We loved this place. They were open late when not much else was, the food was great and they were so nice.

This is mainly a take-away cafe. No restroom. Delicious food, the wings are amazing. Well cooked and seasoned. The fish & chips needed a bit of salt but still good. The Chicken Shish Kabab was tasty as well.

It doesn't impress with its traditional Scottish decor, but it stands out for its quality of meals and level of service. Delicious burgers. Pizzas the same. And it doesn't empty your pockets for its proximity to all the monuments. And the service? Super friendly and with a sense of humor. I really recommend it. Super delicious food. upon our first visit I knew this was now my chip shop in Edinburgh. Fish was perfect and the family running it made you feel so welcome. I hope they stay so we can return every summer.

Quite genuinely the best place to eat in Edinburgh- the people are lovely, the food delicious, and it’s sooo fast! You can see it all getting made which really adds to the experience too :) 10/10!!

Couldn’t get in at a high collar spot across the street, and crossed over to Chef Bako’s! We were the lucky ones!!! We were greeted warmly by the Chef and staff! We each ordered the traditional Fish and Chips. Takes a few minutes to prepare, and then fry the fish and chips to a perfect brown and crispness. Served with a wedge of lemon, a cup of really, really good cocktail sauce, and a cup of Mashy peas (we had never tried them, and are fans now!). Price was reasonable , and the food was plentiful!!! We are here for 2 weeks and will definitely be back to see our new bestest friends!!! Looking forward to trying one of their pizzas!!!! Give it a try with friends, sit inside and relax at the table against the wall, and get to know Chef Bali and his wonderful staff!!!

Freshly battered fish&chips made in minutes! I must admit, that I had the best fish&chips in my lifetime here!! 12 GBP is a fair price, too. Strongly recommended!

I had originally tried fish and chips for the first time in London prior to this shop and I originally thought that it was just a British flop. However, I was very wrong. After reading the other reviews of this place, and especially about the fish and chips, I figured it was worth a try. I was welcomed by the owner and he was super friendly and outgoing. It's a shame that I found myself to be the only one at the restaurant, since the fish and chips blew me away! The seating is definitely tight, but don't let that stop you from trying this place.

There is no toilet no wifi. They told me wifi password but it doesn’t work at all. There is no toilets around there as well. This place for people who don’t go to toilet to be honest. Coffee was tasteless…

The staff are so friendly and the food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. We just got chips this time but everything looked great, and the chips were the rarer variety these days that actually tasted fresh and like potato! Wee unassuming place from the outside but cannot fault it in the slightest.

Smiling, warm staff. Came in for a hot drink to warm me up on a windy night. Glad they stay open late! Will definitely come back for the food. Their menu has such variety! Arancini/Italian rice balls, fish and chips, fried mars bars, Turkish coffee, simit, waffles, doner, etc.

Magnificent experience, super good food and even better service. The owner of the establishment helped us a lot, especially to catch a train to Glasgow from Edinburgh. We would have liked to try the tea, it looked excellent but I'm sure I wouldn't sleep for three days. However, my score is 11 out of 10.

The food have a big potential. Unfortunately meat was very dry. Like a beef jerky dry. I had to chew for a long time. Good portion of grilled shawarma meat. Meat spiced very well, same as the extra salad.

My first time trying after 100s of time passing by, great food! Very professional chef, great gilling technique! This is NOT the average Kebab house! Lam chop perfectly grilled would love them being thicker though, I would take less pieces in exchange for the thickness. Will come again!

I had an outstanding experience! I am a Turkish person who is not easy to be pleased with Turkish food due to having high standards. Chef Bako's food is mind blowing!!! Excellent! We stopped in for a late evening take-away. The proprietors were so lovely, and the food was on point. Their menu is extensive and very reasonably priced. The dining area is minimal, however—bar seating only—so keep that in mind. Completely unpretentious and delicious. You won't regret coming here. 👍👍

If you love fish, this is the place for you. We had the grilled fish sandwich and chicken doner with chips. It was just perfectly cooked with the right spices. The hospitality by Chef himself was so warm. A must try in Edinburgh, plus very reasonable priced!

The best fish and chips we have had in the UK, very good value, better than you would expect on a tourist street. Comes in a nice to go box. Meat cooked over charcoal was also nice, the food is cooked in front of you, not in the back.

First time trying this 22/7/23 and not a recommendation for me to try as I accidentally bumped into it as I was searching for food. Very glad I did bump into it as the food that was given to me was plentiful, tasty and good value for money and quality. The place has zero access for wheelchair users unfortunately but if you wanted to give it a try and accept the challenge to get in it would be worth it for the food. Staff were very good at their job. Conversation was flowing. They thought I was a tourist as this place gets a lot of them. Honnêtement, à la vue des notes que Google, je suis allée les yeux fermés dans ce snack. J'aurai dû garder les yeux fermés et passer mon chemin. Nous avons commandé un wrap et un panini. Le chef est venu vérifier que le prix appliqué était le bon, a remarqué que la femme avait mis un panini tomate mozza au lieu de tomate mozza basilic et a changé le prix à 1£50 de plus, tout ça pour nous dire ensuite qu'il n'avait plus de basilic une fois que nous avions payé. Nous avons payé plus de 25€ pour deux pauvres sandwichs sans grand goût et plutôt secs et une boisson. En résumé : c'est cher, malhonnête et pas fameux.
