Casa Mexicana in Bristol, City of

A wonderful experience as always at Casa Mexicana, my wife and I thoroughly enjoy our visits here. We had our family visiting from the US and knew that Casa Mexicana was the place to take them. The food was incredible as always, we had Nachos to start, I had Chicken and Steak Fajitas as a main and my wife had Chicken Burritos followed by Churro’s for pudding. The food was incredibly tasty, the staff were very polite and service was fast. The staff were incredible, constantly checking in on us, making sure we were always topped up with drinks and that we were happy with our meal. Although we had some very fussy members of the party, nothing was too much hassle for the wonderful staff here, they catered to our every need with a smile on their face. A wonderful experience, with bubbly staff and incredible food, we will be back very soon. Thank you Casa Mexicana.

Visiting from the United States, I never thought I would find an outstanding Mexican restaurant in the UK. I had the nachos for an appetizer and the chicken chimichangas for dinner. Both were delicious, hot and full of flavor! I was shocked by how good the food was. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff were incredible. This is a place I would highly recommend for anyone whether you live in Bristol or traveling through or to. Definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to.

Greeted by warm and friendly staff on arrival. The food was excellent! We had the nachos and ultimate fajita which was unreal! Lovely cocktails, and a great evening! Would recommend this place for authentic mexican food!

Very poor service, very slow. Ordered drinks which took over 20 minutes to then only be brought 2, and then told cider was sold out. Then 3 out of 4 dishes came and one person had finished by the time the 4th dish came WITH sour cream when specifically we asked without. Slightly concerning if anyone came here with allergies if they were this careless. We’re only offered one pint off the bill , which we had to ask if anything could be done for the poor service for this to be offered. Then in last minute attempt to save face the chef offered 4 shots😂 Will not be returning again!

I just want to say that I've been coming here for about ten years on various dates and birthdays and anniversaries and I adore it every time. The food is always magnificent (and the portions generous!) and the wait staff are lovely. I adore this place (and the music you play!) and it's actually been so nice growing up near it and having it still be around as I become an adult. If you want a food review you should get the chimichanga because it's crazy good. If you're in a couple and are happy with each other's sharing abilities, get the fajitas. Whatever you get, you will not be disappointed.

Came here with some friends for the first time and was really impressed. I loved the fajitas which were really flavourful and a great sized portion. The churros were also a delicious way to end the meal. Not to mention there was a really nice atmosphere to this place, with warm lighting, Mexican music and an all round good vibe. Overall, would definitely recommend and come again.

There is no place for Broccoli in a mexican wrap! I ordered veggie enchiladas and my wife ordered veggie burrito. Both wraps were soggy and full of broccoli and butternut squash - no sign of any mexican filling such as onions, peppers, mushrooms, beans etc. instead a vegetable which should only be used in a roast dinner - a very strange combination of flavours and one I would not like to experience or pay for again. The potato wedges could do with some mexican spices too. Much better places around if you want good vegetarian food.

Wow! Qué gran lugar. Fue recomendado por un amigo que me dijo que no nos decepcionaría y tenía razón. Personal fantástico desde la puerta hasta que nos fuimos. Tuvimos algunos buenos cócteles (al parecer) yo estaba bebiendo pintas de cerveza limpia agradable. Llegaron entrantes que compartimos, 3 nachos diferentes, increíble. Platos principales 2 fajitas mixtas, una chimichanga y un burrito, todos 2o a ninguno. Churros para pudín por 2 personas pero no para mí ya que estaba lleno. Tenía muchas ganas de probar el chimi de plátano caramelizado también, pero por desgracia voy a dejar más espacio la próxima vez. Gracias chicos, volveremos

Venimos a Casa Mexicana desde hace 20 años. Ya no vivimos en la zona, pero venimos a Bristol para ver a amigos y familiares para cumpleaños, etc. No lo hemos estado durante dos años y algo ha cambiado, desafortunadamente. Reservamos hace 3 meses para un cumpleaños 50. Pedimos por adelantado y la comunicación con el restaurante era buena. Llegamos a las 7 pm para encontrar la mesa apretada junto a otra fiesta de aproximadamente el mismo número. No exagero cuando digo que no pudimos apretarnos detrás de la otra mesa para saludar a nuestros amigos, ya que llegamos. Las bebidas tuvieron que ser pasadas a lo largo de la mesa porque el personal de camareros no podía meterse entre las mesas! Pregunté si podíamos movernos y me dijeron que se estaba preparando otra mesa. Luego recogimos todas nuestras pertenencias y bebidas y movimos mesas. El restaurante obviamente reservó el espacio. El tipo de la cocina fue grosero conmigo y confrontativo, pero el personal de espera salvó el día y eran encantadores. Comida increíble, pero la atención a los clientes se ha ido. Le expliqué que era un gran cumpleaños, pero el servicio de atención al cliente individual se ha ido. No hay velas ni pastel para mí, a diferencia de la última vez que vinimos. El restaurante ha perdido lo que lo hacía especial y después de 20 años no volveremos.

Group of friends needed somewhere to dine on new years eve. We live locally, and have always wanted to visit. We weren’t disappointed. The food fed the plenty. Prices were stop on, we felt at home and looked after. Sharon couldn’t have done more for us, we were fed and watered to our heart’s content on a busy news year’s eve. We will definitely be back.

On the pricey side but very good portion sizes which makes it a good bang for your buck. Lovely dinner, proper homecooked style food. Will come back

La comida era deliciosa, el personal del bar y el equipo de espera eran tan buenos, pero no pude evitar notar que el gerente estaba tratando a su personal como algo pegado a la parte inferior de su zapato. Como gerente, no encuentro que esto sea muy profesional, especialmente cerca de Navidad, cuando es una época del año muy ocupada y mucha gente más joven está financieramente presionada. La administración debería hacer más para aumentar la moral y apreciar al personal trabajador en lugar de menospreciar.

A warm friendly greeting on arrival, we were quickly sat and provided with menus. Some of the party weren't experienced with Mexican food so a breakdown of the menu was provided with recommendations based on the tastes of the party. The excellent food came promptly and was beyond expectations. Waiting staff were attentive and the whole ambience was superb I would highly recommend visiting Casa Mexicana

Wow. Genuinely best Guacamole I’ve ever had in Bristol, I ordered online- the steak fajitas with gluten free tortillas (the tortillas were a bit dissapointing but I’ve never had a nice GF tortilla) everything else was seriously deliciousss- I can’t recommend this food enough. Also got the beef nachos. SO good. Almost called the restaurant to say please give the chef a raise lmao.

Es muy refrescante obtener opciones veganas que en realidad son sabrosas y no solo una opción de token. Tomé tostada y estaba delicioso. La comida salió caliente y fue la cantidad justa de especias para mí. Los carnívoros de mi familia también calificaron su comida, cada uno probando una comida diferente. El restaurante estaba muy ocupado, lo que siempre es una buena señal. A pesar de ello, el servicio no fue lento. Las porciones son grandes y amablemente me dieron una caja para llevar a casa mis sobras. Habría sido demasiado bueno desperdiciar. Definitivamente volveré.

Had a great experience at casa mexicana last night! Can really recommend this restaurant for authenticity of mexican cuisine. The cocktails were fantastic, as was the food. This mexi-can impress us everytime without fail.

The best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to! Great atmosphere, fast service and outstanding food. Me and my partner enjoyed spicy beef nachos grande and an ultimate fajitas for two which where both outstanding. I strongly recommend you go here👍

I ordered the beef chimichanga and asked for a few extra jalapeños on the side as well as a 1/2 pint of cola. I would say the pricing for a main and side was good value for money, food and drink came out swiftly after ordering and was fresh, the beef chimichanga came with a generous portion of salad and rice on the side. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was well presented and clean with nice decor, would definitely be coming back again and would recommend to my friend or family.

Took the family to Casa Mexicana for my wife's birthday last night. Big mistake. We were not given children's menus and had to ask for them. Ordered 2 chicken quesadillas from the kids menu which were far too spicy for kids. The wedges that came with the kids meals were over cooked and too spicy for children. Explained to the waitress that they were too spicy and asked if they could please make 2 plain cheese quesadillas. No apology given and was told they would ask the kitchen. Returned saying that we would have to pay for a second set of meals. We said that we don't mind paying but the food was spicy and they are children, to which the waitress replied: "well you did come to a Mexican restaurant..." Absolutely shocked at that comment. Disgraceful. I can't understand how you can be in business charging these prices and providing such poor service. If I was running this place I would have apologised, made 2 plain cheese quesadillas (which would have cost me all of £1) and offered them for free and then I would have followed up at the end of the meal with 2 free small kids desserts. That's how you create a customer for life. Instead we will never return and will have nothing nice to tell friends and family about this place. So short-sighted...

Called the restaurant to ask about the order as it said confirmed but never even moved to stage: preparing order. They blames that Just eats isn't sending a driver and promised to re-cook the order, but then sent over the original dish, arrived COLD.

I cant say enough words to express how good this place is. Came here with a friend by chance “the restaurant we were going to was closed” so we got here The restaurant was sooo good. The vibes are Authentic Mexican with the decorations and music. The food was super delicious. Best Nachos ive had.

Good service, lovely friendly staff Mediocre food - everything tastes the same, with lots of oil and the same flavours Atmosphere was pretty poor, very loud large group of blokes (not the restaurants fault but could not hold a conversation on our table) I haven't been back to this place for years, I'm in no rush to repeat, with better Mexican restaurants available

Casa hit it out of the park when we needed delicious food for my father's 80th birthday. We picked up the fajitas and chips, bean dip and fresh guacamole at the appointed time . The food was hot ! Packed so carefully in big aluminum foil containers with an extra layer of siran wrap so it wouldn't spill. We had so much food left over (we ordered 6 fajitas for 2 entrees) that we ate it again the next day with more family . We had delicious food and plenty of tortillas. Thank you Casa Mexicana restaurant staff for your convenience, quality and fair pricing . Loved it and so did our guests

7 of us went for a meal for my birthday the staff were amazing everything we asked for they did service and atmosphere was brilliant food amazing with a good selection we all left very well fed it was exactly what we wanted from an authentic mexican restaurant

We were looking forward to the sopapillas for dessert. The food was standard fare. The service was poor. Server took quite awhile to bring chips, drinks cam in a reasonable time, asked for water twice. When we thought the food would come, the waiter came to ask if husband's fajitas were beef or chicken... sigh. Waited 15 min.) for server to return (never checked on us), so we could order sopapillas and he brought the check. At that point we were done with the service (the restaurant had 2- 3 other parties)....

Staff were so welcoming from the minute we entered the restaurant, also asking whether we’d like to sit in or out. The interior is lovely, makes you feel like you are somewhere far away from Bristol. This is one of Bristol's secrets, apparently it's been here for years. The service was outstanding, not formal but professional friendly, lots of smiles and good but not rushed service. The food was beautifully presented, and full of fresh flavours, not buried under chilli and very tasty. A great atmosphere In short it was a great experience. Thank you .

Came to eat with my family and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. the food was great and they had great options for younger children with the waiter offering it to us. overall the food was great, staff were friendly but most importantly our waitress tilly who was especiallly friendly to our son and accommodated to him will definitely be returning.

I have walked past this establishment many times and the food and atmosphere appeared to be splendid, however my experience was far from this. Upon arrival I was met with very inattentive and disinterested staff. I was given water with dirt inside the jug and served food with no cutlery. Upon expression of my dismay at the poor service I was not even met with an apology, just an offer to see the desert menu. I was then presented with the bill by the waitress and I once again expressed my dissatisfaction at the service and half asleep nature of the staff which again fell on deaf ears. The even less interested supervisor came over and offered up a laughable excuse of being a staff member down (there were 3 tables in the restaurant at this time). Dreadful service and bored staff, could be a great restaurant but the lacklustre attitude lets it down.

Myself and my wife ate here for the first time Friday evening and it’s fair to say we will be regulars from now on! From the mojitos to the steak everything was absolutely delicious and topped off with an authentic Mexican taste and atmosphere. Staff were all super friendly and helpful!

We visited for a birthday meal earlier this week, the restaurant has a great atmosphere, I really liked the decor. The food was all excellent, for a starter I had the mushrooms in a creamy sauce with soft tortillas, I highly recommend it, the real star was the main, I had the beef chimichanga which was delicious, the texture given by frying was perfect and the refried beans with rice were a great accompaniment. Maybe the best meal out we had in Bristol.

We were pretty disappointed by the vegetarian dishes, not much flavour and odd vegetables like swede/Brussel sprouts/cauliflower. Very large portion sizes for some meals like fajitas. Service was fine although our waiter seemed quite new at the job. We were in the back room which was quite dark.

Great staff! the Asian host was very attentive. Food ok, maybe to review a few dishes. The conservatory is quiet dark, maybe lamps on the table could help. I am latinoamerican and we will love to see any latin singers on the weekends.

Took my girlfriend here a couple of months back and we've been going back for date night ever since. she is vegetarian so we were skeptical about the veg chimmies but we were pleasantly surprised! Good level of heat on all of them (beef, chicken veg) and the flavors work really well. We got our food really quick and all the service staff are super friendly.

For a reliable night out, Casa Mexicana is worth a visit, but don't expect it to transport you to Mexico.

It seems only a few years ago My Wife and I celebrated Our Birthdays here, but really it was 38 years! So glad that You're all still going, the Main Man always remembered Us, if not for the price of taxis We would surely be regulars. Every success wished, Andy and Maggie 1987ish! X.

Great food with lovely staff and a cosy atmosphere

The waiting staff were very friendly and prompt however the food was below average and bland with no flavours. The plantain and peppers were very greasy again with no flavours. The salmon I had was burnt black to a crisp on one side which made it quite dry. The dishes were stone cold which is not good. Need to up their game in the kitchen.

The new taco special mains is absolutely delicious, nice portion, lovely plating and is really tasty, definitely gonna come back to try other menus.

Thought would be a nice venue a meal out to celebrate our Anniversary on a Saturday night. Food and drinks order taken promptly with all arriving in a timely manner. Food absolutely delicious but the service was horrendous and the staff completely inattentive and somewhat oblivious, Restaurant was half full at a stretch. After recieving the mains did not see the waitress until almost ready to leave so didn't even have so much as a 2nd drink during our time there. Eventually got up from the table and settled the bill at the bar to leave as had quite enough. Don't think we would return which is a shame as the food was excellent.

A lovely Friday evening dinner for girls night. Great selection of food and drinks which was all tasty. The atmosphere was great, and all the staff were friendly, most importantly our waitress Pip. I also found the price to be very reasonable. Will definitely return, can’t wait to try more items on the menu!

Pros...staff were lovely, and you quickly get "I could be on holiday-vibes tucked away in a café somewhere". Service to start with was fine. Most dishes are, or can be made GF. Cons...getting the bill was a multi step slow process. Food was...just a bit average? Portions were huge, but it lacked any touches that could have elevated it. I wanted lime, fresh coriander, black beans, paprika, cheese and guacamole. I got rice that seemed microwaved, a dollop of some sour cream, and pork stew that was 90% carrot, celery and butter beans with some chipotle flavouring, it just didn't scream Mexican to me...I felt underwhelmed. Again, presentation was just...okay? Prices were just about acceptable for what it was? About £15-17 per head for a main. Acoustics make the volume uncomfortable, our table was wobbly and awkwardly positioned in a corner/fireplace/walkway, we had to prop a leg with a napkin, and a large group nearby were loud but this is probably just acoustics. Had the food been awesome, these would all have been minor niggles I doubt we'd have noticed, but the food just wasn't it.

I love this place, I've been here with my family before and now I'm been back with my girlfriend and we love it every time we go and the food is amazing the service is lovely and it is abit noise at times so u can't hear the lovely music but it is really nice. But I feel like the tables and chairs are really close to eachother, obviously it's a small place but just feel like they need spacing out better.
