False advertisement for starters!! Outside board says £3.80 for a large chips and gravy! Typical tourist price anyway YET INSIDE £5.10!!!! Just for a large chips and gravy!!!! Shameful. Preying on tourists. Walk up the road and explore more reasonable prices cafes ECT

Terrific fish and chips. Fresh-cooked haddock in crispy batter was great (though prefer skin-on myself). Portions were completely satisfying. And the house tartare sauce the best I have ever tasted. Good value - 5 full bellies for about £30 :) Popped up top of Castle Mound and watched the sunset. Perfect end to the day!!

Castle Chippy is a 10/10!!! Absolutely amazing food from my home town, used to go everyday when I was younger. It will never disappoint, best place town, I genuinely cried when it burnt down, but stuck with you during the hard times. I very very very VERY much recommend to anyone, anywhere. Why anyone would ever eat here more than once is beyond me, lots of good fish and chips around Clitheroe but this really is the worst, they use frozen fish for starters, chips are nasty, i wouldn’t ever buy from here again, the worst chippy we have ever been to.

This has to be the best chippy in the North West. Myself and my son drive over from Blackburn at least once a month to get our chips and gravy fix. Fresh chips every time, tasty thick and quite unique gravy (that I’ve never had from other chippy’s. )The staff are lovely and it’s always busy which says a lot. Great opening times. I really cannot fault Castle chippy it’s simply the best!

This looks a really nice chippy in a great location, I ordered fish and chips for me and my wife we sat in the car and i opened the wrapping it was dripping in grease from the fish . First time since re-furb. Ordered fish and chips and bad sign when it's served and wrapped within 20 secs. Found chips to be luke warm burned crispy with no taste obviously re-warmed or left for some time. Fish similar soggy batter off white fish - not just cooked. Disappointing and from my 4 visits in the last 18 months it's hit and miss - today waste of £7.60.

I've found 4 chip shops in Clitheroe, and eaten from 3. Ain't gonna lie, this is the one you go to if your in town.. They have saveloy 😮 Not sure what fish I got the first time, but it tasted fishy so it's all good, looked like a sausage in batter at first, but was more fish looking when I went back the next time, although I had the meat n potato pie which was ok, but not as good as Alpes the butchers which are truly awesome. Throw in the fact it has saveloy, and great chips.. it's hands down the winner.. I know.. saveloy.. up north!, you know how long I looked for saveloy up north.

I tried to be polite, but anyone who has worked or shopped in Booths, knows that Cliteronians, of the moneyed type, do not like to wait. After all they are above the rubbing rags, like my handicapped son and I. They pop in, taking their young offspring home from their private school, buy them a cone of chips, and pretend they are like "us" plebs. Some ignore the fact that a real handicap is for life. The currie sauce was very salty. I made the mistake of putting extra vinegar and salt on my chips { As young people are against salt and vinegar, so sprinkle it on, like a vicar at a christening who has just had a water bill!], which were of the brewers' droop variety, by the time I arrived home, and I live in Clitheroe centre. So, everything was overly salty.Happily, my son informed me that the curry sauce was salty, but the pies and the dabs were totally adequate.

This is a great option if you are staying nearby and fancy something other than an overpriced and under satisfying breakfast at local hotels.Unusual in that they open at 9 and seemingly will provide you with a full menu even in the morning.Add to that helpful and friendly staff I only rated this business at 4 because I didn't have chance to try the fish'n'chips. I have used this chippy on several occasions and always been happy but today I fancied fish and chips for tea so nipped over and ordered very quick service and polite as usual when I got home couldn’t believe that every single chip had black head on them and had a green tinge quite clearly the potatoes used had seen better days I didn’t eat them I just put them In the bin . They need to up their game and have some sort of quality control as sending food out like that soon gives a place a bad reputation very quickly if it done on a regular basis . Very disappointed this time sorry yes I will try it again but if the same happens again I would not be recommending this place again

The bus stop was disgusting, outside the Pendle Club on Lowergate, and so typical of Clitheroe now-with excess traffic, at high speed.... so many important people pratting around... Definitely the best chip shop in Clitheroe (the queues out the door prove that) but why do they shut so early? The haddock is excellent, and they have all the other types of fish. The chips are crispy EVERY TIME and what more can you ask for from a fish and chip shop? Parking can be a bit of an issue but park in any official car park (free on Sundays) and this is a five minute walk from any of them. A great treat after you've visited the castle or been for a walk in the Ribble Valley.

We live locally but heard that Greendale had changed ownership and wanted to try it out. We’ve since been several times for brunch and lunch and keep going back for more .. If plain menus and ordinary fare is your preference maybe it won’t suit, but if you favour culinary flair and a point of difference to the norm Greendale is definitely worth a visit. They support local producers offering a small but interesting menu. There’s always a specials variation & everything is homemade. They have an alcohol licence and even pair some of their meals with various beverages as an option. The coffee is gorgeous, & served with a little homemade shortbread… what’s not to like A little Gem right on our doorstep, with great service and ambience into the bargain! 🤗
