A great wee place for lunch. Fantastic food and service, highly recommend. Love that it’s byob. The cakes were amazing!

My husband and I stumbled across chef jefs for some Sunday lunch, very glad we did. Lovely mac and cheese and very tasty smashed avocado with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. We'll worth a visit.

Went for lunch and were very disappointed. There were no diet drinks available and we were left to drink the stale water on the table. Surroundings were cold with no atmosphere. Food took a while to come and was luke warm and no extra parmesan or black pepper was offered for the pasta. Dirty teaspoon had been left on the table. Service was very poor. Will not be back as were very disappointed.

These premises are no longer open. There is a notice in the window that it is re-opening as a coffee shop. Opening Date is unknown It will not trade as Shef Jefs

This cafe looks promising but has become erratic re whether open and has staff serving which while polite have no ability to convey enthusiasm or contribute to a pleasant atmosphere. I am always keen to try a new cafe and have eaten good and healthy lunch snacks here but also had a scone which had the taste and texture of a brick- I suspect the home baking is of similar quality. The owner seems to have talked a good game on opening but in subsequent months it has just failed to fly. I note most recent reviews are not impressed either and frankly Im surprised this place is still trading.

Having booked and left mobile #, based on other experiences, it was no great surprise to find the door locked and the place in darkness10 mins before table time. No change during the next 20 mins observing over a glass of wine in pub opposite. Plan b then activated and we dined elsewhere. What a disaster of what could be a neat small business and a real shame that it is run so chaotically!

Booked dinner for four with our friends only to find the place locked up and in darkness at the appointed hour. What a waste of time. It's just as well there are other proper restaurants nearby. This guy needs to take a long hard look at himself.

Booked this restaurant as going out with friends to see Lulu in Lanark Memorial Hall. Sent message by Messenger, text, phone he eventually came back to me and confirmed booking for 4 people for 6pm last night Saturday,11th November. Arrived at the restaurant at 5.53pm to find lights on, door locked. We came back 10 minutes later, knocked door and window no response. Phoned, texted, waited no response. Because of Lulu's show there was not a table to be found in any other restaurant!!! Thanks Chef Jef....... not the way to treat paying customers. Do not give this restaurant your custom they do not deserve it!!

A quiet weekend brunch would have been improved by service with a smile! There was no clue as to it being table or order at desk, on asking for brekkie menu, a very brusque ‘it’s on the table’ is not the best opening gambit, we at this point figured it was take a seat and order at the desk..... Great to have water on the table, but would have helped to have glasses to drink from, without having to ask for them. Food itself was well presented, and the coffee is the best I’ve had, however it’s not enough to entice me back anytime soon....

Cracking food and nice friendly service, nothing was too much bother. The BYOB is a bonus as well. I will definitely be back.

We’ll eventually found it open- we phoned and booked although they don’t normally take lunch bookings! Took our own booze as advertised and told couldn’t do that until 6pm but they’d let us off!!! Hello BYOB IS WHAT IT SAYS put a notice up if it’s not allowed prior to 6pm. Anyway we both wanted the steak sandwich and asked if we could have it blue answer after consulting chef Jef came back yes but only had one so fine. Ordered one chicken and chorizo and one blue steak one. They had to go out and buy the chorizo from Lidl as they’d run out! Sandwiches duly arrived and steak was well done and to my personal taste inevitable- shoe leather springs to mind. They denied saying they were able to do it blue despite my asking and they confirmed it would be. And me saying on ordering blue steak. Refused to accept it and eventually asked if I wanted anything else- answer no. I did eat my husbands red cabbage coleslaw which tasted nice However within an hour of eating it I had horrendous diarrhoea and as that’s their only thing I’ve eaten today I can only put the upset stomach down to this. Didn’t appreciate the drug related music in the background My advice is to walk on by don’t even bother to stop. I’ll never ever go there again. In bed with a iffy stomach and ruined Saturday night. Just don’t go there- most rubbish place in Lanark

I cannot tell you how many times my wife and I have tried to sample the food here. We love to eat out as you will see from the number of TA reviews I have done in the past, but each time we have tried to eat here the place has been closed. I cannot understand just how this place does business. Last Saturday my wife and I tried one more time to go for lunch here. We arrived at 13:00 to find a very rough scribbled note on the door with the opening times for the week (not a very professional way of doing things for a new business trying to compete in my opinion). For Saturdays, it clearly stated that the place was open from 10:30 through to 15:00 hrs. There were no lights on - absolutely nothing. We came back several times within the next hour, but just the same - door locked and no light and no additional notice to say that the place was closed for whatever reason. It's simply not worth the effort as we have tried so many times. For someone who has stated the following: "After graduating from Jamie Olivers London Fifteen, Chef Jefs Fresh has opened up in Lanark @ 26 bloomgate lanark ml11 9et", I feel that the words "opened up" are not quite the appropriate choice of words!!!! I just wish that we had kept a note of all the times we had tried to sample the food here - which let's be honest may actually be excellent but we will never know. I'm sure that the Chef concerned will have learnt a lot from The Jamie Olivers London Fifteen course, but one thing is for sure there couldn't have been a great deal on the course in terms of business management.

Will definitely not be going back, gave my order to woman behind till and made clear NO nuts were to be near the food as there was an allergy to nuts so man brings our food and asks what sauce was to be in one item and after we said he then says he put Nutella on it and made it next to an idem that was for me who has a nut allergy and we watched this happening, they then argued with us when I said if anything happens to me I could end up in hospital and said to my boyfriend if anything was to get remade we would need to pay again, not happy with this place and will not be returning would not recommend.
