tbh. On arrival I was quickly shown to my table but that’s where the positive experience ended. Ordered my meal (Duck Spring rolls and Chicken Thai Green Curry with a coke) and asked if it came with rice and was told yes. 1st issue arose when my starter arrived before my drink. On biting into the spring rolls I realised why as they were warm at best inside. I spoke to the waitress who apologised saying it was trainee chefs and took them away. 5 minutes later my main arrived with no rice and no sign of my correctly cooked starter only to be told they were coming soon. Needless to say I didn’t eat and left. I’m hoping I had an unlucky experience but I won’t be chancing it again.

Such a lovely atmosphere and even better customer service! Jack and Ella were so welcoming and had our orders ready so quickly! Would 10/10 recommend and will be returning soon x

Lovely food, great beer. Ella looked after us fantastically well. Highly recommend the Salt and pepper squid. The only reason this isn’t 5/5 is because the duck was a very small potion for the price. Overall… amazing! Thank you all

Awful experience. Sat down and asked to move as they didn’t have enough clean plates in restaurant to put any on that table. Took 20 mins for someone to take drinks order even though only 2 other tables were occupied. Still no drinks 20 mins later when they came to actually take order to tell us they had no beef or chicken in the restaurant at all so half the menu was not being served. At this point we decided to leave as the service had been awful and everything we had decided to have from the menu was off. I had reserved a table and paid a £35 deposit and had to wait a further 10 mins for this to be rectified as they couldn’t refund it in cash as they had taken it from my card however I wasn’t sure I trusted them to refund my card after the service I had received!! During this time waiting a customer actually came up to collect her own food from the counter as no one had taken over the food she had already complained was taking too long! Overall a bad experience for a family get together for my partners birthday wouldn’t recommend visiting.

Woeful. Only go if you want a terrible time. Food portion size is tiny vs the price you pay, so I had to cook when I got home! The service was maybe the worst I’ve ever seen as you need to constantly remind the staff of your order or to bring cutlery. The staff also appear very disinterested and angry. You would have to pay me to eat there again.

Absolutely awful experience. Bare in mind we we one of just 3 tables that had customers. After being seated we were soon moved as we were told there was no clean plates in the restaurant so we needed to go to a table that had been set. We then waited 10 minutes for our drinks order. After 35 minutes the waitress finally came to take our food order (the drinks still hadn’t arrived) and as we started ordering we were told that there was no chicken, prawns or beef for any of the dishes on the menu basically meaning that half the menu was off. Would have been good to tell us this as we entered the restaurant? We were hungry and angry at this point so decided to leave (just as the drinks finally arrived). We had paid a deposit upon booking and asked for it back. To our amazement one member of staff told us no as they don’t do refunds. After then demanding they refunded us they wanted it in cash as didn’t trust they would do it on the card. They had so little cash in the till we got it in shrapnel and the final couple of pound had to be asked for from a kitchen staffs pocket. A truly awful experience. Do not dine here. I’ll be surprised if they’re still open at the end of the month.

Good took ages to come out and when it did it was cold. Staff were friendly but there seemed to be more of a focus on the deliveroo drivers than customers sat in the restaurant.

Tonight 18/1/24 If I could give 0 stars I would. I went for a casual girls night with some friends. The service was awful. There was one lady completely unprofessional. Firstly the server asked if we were enjoying our meal and we hadn't even received it. Then she forgot one meal, we told them and said the response was “what tacos?” Next when the tacos eventually came it was cold and fatty and the lady said “if the food is tacos I will fire the chef”. When we complained about the food and the response was “my only excuse was the chef was tired”. We tried to enjoy the meal however after the 12th time interrupted we were becoming more uncomfortable and thought the lady was going to sit next to us. The women asked if we were going to come back again and when we said maybe, she said “she was personally offended” We were so glad to get out there. Don’t recommend going unless you want to be traumatised

Great service and food, loved the atmosphere and the set up of Chi! I've been to Chi quite a few times with a mix of friends, family and as a couple, would fully recommend for a tasty and interesting menu.

Been to Chi multiple times, always an enjoyable experience. LOVE the food, I try to always get something different each time, but I have my favourites. Always fantastic customer service, thank you to Jack on this occasion! 👍🏻 Highly recommend!

Good food, good company, good music. We ate at 7:30pm and by the end had the place mostly to ourselves. Thanks to Jack for being an attentive waiter.
