Chestnut Tree in Sandwell

We were due to attend at 14:30 but called ahead asking if we could attend earlier as we had finished up earlier than expected. We were told this was fine and just to head over when we were ready. When we got there we were advised there was an hour wait on food, unless we wanted a carvery. This was fine, so we were told to take a seat and go up when we were ready. There was cleary some confusion, as when we got to the carvery they advised we needed to pay first. No issues with this, just would have been good to have been told first as we’d never been before. We ordered on the app which was also difficult as the signal wasn’t very strong and ordered some drinks to go with our meal. The drinks took 30 minutes to reach us, at which point we had all finished our dinner. The food was great there were no issues there, but the staff were all clearly under a lot of pressure & clearly hadn’t been enough staff on for the day. They were all very polite and courteous, but just couldn’t get to anyone quick enough.

Went for a carvery around 12:00 nice n quiet, friendly staff n nice food.

We had a lovely meal to feed the kids up before braving IKEA. Donna was so lovely to our girls and really made an effort with them and they warmed to her straight away. The carvery was also tasty and good value. Thank you for a pleasurable experience The Chestnut Tree!

We were a party of 4, meeting for lunch. We all chose the Carvery, myself the veggie option , which was 2 small tarts, everything was delicious. I had reserved our table and like the idea ro be greeted when you go in. It was busier than previous visits, everything was clean and tidy too. Well done I would say...enjoyable experience.

I visited the chestnut with my family in Easter holidays. It advertisers children eat for a pound. We ordered our food 4 adults 3 children and our dog we had 4 separate orders .but we were charged full price for childrens meals, we mentioned to the waitress We thought childrens meal was a pound, she went to find out why we had been charged full amount. The manager came to our table so we asked the question again and she said we should of said at the time we ordered as they been told from head office only put child's meal through as a pound if customer asks at bar.? We have eaten at other pubs where the special children eat for a pound offer is automatically dose what it advertisers. We felt like we had paid more than we was expecting However our food was tasty and very hot .

£6.45 for a pint of peroni in here. London prices and i think it's ridiculous. £15 for two pints of peroni and half a cider. I won't come here again with the price of drinks here. Shameful.

Good value carvery with other food offerings. Small outside area with seating if you like the fresh air! Friendly staff and plenty of parking.

Typical food without any taste, steak wad without wny flavour hard, ultimate burger was like any burger you can get anywhere, ribs...again no herbs, no taste. Clean, tidy and calm place, good if you're not hungry

We used to have great service and food here and used to come around once a month. Unfortunately, we started to see the occasional issue, which we decided to overlook, but on our last visit the meat from the carvery was too tough to cut, never mind eat. Both of us had the same issue, and when the lady came around to see if everything was okay, we mentioned this to her. We were regulars, and she recognized us from multiple visits and conversations we had, so presumably also would have known that we did not previously raise any issues. She said she was sorry to hear of this but couldn't have escaped fast enough. We were left with meat we could not eat and just the vegetables to enjoy. Throughout the rest of our time there, she appeared to try and avoid coming back to our table. It was unfortunate, as we had previously enjoyed coming here, and I did previously leave a 5-star review as we had been asked to on a number of occasions, including by this same staff member. I have lowered my review down to a 3-star overall given this bad experience, but we did used to enjoy coming here. Previous review: Donna, Lauren and Maddie served us and it was great service as always

Came in with a few friends after a long morning and was greeted by Dan and he was very friendly, helpful and smiling throughout. Lauren was our server and she was fast and friendly! Everyone was very polite and I recommend it for anyone for all occasions!
