Charlie's Tapas Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

Sad it's now closed! we had a couple of good meals here! Made a change from fish & chips! We wish them all the best in their future efforts!

Fresh ingredients, friendly staff and mixture of authentic dishes and 1/2 price Sangrea on Saturdays. Highly recommend.

Where do I start. From the moment I text Sharon asking for a reservation to the moment we left after the meal we had faultless service. We went to Charlie’s for my wife’s birthday, living a 3hr driveaway I looked at all the local restaurant reviews and decided to choose here. It didn’t live up the the expectations. It exceeded them by miles. Special mention to Aimee too for the great table service. And thank you all for the lovely touches with the birthday banner and the brownie birthday cake. Really made the evening. With regards to the food itself. It was so tasty and amazing value. Would highly recommend to everyone

Short break to Great Yarmouth and saw Charlie's tapas on our first day. Decided to go on Thursday and were definitely not disappointed. Food was stunning and we were made to feel very welcome. Left feeling very full but very happy and will highly recommend to any anyone coming on holiday here.

Little gem in Great Yarmouth. Lots of restaurants to choose from but so glad we chose this one. Firstly , a great welcome, friendly, attentive and super helpful. Amazing food, each dish was so delicious and very filling. Be sure you save room for the desserts. They are so nice, the best churros I’ve ever head ( and I’ve had them in Spain ! )

Had a brilliant meal - lovely atmosphere - and really great service.

Better than most Tapas restaurants in Spain! The food is exceptional and couldn’t be faulted. As a family of four we went for the 3,2,1 menu which means you each pick 3 dishes in the first round, then each pick 2 dishes in the 2nd, then a 3rd and final dish each to finish. You can switch your last plate for a mini desert, which we all did and after delicious squid, pork, prawn, potato, meatballs and calamari dishes along with bread , olives and dips- we finished with warm sugary Churros and chocolate and Biscof sauce! Sharon the owner couldn’t have been more helpful and made us feel right at home. We can’t wait to come back and do it again!

What an absolute gem of a place. Had dinner here last night and the food was amazing. 2 for £10 on cocktails along with great attentive service made a very pleasurable dining experience. Hats off to the owners who ever introduced themselves to us. We will be back! Lewis and family

After walking up and down the seafront a few times and failing to find anywhere that looked worthwhile, we finally stumbled across Charlie's via a Google search of top rated restaurants and let's just say that I'm glad we didn't go somewhere else and pay £25+ for a sirloin steak 💀 Initially we (2 ppl) shared 6 dishes but we then decided on another 3 because "muy delicioso". The mozzarella sticks were fab, the patatas bravas was an absolute winner and their alioli was a full on experience! Great staff, lovely and attentive which made for an all round lovely experience. If you're in Great Yarmouth and want to have a relaxed evening with friends, make sure you check out Charlie's 👏

Myself and my wife visited this restaurant and we had the best tapas meal ever I especially enjoyed the salt and pepper squid. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone

Tapas Great Yarmouth Stopped over for one night in Great Yarmouth. Where do you go to eat? Found this lovely little tapas on the main high street. To be really honest,we didn't have any high expectations. Looking at the menu, it seemed quite cheap. We went for their six different tapas for £25, add extra dishes £4.95 Chorizo in red wine & garlic Salt & Pepper Squid Chilli & Garlic Prawns Garlic King Prawns Garlic Chicken Traditional Patatas Bravas Which came with Bread & Alioli This was all £25. Couldn't believe the quality of food that came out of the kitchen. Just look at those prawns. So, of course, we had to try more dishes. Potato and Chorizo gratin. £4.95 We could have sat there all night trying different dishes. Finished off with the churros £5.50. 6 Churros coated in cinnamon served with chocolate dipping sauce. For what we ordered, this would have been at least double the price compared to most other places. The staff and owner were so friendly. This was a great find, and would recommend a visit if you should find yourselves in Great Yarmouth.

Went to Charlie's on Saturday 10th June, great food great service and great price. The staff were wonderful and the food was delicious, 6 tapas bottle of wine, sweets and coffee for less than 60 quid, unbeatable value.

Very friendly team and food was nice. However, lacking in depth of Flavour and quality compared to our local tapas bar which is authentic Spanish cuisine and staff. Think of this as a simplified and English version of tapas.

Been twice to this gem in Yarmouth. Family owned tapas restaurant, you can feel the family touch in coarse ground garlic seasoning on your asparagus, mushrooms or prawns. Indulging cocktails, wine and plenty of smiles. I wish we could visit more often.

Great portions of tapas. Taste very very good. Best sangria we have had anywhere for a very long time ( proper measures of alcohol ) For what you get very reasonable prices. Excellent owners and staff. Very well maintained and clean. Wish this restaurant was where we lived as we go out every week and have to put up with wetherspoons because other places are too expensive and not worth it.

Not a place from the outside that I would normally look twice at but we fancied tapas and convenient - ended up as one of the best overall meals I have had a long time. Staff were thoughtful and kind and the atmosphere was excellent with Spanish feel. Would strongly recommend

10/10 quality food, ridiculously enjoyable, as a coeliac ordered 3 portions and completly safe, I get can instant reactions from just 1 bread crumb yet I went completly fine from this lovely food, 10/10 seating and facilities also.

Absolutely amazing! Was recommended by my brother who went on a stag do earlier in the year, the food was gorgeous and the staff couldnt do enough for us. We come to Yarmouth regularly and this will definitely be one of our stops every time!

What a lovley tapas restaurant we come on sat the 22nd May..glad we rung and booked as we had the last table .. Very accommodating and amazing food comes out when u r ready . We visited for a birthday. I don't have good experience with tapas in the UK but wife insisted. This was quite original. The patatas bravas amazing and the squid. Only one thing I didn't like, I don't even remember it. You can get a bottle of wine relatively cheap. 5 star service in a very friendly/family way.

We visited this restaurant twice whilst on holiday - absolutely fantastic food and the service was second to none. The Our kids have a dietary condition and the staff went out of their way to cater for them. All of the food was delicious and freshly cooked. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough!

Prices on menu seemed good until the small portions arrived,as for all you can eat menu very limited on variety of food as in soon got bored of eating same items , waitress kept leaning over my food to pass food on table instead of going round individual person at are table, Disappointed.

I'd give this 6 stars if i could. Sharon (the owner) is lovely and her staff are very friendly. The food is delicious and they have a great range of beers, cocktails, mocktails and wines. The price is very good for the 3-2-1 deal. We go here a lot!!

All the great reviews have made this place sound like it’s the best restaurant in town but upon entering, the thing that took most time was understanding the ordering process. The food arrived in less than 5 minutes and we were done eating in 15. Talking of food, I genuinely think I ate supermarket bought calamari, mozzarella sticks and chorizo rice. I mean it’s below average- average frozen-thawed food.I would be interested to hear what others think- real reviews please

Apon reading the reviews we were very excited to try this place. My 30th birthday spent in lockdown we thought this year we would go on holiday but given the restrictions were still hit and miss wasn't worth the risk with jobs. So my husband spent some time searching for a nice reasturant for us to go and enjoy. This one with Tapas seemed to fit the bill. Although we are still wondering if we turned up at the right restaurant - because everything that was mentioned in previous reviews was the complete opposite to what we experienced! Staff - happy and friendly. Even with masks you can tell if someone is smiling! And the 2 young waitresses were definitely not happy or friendly. My husband said thanks to one and she literally said nothing, the awkwardness lead me to laughter. How rude she was. I actually wondered if she could speak at all. The other I'm not sure she could hear as we didn't get what we ordered, she actually gave us more (at our cost). We wasn't told about the fact there was no mushrooms until we had already ordered drinks. At which point was too late. (we probably would have changed our dinner plans) this should be something that you are told when when seated. this was a 3rd of the vegetarian options and another 3rd was left with cheese on which I am not a fan off. So didn't leave much choice in that area. The food - we know what tapas are, small little dishes. But reviews have previously discribed these as being best in the world. I feel like that is a massive overstatement! The food is definitely not cooked to order (in our opinion) as the menu states we had ordered and eaten most of it in 15 minutes. A new record for me. (as a slow eater). We feel like we were given a, if not half microwave pack rice with prawns thrown in, For one dish! Another with tinned patatos, onions and cheese! The dishes were either too salty, covered with cheese (that my husband got) or you barely got a taster. I am not a massive eater and some reviews stated 6 was enough for 2! Definitely not, 6 was enough for us to know we couldn't wait to leave. We was waiting for cocktails to have with our deserts we didn't get a look in, in the end because as I said we had seen and had enough. Never in my life have I ever spent so little time in a restaurant. We were in and out in an hour. More of that was spent looking at the menu waiting to order and then waiting for our change, which blows my mind to think that they thought were getting a £9 tip! (I didn't say keep the change) You tip for service and the food which neither was very good. We was going to leave a small tip for politeness, but after them assuming they were getting one, specially one so much. We didn't bother at all and saw ourselves out. On our way home we walked to Aldi where we got ourselves a nice pizza and some ingredients we needed for our Cocktails. Which I'm enjoying as I write this review, I'm dressed up as if I'm going out but I'm Sat with my feet up and slippers on! My poor husband sitting here feeling guilty that we didn't have a nice birthday meal like we had anticipated. Although the owner (we think she was) seemed nice! She didn't seem spot that there was clearly an issue, which was a shame. Long story not as excellent as the previous reviews had seemed to think. And we won't be returning!

Food is always fresh, tasty and hot. Lovely selection and good value for money. Restaurant is always spotlessly clean. Love Charlie's.

I had the pleasure of visiting Charlie’s Tapas last night for the first time, completely lived up to all to the glowing reviews that I had read. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff, the food was delicious, varied and plentiful. Drinks menu extensive. A great find, will definitely be visiting again.

Our food was amazing and there was a good selection to choose from. We felt very welcome and safe. If we could have we would have gone back to try more. Excellent cocktail list available.

Gem of a restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, professional and friendly staff and delicious tapas. Everything was clean and the food was fresh, hot and served very quickly. Huge choice of drinks and gorgeous sangria. I had no trouble finding great vegetarian options and I found the food and drinks very reasonably priced.

Recommend by a friend who had been here before. Did not dissappoint. The food and service was amazing. There was not 1 dish out of the 12 we ordered, that we didn't enjoy. Food is mouth watering and full of flavour. Sharon and the waitress were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Very clean facilities. Be sure to book as very popular.

We went for a meal here and got the unlimited tapas, from beginning to end the service was faultless! They gave us recommendations on what to choose and made our meal one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The food was perfection to the point I couldn’t leave any of it even though I was ready to burst! It’s so delicious and the whole experience is priceless. Just visted Charlie's Tapas with a partner and had the best experience. The staff were lovely, especially Olivia who was so polite, friendly and helpful! So stuffed. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves there food and is ready to have a full tummy!

Just visited Charlie's tonight with my wife. Never had Tapas experience before and Charlie's didn't let us down. From start to finish we were served a great variety of meals and all very tasty. Our hosts were very attentive, but not intrusive. The internal surroundings very chilled. Don't miss the lovely beer and amazing homemade sweets. Great night, thanks😁👌

We’ve Just had the most amazing tapas at Charlie’s tapas restaurant today! Service, food and atmosphere was amazing considering COVID times. Felt super safe and the place was sparkling clean. The food was super fresh and delish!!! Our girls (6 and 9yrs) are quite fussy eaters but they’ve tried and enjoyed every dish and said it was the beat meal they’ve had for decades 😂!! Will be definitely coming back. They’ve even let us in 15min before the opening as I’ve mentioned we’ve got two tired and super hungry kids. Sharon couldn’t just do enough for us and was frequently checking whether we’re happy and if we need anything! Once again A M A Z I N G!!!

Not a lot to choose from in Great Yarmouth. This place has great reviews so we came here to eat.... They were fully booked so we didn't get the chance to see for ourselves why it is reviewed so well... I've given it four stars as it's clearly popular... And one of very few decent places to dine in town at evening time...

Best restaurant in Great Yarmouth, hands down! Staff are wonderful. Such an intimate and personal place, everyone is so friendly. Menu choices are excellent and updated frequently with new dishes, all you can eat tapas for a set price. Perfect for date night or a big get together. They're so accommodating. Family friendly too. My favourite restaurant 100%, can't wait to go back!

After reading mixed reviews...Decided to try it. Very impressed...Staff were really good and attentive as was the owner...Going around each table and ensuring all were happy...Food excellent value and extremely varied and tasty..We will definately be back...

We were in Great Yarmouth last week on holiday as a family of 3. This restaurant is amazing. Its child friendly and very accommodating. It’s so busy so advisable to book, but what does that say about the restaurant the food is sensational! We were here last year also and the staff remembered us they are very friendly. Decided to try Charlie's Tapa's one cold January evening, Great Yarmouth was almost deserted, restaurants were struggling to find customers. This place has 9/10 tables, I think 4 were occupied when we arrived. We had not booked but considering everywhere was empty did not feel the need, if they were full and could not accommodate us that would be fine. 'Have you booked?' asked the waitress, we hadn't. 'We have 2 tables booked, so we cannot give you a table, you could come back in an hour and a half and see if we have room.' By my calculation, that still left 3 or 4 vacant tables, so why they could not serve us is rather odd. To save walking around looking for other restaurants, we went for a Chinese, which was directly opposite Charlie's Tapas. While we ate a party of 6 was the only people that went in Charlie's, so there was always at least 3 tables empty. Why they could not serve us is a mystery, it was only my wife and I, unless the kitchen could not cope with 2 more or they were running short of produce? No idea, anyway we had a nice Chinese!
