Castle Inn in Shropshire

Really enjoyed great food and friendly service. We both had the steak pie and both loved it. Thursday night special. So good we booked for next Thursday

Visited The Castle today for lunch and the food was delicious and good value for money. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back maybe for Sunday lunch.

I popped into The Castle Inn yesterday for some lunch and to have a different spot to work from. I was met with a lovely location, really friendly staff and exceptional quality food. It was great to see how busy it was for a lunchtime, either people popping in for a drink or a meal. I can’t wait to see what else you do with it in the coming months.

Lovely friendly & efficient staff. The food was excellent - my father in law's steak was cooked perfectly for him (& he is usually very fussy). Really enjoyed our lunch & plan to visit again soon.

Food was OK plenty of it but came to the table luckwarm. Service is slow - waited 1hour 10mins for mains (not great when kids are hungry) and a good 30mins for pudding. Bar staff were not overly friendly unfortunately.

What an amazing experience. We were informed by friends that the Castle Inn had been recently taken over by new management, so we decided to give it a go. Well what can I say other then, we had the best food, drinks and the staff were fantastic. Can't wait to visit again, if this is the experience we had after they have only been open for over a week, then I can't wait to come back. This is definitely a place to watch out for.

My sister booked us three double rooms. After booking she got a call to say the restaurant and bar was closed, and only the rooms were in use. That was not mentioned at the booking company. We arrived to a totally empty venue, it seemed we were the only customers. One of the codes given was wrong but after a call to jenny Marsh on 07855332224 the correct code was given. Being as everything else was closed we turned on the telly, to find none of them worked, we auto tuned them but the pictures were useless to watch. We called jenny again, as the emergency number was disconnected we called her mobile, I asked if someone could come and sort the telly, she told me she was away on a trip, and no assistance was available, I tried to explain that this was not acceptable, then a foul mouth male came on the phone, and told me to f--- off then he hung up. So we had to then drive home, which is a four hour trip. So all in all, a pretty rubbish service, it seems that the two people jenny and her friend, are just looking after the property, and making a bit of money on the side booking out rooms. So I would advise avoid this place as much as possible.

Oh Dear, Totally Dissapointing. Sunday lunch, Cold plates, cold food, Fatty beef,cold gravy, Apart from the dining room being warm , on a cold day, there is nothing good we can say about this experience,except we won't be returning.

We booked a table of 8 via Facebook and the response was prompt. We were celebrating a 75th Birthday and we’re able to take our own cake and balloon - it wasn’t a problem. Service was impeccable as was the food albeit a bit slower than we expected however that is no criticism because the food was piping hot and plentiful so understandably took longer and that was absolutely fine, freshly cooked and you could tell. Our waitress was attentive and the restaurant was busy but she still checked in and made sure we were okay. We were regulars prior to lockdown and we will certainly visit again real soon. Thank you to all the staff we can’t fault you, the service or the food! Highly recommend you - we had a lovely evening, thank you ☺️

Had a lovely lunch today, garlic mushrooms, one roast beef, one roast pork and a lovely vanilla cheesecake. Very friendly attentive staff, getting back to pre pandemic. Keep up the good work 👌👍 Thank you

I had the misfortune to be without power due to storm Arwen, the night temperature was below zero, my son was concerned about my health & he booked me in here for one night, I was very well looked after & the warm,comfortable room was a delight, lots of hot water & big fluffy towels, Thanks to all.

We visited the Castle Inn in March, within a week, everywhere was on shutdown due to corona virus. In August, with limited opening, the Castle was open for a limited time, so we booked for a meal and an overnight stay. So glad we did, David, the owner made us feel safe, doing most of the work himself, due to most of his staff being stepped down. We enjoyed a lovely drink or two, a good evening meal, and as usual, a good night evening stay, in a lovely clean room. Thank you so much David, will be back. Well recommended.

We visited here again, after staying here last year. The staff are friendly, food is good and sleeping accommodation clean. They have ample free parking, and a range of decent beers. With what is going on with Coronavirus, some folk have been cancelling their stay. Such a pity, they are doing everything they can, and like a lot of establishments, without customers, they will be struggling to continue. Just because it may seem empty, it as nothing to do with the Castle Inn.

We were staying at Rosehill Manor and chose the Castle Inn for Sunday lunch. They managed to accommodate our party of 19 including 4 children easily. The staff are lovely, all very pleasant know exactly what they are doing. Everyone enjoyed their lunch of Sunday roast and dessert to follow. Would definitely recommend.

Never been before so we planned to go on the way back from Liverpool. Booked a table for 6 and they git us in nicely. The place was dead when we arrived but that was very worrying for a Sunday tea time however we were pleasantly surprised how wonder the food was and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

It was a "needs" stop as opposed to a planned stop for lunch. Easily accessible from the main road with plenty of parking but once inside we were definitely disappointed. We found a table in the bar area and ordered a sandwich (Why, oh why do they have to use fairly tasteless cheese?) & a soup of the day. Both were very average and eaten quickly so that we could get back on the road. Total bill, including 1 1/2 pints of cider - £16.25 (cash only at the time)

The Castle looks nice from outside but it’s devoid of character inside. Straightforward menu with a decent selection of wines by the glass. Service fine but nothing stands out. Safe bet for the traveller but not really a destination.

My brothers and sisters in law went to The Castle inn at Bletchley yesterday for lunch, the food and service was excellent.

First time , as we always pass this location on fast A41 Dual carriageway , we decided to call in . On arriving and not to busy 6.30pm on a Thursday , we found a little disarray at the bar/reception we did not know what to do , so we ordered our drinks and had to ask where do we go and what do we do , regards the restaurant ? He poured our drinks , then we told him we wanted to eat , so he took us to the Restaurant area , which was pleasant enough , nice table and menus . I had the Castle Grill [£15.95}, and my wife the Battered Cod{£11.95} , and Daughter{£14.95} Sirloin Steak , cannot fault the time it took to arrive all at once as well , except my Grill came without the Egg , and i had to ask , it came in seconds . Cod o.k , Steak o.k . So when the dessert board came we had the Baileys Cheesecake [£4.95] absolutely fab ! Then we asked for the bill , and it came with two Alien drinks on we had not ordered at £8 extra ,WHICH WAS TAKEN OFF RIGHT AWAY .! Overall very good a little over priced for everything but the location sells it , and how sad that a little more experience from servers would make this a lot better , something missing that needs to be put right , would i call again YES .!

Took our parents for lunch and we all had a lovely meal. I had the castle grill and it was let down by poor cheap frozen sausages, shame as the gammon and steak were beautiful. Other meals were spot on and very well cooked cod. Would recommend calling in if your in the area.

We turned up at a busy time with no reservation and we were welcomed with no problems at all. The food was very good, plentiful and was not expensive

We ate here to celebrate a birthday. A large party and we were catered for perfectly. Everyone enjoyed their food which arrived together and perfectly cooked. Service was attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend.

I spent an afternoon with my wife, having a few very pleasant pints of Guinness, followed by a 3 course evening meal, then an over night stay.

Me and my family went here for lunch last week during a busy lunch service. The food we had was lovely, filling and reasonably priced, definitely worth what we paid for. Beer was ok, had a pint of the real ale and it was warm and flat, staff were notified and it was changed straight away, changed for a lager instead. Staff in general were friendly. Decor in the dining room could do with a face lift, very dated.

We were a party of four celebrating a birthday. The pub, because that is what it is, is very impressive from the outside and as you stepped through the door it looked to be a rather plush inside but this impression soon changed as you stepped into the dining room. Tables were set out like a 1960s cafe or greasy spoon. The tables themselves were quite small and cheap looking, chairs were not sets just odd vairs.ŕe

Popped into the Castle Inn as baby needed a feed. The service was ok, pity that the glass of coke ordered had lipstick on the rim, when we asked for a clean glass the waiter glady brought an empty glass, so we pointed out the lipstick to which his response was that he would ask the kitchen to check the glass washing machine... so left us to pour the coke from the dirty glass into the clean one. The food was nice, but the portions a little small considering the price, the service was friendly and not intrusive. Would have give 4 stars if it wasn't for the dirty glass. The place could do with a makeover or at fresher look, but overall it served the purpose.

What ever your taste this little gem will deliver. From the regular menu or the extensive specials board the food is excellent. Ample portions for all appetites.

We stopped here for dinner at short notice and were welcomed. Good typical pub food promptly served by friendly staff. Squash and goats cheese lasagne was tasty but not sure I would have recognised the ingredients without the menu.Others had a burger and the roast chicken and were very happy with their choices. Well cooked starters and lovely home cooked puds.

We stopped for a drink on the way to N Wales. This is an old pub but is beautifully kept (and has a block of sparkling new rooms adjacent if you want to stay). We were made very welcome, and the restaurant was prepared to offer us a meal, even though we arrived exactly at closing time, which was considerate of them.

On the way up we just had a sandwich and baguette both of which came with chips and salad . l beautiful home baked ham on my sandwich .

Awesome homecooked food even the desserts are homemade, 100% service. no waiting for a table and the staff always make you feel welcome. everyone so friendly

Booked in for meal with family to celebrate my Mum's 85th Birthday.12 Adults and one little girl.We booked the table in the restaurant for 6.30-7.00 pm.Everything was ready for us when we arrived,it had been freezing cold all day so to have a lovely cosy room was just lovely.We ordered drinks and put them on our tab.Our orders for both drinks and food were taken very efficiently.They have a huge choice on their menu and also a specials board.Our starters included,Prawn Cocktail,Garlic Mushrooms,Breaded Brie,Breaded chicken strips.Our mains included,Steak,Lasagne,Steak burger,Steak and Ale Pie,Mixed Grill,Lamb Shank and also a childs sausage & chips.All the food was excellent.We also had a couple of bottles of house wine and the bill came to £250 which i thought was really good value.We will certainly be booking in again soon.

Was recommended by a local had a sandwich with chips as did my wife and youngest daughter, my eldest had the homemade tomato soup. Great quality food had the atmosphere of a old hotel with old people bus trips. But a great lunch with polite service. Left happy and full.

Had a snack lunch. Helpful staff and adjusted sandwich filling to suit a restricted diet. Adjusted the price downwards as I didn’t have chips. Only downside, bar area not very warm.

Stayed at the castle on sat 2nd dec it was excellent . The greeting was first class showed to our rooms . The rooms were very clean lovely and warm and welcoming . Bathrooms also clean and plenty of hot water . Breakfast served only till 9 but the food was freshly cooked and lovely ingredients . My parents were in the disabled room very well set out . Would highly recommend The Castle

We stayed here while on a recent fishing trip to nearby Ellerdine trout fishery - the food was lovely, worth coming for lunch or evening meal.

Well worth a visit, booking for Sunday Lunch a necessity, always a good sign. Run by hands on proprietor. Difficult to fault.

Had a lovely steak dinner here. And not short on the amount. Fantastic atmosphere. Very friendly staff.

Debido a las obras en la A53 a la comisaría nos 41, de haberlo hecho, nos detuvimos en el Castillo para el almuerzo y nos quedamos encantados con la calidad de la comida que tuvimos también un excelente servicio y relación calidad-precio! Lo disfrutamos tanto que nos aseguramos de desvío de atrás de la misma manera al día siguiente en el viaje de regreso, de nuevo no nos decepcionó. Probablemente la única vez que he estado contento por cierre de la calle.

Aparecimos aquí en vez de ir a london, ya que pasan a menudo aquí y por una vez recordado que deben hacer una visita. Yo opté por la chaqueta de atún y mi compañero tenía la lasaña vegetariana. Tanto bien, aunque estaba más de lasaña un bowl desierto así que no es fácil de comer, esperaba más de una presentación tipo bandeja? En general, el servicio amable y volvería de nuevo.

El domingo por la tarde y caminar hacia un lugar atrapado en el pasado (en el mal sentido)

El GPS nos dijo que habíamos ahorrar un par de horas, evitando las autopistas, y nos llevaron a lo largo de una ruta revisada por la 41. Nos habían desviado de esta manera una vez antes del año pasado cuando llamamos a este encantador restaurante para una escapada rápida y eran de lo más satisfechos. Esta vez nos dimos cuenta el Castle Inn estaba en la ruta y cuatro de nosotros convertido en principio para una escapada rápida. Tuvimos sándwiches tostados, pero lo sándwiches tostados, tostados brillante con patatas fritas y ensalada en la zona más cómoda. Precios tan razonables. Sin duda te llamará la próxima vez que vaya de esa manera.

Teléfono para reservar una mesa, mencionó que uno de los partidos estaría utilizando una silla de ruedas. Cuando llegamos, las rampas de sillas de ruedas y de espera. Fácil acceso al comedor. La comida era buena, teníamos chuletas de tocino y nuestros amigos el pollo, todas las comidas estaban calientes y sabrosos. Los precios no eran demasiado caro, 20 libras por 2 con bebida principal y suaves. Personal amable, sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

Mi hijo y yo llamamos en conseguir en nuestro camino a un partido de fútbol. Mi hijo decidió sobre el jamón, huevos (2) patatas fritas y una pinta. Tuve un sándwich de queso, papas fritas y una taza de té. La comida era deliciosa y casera mientras esperábamos. La camarera era precioso, ella fue atenta, pero no "en tu cara". El restaurante tenía una estufa que en un día frío y muy acogedor. Un edificio muy tradicional y un ambiente muy acogedor. Los precios eran muy buenos para la comida.

Tuvimos una comida deliciosa para una celebración de cumpleaños, el 22 de nosotros tuvimos una elección de tres entrantes, platos principales y postres, la comida estaba muy buena. El servicio era excelente y el personal muy atento y servicial. Teníamos niños, y cuidaron muy bien. El comedor da a la hermosa campiña de shropshire. En conjunto el sitio era muy acogedor, tenemos ganas de volver otra vez.

La primera vez que visito este lugar en algunos años. Mi pareja y yo decidimos ir por una comida entre semana y no podía decidir dónde ir. Me sugirió este lugar como he oído cosas buenas sobre la comida. Debo decir que no nos decepcionó, la buena comida y un servicio estupendo, y como solo vive bajo a 10 km de distancia visitaremos muchas veces de nuevo.

Great building, friendly staff, nice food, cheap enough. however, no nappy change facilities in the gents, so my wife had to change our little girl in the ladies. Surely a pub of this size can have a separate changing room??

Vine aquí para una fiesta de cumpleaños y quedé muy impresionado por la comida y el nivel del personal Castle Inn. Nada era demasiada molestia y todas las comidas eran deliciosos y los postres estaban riquísimos. Bien merece una visita y será uno normal para nosotros.

Nos alojamos aquí este fin de semana de Pascua, reserva de última hora. La habitación era de un tamaño genial por una habitación doble, limpio n impecable. El desayuno estaba bien. Vimos el menú especial para esta noche y era muy atractivo. Tuve un cordero hamburguesa de menta, muy sabrosa, gran parte en el plato. Mi otra mitad había pechuga de carne, raíces vegetales. Llena de sabor sin duda será viajar a volver otra vez.

We went here as had passed many times on our way to telford so decided to have our aniversary meal here. What a disappointment! To start we ordered 'crusty breads with oil' what we got was slices of bread which had been buttered and a pot of oil with a tiny dribble of balsamic vinegar..... No crusty bread or ciabatta in sight! Surprising it got worse when the mains came, I had the mixed grill, the steak was almost alive and bleeding on the plate 'requested medium' the Gammon was SO salty it was inedible and the mushroom had been deep fried and exploded with grease everywhere when it was cut and the chips were rock hard and cold and my wife had a chicken Maryland which was a lump of rubbery chicken with one rasher of bacon rapped round and a bit of grated cheese, the whole meal was disgusting only made worse by the complete ignorance of the staff, blatant disregard for our complaints and the waitresses skirt was so short everytime she was leaning over tables you got a rather unpleasant eye full! All in all extremely disappointing and we ended up at McDonald's.

El ambiente del lugar es la tierra de un poco 'viejo hombre pub" pero la comida aquí es fantástica, especialmente por el dinero. Grandes porciones de comida. Tuve la baguette de filete de minutos, que estaba cocinado a la perfección y con algunas buenas patatas fritas y ensalada. Tienen buenas cervezas de barril ello también. Volvería a comer aquí de nuevo cuando pasando.

Stopped for a cheeky lunch en route to North Wales. Great service, smashing food, hubby especially thrilled with the substantial mixed grill. Will be returning again on our journey home. Good job guys.

Habiendo estado aquí antes, que estaban en la zona y buscando un lugar para comer, parado. El restaurante era bastante ocupado, con un par de grupos que el menú de Navidad y sobre otras 4 mesas. nos dijeron que había una cola de unos 20-30 minutos de ordenar nuestra comida debido al gran número de comensales. Nos debidamente nos dio a la orden y estaban dispuestos a esperar. La comida llegamos después de unos 25 minutos, y fue decepcionante en la calidad. Mi marido tenía el hígado y bacon, que era muy grande en tamaño de porción pero muy seco. Había un montón de papa, pero muy poco de verduras. Tuve un bistec que estaba preparado a pedido pero había muy poco sabor. Una vez habíamos terminado nuestra comida, esperamos unos 15 minutos antes de que nuestras platos nos quitaron ordenó inmediatamente y queso y galletas. Había una mayor esperar 15 minutos para que este aspecto. El director fue corriendo de un lado a otro intentando constantemente para llegar a todo el mundo y ella tenía una joven ayudando a que parecía no tener sentido de urgencia y estaba más preocupado con al abrir su margen de su rostro cada 5 segundos, que era muy higiénico. Decidimos no optar por café ya que no dan otra larga espera. Una visita decepcionante.

Have eaten here a few times now. The food and the service is wonderful and both to a high standard. Staff are really good with the children and we have turned up before service started but they were still very welcoming. Will definitely go back.

En este pub Llamado hoy en nuestro camino de vuelta de Chester, es un lugar precioso, lástima no puedo decir lo mismo de la comida. Aunque era abundante y estaba caliente era totalmente sosa y sin sabor. La única cosa que con cualquier sabor era las zanahorias. El personal de la otra parte era muy servicial y educado. También tuvimos que soportar otros clientes discutiendo como un hombre mantuvo soplando su nariz y estoy de acuerdo con el denunciante es desagradable. No creo que deberían haber sido tan expresiva como su desconcierto por otros comensales.

Hemos estado pasara rapidísimo este edificio blanco y negro XIX con una torrecilla durante años y sólo nos detuvimos aquí porque nuestro punto de parar a medio camino anterior se puso demasiado grave para palabras. No te pierdas este precioso edificio antiguo, que fue remodelado hace pocos años, porque está en su propia en el campo de Shropshire. Hay un gran aparcamiento enfrente y un agradable jardín a un lado. Dentro del edificio es luminoso y ventilado y hay un montón de características originales, que hacen del hotel un lugar acogedor. El restaurante tiene un extenso menú compuesto de local, productos de temporada y especialidades diarias pero optamos por £9 snack bar; un "steak baguette" que venía con patatas fritas, ensalada, caseros col, setas y cebollas fritas. La baguette era por lo menos 10" long (cortada en dos) y las trozos de carne dentro, estaban muy bien tierna y cocinado a la perfección. Había mucho para mí para terminar así que en nuestra próxima largo en coche, creo que compartiré. Hay pintas sacó a mano en el bar y no hay ruido de la carretera, lo cual hace de este hotel un lugar perfecto para recargar las pilas en la ruta. Los aseos están en la planta baja, con grandes puertas más anchas por lo que no hay problemas de acceso. Aunque hay un escalón en la entrada principal hay algunas rampas justo dentro del porche para usuarios de silla de ruedas (aunque yo no te alejes un discapacitado).
