Booked online and requested space for a walking aid, they’d reserved us the perfect table! Kelsey was wonderful! Thank you very much!

Food was good however, portion size was terrible. We ordered a "sharer" "loaded" nachos. The nachos were anything but a sharer portion or loaded. We got what seemed to be all the broken pieces of nachos that are at the bottom of the bag, with very little toppings. Disappointing. My partner upgraded the meals for us both to have a large portion of chips. Mine did come with a big bowl of chips however my partners burger only came with a handful of chips. A very big difference in what was supposed to be 2 large sides of chips. The waiter also came to our table 15 mins after we got our dinner and asked if we were finished when we were obviously still eating.

Castlewood Brewers Fayre offers a reliably enjoyable experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The food was tasty and arrived promptly, a testament to the efficient service. We were particularly impressed with the speed without any compromise on quality. The facilities were generally well-maintained, with the toilets being clean and in good order. However, the smaller toilets had a minor issue worth noting: an exposed pipe above the urinal. While this didn't detract significantly from the overall experience, it was a slightly untidy detail in otherwise well-kept restrooms. Despite this small point, Castlewood Brewers Fayre provides good value with its tasty food, quick service, and genuinely friendly staff. We would happily recommend it for a casual and satisfying meal.

Great selection and quality with the "all you can eat" breakfast buffet. Was surprised to find out that hot drinks and juice are included with the price. Two children eat for free with each paying adult as well, which makes this an even more affordable proposition. There is also a good enough selection to cover their ever changing preferences. The food was hot and constantly being topped up, which kept the queue moving quickly. There is plenty of on-site parking. Cannot recommend this enough. Noticed a large indoor play area for the kids but it wasn’t open at the time. Good to know for future reference though as their seems to be a lot less of them these days. Would highly recommend.

We had breakfast here today and it was so nice. The manager, Wayne/wade was so helpful when we first came in and ordered. He took note that we were celebrating a birthday and sent someone over with a bar of chocolate and a card. That was a really lovely touch. The food was delicious. The whole experience was so relaxed and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend to my family and friends. Keep up the good work. X

Didn't eat at the castlewood but called in on our way home for a couple of drinks. The service was fast. The pub was clean and it smelt nice so I'm assuming the food would be good. Great place to bring your kids as there is an indoor play area.

Nice food but why bin the park off?! It’s holiday season!

The food is typical brewers fayre so it's exactly the same as what you get every where. The service is shockingly slow and the staff that were serving did not seem to be very knowledgeable about anything. If they were new they should have been supervised. The tables were all absolutely filthy and sticky. We had to clear a table of dishes and glasses ourselves as well as ask for something to clean it with. No staff offered to come and sort it. Wasn't all that busy when we were in but it does seem to be the norm for brewers fayre thesedays.

Visited yesterday 5/4 absolutely terrible experience! We come here alot and usually I'm always praising the place to people food is usually fantastic but not yesterday! Our Order a Big stack burger & chips which came out cold burgers were so dry and burnt the definitely had been cooked about 4 hours before I came to the restaurant and warmed up!! Also the chips were not hot and the portion size was atrocious I got about 10 chips on my plate! & 8oz Sirloin steak. Again cold and also we ordered sirloin and I'm 99.9% sure they gave us Rump which wouldn't surprise us with everything else. Again chips very poor portion and a tomato that was that hard it could of been used as a grenade. Also cutlery was disgustingly dirty we had to pinch clean ones from a other table. Usually good pub grub but yesterday I wasted nearly £40 terrible service.

brilliant food & having the indoor play area was a bonus 😋 👌 especially when you want to eat and let kids have fun at the same time 4 pound 50 for the children to enter the play area till close but we was only there for nearly 3 hours Kelsey was great and daughter made a friend 🧡

One of our party has a gluten and dairy intolerance, we informed Alishia when she seated us and she couldn't have been more accommodating. Lovely service, great breakfast 😊

Great place for a quiet drink and mesl

I wonder if the management has changed because the whole experience had gone downhill in the last 4 months . Food cold, quorn fillet so hard it was inedible.

Always had a lovely meal but today food was cool dried up peas steak overdone when asked for medium took ages to serve it and nobody in wont be going ack for a while

Best buffet breakfast around, all you can eat for 10.99 you can't beat it. Even tea and coffee and juice is included. They have cooked breakfast, crumpets and croissants and pain au chocolate, and a selection of cereals. The range of breakfast items is impressive

What a shame. We have been here many times but today was the worst we have ever had I am sorry to say. The food was cold, no check back and they didn't even come near to clear the table. 2 mixed grills and a scampi and chips all of it cold and over cooked. Never again.

The staff are extremely helpful i can't sing Emma's praises enough. Emma served me each night for my stay at the connected Premier Inn. And during quite times popped over and had a conversation asking how my day was. Emma was approachable and made me feel at ease and created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere along with all the other staff. As I told the staff next time I'm back in Mansfield I'll definitely be paying here a visit can't recommend enough. The breakfast is served with alot of variety and also the hot breakfast is actually hot compared to some places. 11/10 on everything. Keep up the great work 👍

It was dead for a reason, food took forever, didn't get the order right and when it came it was nearly cold and bang adverage. Park and indoor play area both shut at the same time.

Visit here regularly when staying at the adjoining Premier Inn. Got to say the staff are always really friendly and accommodating and make it an enjoyable place to visit and eat. Food is of a decent standard too.

Typical pub chain food, it's OK but not great, but at end of day get what you pay for. The only real gripe was that the floor and tables could do with a good scrub, both very sticky.

Lovely decor, spacious seating areas and friendly staff. Food was delicious, we went in for a carvery and ended up with a delicious pie. Will be back if we're in the area again.

Sam went above and beyond in her service towards my autistic 18 year old daughter who was out drinking for one of her first times. Sam recognised her difficulty straight away and took her away from the bar where she was starting to experience hypertensive issues. Sam sat at our table and skillfully explained options in a very appropriate manner even though the bar was extremely busy. She put my daughter at ease.

Always go here for breakfast, always top notch service at a great price, especially the kids eat free deals! Nice accessible location. Do wonder why play area wasn't open as it is half term there. Will definitely come back and I do recommend!

First visit. Had carvery - serve till 6pm on Sundays. Roast meats could have been hotter. Good vegetable choices. Best to book. Large carpark. Must enter car registration on arrival as allowed 3 hours but can extend this. Car park shared with premier inn.

Had carvery. Delicious with plentiful flavour. Roast potatoes could be improved (more crispy). Friendly helpful staff.

The food was excellent. However the adults had carvery and took 45 minutes for the kids meals to come out to us.

3 Excellent meals for Valentine’s Day mine was the Katsu chicken curry the Sheff changed my Goujons to grilled as was slimming 😁😁 perfect.

Excellent service and friendly staff as always - visit here often for a mixture of work and leisure and never had a bad experience. Special mentions to Wayde, Neil, Megan, Gemma, Sam, Jamie, Alishia and Lisa for their efforts and friendliness.

For the incredible price of £6 a meal we really enjoyed, sausage and mash, gammon and curry all tasty and enough . The gammon was so tender , onion gravy with sausages lovely. Unlimited coffee and Fanta . Well done Castlewood excellent value and good food

Dirty and run down. two people on our table of four were served dinner and the other two weren't meaning everyone ate separately. Poor all round. Will never eat here ever again. It's a disgrace.

First time here. Staff brilliant. My Gammon perfect. Lovely clean and smart restaurant.

Excellent all round. What a lovely surprise. I'd recommend the sirloin steak which was very good quality and extremely tasty. The staff were all very friendly and I'd give top marks except I can't give top marks for service when I have to order at the bar. The process are very reasonable too and you can get some great discounts on already good prices and a quality meal. We'll be back.

We always stop to eat here when travelling to Chesterfield. The guys again found us a table late lunch time. Gammon and Mixed grill meals perfectly cooked with raspberry tea and Doombar on tap. Staff super helpful and friendly as always. They even do gluten-free options. Thanks again guys.

I ate there last night and was going to have the mixed grill but changed my mind at the till. I went for the carvery which I'd normally avoid. However it was actually excellent perfectly cooked roast potatoes which most places can't achieve. There was nothing I could fault about it. The staff were excellent managing to find me a table when I'd not booked ahead. Nothing was too much trouble. Great selection of beers. I'd suggest you book if you're going on a Sunday as it's pretty busy and I now know why.

Absolutely fine family friendly pub. Only reason why i didnt give 5 stars is because its not the best place ive been too but they are good at what they do.

Good food but was disappointed that we were told there are no tables unless booked and we would have to sit in the bar area even though the place was empty.

Went on Sunday so very busy and noisy food very expensive for what it is ....Carvery best option looked good But what spoilt the whole meal was someones DOG slavering at us from the next table .....since when do Brewers Fayre let dogs in and it wasnt an assistance dog so shudnt have been there.....very unhygenic...

Went in as a group of 18 no problem for them to seat us was busy great value breakfast

Staff were all happy and nice and welcoming especially Connor great atmosphere warm cosy and busy but not packed food took 45 minutes though and it was a basic pizza nothing special the chips nice small tho and garlic bread banging but expensive the pint of lager was £6 but maybe that expected I haven’t drunk for a while It’s ok but the food is mediocre at best the staff make up for it

I'm in a powerchair & there's enough room everywhere, l had steamed fish, mashed potato & mushy peas. we go there once a month as its half way for families to meet, always nice food plus somewhere for the children to play inside & outside

Fab breakfast staff very friendly lots of choice, pancakes yoghurt pastries full English, dab coffee n juices.

Spec for breakfast on the way to the airport Just off the M1 so perfectly located. The staff are very friendly, food was lovely and there's plenty of parking. We went at the end of breakfast and didn't feel pressured to leave.

Very good value for money. Rooms are spotless. Staff are friendly. Bar area is nice and relaxing. Swimming pool and leisure available.

Great food, visit every weekend, provide great gluten free options, don't have to wait ages. Really recommend this place for food.

The only criticism we had was the portion size on the meal deals, some people on the table next to us had the same dishes as some on our table and their portions were much bigger than ours. So although it seems great value you're actually getting less for your money. Breakfast was great though and staff were amazing.

Ordered a plaster with steak,everything was ok,but I couldn't eat the steak,it was so tough and chewy,I told the waitress when she came for the plates,she said sorry,that was it, not happy

I visited here this afternoon with my sister and little boy. In the politest way possible, we were really pleasantly surprised and impressed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate off the daytime menu where we had two main meals for £12 and a three course meal off the children’s menu. We then decided to go back and have some dessert because the mains were so nice. The entire bill came up to £23 and it was really tasty, especially for the price. We look forward to returning! 😊

We had the carvery, good choices, plenty on offer. We were not offered table water and the atmosphere was very noisy.

Been for a carvery today it was lovely , the staff were brilliant and nothing was to much trouble . Deffinatly recommend will come again.

Food was OK, except the chips which neither me nor my friend ate. Didn't like the cheesecake either it tasted powdery and we didn't finish it. Service was quick and the staff were very pleasant.

Gorgeous food, lovely friendly staff

Mid food, mid service and way way too noisy where we sat. Food came out fairly quickly but wasn't anything special, I had the smothered platter and was expecting something mega but it was just 'ok', I know it's a pub for kids and families as its got a play area but young kids shouldn't be running and screaming through the main pub area.(I've got 3 lads) so know how they are sometimes but still it was way too loud in there whilst your trying to have a meal. Nobody came to ask how the food was probably a good job as it wasn't that good. Overall 2/5. Staff were pleasant just not attentive.

My family eat here frequently, we celebrate birthdays here, enjoy their breakfast & go just for the sake of a lovely meal. Our last visit was made extra special by Sam who went above & beyond for us. She greeted me at the till like I was a friend, instantly made me laugh & continued to entertain all of us each time she walked past us. Sam is absolutely amazing. All of the staff are awesome, we love visiting Castlewood.

A joint review for Emma and Sam on front of house and Shaun in the kitchen. Been staying here for 6 months regulary for work and always have the best service, friendly staff and great food. I'm fussy with my steaks and there was no issue in my requests to a change on platter meals and pay extra attention to a good rare steak. Perfect. Highly recommended and always a pleasure to be here during business travels. Thanks

Just popped in for a quick drink and to use the kiddies play area. It was clean and well supervised.

Had a wonderful breakfast at Castle Wood (Brewers Fayre)! It’s an all-you-can-eat buffet with everything you could possibly want to kickstart your day. There’s a great selection of hot food, plus cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, croissants, and even pancakes! I’m a tea lover, and my husband is all about the coffee – both were refillable, which was fab. We were greeted by the lovely Gemma, and Tori and Wayde were also incredibly helpful and friendly, making us feel right at home. We went on a Tuesday, and it was pleasantly quiet, which made for a nice relaxed morning. Highly recommend if you’re looking to fill up before tackling the day ahead!

Nidle place. Food portions a little small in comparison to green king. Staff friendly. Good value on soft drinks.

We nipped in for lunch and for the kids to play in the softplay area. Food was lovely and quite quick service. Staff were all polite and helpful.

Food is lousy nothing good to say the only redeeming thing is breakfast. The beer is flat. If your staying in the Premier Inn do yourself a favor and walk over to the Holiday Inn the food is better especially their specials

Desperate for breakfast so called in here. Cold beans, cold eggs, black pudding soggy and broken up as were the hash browns. Won't bother again. Expensive for what you got and the quality of food

Went for a meal on sat August 18th. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Went to order food and was queuing for around 10-15mins. Staff were walking by the queue and ignoring us. After a 30min wait for 2 jacket potatoes they arrived on one plate and with a jug of gravy instead of coleslaw. Tbf they swopped the coleslaw quite quickly and brought the extra plate. . Then they came over mid meal and asked for the difference in price which was only 80p... I said so we have to pay for your mistakes and she just said yes. Won't be going back ... The staff ignored us....the wait for food was bad considering the place was empty... Then they got the meal wrong and brought it on one plate and then charged us extra for all this.

Lovely pub and food was gorgeous but was a little disappointed with the menu choice, we went on a sat evening and the choice wasn't as much as if we had gone during the week

Service was fast, food matches the price point, just what we needed mid travels

Visited for breakfast this week and was more than happy with the selection and price, basically you got the whole choice as if you've stayed overnight in the hotel. Cost us 20 quid for a family of 4 unlimited drinks and food, absolutely wipes the floor with Toby brekkie which used to be the best, sadly not anymore.

Went as a last minute change of plans, when ordering food for our picky 4 year old wanted chicken poppers with rice and curry sauce on the side instead of chips and peas, the server took our order not saying anything about maybe not being able to do this meal 5 minutes later the server comes back and told us the kitchen refused to do it for him, now they have all these other things with other meals on the menu but they flat out refused because they didn't want to reveal they microwave their meals to us, The kitchen staff need retraining if they are simply unable to swap chips for rice

Enjoyed our meal the staff were very helpful good atmosphere the locals were nice to us can't fault it
