Gorgeous setting and friendly service. Strange that they didn’t have in stock many of the wines on their menu, early on a Saturday night. Food okay, dessert the best.

The best restaurant I’ve ever been to. The vegetable “taco” starter was incredible. Such a huge surprise for it to be mini rotis with a beautifully spiced vegetable curry. The perfect balance of sweet and savoury. The main was also so delicious. The sweet and sour vegan chicken with red dragonfruit was so, so lovely. I had it with a side of coconut rice, which was so nice and fragrant. The mango and sticky rice dessert was hands down the best mango sticky rice I’ve ever had. It came with a little jug of sweet coconut milk to pour on top. The mango was sweet and fresh and the sticky rice was perfect in consistency. The mocktails were also lovely. The green tea had fresh tea leaves in it too. The restaurant itself is so beautiful with a breathtaking, luxurious decor. Overall 10/10 experience.

Wow wow wow we ordered food for delivery and was so impressed. Firstly packaging is so amazing and classy... and food so fresh and delicious..Such a great choice. Will definitely going to dine in. Oh by the way, a wee black envelope with 2 peaces of chocolate was absolutely perfect surprise.

Went here tonight, had to ask 3 times for the rice to go with our mains and we sent the chicken skewars back as they were so dry and over done. When the bill came the skewars were still on and they had added a service charge... an insult based on the service given. I instructed that both be removed however I should never have had to.

Service was poor. Stood at the reception waiting to be seated while two staff members chatted away totally ignoring us. Also the table service poor. The food was good, no complaints there, but not a great atmosphere, when we left there was no staff around either. Sorry, won't be back.

We were there last night during the restaurant week, we booked a table for 2 (£25/each set menu). To Be honest the portion sizes were so small it was laughable, spring rolls and taco made for mini people I believe (wished I had taken a photograph - they had been through Willy Wonkas shrinking machine lol had to be seen to be believed - spring rolls like the tip of your thumb). And the waiter staff where obviously over busy forgetting which order was which, multiple people handing the same dish before it got to it final destination - absolutely gross 🤮 Constantly asking/reminding staff about “where’s my order”. As mentioned I understand it was a meal offer but that was a complete joke.

The service was relatively quick between courses.. whilst we were sat on a small table. There was an inset round table but on the 'lazy susan' method. You do literally have to slide your legs under the sunken table top, Asian style. Great if there's a dozen of you!

The best Thai food I've had in the area. Impeccable service and the place is very beautiful. I recommend the plate with the varied starters to try a little of everything.

Went here to celebrate my friends birthday. Reserved a table and unfortunately when we arrived we were told the table wasn’t ready and was placed at the bar. One of the bartenders, Alex made us forget that even happened! Alex was amazing! He picked out the best cocktails according to what we described we liked! He was so funny as well. Cocktails were a 10/10 as well as the bar service. Food was also good. Without Alex, I might have given a different review. Amazing service!

Excellent atmosphere for a date. Great authentic Thai food and tasty cocktails. Staff are warm and very attentive, many thanks to Alex and John for making our evening special and relaxing. Looking forward to returning again very soon!

Please get ready because I will be raving about our dinning experience! It was absolutely spectacular starting from the warmest welcome from Alex, the ambience is inviting and elegant, The Food just absolutely the most flavoursome and delicious. Bravo 🤩 When next back to Aberdeen it will be the first place we choose with my partner. P.S Big thank you to Alex who looked after us as if we were part of his family. Don't know why it took so long to try here but it was really great. Food was wonderful and the staff were great. The place also had a great wee atmosphere. Give it a try. Well back here again 4 years later. Service at first was fast, and friendly, then got an order wrong, but food was replaced quickly. Then the bottom droppped out the service. Was certainly busy but they were concentrating on getting customers in rather than those who were already there. Food still good. Maybe an off night but wasnt a great experience.

What a cool spot in Aberdeen! Nice to visit a Thai place that felt authentic. The staff were great, the decor was phenomenal and the food tasted so good I ordered more. Got the sharing platter which offered a diverse selection of appetizers and then had a chicken curry dish (extra spicy). So good

A tad lacking in the usual finesse on my last visit. Staff member unfortunately poured a dish over a friend’s bag and had our rice cupped in the palm of his hands when delivering to the table. A stressful service experience, but food was okay. Just not quite delivered at the same time. I’d give them another go however, venue is lovely.

Nice space and service. Food ok but over priced, never been charged so much for a single serve of plain rice. Tea also expensive. 10 percent surcharge was automatically applied. Had vegetables and tofu, ok but wouldn't go again. But that's how I feel about the whole city of Aberdeen. Art gallery good but seriously this city needs to get some pride. Lovely old buildings so lots to work with. Not sure where in this city would be good to eat.

Beautiful surroundings, great Thai cuisine friendly attentive staff, made my girlfriend and I feel special . Highly recommended.

The food was very good to be fair but was let down a little by the wait staff. It took a long time for our bill to be brought to the table after being asked a few times.

Went for a 3pm meal with three other friends on Saturday 23 March 2024. This was a special occasion for a local Aberdonian visiting from Houston. This was always our go to restaurant. We arrived promptly for a sunken seat private dining. After being seated we had no drinks or other service for 45 minutes. The restaurant was not busy and I could only see two other tables occupied. We have been individually and together numerous times since it has been open and it continues to go downhill. Out of 4 main meals only two arrived correctly. When we complained all we got was that we can take off the service charge! Which is an optional charge. We were very disappointed with the overall experience and food quality to be honest and gutted as I loved this restaurant. I won’t be back.

Amazing ambiance, upscale and excellent food.

Daughter took me for lunch and it did not disappoint. Food was lovely, very tasty and just the right size of portion. Staff were very attentive and pleasant with a relaxed atmosphere.

Celebrating my fathers birthday with family. 10 people in a private setting was very special and allowed us to speak without talking over the background noise. Amazing food. The wine selection was a little depleted due to restaurant week the previous week had impacted availability. Spoke with the manager (Chanya) offline and she greatly helped make this an enjoyable rest of evening all round by allocating more personnel to serve us, bring cake and sing a long happy birthday (he was tickled pink with this). Overall. The food was exceptional, service was very friendly and the overall price was reasonable for a part of 10 people (2 kids). Highly recommend Chaophraya to anyone looking for a great evening either in a group or ‘date night’ setting.

First time but definitely won't be the last. Food was outstanding,piping hot and obviously freshly made Staff were excellent friendly and attentive, highly recommend will be back ASAP.

The customer service is really poor . Firstly, we got to the front desk where the lady was on the phone taking either an other or reservation. We waited for over 3 minute before she finished her call to attended to us. Know acknowledgment of us waiting . We then took our order ( start, main and dessert) from the aberdeen restaurant week menu . Waited for over 30mins for starts and another 30mins for mains (after mentioning to the floor manager) . We waited for other 15mins for desserts and got upset and decided to leave. Really poor customer service

The lady restaurant manager today Sat 3rd Feb made our visit today awful. The food is fantastic your waiting staff are amazing- we dine regularly at Chaophraya but will be a while before we come back

Brilliant food can’t fault it but the service was terrible, almost 2 hours for a lunch to be served, no checking if we were ok or needed any more drinks, limited items on menu and had to ask someone to take away our plates then had to chase up the pudding order. Wouldn’t mind if restaurant was busy but there was about 5 tables with sittings so no excuse. Reluctant to substitute items missing from menu and had the cheek to add on a 10% service charge without saying, didn’t notice till we got the receipt when by that point had already paid. Such a let down!! Won’t be rushing back

I was travelling on my own. So had a leisurely meal in beautiful surroundings. This is a gorgeous building with fabulous food.

We found a hair on the food tho the staff handled the situation really well ,the place is really nice . They gave us a chocolate at the end so it’s a bonus .

Delicious food, authentic Thai flavor, beautifully decorated restaurant. The staff are Thai. The cocktails are great. I recommend it.

i am asian from asia and been to thailand many times so if its authentic? its questionable. for me think its altered for the general/main footfall. given how posh looking the place is we received our food late and even the service staff was getting frantic when we havnt gotten our starters and we were 30mins earlier from our actual reservation time and it took us 2hrs plus and our table received our food late not somewhere i will return in the near future sorry for this review as i see mostly 5* reviews unfortunately this was my experience 🙏🏽

So disappointing, felt like we were an inconvenience. Slow service. Ordered meals and came back about 10 minutes later to say they had run out of that choice. Long wait between courses. 3 meals arrived and had to wait for the 4th. Then had to chase it up. Food was delicious but service let the place down. Will not return

Vi bestilte bord på forhånd, tror ikke vi hadde fått bord uten forhåndsbestilling på en lørdag. Grønn curry, god, men ganske sterk for en norsk gane. Alt i alt veldig fornøyd med både maten og servicen. Flott lokale.

Went out for my 50th birthday celebration with wife daughter and her boyfriend. Absolutely stunning building inside and out. Sat at our table and shown the menu, then waited 15mins to get drinks order taken... however the waitress seemed to be rushed as we had to say 3 times eh sorry we've not all ordered as yet. I ordered a bottle of Asian Lager and the glass had just came from the dishwasher so was warm which wasn't great. Then some 35 mins later our starters arrived...which were amazing... looking and tasted. At 930 our mains finally arrived...bear in mind we sat down at 750...we were all very hungry and the mood of the evening was changing. We had to call the waitress 3 times to reorder drinks during that 100 mins we waited for our food...so we had our mains and decided to move on. The food was absolutely amazing however the service was absolutely shocking. We always leave a tip even if service wasn't great however I insisted noone leave a tip last night as the service was that bad. I understand if they are really busy however the 2 tables next to us had their 3 courses and drinks and were done and gone by the time our mains came out. Would I visit again...I'd be very dubious to do so

My husband I had a meal here lastnight and I have to say, the food and cocktails were outstanding. I had Thai green curry with egg noodles, and my husband had crispy chicken with cashew nuts and fried rice. It was delicious. I also highly recommend the Spiced Island Ice Tea. Service was 10/10. We will definitely be back. Thank you 😊

Food utterly underwhelming. Dumplings like a lump of unseasoned sausage meat covered with pastry. Pad Tai bland and not fresh tasting at all. Chicken stir fry just did not taste freshly made, and no egg to be found in the egg fried rice!Waitresses very friendly and willing but clearly lack trading and experience. Way overpriced. Really good food, but terribly overpriced. I thought that the Chaophraya appetizer was reasonably priced, and a terrific item, until I realized at time of paying the bill that the price quoted was per person. For a simple bowl of rice it's £5. Each. Service was good until the end when dirty plates sat on the table waiting for our waiter to finish making drinks and bring us the check. At our high top bar table my short wife and tall self were both uncomfortable because the seats are too short to hold your upper leg and the chairs are too tall to rest your feet on the floor. I might go back, but I would really watch the extras because the surprise of the bill was quite bothersome.

I’m an Asian and I live in Asia, so I’m not bluffing when I say Chaophraya is THE BEST THAI FOOD ever. The sauces are made from scratch (because on some other Thai restaurants, they use ready-to-cook/instant sauces, which make the food taste not as good). I recommend to (of course) order the Pad Thai & Chaophraya Platter if you are a first timer. It’s a family run business and I meet one of the owner and she’s so lovely. But unfortunately the guy who served our table doesn’t really reflect what the owner wants about the hospitality. By the way, they bought an old building from a bank, and the one in Aberdeen is the most beautiful one (they have 5 or 6 others around UK), with original old ceiling and pillars combined with gold finished Buddha statues they brought from Thailand. Nice!

Atendimento nada cordial

Poor option for take-out: taste is alright (but not awesome), small portions, expensive. Charging 4.50 for a small cup of steamed rice should be illegal

Lovely spot to eat solo. Had a great vegan menu to pick from, specially vegan options! Service was very attentive.

A very good Thai restaurant. Service, atmosphere is good and well located. I would recommend dining here if you enjoy Thai food. Not quit sure why I got an onion ring with my prawn tempura, but still enjoyed it.

We ordered a set menu for 2 people, every single thing tasted amazing im not a big fan of spicey foods but the spice level was perfect for me, we got a sharing platter to start, and 3 meat dishes for mains (chicken, duck, lamb) and a jasmin rice to share, and finished off with a delicious chocolate, praline and biscuit desert. 10/10 service/food would highly recommend. We also ordered a bottle of chenin blanc white wine and the bill came to about £130 including tip.

Unfortunately never got to try the food as I was given a voucher as a gift which was set aside for my wifes birthday. I retrieved the voucher and noticed on the small (more like tiny) print that it was only valid for 5 months and had very recently expired. I did phone and ask if the voucher could still be used and was told pretty bluntly that it could not. I realise that this was partly my fault but 5 months is a very short timeframe for a gift voucher and have been in a similar situation in the past and the voucher was honoured.

Long overdue review. Really want to give a shout out to our host Julia who did an absolutely sterling job handling a large group of 9 of us, doing laps of the restaurant to get from one end of the table to another. Fantastic ambience, and food was very well appreciated by our entire party. The erstwhile Chaophraya in Manchester was a firm favourite of mine so was delighted to find the Aberdeen location not only has the same great decor, food but service as well. Well worth it and easily my number 1 recommendation for a Thai chain.

Very nice decor, friendly staff, food was as expected but not fantastic, I would recommend but wouldn't rush back.

First time eating here, two of us went for a pre-theatre meal on a Saturday. Food was lovely, maybe a little bit over-priced though, especially for the veggie selection. Service was good, though the wait between starters and mains was a bit long. Will definitely visit again to try more of the menu!

Poor, slow service on Monday night, seemed to have not enough staff to deal with the amount of customers. But couldn't fault the meal and the price, good value.

Fairly slow on the service for drinks. We were in private dining. Food was good, though with no complaints.

Great food and atmosphere. Just as we thought service was slow the waitress came over as the kitchen had mixed our order up and offered us another drink.2 mins later food came. Really enjoyed the Thai Green curry. Definitely recommend

Great food for a special birthday. Had a room to ourselves a d the staff couldn't do enough. Shame it took a bit to long to serve 15 of us but I'd highly recommend the place for a great Thai meal.

We booked here for valentine’s day in advance with the request to sit beside each other. When we arrived we were shown to a booth and they had made sure we could sit beside each other which was great. The waitress, Ellie, was really accommodating and lovely. Our food was fantastic. We ordered from the ordinary menu not the set valentines one and the price was very reasonable for the quality of food. Great experience with lovely staff. :)

Lovely restaurant great atmosphere and delicious food. Highly recommended. Very attentive staff, food came prompt and piping hot. Large portions and delicious. Lots of drinks to choose from and we had a few cocktails which were all lovely. We had sharing platters which where so tasty. Dragon fruit sweet and sour chicken was so good, coconut rice and jasmine rice also really good. The chefs special prawns we thought weren’t much to write home about. The chocolate bombe desert I wouldn’t recommend it comes with pouring caramel hot sauce but it didn’t really melt the bombe like you see in videos. The chocolate is extremely rich but doesn’t come with any ice cream or cream to help with the richness. The mango and sticky rice was lovely. Starters mains desserts and around 5 drinks each our bill came to around £300 Overall we had a lovely evening and would definitely return

Really bad experience at the Aberdeen restaurant. Dirty toilets. Bad service. No toilet roll in ladies! Told staff, then went back to loo 30 mins later, still not cleaned and no loo roll! ( It wasn't even busy!!! So no excuses!! ) Starter was luke warm.. After starter was asked by staff if we wanted a pudding or the bill. ... Explained we hadn't had out main yet! ..One of our mains came out wrong but by this time we couldn't be bothered complaining any more..Was given 10% discount but was charged 10% service charge! Have been to Leeds Manchester and Liverpool all good ..This was the worst experience which has put us off for good!...Will not be back !

Excellent food that tingles your taste buds and fantastic ambience that depicts Thai, Chinese and Japanese environment. Served by Julia and satisfied to the fullest. Prompt service and response by the rest of the team as well.

Lovely food but the menu was badly out of date with what was available

Been to this restraunt so many times and it has been disappointing to see the quality and service gone down so much from our last visit. Hopefully things will pick up soon again. After receiving a poor service and getting charged for optional service charge of £8 is too much.

Food quality and taste were quite poor today . We have been for our Anniversary dinner with our child . Chicken in all the dishes including child's dish is very tough and dishes are almost taste less . We have asked for stir fry noodles and they served steam noodles . If there are no stir fry noodles they should have let us know that in while ordering . Totally unhappy with the service . Never looking back into Chaophraya .

Wow what a difference since the girl that used to work in the Thai place in Union Square became the manager, was in previously with old manger was there, the place was terrible, complained to the manager with glasses and was completely uninterested and never went back till recently, new manager who is Thai looking with a geordie accent and is absolutely holarious and couldn't do enough for our table, place was very busy but she still made time to see everyone was happy, although there was a wait for food it was to be expected because it was so busy, but service was incredible

Been here twice before and really enjoyed it. Today was a bit disappointing.

Having been to the Edinburgh one, we were excited to book this for a birthday meal. The food was amazing but the drinks took so long. I understand that it is near Christmas and busy but the service was so slow (with other tables in after us getting served before us) and we had another booking after so felt like we had to down our drinks by the time we eventually got them. We ended up having only one (and a half) drink with our meal and didn’t end up having time for desert. Table was booked at 7.30 and we didn’t get sat until 7.45 and order wasn’t taken until 8.15 with first drinks not arriving till almost 8.30. The slow service ruined the experience as it has lovely decor and the food was good!

Had an awesome cocktail making class in one of the private rooms, followed by tasty nibbles. Thanks to bartender Piers for making it a fun night!

Excellent visit. Was drawn to the place just by walking by. Once you step inside... Wow! Beautiful location, stunning interior decor, food was exceptional. The staff we're so pleasant and attentive. Bread, our waitress was awesome!

I recently visited the restaurant for lunch. The young staff were pleasant and efficient. The food was delicious and well-presented. The building is very impressive but I was distracted by the dingy appearance of the beautiful ceiling. Could do with a coat of paint! There were no delays with the service which is a bonus of choosing to eat at quieter times. A very positive experience.

Had the weeping tiger steak with the five spice fries. The food was amazing and was bursting with flavor. The service I couldn’t fault it, always at hand when needed.

This was a GEM of a restaurant in the middle of Aberdeen. My family and I were flying blind and looking for a place to eat and thankfully we found Chaophraya. The setting was amazing and beautiful which only added to the excellent food we had! The staff was also kind and helped us with recommendations. Such a great experience and would definitely recommend trying it out.

Great building much bigger than expected with beautiful finishings mains we're really nice without being mind blowing ,certainly not as spicy as Thai normally is, the soup Tom Kha, with chicken was pleasant without being anything to write home about, desserts, my wife had the sorbets which were excellent and I had the passion fruit and mango slice mmmm far too small a portion for the money but pleasant, definitely going back though service was attentive and friendly despite being quite busy, until the end of the meal when we had to get up and pay... but its a really nice place , for larger parties especially...

Beautifully repurposed (was a bank) building. Was not busy but they seated us in front of server /cashier location in a high traffic area from the kitchen. Starter was great, crispy and fresh. Meals were rather bland, and no condiments were on the table. Rice was not included in the stir fry dishes. Seafood in my stir fry was fresh, but just no flavor in sauce.
