This place is in need of a revamp big time.There is mould everywhere the decorer is disgusting the toilets are disgusting We went to a 40th birthday party on a Sunday The food was poor and there were no serviettes so they gave us toilet roll instead The bar staff were slow and unhelpful. It's my view avoid this place

Wish I could right something positive, but it was a disaster. Met in hall by a bag of off cut wood. Bare cables hanging down from stairway, baby high chair halfway up with clothes hanging over. Seats were stained and marked. Carpet was torn by door out to decking, mould all over the bay window. Didn't stay for food, appetite totally gone, This was a Father's Day surprise. Well, it certainly was.

Went recently for a wedding. Had an excellent time. Decor for wedding was black and gold. Everything was set out beautifully. The food was excellent. Good size portions, piping hot, very tasty and well served. There was no waiting for courses and the waitresses were polite, helpful and gave good service. As for management and employees, nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you to all for a wonderful day/evening.

Wow, what a hidden little treasure. We went to a wedding there yesterday and I can honestly say it was amazing. The outside ceremony was like being abroad. I shall definitely be recommending you to everyone.

Visited a few times in recent months due to family funeral wakes and the food, drinks and service has been top notch. A very comfortable place to be.

What a disappointment. Have been here a number of times with no issues. However, had to wait 40 mins to be served despite there only being another 2 adults. When it came, the chips were greasy and certainly not crisp. The fish was bland. Will not be returning

Had the best wedding here Saturday. The staff and owner went above and beyond for us. Everything was perfect. We hired the whole venue from start to finish everything was perfect.

Food was decent. Wait unacceptably long. 5 adult roast dinners. No starters. Choices beef, chicken, pork turkey. No menu and didn't pay bill so no idea of cost. Just had 2 starters and 4 mains reeled off. Same for sweet. 2 choices. Food was nice. Gutted that there was one roastie only. Nice gravy. Staff pleasant. Room not great. Awkward seating. Very close to table behind and seats did not fit under tables. Also, as mentioned previously, signs of wear and tear. Kitchen open and was a mess. But sure this was due to a busy service as they are 5 star hygiene rated. We would possibly go again if I knew the prices 🙄👍

We had our dear dad's wake at the Celtic Lodge, Karen was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our family and friends were welcomed for tea and coffee, prior to us arriving back from the crem. The room was beautifully warm and the buffet was delicious and plentiful. Thank you Karen and your staff, you made a sad, hard day a little more bearable. 💜

Hired the hall for an engagement and it was very clean the only issue we had was only being allowed to use 1 bar which was difficult with 150 guests and 2 barmen

The food was absolutely stunning with sooooo many compliments and the room was done beautiful for us. Tea and coffee was also laid on along with a beautiful selection of cakes. Once again on behalf of myself and the family Thank You from the bottom of our hearts u made the end of an emotional day run smoothly for us all xx

Wow wow wow. I’m not sure where to begin. Went here for Sunday lunch and was sooooooo impressed. As soon as we were seated the waitress came over and took our drinks order. We were offered a choice of 3 meats, Food was served piping hot and very presentable and sooo much of it. There has to be a secret to the nicest suede and mashed potatoes I have ever tasted 🥰🥰🥰 Absolutely stunning lunch and will defo return.

The Lodge is in a terrible state, the manager has her office open set up at one of the tables in the restaurant, sitting there Vaping itlooks terrible. The Bathrooms are disgusting, the kitchen door is open and its in a state, how they pass with the health department is a wonder. The staircase in the entrance hall is full of empty boxes. There are areas in the dinning room where mold is growing. We had the Chargrilled Chicken and it was watery and tasteless. NOT IMPRESSED will def not go back.

Had a 3 course meal, soup beef dinner and cheesecake was absolutely stunning, mine and my daughter’s favourite place to go always brilliant service and always 10/10 food. And I absolutely love the log fire so cosy lovely place to go for food and drinks highly recommend!

Myself and partner had a meal here last night, Gammon was gorgeous cooked to perfection was just watering in my mouth I really enjoyed it. Partner says the hunters chicken was the best he has ever tasted he really enjoyed it to which was rather impressed. Prices are incredible also staff are really friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back when we stay at Neath again thank you very much for an amazing service and some beautiful cooked food

Well where do I start ? If I could give ten stars I would. We ordered four beef and one chicken take away Sunday dinner. The food came in large boxes and the entire base of the box was covered in meat. There were fresh carrots cabbage peas swede mashed pots and roast pots parsnip Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. Also more than enough gravy to swamp this huge dinner. I can't recommend this Sunday dinner enough. I will definitely be back for more. Thank you Celtic lodge.

2nd time coming for food but the 1st time coming on a Wed for the steak deal of 2 for £20. This deal is amazing and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back again. I would highly recommend.

A hidden venue up a small drive on a street of Edwardian housing. The food was good and the quantities large. A top quslity hearty meal. If you’re looking for small portion picky finesse, don’t bother. If you’re looking for super large fish and outstanding chips or chicken curry with half and half, you’ve got the right place. Friendly service and a very local clientele. The building itself needs a bit of TLC, but we would definitely return.

Poor and rude management that do not disclose that they will shut the music off at 11 even if the room is hired until 1. They will trim agreesice and defensive when you raise issues with unsatisfaction. Would not go back as it left a bad taste on what should be a very special event.

Rude and unwelcoming management. Will advertise room hire until 1 then turn off the electricity to music and disabled toilets at 11. Apparently the onus is on the bride/booker to ASK this? Cannot deal with understandably unhappy customers and get aggressive and defensive! I posted a review on Facebook and they decided to disable reviews and remove that function so now other prospective customers cannot see these issues. Complete lack of transparency and management are letting down a beautiful venue. I would not look to book this venue as it is clear that the manager will not take accountability for any issues that arise and won’t think twice about ruining someone’s wedding reception. ** Edited to add following the venue’s response. I am NOT the bride. I was a guest in attendance at a family wedding. I was also NOT drunk (do not drink) and was there with my three year old daughter. I did not speak to management directly but I witnessed the conversations and the upset than ensued following them. The venue have removed the option to review on Facebook instead of dealing with the complaints. The venue state the room hire is until 1 with no mention the final two hours are supposed to be enjoyed in total silence. The issue is not with licensing laws. It’s with transparency at the time of booking and how management deal with complaints both on the night and thereafter. Working in the hospitality industry takes good customer service, which is lacking from The Celtic Lodge Management team. The onus is NOT on the customer to query if the music license ends two hours before the room hire does. I think most people would assume this would either be mentioned by the venue at the time of booking or the license goes until the end of the room hire. It is not fair or reasonable to assume everyone is privy to hospitality rules and dupe customers. What wedding reception would start at 7 to end by 10:30?

Arranged wedding party here and was told closing is at 1am via phonecall. Just after 10 we were told music would need to stop soon due to their licensing, and that they usually ask people to book taxis by 11.45. They also said they usually stop serving at 11pm but will serve after this if people are "reasonable", but as we brought up their mistake we weren't "reasonable". Power was shut off to the room before 11, including the lights for the disabled bathroom. Customer service was awful and owner aggressive and swore at guests.

Attended a friend's wedding reception here recently. Despite telling the couple that the place was booked until 1 we were told at half 10 that they only had a licence until 11 and that the music would have to stop. Lo and behold come 11 they cut the power to everything, including the disabled toilets and staff got very aggressive with the guests

If I could give a zero review I would but sadly Google doesn't give that option. What happened to giving a good level of customer service, what happened to transparency and honesty. There was absolutely no need for the night to have been ruined but the owner was not upfront at the time of booking. We were told that the room was booked until 1am. Which was very well received, we would have stayed continued supporting a local business and the revenue would have been well received, I would have thought...... but no it was sprung on us the goalposts had been changed and music had to be stopped by 11 and everyone was expected to leave at 11.45 due to the licence, but if we were reasonable then she would let us stay and use the bar (with no music) till 1am. None of this would have been an issue if we were told in advance but when the night is still young to have that sprung in you is very unwelcome. So sadly we became unreasonable, I wonder why? Is it because that message wasn't what we were told when booking, but again that was or fault because apparently booked until 1am doesn't mean that and you should check check anyway. Anyway safe to say i along with probably 60 local people will give the place a miss going forward. Very rude owners with no regard for the bride.

Aggressive staff who turned off the power to venue at 11pm, including the disabled toilets which were in use, despite telling the customers that it was open until 1am. Upon telling staff this we were told to "prove it" as the booking was made via telephone. At this point we were told that they had a license until 11pm unless customers were "reasonable" at which point they would serve beyond this license. A very disappointing experience which spoilt what should have been a special occasion

Very poor comms by the owner. Music can only be played until 11.00 pm even though you are not told this unless you ask apparently. Aggressive manner by owners have just ruined my daughter's wedding party.

Amazing food awesome service would return. I had a Sunday roast and I had turkey and beef it was delicious, waitresses were amazing , fast service like I said would definitely come again.

Just been there for my daughter's wedding. It turns out that on functions that the music ends at 11.00 pm. So make sure that you ask this as the owners won't tell you when booking. The worst aspect was the owners attitude when enforcing this rule. Would not go back. It ruined my daughter's wedding party. Poorly run place.

Attended my sisters wedding here on Sept 8th . Fabulous welcome off all the staff, food was amazing and the ceremony and set up of the decking for the vows was fantastic. Staff went above and beyond for all guests and nothing was to much trouble. Everyone at the wedding enjoyed so thanks again Celtic Lodge that was a brilliant wedding venue and experience.

On holiday found this lovely place online had a lovely meal. Owner and staff lovely people, friendly and welcoming. Food lovely, portions massive good value for the money. Loved so much came back again the next night. 😁

Visited this place for Sunday lunch with the in laws I had the beef my wife had the veggie option the inlaws had pork the portions was large and there was a good selection of meats but the food took over a hour to come and it wasn't that busy the food wasn't very nice at all luke warm crunchy vegetables wasn't very nice at all which is a shame because I have been here before and had a evening meal which was nice nothing special overall a disappointing vist not sure if I'll be visiting again

Well what can I say.. it was a beautiful place for my daughters wedding party. .the setting was amazing the staff were more than fantastic...especially the lady behind the bar...I forgot her name...but she's went above and beyond...the buffet was beautiful too I have enclosed pictures so u can see for your self's.. we had an awesome band cat and the fiddle..which...jst made the night...thank you to all the staff ....and the management...👏🙌

Sunday lunch for 3 could have fed 6! Lol . Portions way too big and savings here for the business could support some TLC/ maintenance. Lipstick on the glass however was disappointing as it wasn't busy and wasn't noticed by staff. Sorry. But would return regardless as these things happen and we're only human. Delicious Sunday lunch and enough left over to take home for another 3 meals ! Lol . plenty of meat ....we all had chicken or beef or pork and all lovely 🤩 grazie

This is child friendly with the bouncy castle and stuff. Lovely place to eat. The manager/owner was a little bit grumpy but the general atmosphere of the restaurant and friendliness of the other staff members made up for it. I would highly recommend eating here the food is amazing.

We popped in on the off chance for some grub and as always the girls are very accommodating. We've been here a number of times for events, dinners and Sunday lunch and it has never been disappointing. Food is top notch and the desserts are to die for. Well worth the visit!!

Staff were so attentive from the moment we walked in. Considering we ordered a 42oz steak to share , it came out relatively quickly. Not only that but it was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was so tasty and seasoned to perfection. This is the second time we’ve been in a month and it’s been faultless. Would definitely recommend trying if you haven’t already. 10/10.

Came on the recommendation of a friend and happily, I'm still talking to her. The food was abundant and majority well cooked. The top slice of my turkey had clearly been left under the hot light and the top part was flambéd. I removed about half an inch of it and to be fair the rest was perfect as the gravy had shielded it. The other slices and beef underneath was perfectly cooked, tender, and there was plenty of it. We had more veg than even my human dustbin children could ever have finished. It was well prepared also, and flavourful. We had mash, peas, cabbage, swede, and two jugs of gravy. Why only 4 stars then? Cleanliness and health risk. My wrapped cutlery was dirty with what looked like beef stock cube of all things. Our glasses were dirty, and not just smeared from the washer. There were bits of something all over them. Another table was making the same complaint and were told it was wear and tear. It's not, they were dirty, you can't get wear and tear off with a napkin....as I did. We didn't bother complaining given we could hear the denial to the other table, I just cleaned them myself. I also ordered full fat drinks, but we were served diet pepsi. The server replaced the offending drink without issue but my sweetener intolerant son had already drunk half. She claimed she thought we'd said diet pepsi. I'm not sure how you mishear 5 cokes as 5 diet pepsi but there we go. His learning disabilities means he can't tell us that isn't Coke and I didn't think to check. It was only on drinking mine I realised the mistake. This isn't a huge issue for us as it's only an intolerance not an allergy, however if you have allergies I'd double check your order here. Overall a good experience but someone really needs to check the filter in the dishwasher and reiterate the importance of getting orders correct.

Sunday lunch last minute type of thing. Car park was packed. Always a good sign. Given the option of beef pork, turkey or something else. Can't remember.... Was warm inside with some Christmas decorations up. Food was quick and meat was nice. Jot plastic slices...

Disgusting service! As I arrived to collect my food, the lady behind the bar serving noticed I was standing waiting but continued to tell the lady she was serving that she had “a banging hangover” and that she was “not meant to be working tonight” and that her boss even came to pick her up from her home to “drag her into work” so she was “not happy at all”. When I was finally served, the lady was extremely abrupt which I was quite taken back by. When I explained that I was there to collect three meals that I had booked, she replied “no you ain’t love, I declined that one because there’s no curry left”. I can totally understand that this can happen but the way in which she spoke to me was appalling, there was no remorse whatsoever and she was extremely rude. I will never return to this filthy, dirty place again, especially after being spoken to in that way!
