Castello Grill House in Cardiff

I brought the restaurant based on the praise on Google Maps and it clearly contradicts expectations: The food is medium, not that food, and they say the most delicious grilled restaurant in the comments. I asked to sit at a table for two people, and we were only two people, and they refused, under the pretext that this table is for large families, and a few minutes later, two people entered and sat in it, and they were two people. If there is a normal reservation, tell me that it is reserved, and I understand the situation, but you say this is a word for many families, and they enter two people after me and sit in it, okay?

We had a really good time there the portions are large and the food was so tasty. The staff ware so friendly and kept on coming with free staff for my two years old child.

Very good experience.the restaurant is clean and the staff are professional.Delicious food and complementary soup on the house.That was our first visit and won’t be the last .

We’ve been to this restaurant a few times brother food is very good. However the service is quite poor due to shortage of staff. All grills are excellent, starters are delicious like hommos, baba ganooj, zazike, bread and lentil soup.

We had wonderful food last Friday for group of 28 women. The food was all well cooked, meat was tender, nothing was overcooked and food was not over-seasoned. Service was great for such a large group. All our meals were served at the same time. Well looked after by Omar. Lovely atmosphere and clean. Would definitely come here instead of others on City Road.

Yesterday, I had a chance to dine at Castello Grill House and was thoroughly impressed. Ordered the Meat Lovers Mix and Half Baby Chicken. The Meat Lovers Mix was a delightful combination of tender lamb kofta, juicy sheesh kebabs, and succulent chicken sheesh, all served with crispy fries. Each bite was a burst of flavour. The Half Baby Chicken was equally delicious, cooked to perfection. While the prices might seem a bit steep, the quality of the food definitely justifies the cost. If you're looking for a taste of authentic Syrian cuisine, Castello Grill House is a must-try.

Fatima the server and Airam the chef were phenomenal, the food was delicious, and they were all so gracious. We had a wonderful time and experience. so much so, I took two different groups of people back within two days.

The worst experience ever, The manager itself has the dirty behaviour. The managers behaviour towards the customers, especially to the girls is too bad. Secondly, the deserts served by castilo was the worst deserts i ever had.

Uomar provided excellent service! The food was tasty and service was quick. Complimentary tea was a much appreciated feature.

Castello is one of the best restaurant in Cardiff. I used to eat in different restaurants, however their foods are amazing. Specially Lamb Mandi and Mix lamb. Staffs are very friendly. Specially “Uomar” is outstanding and cooperative. So we recommend Castello at any time ……

It was my first time in Castello, and the food was quick and very good. Not only the food was great, but the service was exceptional from Umar, he was fantastic. Umar made me and my family very welcome at Castello, it was a pleasure to be served by him. Castello make sure you keep him, I had a very good first time experience at this restaurant, would highly recommend.

This is our second time being in Caslello and what an amazing experience we had , great food and super fresh with tasty flavours. Absolutely amazing food. Meat was beautiful, salad was fresh and rice was really tasty. The gentlemen also gave me some lentil soup on the house to try and it was so good! Also the young lady who was serving me was very polite and helpful. Highly recommend I will definitely return

If you’re ever in Cardiff, this is the spot to go for the evening. The food and service is top notch, compared to other places offering this cuisine, this place is the best. The waitresses and waiters greet you with a smile, Making sure to check up on you throughout the evening. Special compliments to Omar, if not for the excellent food and atmosphere, you must go to meet him. He’s an absolute delightful waiter, welcoming, and a pro conversationalist. I also want to relay my compliments to the waitresses, they’re pleasant and helpful. It’s nice to be greeted with a smile, their service will definitely have people coming back. A complimentary starter, either soup or some bread with an array of dips, is offered. Tea is also offered at the end of the meal!

After a long day, all we wanted was some good food and Castello Grill House was the place. Their lamb shank was the best. Excellent service and nice place.

My husband & I visited this evening after being reccomended by friends. We were not disappointed, a warm welcome on arrival, food was delicious and service was great.

Excellent food, fabulous service, very good prices, with a main dish, we got a lovely lentil soup on the house. Lamb mandi was very tender and tasty, lamb shish was excellent. Waitresses were very friendly and polite.

The mixed grill was very good; it served three people well and included fries and rice. The spicy chicken was excellent as well. One of the best eateries is this one, which is close to Cardiff City Road.

Great experience. Pleasant atmosphere reminded me of being in turkey. Lentil soup was just on another level. Very clean and they have wheelchair access. Parties or single dining they cater for both. Definitely recommend.

We visited this place on Eid day today and it was absolutely busy and we had to wait for the food little bit but there was soup giving on the house while waiting but the food it was absolutely worth waiting for it and definitely coming back

Very poor customer service. We were waiting more than 10 minutes to have the Menu & they gave it after asking for it. After giving the order also they took so long to serve our food. Menu waiting time and food waiting time is almost 40-45 minutes. I was to get up & left the restaurant, at that time we got our food. Felt we were ignored badly. I don't recommend this restaurant.

The service was poor. I had to wait an hour and 15 minutes for my order, despite being told it would take only 30 minutes. The hygiene was lacking, with a dirty table and dust on the radiator beside it. Initially, the staff were not very friendly, though they improved after we complained about the delay. The grilled chicken was so tough inside that I had to use my hands to cut it.

Halloumi wrap was nice, would definitely reccomend fresh orange juice.

Food was good, not a bad place to try out grill items specifically the lamb chops were amazing. Their spicy sauce were good.

I visited your restaurant today with my partner. Unfortunately, my lamb Mandi was delivered late and cold, as if it had been taken straight from the fridge. The service was also disappointing. I urge you to improve both food quality and service for a better dining experience.

Got recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint, food was beautiful, lamb shish was cooked to perfection and the presentation was amazing. Portions were good size and pricing was cheap for what you got. Staff friendly and can’t do enough. Me and the partner loved it and will be back and I will be recommending you to others! Keep the service and quality like you got it and you will be thriving.

Thought I'd give this place a go and was not disappointed, immaculately clean , staff are very welcoming and well mannered friendly and helpful, took me back a bit because its on the site of the exchange pub which stood their in the late 80s and early 90s. We booked but you could walk in and grab a table , the food is stunning, we had complimentary bread and dips to start , I went for the castello chicken wings with half and half with side salad and my better half went for the boneless chicken breast with rice and salad 👍

Just to be clear: this is not a bad restaurant. The food is okay. But it is not as good as it used to be in 2021. Back in that time, the food was full of flavor; just the rice alone was delicious. The chicken shawarma was incredible. The garlic sauce. The bread. Everything tasted authentic, just as I eat it in my home country. Even the packaging was better. I don't know what changed since that time, but it's not the same anymore. It seems to have more oil and less flavor. it is still an acceptable restaurant and I still order from it every once in a while, but I just wish it would go back to that high quality that it used to have a few years ago.

For starters we had Moutabel, which was not at all what we expected. It was a big mush, topped with herbs that tasted like pencil sharpener. 😬 Thr pita was too thin and didn't have any flavour. For mains we went for the chicken a la cream and the spicy shawarma dish. For sides we ordered Greek salad with no olives, but it came with olives and the herbs on top of it again like a pencil sharpener. We also ordered a side of fries. The atmosphere was nice and staff lovely, but both chicken dishes were huge and i could barely finish one. Minus the herb spices the meal was quite nice. I like jow the mushroom sauce went with both rice and chicken. The herbs really ruined the salad. The mocktails were both amazing, but when you go towards the end you can't get the juice through the straw because of the bits so it's a bit annoying, but still loved that!

The food wasn't great, but it did come in large portions. The Flying Burger has close to no flavour and the chicken is quite litteraly white. The Kufta tasted like it has been kept in the freezer for a year and the Chips were weirdly dry. The Waitresses were good and let us swap tables, so the service was great.

Visited the restaurant on Thursday night, staff looked very lost, while waiting for a table so many of them came up to us, there was no communication in between them. Left my baby milk bottle, called back in the morning to go and pick it up for them to tell me they put it in the bin! Staff need to be trained a act professionally! Never going back!!

I Visited Castellos one weekday afternoon to catch up with a friend. I have been previously, however, this instance I wanted to try new things on the menu. For starters, I had the moussaka which was pleasent and had a nice taste to it. I found it was best with the flatbread they provide. My friend enjoyed her houmous with shawarma. I would get this again next time. For our main, my mixed grill was really nice. Nothing new from what I had before, but for lunch on a Thursday afternoon, it does just fine. The shish kebab I took as takeaway at home. It was just as nice as the grill chicken and lamb pieces I had in the restaurant. My friend found the chicken wrap okay. Overall, I would return here. It was a nice atmosphere and the staff were attentive. In addition, the food was of good standard 4/5

Amazing food, probably one of the best grill houses on city road right now Docked a star because service can be slow and we weren't given water for the table when we went.

Ordered from uber eats. The chicken burgers ware undercooked, the steak was well done even though I asked for medium rare, chips were alright and the chicken strips and half chicken were overcooked. Would never recommend anyone to order from here, maybe you would have to dine in. Never written a review before since I find them a hassle but this was too bad not to.

Customer service is poor, the waitresses almost pick and choose who to serve nicely (mostly the men) hehe oh and they got my order wrong, not the first time. Food was cold and it tasted like it was reheated about five times, I’d give it about a solid 2/10 and it’s pretty obvious hygiene isn’t the best. One of the waitresses did show a bit of an attitude as well. Overall the experience was pretty appalling, especially for their prices lol
