My wife and I visited this restaurant on a quiet wet evening. I had sea bass and my wife had a pork dish and both were excellent. The portions were generous and the wine inexpensive. Both the waitress and chief were friendly and helpful and we even got a complementary digestive. We will definitely go back.

My husband and I had a meal here on Christmas eve. We were told what food was being cooked before we decided. My husband chose from the menu, a 2 course meal for £18, turkey dinner and cheese and biscuits. I had the excellent lamb dish, very tender with vegetables cooked just right, and roast spuds, mint gravy. My husband's turkey was cut really thick, and was so tender. We shared cheese and biscuits. The owner brought us a free drink each at the end. There was a party of eight in too , a family, i think who must have also booked early. The room is small, but certainly makes up for it in ambience, friendliness and excellent food served by 2 lovely waitresses.

23/08/2019: Warm welcome to this attractive venue just off the Main Street. You can sit inside or outside. We had a late breakfast. I had a bacon and fried egg roll and my wife had just bacon. The egg was perfect and bacon good. Locally sourced ingredients used. Definitely worth a visit.
02/09/2019: What a lovely little café. We stopped here on our way back from Galloway Forest Park and are so glad we did. Lovely people that work here that were very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. We had coffee and cake and both were delicious.

28/08/2019: A really interesting bookshop come cafe with several different places to sit including an external area if you’re lucky.
30/10/2019: Popped into Reading Lasses on a brief trip through Wigtown. It's a nice little place where you can grab a cuppa and some cake while having a quick read of the many books if you're so inclined. I can't say much about the cake as I only bought a coffee, but the fact that you can chill out surrounded by interesting books is something all you book lovers will adore about the place. There are many rooms chock to the rafters with all manner of authors literary delights. Take a load off, grab a cuppa and a book, and enjoy the peace and quiet, you won't be disappointed.
