Came here for a meal with my husband I can honestly say it was the best Chinese I have ever had every bit of food was delicious. The price was very reasonable too can’t wait to come back 🤗

This is a no thrills, casual dining experience. Always a warm, friendly reception. We really like the owner and staff. They’ll chat as much as you like to but not more! The food was very good! We go often as we think it’s excellent value.

We were in the area and not knowing where to eat, read some reviews and opted for here We had take away - mixed meat fried rice, duck fried rice, chicken noodles and some ribs in a lovely sauce. All was fresh, so tasty no MSG - by far the best we have had. 1 improvement - it would be great if the menu was online and also the opening times need updating - we went Saturday 1st June, the website says open until 11.30pm but last order was 9.30pm so this does need updating. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely pay a revisit.

My family and I were welcomed extremely well by the lovely lady who runs the Resturant, The food was delicious particularly the Authentic Chinese Malay Satay dishes, Wonderful food, hospitality!

This is the only real Chinese restaurant for miles around as all the food is cooked in house to order and not trucked in as so many are It is a truly family run outfit .Serving first class food. Posh it is not Comfy cosy friendly with great value for money it most certainly is

A good friend and I last went here several years ago and is is literally half way between us, hought it would be fun to meet up. Last time wd came the owner and staff were wonderful and we had a lovely meal. Happy to say the same owner was there, immediately recognised her and she was as lovely as before. Really enjoyed the food at a good price and hopefully won't leave it as long to go again.

we have been going to the cherry tree for some months now and have to say the food is superb the atmosphere is friendly the menu is extensive we are very experienced at eating in Chinese restaurants and I can say in my opinion this is the best in south manchester

Great evening at The Cherry Tree. Albeit there was eleven of us the service was super friendy and efficient and food was fabulous. Cannot fault and look forward to returning to this little gem.

The best chinese there is! we regularly make tte 50 mile round trip to go for tea. This is because it is head and shoulders above any other chinese I have been to. The food is consistently brilliant and the service is always friendly and great. The prices are also very reasonable too

As others have touched on, it’s not cheap, and the portions aren’t massive. However, the flavours in the sauces are absolutely outstanding, and for this reason it is definitely worth it! Having spent 2 years living in China, I can confirm that these are equal to the very best flavours in Chinese cooking I have experienced. I personally found the service very pleasant and attentive. I found the decor pleasant and very acceptable. It is true that the walk to the toilets, and the facilities themselves leave a bit to be desired. Grease sodden stair carpet and cobwebs in the bathroom! Roast pork was a bit tough, duck and cod fish were outstanding. Portion sizes aren’t massive, but we both had exactly enough, so no complaints on that front. Deserts are a bit “school dinners” - I would just get a choc ice from the newsagents next time! “Ice Gateau” sounded interesting and cheap at £3.50. Well folks, we weren’t expecting miracles, and we didn’t get any either - it’s a slice of Vienetta with two wafers! In summary, it’s a bit pricey if you just fancy a Chinese, and I wouldn’t use it for a takeaway. However for a birthday meal we really enjoyed it, and felt we got a high standard of Chinese cooking.

Friendly staff, small portions, expensive! The salt and pepper chicken is really good, best salt and pepper chips i’ve had in a while, fried rice dishes and noodles were disappointing, bland, and small portions. Honestly just expensive and ok, it took an hour to get starters (average portions), although there were 3 staff serving/seating/cashier. Nice staff.. maybe it was just a busy night

I booked by telephone and the lady remembered me when we arrived. Warm welcome, service with a smile. Food was brought quickly and was very nice. We will return

Lovely friendly welcome very attentive staff throughout our visit. Both myself and my wife opted for soup for starters,I had the spicy option and my wife the suszwan chicken, both delicious. Main course comprised of noodles egg fried rice ,crispy chilli beef and mixed batter balls in a honey and soya sauce..all magnificent. Would definitely recommend and return when In the area ..well done all

I had the salt & pepper chicken, it tasted like breadcrumbs not batter & not enough veg or spice, curry sauce bland & no hint of any spice, this restaurant was supposed to have had a refurbishment but as I entered there was no sign of this, the restaurant smelt old & musky & the carpet looked as though it hadn’t had a vacuum in days as there were crumbs dotted about everywhere. I like to eat in a clean environment but sadly this restaurant didn’t do it for me.

Didn’t looked fresh and tasted weird. I think it was the people plates left over or from yesterday. I am sorry but how it look makes you taste it. I think if was fresh will be good meal.

I ordered boiled rice and salt and pepper crispy balls. This meal came to a whopping £14! I think this is far too expensive for one meal. Also a lot of batter in comparison to chicken.

Haven't visited for quite sometime. Food absolutely fantastic. Lovely staff, very friendly. Reasonable priced. The ribs, duck pancake ,everything was yummy. Definitely won't be leaving it as long next time. Thank you so much for making it a perfect evening .

Really lovely Chinese restaurant in the middle of Hale Barns. Probably the best Chinese in Trafford. Beautifully cooked dishes with lots of flavour and friendly efficient staff.

It was so nice to go out for something lovely to eat, food staff were just lovely, prices great too. Will be back again soon

Lovely food, good portions, very friendly and accommodating staff and generally great service. However, we felt the food was a little over priced, even for the set menu (about 20% more than what we would generally expect).

We decided to get out the house for some food and my partner had been here in his Younger days and it’s not chained one bit it’s stuck in time and I absolutely loved every bit Of it it’s not boujey one bit but it’s so warm and comfortable and the staff are very welcoming a little pricey but definitely worth every penny would totally recommend

DISPITE THIS the staff kept their Cool and handled the situation in the in such a manner that it did not spoil the other diners evening WELL DONE ALL

We had a great meal. We have a mixed platter for two then main course and sides. Definitely nice food and only a few minutes from our hotel. Service was great and friendly. Food warm. Would we visit again?. Definitely.

Hot tasty fresh food with good choice. Frustrating you cannot view the menu on the website - takes you to hungry horse which drives me mad! Service efficient & friendly. Decor a little dated but ok. Clean and tidy. Will definitely be back ... and not leave it so long next time between visits.

Although the decor is a bit dated don't let that put you off. The food served here is delicious. Lots of choice and when the food does arrive it is hot, and very tasty.The staff are so lovely, helpful and knowledgeable. This was my first visit to the restaurant as I am not local, but I will definitely becoming bacik.

Cosy small local Chinese restaurant serving food inside and take away. Very good quality fresh food. Crispy duck was nice and crispy, scollops fresh and delicate, beef in black been sauce was good. As for Chinese restaurant I had a feeling it was a bit expensive however worth it.

Consistently good for 35 years that I’ve been going since I was a child. Also all available as a takeaway . Very fair prices.

We came here as we were staying at Manchester airport and had read good reviews on trip advisor so decided to give it a try.We phoned the night before and made a booking and just as well because tables were busy and it's only a small restaurant.The menu was very good and had various choices.My wife decided on duck in a sizzling hot plate and I had the spicy tom yum soup then king prawns on a sizzling hot plate accompanied by fried rice,a nice bottle of house red and a couple of bottles of tiger beer went down well to.The food was very nice and there was plentiful duck and prawns.The one thing I found strange was that when they brought the bill it only showed the total so I have no idea how much the wine or beer cost as nothing was itemised so had to be taken on trust.

I have seen a review by Leanne K on here and I find it distasteful. There is nothing wrong with the carpets or toilets, the tablecloths are changed after every customer. I have been coming in here weekly. Pat is a wonderful host and so friendly to everyone. Any customer not liking the place needs to look at themselves closely. Great food and Service as always

Decorated very simply and traditionally. The restaurant serves some of the best food of this cuisine in South Manchester.

Love love it here , the food is truly exceptional, Yes ! the decor is old school Chinese, with a bright carpet the restaurant has been there for 40 years, forget about the decor !Concentrate on the food which is outstanding , Pat and her team are friendly and chatty, she has a huge laugh. Large portions cooked to order , you can swap and change your main ingredients.Will be back !

I’m truly shocked at how dirt this restaurant is. The carpet is sodden with dirt, grease and food mater.

We were greated with a very cheery face and we got nothing but excellent service and amazing, properly cooked Chinese food. Would highly recommend the Tom yum chicken and West Lake beef soup, then we had huge portions of fabulous mixed meats kung po and really tasty chicken with ginger and garlic and rice. Such a shame we live in Edinburgh, we came on the recommendation of a friend as we are staying in Manchester on our way home from our holiday. Would highly recommend.

The food is very good here but it is pretty expensive really. Good for a little treat though. Probably the best Chinese food I have had before. Interesting art and furniture here too.

OMG the woman on the front desk in the body warmer is beyond rude.

Friendly staff and great food. The salt and pepper soft shell crab is the best we've ever had and is a must have for every visit.

We love coming to this restaurant, and always receive a lovely warm welcome. The food is always fresh and tasty, and the staff are really friendly. If anyone is thinking of visiting who is disabled, then there is not a disabled toilet downstairs.

Over cooked dim sum. Dry Char Sui, rubbbery seafood rice. How can they get such everyday staples so wrong? Since this place is local we try it every 5 years but it never gets any better. Altogether not a pleasant evening.

Had a large family takeaway from the Cherry Tree this weekend and was really impressed. Everyone enjoyed the meal, the portions were good, the meat content was high and took about 20mins to make.

The cherry tree is a lovely place to go. The food is always great. They do amazing salt/pepper ribs 👍😀 the staff are always very friendly and extremely helpful and they never hurry you up with your meal .

Bitterley dissapointed. Hadn't been for a number of years and the food was absolutely terrible. Lovely staff - shame about the chef. Will NEVER go back now sadly.

The food is good, have tried a number of dishes as visited a few times and enjoyed them all. Sizzling dishes are nice. Service is very friendly. Only visited mid week so has been fairly quiet but food always comes out nice and quick. Would recommend.

First & last visit to this place.....I ordered Crispy Wan Ton for starter received a plate of burnt batter, mentioned to the waitress it was burnt she agreed, removed my plate & then proceeded with the second course!!!

This place has really tasty food. Service is fast and efficient. The quality of food is really high - we always order seafood fried rice (spicy) and noodles (no beef). Most of the time we have a take away and the food is prepared fast to consistent standards. The Peking duck and soft shell crabs are absolutely divine as are all the other dishes we have tried.

Not been here for years and decided to have our Christmas party here.. Can’t put into words how nice the food was.Freshly cooked Chinese specials and a welcome not to be beaten can’t ask for more.. Won’t be long before returning

Had a really nice meal during airport stop over. The owner was lovely and chatty. She left us to eat our meal then made conversation when we had finished. We were made to feel really welcome and as it was a cold night my mum who is in her 70s was offered a place to sit next to the heating.

We visited cherry tree for a friends birthday We arrived at 6pm and was quiet but soon picked up waiter was very attentive and food was amazing Would definitely recommend

I went here with 10 of my family members, the restaurant is quite small so we had to sit at two separate tables of different shapes pushed together which was not too much of a problem but did stop everyone from talking to each other, we ordered drinks to start and two of the drinks didn’t arrive so we had to ask for them again, there was another 20 minutes wait before they took our orders for starters, one of the waitresses was really friendly but the others weren’t as great and didn’t seem as interested, two of our family members had ordered starters that were similar (one being chicken and the other being a veggie alternative) and the waitress wrongly told us that the chicken based one was the vegetarian one, which resulted in a vegetarian eating meat before realising it was the wrong dish...this could have ended in disaster if he was allergic to chicken ?! We had another long wait before ordering the mains however the mains were beautiful and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them , it is a shame that the lacking service made such a terrible mistakes otherwise I would have given the place more stars
