Solid fish and chips with decent service.

Stopped here for lunch today and the food was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Cutting corners in food quality

Excellent service and take away food. Salt and chilli chicken and chips is really tasty. Great value for money. Highly recommend.

Had some cheesy chips and a portion of sausages for my dog. The dog loved the sausages and she is fussy. The chips were dry and tasted bland, very little cheese chucked over the top.

I wasn't in Chequers. I was in the petrol station next door. But I have eaten from Chequers before, and it was brilliant.

The family isn’t often down that way but when we checked out the highly rated reviews on google we had yo try it out . We were not disappointed I ordered fish snd chips snd my daughter had the fish coupons. The portion sizes are big and the battered fish was to die’s for. It’s great to know the fish is locally sourced. I would travel the country again just for this battered fish at Chequers. Articlace. Wonderful friendly staff . Very clean premises . I d defo give it a 5 star . Thank you to the staff.

Not from that area but stopped for lunch had mini munch box very nice good feed too wife says her goujons were really tasty too so would definitely be back when in that area

Food is cooked fresh and generous portions. My go to chippy when I'm in the area.

Ordered a large chip. Cost £4.50! When it came it was barely a small portion! Won’t be back!!! Gareth’s much better value for money.

Phoned in for the food was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. It was ready as soon as I arrived everyone enjoyed Thier food. Good sized portions very tasty.

I know everything has gotten more expensive, but nearly a fiver for a small bag of chips half filled is ridiculous.

Without doubt one of the worst chip shops about. Continually phoned this place for over an hour. No answer,and yes I’ve been in here before and the phone tingling off the hook. No reflection on the staff but it’s an ongoing thing. Hopefully it won’t last 👌

Really nice chips, reasonable prices and a fair waiting time... chicken fillet burger is battered though and not breaded. 😭 (But that's personal preference, I'm sure loads of people would prefer battered chicken fillet burgers over breaded chicken fillet burgers. It would be great though if chip shops everywhere made it clear whether chicken fillets burgers are breaded or battered). Friendly staff, will be back again, just maybe not ordering the chicken fillet burger next time! 🤣🤣

Fish was great, portion size good but seemed a little dry. Very expensive compared to what I'm used to for fish and chips. F&C 3x and sausage and chips was £43.

The mega box is brilliant value in the “cost of living crisis” era. Comes with quality chips, chicken nuggets, sausages etc. Very greasy however so if you aren’t a fan of grease look away now.

This is one of the best chippies I've ever been to. Beautiful fish and chips which could pass in any restaurant, fantastic pasties, quick service, beautifully cooked to perfection and great quantities for a very reasonable price. Absolutely first rate! 😋

Food was not good and they get every meal wrong. I ordered chicken zinger fillet but got chicken fillet, ordered Big box for one with battered sausages got plain sausages, ordered fish and chips with vinigar and salt got only salt and ordered large chips only salted no vinigar got chips with nothing on it. And the chips was hard and dry. I would go there again but will definitely advice to check your receipt to make sure you get what you ordered.

Always great food. As with everywhere else, the prices have increased significantly over the past year.

Had the salt & chilli chicken...had to go back as they had forgot the gravy?????...wasn't great, chips had been refried and the chicken although tender enough was not home made. You can't sell prebought product and project it as local. Way to many Chequers to pretend it's a family caring business, there was a time, but that time has passed. Sorry guys, not for me any more.

The portions are huge and always freshly cooked.

Good but expensive and portions on the small side.

Mega box was great value. However, kids didn't like the taste of the cheese used for the cheesy chips.

Just had the worst chicken goujons, chip and a dip that I've ever had. Already parked up to enjoy a treat in front of the sea, when I opened the box to find the chicken as in the photos Non of them good but those 2 were the worst and the small dip provided is a joke Years since I've eaten out of chequers and it'll be just as long again - appalling to serve that to a customer 1 star is 1 too many

Tried to phone the order in but no one picks the phone up. I drove along (as its a mile from where we stay) only to find no one in the place. Whilst there the phone rang but none of the staff picked it up. The fish was very dry and was very disappointed as they are usually very good

Good quality. Although it is a busy place it doesn't take long to be served.

Great wee chippy, food is really tasty, batter is crisp and doesn't feel greasy at all. Chicken burgers are lovely, beef burgers not so much but hard to get everything right. Will definitely be using again

Have completely give up trying to get through to this place on the phone. Every time we stay in benone at caravan they never answer the phone, and everyone we speak to says the same. If i were the owner of this place i would be livid at the amount of business lost due to staff not being bothered to answer and take an order. And im not being lazy, just trying to save time, but everytime we couldnt get through we drove up and nobody was in the place so not to say they are busy. wont be back and i know most of benobe are saying the same.

One of the most amazing restaurants that I ate from, I ordered fries with curry sauce and cod fish with fries and everything was very tasty, I wish to order from them again, but unfortunately I live far from them

Great food out of this place, it was busy but the service was quick and the food was served hot and it was delicious.

Really surprised as to the quality of the food that I was able to get from chequers, I was expecting it to be greasy and not much flavour but the fish was actually very well cooked, the batter was crispy and had a good flavour and the chips were nicely seasoned.

Typical over priced, hyped up North West Chippy. The fish is sub par. The Burgers are made with cheap meat. The chips are never cooked properly. Chicken goujons are always greasy. The staff always seem to have something better to be doing other than work. Edit: For the reply from the owner. The burger was over cooked and lacking in taste. Orders are only right half of the time. The fish has been greasy every time I've ordered. For clarity, I'm referring to Articlave not others. The one at Riverside is a world of difference to this one. Maybe check that your staff are doing their job properly. I do not write bad reviews without a valid reason. I've seen many companies win multiple awards and still get shut down. Winning an award is one thing. Maintaining that standard is another. Thank you for your reply.

Lunchtime specials are affordable but i didn't enjoy the curry sauce. Not to my taste. Everything was cooked from fresh👍

Price has shot up massively used to go all the time but now use Gareths as get more food for cheaper and is just as nice if not better

Lovely crispy dry chips, large portions. We could easily have ordered half of what we did & we all would still have been well fed! Friendly, helpful staff.....we'll definitely be back!!

Whilst on holiday in Castlerock I had battered sausage and chip from here, and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Tasty grub AND freshly cooked too ! 👍 Thumbs up for this eatery 👍

Went to here for the first time since lockdown in March. What a letdown, this used to be one of the best chippies in NI but since the lockdown it has went downhill fast. The prices have rose dramicially with a fish supper now costing nearly £8 with chips £3.30 and a reduced menu. The fish now a thin sliver were it used to be thick chunky flakes. Don't mind a price rise if the portion was as before lockdown, won't be hurry to go back. In case this was a fluke tried their Riverside branch with the same result.

2 cod and chips over cooked. Small fillets of very thin dry fish and large amount of batter. If it wasnt so busy in there would have returned them both Ate there before and was fine.

Chequers is exactly what you think it will be. If you are looking for a Chippy that turns your order round efficiently, and gives you a decent fish and chips or burger etc then Chequers does that. And at a good price by staff you I personally found charming.
