Charcoal Restaurant in Newham

Usually great quality, and for a Friday evening I'd expect those usual standards. You don't mind paying premium for quality, but today's effort was shocking, I'm actually disappointed that they would allow what was delivered to me to leave the premises. The chicken donner was clearly reheated from at least yesterday, was dry, overcooked and not enjoyable at all. No sauce arrived with the delivery either to at least mask the dryness. We as a company use charcoal regularly but this has made me at least, have 2nd thoughts going forward. Unfortunately I'm not able to include the picture.

Great to see a business serving generous, fresh and delicious portions of food and still be able to make a successful living! Definitely recommend for anyone who enjoys Turkish food.

First time ordering. PLEASE AVOID!!! I got a mixed the chicken was ok but the lamb kofte had a horrible stale smell I tasted it and wasn't sure if it was over seasoned or just off so I had to spit it out due to a terrible stale taste. Now iv been sick all day missed out on work and that was the only thing I had that day apart from a packet of crisps . Iv not felt cramps like this before. Please avoid

Meat was warm tiny amount of salad don’t like the way the kebab was made no meat or salad in the pita bread meat was quite bland not much taste

Food was not very good. seemed dry and stale, not fresh as you would expect it to be. Had Turkish from a lot of places, but this was disappointing. Won't be ordering again.

Ordered a delivery of a big mixed grill- I don't know how do they make everything so delicious! Even the smell is lovely! I just hope that they'll keep the standard as high as now.

It was the attitude of the delivery driver that ruined the experience. He was on the phone, on loud speaker, didn’t say hello & just shoved the food at my husband.

Food was nice as usual, but there was unusually large amount of salt. And, there was an addition in the shape of enormous grilled oniaon and a few grilled peppers: both were nice but i had a feeling that they were put there INSTEAD of the usual ammount of meat. That was my impression- to hide the dwindling amount of grilled meat they put extra onion and peppers. I understand that everything is expensive, but takeaways are also very expensvie and £40 is. Sadly

One of the few places that still sells authentic lamb donner as opposed to the processed rubbish sold nowadays, meals come with good portion and with bread which is an extra bonus. Overall good food and quick service. Will be a long standing customer. Keep it up

I have always had best Turkish kebab from Boleyn. ( very Nice).. Decided to try somewhere different,,First time ordering from here. Food was very tasty , cooked well . My only gripe not a great deal of meat and a small amount of salad compared to other takeaways for the price. Enjoyed the chilli sauce. Would I order again ? Yes ,Would I recommend ? Maybe.

Large portions, delicious meals. Favourite thing of all, the complimentary bread with sides of spicy sauce and yogurt.

If you're looking for the best tasting turkish food then this is the place... genuinely great food!! The atmosphere is pleasant and staff very friendly. This is not of those over the top decorated places which only attract the social media posting show offs. This is a restaurant for those who enjoy and appreciate good food. Excellent!

This place is very reasonable compared to the other local Turkish restaurants. I use them via Uber eats and also eat in too. I have always been happy with the level of service and quality of food. Staff are friendly and always remember my choice! I have tried the other nearby Turkish restaurants and unlike them this place offers good prices, you are not rushed to leave. Complimentary meze, salad and bread are plentiful. You are not pressurise to order expensive dishes and no hidden charges either . The other local restaurant I went to I had a terrible experience, bill arrived with hidden charges and despite receipt saying “no service charge “ I was charged service charge! This place is different and I shall continue going there and ordering via Uber eats too Good luck guys and carry on doing a good job!

Great evertime its the only Turkish place I use

The delivery was on time but the delivery person was so rude to me. He called me once and I couldn’t hear him so I just started going downstairs but then he called me again and started speaking so rudely to me saying that I should’ve given him a code to enter the building and that the receptionist not letting him inside was not fair. When I started giving him the reason, he told me not to argue and to just take the food quietly. If this is how they are going to behave, I’d rather not order from

How can the delivery driver argue with the customer, please note take instructions from the customer so the customer does not have leave their property to collect the order

The doner meat is not the type I prefer. However, the rice was nice and the salad fresh. I did resent paying for the chilli sauce and it wasn't even spicy. Came early and they read my message for no onions.

I am very disappointed with the food that I ordered from here. I ordered 2 Meat doner meals. Although it looked well presented when I opened the box, the meat itself was so crusty, hard and chewy, that it was inedible. I'm sorry to have to say that it was probably the worst doner meal that I've ever had. I honestly feel that I have been ripped off, especially considering the price of it. It's a real shame as I've been waiting to try this restaurants food for a long time.

The food was reaaalllyyy good. I haven’t really seen portions this generous that many times in London and the taste was just really nice. Will definitely keep reordering.

Food took nearly an hour to arrive and we are 5-7mins away plus its Thursday night. When it did it was cold and had a hair. Called to rectify and told to "maybe" get a refund from just eat. Just eat won't refund. AVOID

Excellent Turkish. Very good portions, excellent flavour and cookery. Meat tender, crispy and beautifully charcoal-scented. Friendly staff and fair prices. Platters are particularly good value.

Was treated to a delicious lunch by my colleague. I had the turksish tea, mixed turkish salad and creamed chicken, was decent.

We found this place by chance on Google maps as we were looking for somewhere near the excel for dinner for 5 of us. Food was amazing, portion size is huge and they refused service charge when we tried to add it on. Great find.

I would like to recommend to anyone this amazing place. We tried many Turkish restaurants, but this is exceptional. We usually ordering online at Uber Eats, but today went in the restaurant to buy food and take home. Food is extremely delicious, staff super friendly 10/10. Meat always fresh and tasty, I’m not a person who likes rice, but this rice I could eat all box on my own. Definitely NR 1 for our family and friends.

The Addana is tasty but that’s all in rest is very expensive and the portion is very small not enough for a lunch or dinner, no seasoning for the rice or salad. Very disappointed with it.

Good food, price a little expensive. 4 pieces lamb chops meal with rice n salad is £21 (2023). Some times they give you old rice. Salad at times not washed thoroughly. It depends on the employees. It's a good place overall but can be hit n miss at times

Went for a quick lunch meeting with a Friend and was so happy I did, prompt service with fantastic relaxed vibe, my friend was able to get a table by a electricity outlet so even got a 50% charge! I Highly recommend 😜

Took the staff recommendation and had the chefs special for 4 people and it did not disappoint. The best meat platter I have had I a very long time.

We went there this evening after our weekly badminton, we have ordered 2 charcoal special. When the main dish came unfortunately I bite the lamb chop and blood came out from inside. I checked inside the meat I could clearly see that the meat was undercooked. Called the waiter then he called the manager and he was saying that how it should be. Then I asked him why blood coming out? It’s under cooked then he only took that lamb chopped from my hand and said he will change it. One of my mate said change the dish. I no longer could stay there as I felt disgusting, felt like through up. The meat was cold I’m sure it did not reach the minimum temperature as UK standers.

I’ve had this Turkish several times both as takeaway and eat in and I believe it’s the best I’ve had at a really great price too

I ordered one platter , according to their menu , the price is £33.00 , however, online price is £36.00 , I agreed to pay £36.00 but they charged £38.99 , In the delivery box they sent menu where the price was mentioned £33.00 , I think they are misleading the customer ..

The lady that served was friendly an nice. The food was alright. The portions were big which was great. Doner was ok, it had lots of fat and gave you a very oily taste because of its fat.

Stopped off here for a take away a couple of months back. I walked in just before closing time, I asked for a doner kebab and was given a doner and chips. When I statated I'd only asked for a doner kebab, I was told that he'd wrapped it so it was too late! I wasn't given the chips for free which thinking back I should have. By the time I got home the chips were stone cold...didn't eat them so I can't really review them. However the doner meat was weirdly dry, but with cold white fat on it...dry but greasy! The salad was wilted guess as I'd got there at the end of the day it had been sitting out way too long. I usually go to the The Kebab House in Wanstead (5*).....I'm definitely going to refrain from using The Charcoal Restaurant no matter how much I fancy a kebab! (Yuk!)

We use it fairly often for takeaway- food is really good ..am sure portions getting smaller EDIT ONE YEAR LATER Dropping to one star from 4 If you want some rice with slivers of some kind of meat mixed in, lots of small chicken wings and virtually no.other meat and pay 40 for the privilege then look no further .chips included Will.not use again

The food is horribly salty and the stuff is so rude to customer. The owner Nafzat, take my advice to remove the Mehmet nephew who is only one enough to destroy your businesses.

Quite possibly the tastiest Adana kebab I’ve ever had. Superb…will definitely be back. Complimentary sweet at the end too. Can’t fault the service and great value for money considering it’s such a generous portion

Do not come here ! I wasted my money ordering the iskender plate it came out cold, the meat was old and stale. The mixed shish was mediocre, the meat had no marination to it no flavour. I told the waiter that the food for the Iskender was horrible and she blamed it on the yoghurt being cold that’s why it was not served hot. I have eaten the Iskender plate else where and was it was amazing but not like this.

Not that impressed. First time and I think the last I’ve ordered from here . Taramasalata was just pink watery mess. No substance to it at all , the meat, I had mixed kebab, was nice, but for should have been plentiful for £14 . It wasn’t . The side salad I chose NO tomatoes , what did I get ? A tub of tomatoes and cucumber. Where was the cabbage , the onion ??? The other dish ordered was a cucumber yoghurt garlic dish. That too went straight in the bin with the tarra. Bland and flavourless. Charcoal is not for me I’m afraid
