Casa Bianca in Merthyr Tydfil

Had Been to the Abergavenny restaurant a few times, so it was a must, to get to methyr as we live in the area. As Usual it was a high stranded. Quality very good and struggled to eat it all, so Portion size is not bad. We had starters as well. I had the chicken breast in the incredible rich sauce. With potatoes. Wife had calamari her favourite. That was also outstanding. Wife an ex chef and knows good from bad. This was Good and highly recommended.. Thanks to the staff. Certainly be back

Booked and evening meal for my sister, my 9 year old daughter and I. We arrived early but were accommodated. The restaurant is very pretty. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food...waw....it was amazing. Big portions and extremely tasty. Best Italian we've had for a long time. My sister is gluten free and they were super accommodating...offering to make up a dish for her (spicy penne arrabiatta) and she was thrillednthatbthey had a gluten free garlic bread. They even brought a free ice cream with a candle in it as it was my daughters birthday. We will definitely be back. I think people will think it's pricier than other Italians but it's well worth it.

I love casa Bianca and normally have a really lovely meal, been to this one a few times now but the most recent time wasn’t great. I don’t like peppers, me and my partner asked for the dish without them as we always do. However this time they weren’t removed and come with the dish, the dish itself was very watery too. Thankfully the garlic bread we ordered was still as nice as ever. Just annoying to not enjoy the meal you’re paying for.

Absolutely stunning restaurant and food. 10/10 for us. It’s not the first time we have been and every time we come, it’s always a wonderful experience. We had a mussels starter and it was fab, then a pork medallion in tarragon sauce main and a sea bass main, and both were cooked to perfection. Onto deserts, we had panna cotta and tiramisu, and both were perfect. We came to the restaurant for a New Year’s Eve treat and we were thrilled with our experience. The staff, food, internal deco, all fabulous. We will definitely be returning. It’s out no.1 food spot! Thank you to all bar staff, and the chef, and kitchen staff. 🌟

Staying in the area for a football game, was recommended here. Didn’t disappoint, very friendly, attentive staff, high quality food and great wine. We had a great evening. Omg!!!! This is by far the best restaurant in Merthyr ...... my husband and I took our kids and 18 month granddaughter who is lactose intolerant!! Alex who is there to greet us went above and beyond for us! It's a lovely, warm and welcoming place, food is outstanding and service is second to none!! Our Aunt booked this for her , her niece , my wife TJ , me , our daughter and her two boys . We arrived and were looked after extremely well and the food was exceptional. There was a mix of pasta , lasagne , pork fillet and enjoyable extras. We then ended the evening with the boys having chocolate ice cream and the adults had calypso coffee and was a terrific end to a very enjoyable night . We would highly recommend this, and we will be back soon

Took my daughter, sister and brother-in-law on Weds 16th Oct having booked for noon as advised. Early because my daughter needed to finish early to collect her six-year old from school. We were the only ones there until about 12.30 when two mums arrived, one with a child who screamed incessently the whole time. The server/manager was very pleasant and did what she could to explain that the chef was on his way and took our orders so that everything could be ready for him when he arrived. When he did turn up he found that there was no cream so the server was sent to the shops to buy some. We eventually received our food at 1.20 p.m. (for a noon booking). In general the food was good although my sister had a seafood dish which included four mussels. Unfortunately two were still closed indicating that they were probably off. Profuse apologies from the pleasant server but the chef should never have let them leave the kitchen. We had been looking forward to it but for £160 it was rather disappointing. My wife should have been with us but she was unwell. I plan to take her and try them again in the hope it was just an off day. I will report back in due course.

Another great night out at Casa Bianca Merthyr Our favourite restaurant. Excellent food and atmosphere, the staff are both efficient and friendly. Despite being very busy they always manage to engage with their customers.

Awful place to visit which is a real shame! We are an english family who stayed for 1 night in Merthyr. We came across the Casa Bianca restaurant as it was recommended by the hotel we were staying in. I had been checking all night the availability for tables and they were not fully booked. So we decided to just walk in and get a table. As soon as we asked we were told they were fully booked, we asked whether they had availability in an hour or two and were told they were fully booked for the rest of the night. I then went outside and went into their website and booked a table straight away. I really didn’t want to go there after the attitude of the male staff member but we were hungry and needed to eat, so back in we went and told them we had now booked a table. Begrudgingly we were showed to the table and as we already knew the restaurant had numerous tables free! The waitress was LOVELY (blue and blonde haired lady) she really couldn’t do enough for us and she really did save our meal! The foot was not worth the price - I had the seafood risotto and it literally tasted like a bag of savory rice (from what I can remember eating it as a child), everyone else enjoyed their meal though. The decor was lovely and the rest of the meals were enjoyed just a shame the staff were rude! The only reason I haven’t given this review a 1 was because of the blonde and blue haired waitress! I feel like she deserved a star for how nice she was!

Was brilliant when first opened and attended once a week but the last two occasions it as been awful , cheap Prosecco from Tesco sold for £36 a bottle , cold food , awful service , and bad management . The staff were welcoming, the decor in the restaurant attractive, the drinks were fine. But the food was mediocre at best and the pizzas were, to be honest, revolting. Too much cheese, way too salty, soggy bases. The gluten free one was inedible. The only thing worse than the food was the sign in the ladies loo saying ‘making room for dessert?’ which was off putting to say the least. Maybe it was meant to be funny but that’s a weird sense of humour, asking customers if they’re off for a big dump between courses. We won’t be going back.

We were so looking forward to visiting Casa Bianca with its promising menu and no one can surely complain about its stunning dining decorations but the loveliness stops there. First issue of many was the dirty cutlery which we wiped down ourselves. It happens but we didn’t want to make a fuss. Asked if we wanted drinks but we wanted time to look at the menu. Literally, less than a minute later and still taking our coats off, we were asked again. Unfortunately they didn’t have 2 of the cocktail items. Again just bad luck, that happens. Service was pretty quick initially but we had to wait 5 minutes between the first 2 plates & the next 2 meaning the meal was cold for those who were waiting to start. (It’s only polite). One plate was dirty with dried food down the side and another had a sharp chip on the edge. The next drink order had been forgotten so we had to prompt for that. The portions are very small for the prices & no value at all. Although tasty, just 4 small potatoes with the pork meant family was left hungry. We were just about to break the garlic bread when it was suddenly pulled away and replaced with “the right one”. We had touched it so sorry to whoever was given that one. The steak was medium to well and not rare like asked and they forgot the sauce. Because we had already waited long enough for us all to get our food, it was just accepted. The risotto had hard white uncooked rice through it making it almost inedible with 2 empty mussel shells & 1 so badly cracked you had to fish the bits out. It was inedible. The family try not to complain but the poor presentation was beginning to feel embarrassing and it was very young servers who obviously had no supervision. The Parmesan sits directly below a vase of flowers with dying leaves. There’s pollen lying all around it so obviously it’s in the dish as well. As for the toilets! What an absolute disgrace! You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself! What actually looked like a lump of excrement was on the floor & very obviously they had not been cleaned in some time with dried urine over the loo and believe it or not, pubic hairs in the dirty sink. Wish we had a picture of this now because it’s hard to believe an establishment like this has such low standards. We shall never return to this place & I believe the council should really be looking into their standards of hygiene. What a disappointing family Easter meal and unfair that such young staff have been left to cope alone. They themselves were doing their best & the reason why we didn’t bring up any of our issues. It wasn’t their fault just very bad management.

I was really excited by this menu and super happy they could fit us in. HWe waited over an hour even for our starter to be served bread which was just quite a dry pizza really … meh! The mains were equally underwhelming really, my daughter ordered the primavera gnocchi which was claggy and quite tasteless didn’t state on the menu it included tomatoes, which is a problem when you don’t like them :/ My mother ordered the pollo con funghi which was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked chicken and gorgeous sauce. She opted for chips instead of roast potatoes and they were seasoned and delish too, but it was a bit strange to see a beige plate of food … there was no greens, salad, no garnish of any description. I ordered the risotto zaferano which was a seafood/saffron/risotto dish and it was seriously disappointing. The rice wasn’t even risotto rice for a start, it was long grain … it looked like a bit of a rubbish paella, no creaminess, no sauciness. The fish and seafood in it was cooked perfectly so it was really disappointing that the overall dish wasn’t what I ordered and again was really quite tasteless. I sent it back. We also ordered a side of garlic butter chips, not because we needed them, but just because they sounded delicious and they didn’t come at all 🤷🏻‍♀️ in fairness having been in there a loooong time by this time the waitress dealt with us sending the dish back and getting the bill pronto quite quickly and sad not to have dessert we left there, and sorry to say won’t be going back. Overall super disappointing experience :/

Visited for Mother’s Day. The meals were absolutely delicious and very well cooked. Desert was equally as tasty and beautifully presented. The staff were all excellent and very attentive. Shan was our main waitress and she was very welcoming and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely and the decor was so pretty with the beautiful blossom flowers and Italian touches. We were six people all of us have eaten in the Abergavenny venue and most have tried the Pontypridd restaurant , therefore we had expectations . None of the meals came up to standard. The potatoes weren’t cooked, the pork was tough and there was no Gorgonzola in the Gorgonzola chicken, the risotto looked like fried rice, and the pasta was swimming in oil. The side of vegetables were delicious but late to the table. The waitress was excellent.

Very disappointed.. Visiting this place for the first time, although I regularly attend their restaurant in Abergavenny, with a couple of friends. The two restaurants are miles apart in both location and quality. The first issue was with the starter. I ordered 'Peperoni Ripieni' which is described as a 'slow roasted pepper stuffed with feta cheese'. This couldn't be further from the truth. I received two wafer-thin slices of pepper, topped with a little cheese. The pepper was neither slow roasted nor stuffed, and they have the cheek to charge £8.95. I honestly couldn't believe what I received, compared to what I thought I was ordering. There were no issues with the mains or desserts, which both arrived quickly and as expected. However, when it came to paying for the bill, we were ignored for 30 minutes. I asked for the bill on two separate occasions, around 30 minutes apart. I was told both times that they'll be back with the bill straight away. I appreciate they may have been busy, but asking twice and waiting 30 minutes is a fair amount of time. Eventually, we walked to the bar on the way out and paid ourselves. Overall, the visit was disappointing. The portion size of the starter and the gulf between description and reality was shocking. I honestly can't describe just how ridiculous the starter was, I wish I had photographed it. To then be left waiting 30 minutes to pay for a bill is unacceptable. I've visited their other restaurant multiple times and have never left disappointed, but I will not be visiting Merthyr again.
