I last did a review of Cattleya some 10 years ago, so it is about time I did another update review. I have been a regular here for the last 15 years. The food is lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is a combination of Thai dishes and Spanish tapas. When the owner Nittaya took over the Tapas bar called Chu & Cho and renamed it Cattleya Thai Restaurant, the Tapas side of the previous business was so popular they decided to keep it going, hence the Thai, and Spanish combination. Over the years, they have added new items to the menus, but the usual Thai restaurant favourites are all there, along with a small selection of Spanish Tapas dishes. Thai food can be quite spicy and hot, but I think Nittaya has toned down the heat a bit to accommodate the British taste of fantastic Thai flavours without too much burn. If you ask her nicely, I’m sure she will add a few more chilli if you like it hot. They have had several live singers and bands to entertain patrons, once a month over the years. For many years now, this has been provided by the ‘Charlton Central Residents Association called ’SE7’ which is the area postcode for Charlton. The band is led by local musician and composer Chris Harrison, and they play a mixture of jazz, South African Kwela, folk music, and many other genres. They also often bring along guest singers as a bonus. Being so close to the Charlton football ground, I would not try to get in on a match day, prior to or just after a match, as it is so popular that you have to book in advance. I highly recommend his place.

Has improved since my last visit five years back but it still feels like a second rate Thai restaurant. When we arrived there was no one in the restaurant (including staff, which was odd). A few minutes later the waitress arrived and turned on the music. There may be a reason this place is usually empty. The complimentary prawn crackers were parsimonious and had no accompanying chilli sauce which wasn’t an overly welcoming start. The starters we ordered were tasty enough without being mind blowing. Chicken gyoza were crispy, the salted squid was ok. The main dishes were mixed. The fried chicken was pretty average, whereas the aubergine and chicken was tasty. There is a drinks menu with a happy hour 5-7pm but doing dry January we hoped for some mocktails…no can do apparently…sigh. Overall it was fine and at £25 a head was affordable but it’s not somewhere I can go wild about.

I got delivery from JustEat, the Penang curry was great, along with the stay sauce for the 4 chicken skewers. The amount of complimentary prawn crackers you get was alot which was great and tasty👌🏻The Pad Kee Mau noodles were okay and the deep fried squid was weird, had a almost fried chicken batter on it. Could have been much better on my opinion... I am not sure why they do Thai good and Tapas 🤔

After eating and realising, they apologised and brought out a (hopefully) vegan pad Thai. Made me feel physically sick as have been vegan for many years. Only come here if you want to wait HOURS for your food! We booked a table at 7:30pm. However, they must have a poor booking system, since we had to wait for a table and then had to remind them we were a group of 6, not 4. We waited a total of 2 hours and a half for the mains! I have never waited so long for food before. To add insult to injury, a party of 5 were served food long before we were, even though they had arrived and ordered a lot later than us. It got to the point where we had all lost our appetites from waiting for the food for so long. To top it off the Num Tok was not worth the extended wait (or any wait for that matter). I couldn’t finish it and was very disappointed. I had to go to the Chinese takeaway next door after... Granted the rest of the food is very good here. I would recommend the Tom Kar and the soft shell crab. Such a shame our experience was marred by the long service and the lack of compensation from waiting for so long.

Great food with some excellent delicately balanced flavours and good service. They really do need to invest in a proper heater to turn on for guests for when it's cold outside; the little one they have is sized for a box room but not a restaurant. I'm sure it's okay when the place is full and body heat helps warm the place up, but when you're the first of the night it is off putting. It does also make the food go cold a little quicker than I'd like (when food is good I like to take my time, plus I like an extra Pad Thai for the table because I can never decide ). We persevered because the food is SO tasty, but others may not. That I still rate it 5 stars tells you how good the food is. They just need to fix that one small thing.

Some good food here albeit a bit overpriced. Some of the specials warrant the price tag (sea bass or other fish dishes) but the Thai green curry is a standard dish which should be more affordable. That said, good food, good ambience and service. Unusual for Charlton in that it feels more upmarket and could do with more places like this. We had lunch in the Cattleya before a football match at Charlton. It is not that far up the hill from the station with a pleasant enough dining room that seats about 40 covers. It was quite full but not packed which surprised us a bit although they offer no lunchtime special deal and the pricing is not cheap - over £10 for most mains. They also didn't offer us complimentary prawn crackers. We had a Pad Thai and a Green Curry - both were good, and they do Singha and San Miguel on draft. I have been a regular customer of this place for about 8 years and would strongly recommend you try this place, especially if you are a local, or come along and try it even if you’re not local. The food is tasty and the staff friendly, helpful and eager to please. The place is fully licenced and serve san Miguel on draught, bottled Thai lagers and British bitters as well as a range of European and new world and Thai wines and a selection of cocktails. You can just have a drink there if you want but usually people who do that end up eating there anyway. The restaurant is not entirely Thai cuisine as when the owner Nittaya took over the establishment is was already a locals tapas bar, but because the tapas was very popular she decided to keep the tapas side as well as producing a Thai selection so you can have Thai, tapas or a combination of the two. They have a live community band SE7 playing on the last Sunday of each month in a sort of ad hoc jamming section with volunteer singers from the audience and sometimes they hire a professional musician-singer to perform. I personally love the food here, not only for the taste but also the price which is very reasonable, and you can also use their takeaway delivery service which I do occasionally, if the weathers really bad. Being so close to the Charlton football ground it’s great for a pre or post match meal and drink.

Nice atmosphere and lovely friendly staff - has a real local ambience to it despite being an original fusion of Thai and tapas. Very focused on good customer service and good range of dishes. Gets busy on weekends and football match days but that's a testament how good and popular this place is. Some dishes in the tapas menu might be more 'Asian' in the way they are cooked than continental but there is a good range, and they also have a decent enough drinks menu.Well worth a visit and a bit of a hidden gem in many ways because it's tucked away slightly, up the hill from Charlton railway station. They also do live music and other forms of entertainment sometimes.

Originally a Spanish tapas bar, Cattleya is now an established Thai-Med restaurant and bar so great for a pint of San Miguel, a bottle of rioja or an excellent range of Thai dishes. The signature dish of Churos and Chocolata is still very special as well as a good range of Spanish tapas. Great atmosphere, rather eclectic and friendly service. If you're in Charlton, coming to the football or passing through well worth a visit.

This is charltons hidden gem. The best atmosphere is on a match day before the match. It is a small bar/ restaurant and can get very busy so booking a table is a good idea. The staff are very friendly and the red thai curry is delicious.

The food here is absolutely lovely. I can't believe I've lived in Charlton so long and had never been there. The service was a little slow as it was busy but it was really nice once it arrived. Can't wait to come again :)

My soon-to-be-husband and I went here on a date night after a recommendation from a friend. When we got there I was slightly disappointed with the ambience, as I had imagined a romantic candle-lit evening. The chairs are mismatched (with a couple of fold up garden-style chairs), the lights are bright and the overall feel is of a lunch-time cafe, not an evening restaurant. However, we decided to stay as our friend had said the food was really nice.We were glad we did. The food was excellent. Some of the best Thai we've had. The other local Thai restaurant is in Blackheath, but it's more expensive and parking is more of a hassle. The service was good too. All in all, I'd strongly recommend this restaurant. Although they could do more to improve the ambiance, food is the primary reason you eat out, and for that reason you should try Cattleya! :)

Fantastic Thai/Tapas restaurant, fast and friendly service with a wide range of dishes to select from. Thai green curry is especially good

Cattleya specialises in the unusual mix of tapas and Thai. I went with the latter, a superior shin of beef with fresh peppercorns. Really good. My friends all went down the tapas route and everything was pretty good. Prices are reasonable, with a fair collection of wines and Singha beer alongside draft San Miguel. It was packed when I went there and service was a little haphazard, the odd dish didn't show up, but overall this is a very nice place.

Really nice to see a different Cuisine. Think a fusion between indian and african, with lovely goat curries and rotis , was pleasantly surprised and cheap to boot also. Will be adding this to my favorite list.

一個很好的驚喜!出色的新鮮優質食品,大量切割/部分的生魚片以及價格實惠的一切。把它們放在附近很棒!希望他們保持這樣。

We live a few hundred yards from Ratchada. Looks like it's closed: fixtures removed, incoming post littering the floor etc. No signs of life at all. Bye bye.
