There were many tiring things. But I recovered after eating fish and chips. It felt really good. The flesh is really soft and the potatoes are delicious.

Fish & chips are highly recommended and the margarita pizza is the best I've ever had. You could eat on site, but it is very narrow, so we recommend take-away. The boss is also really nice.

We arrived at 9:30 pm on Monday, when most of the taverns and restaurants around were already closed. They attended us very kindly. We ordered fish and chips and a pizza to take away. Even though we have tried better fish and chips in Edinburgh, the quality-price relation was good.

Bit into my chicken swarma and omg so juicy and flavoursome and literally the sauce is dripping over my hands and all the flavour combos are perfect. Had the best chat with the nicest ever family owners. I would come back to Edinburgh purely for this swarma. I’m not kidding.

The food is very good, the price is very reasonable compared to the portion offered, and for students, there is a 10% reduction (proof). The welcome, the service, the owner, everyone is very friendly and kind. The owner helped me a lot and was very supportive from the moment I arrived (out of battery, lost etc.), guided me to my residence and even now, I go there from time to time. I highly recommend. ☺️

Staff was so nice and even offered to make a breakfast panini even though it was like, 5:00. We settled for Fish and Chips and kebabs. Almost came back the next day, that's how good it was. If I'm ever back in Edinburgh, this place will be a priority for us.

Great portion sizes and wonderful service. Would definitely recommend. I had chicken kebabs which had great flavor and a smokey taste. Love that with fresh grilled food. In fact we almost ate it twice in a row but being in a new country we wanted to explore other foods.

The staff is friendly and fun. For food, I had chicken wings and it was the most delicious chicken I've ever had. Lamb also makes a great lamb chop. A restaurant you must visit at least once when you go to Scotland. There is also a vegetarian menu.

Decent food, best pitta bread I ever had. Delivery poor. I gave crystal clear simple intructons with the order, but the driver wasted about 10 minutes at the wrong building 200 yds from me! DUH!!!

The traditional fish & chips is so good and Bako is very nice and we had a great time and discussion while waiting for our dishes to cook. Such a cosy and friendly place, we'll definitely come back when we visit again!

This is mainly a take-away cafe. No restroom. Delicious food, the wings are amazing. Well cooked and seasoned. The fish & chips needed a bit of salt but still good. The Chicken Shish Kabab was tasty as well.

upon our first visit I knew this was now my chip shop in Edinburgh. Fish was perfect and the family running it made you feel so welcome. I hope they stay so we can return every summer.

Couldn’t get in at a high collar spot across the street, and crossed over to Chef Bako’s! We were the lucky ones!!! We were greeted warmly by the Chef and staff! We each ordered the traditional Fish and Chips. Takes a few minutes to prepare, and then fry the fish and chips to a perfect brown and crispness. Served with a wedge of lemon, a cup of really, really good cocktail sauce, and a cup of Mashy peas (we had never tried them, and are fans now!). Price was reasonable , and the food was plentiful!!! We are here for 2 weeks and will definitely be back to see our new bestest friends!!! Looking forward to trying one of their pizzas!!!! Give it a try with friends, sit inside and relax at the table against the wall, and get to know Chef Bali and his wonderful staff!!!

Freshly battered fish&chips made in minutes! I must admit, that I had the best fish&chips in my lifetime here!! 12 GBP is a fair price, too. Strongly recommended!

I had originally tried fish and chips for the first time in London prior to this shop and I originally thought that it was just a British flop. However, I was very wrong. After reading the other reviews of this place, and especially about the fish and chips, I figured it was worth a try. I was welcomed by the owner and he was super friendly and outgoing. It's a shame that I found myself to be the only one at the restaurant, since the fish and chips blew me away! The seating is definitely tight, but don't let that stop you from trying this place.

There is no toilet no wifi. They told me wifi password but it doesn’t work at all. There is no toilets around there as well. This place for people who don’t go to toilet to be honest. Coffee was tasteless…

The staff are so friendly and the food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. We just got chips this time but everything looked great, and the chips were the rarer variety these days that actually tasted fresh and like potato! Wee unassuming place from the outside but cannot fault it in the slightest.

Smiling, warm staff. Came in for a hot drink to warm me up on a windy night. Glad they stay open late! Will definitely come back for the food. Their menu has such variety! Arancini/Italian rice balls, fish and chips, fried mars bars, Turkish coffee, simit, waffles, doner, etc.

We would have liked to try the tea, it looked excellent but I'm sure I wouldn't sleep for three days. However, my score is 11 out of 10.

The food have a big potential. Unfortunately meat was very dry. Like a beef jerky dry. I had to chew for a long time. Good portion of grilled shawarma meat. Meat spiced very well, same as the extra salad.

My first time trying after 100s of time passing by, great food! Very professional chef, great gilling technique! This is NOT the average Kebab house! Lam chop perfectly grilled would love them being thicker though, I would take less pieces in exchange for the thickness. Will come again!

I had an outstanding experience! I am a Turkish person who is not easy to be pleased with Turkish food due to having high standards. Chef Bako's food is mind blowing!!! Chef Bako and his wife are very friendly, service is great and the traditional atmosphere of the place is so cosy. I am already looking forward to eating there again.

Excellent! We stopped in for a late evening take-away. The proprietors were so lovely, and the food was on point. Their menu is extensive and very reasonably priced. The dining area is minimal, however—bar seating only—so keep that in mind. Completely unpretentious and delicious. You won't regret coming here. 👍👍

If you love fish, this is the place for you. We had the grilled fish sandwich and chicken doner with chips. It was just perfectly cooked with the right spices. The hospitality by Chef himself was so warm. A must try in Edinburgh, plus very reasonable priced!
