This local Pub turned out to be just what we were looking for. The pub was recommended by a local it was extremely busy and it was essential to book as it was very busy. The staff were super friendly and provided home cooked food of the highest standard with equally good service at excellent prices that didn’t break the bank. My lamb shank was excellent along with all of our parties dishes. Can’t recommend this establishment more.

Small car park but lucky to get a space. Walked in and it was really busy and could barely move. Asked at the bar how long the wait for food and got told it would be quite a wait but they luckily had a free table upstairs. Lots of choice on the menu maybe a bit too much choice. Ordered at the bar and didn't have to wait long for food. Right amount of food for the plate and really enjoyed the Dirty Fries which had perfectly cooked steak with it. Waitress asked if we needed anything else with our food and nothing was too much for them. All 4 of us enjoyed our meal and would go back again. Worth the price for the amount of food.

We visited today, not local, we walked a fair distance to get here. We ordered food which came quickly and was very tasty. Drinks, also lovely. Dog friendly and water bowl provided. What made it for us was the atmosphere. We needed a taxi back to our car, and multiple customers tried to help us get one, with no luck, a local customer offered to help us out and drove us to our car. This was much needed and highly appreciated. Thank you

It's a nice country pub, but what's going on with the chips floppy dark and very greasy? Its like they were cooked earlier and then reheated up. I have eaten here on a number of occasions because a family member lives close by, and they are alway the same, but it's also dog friendly and nice seating area outside and I have always had a good pint.

Where do you start? I hade to ware sun glasses when I entered the bar as the smiles on each of the staff were radiating so much. Very nice to see. Regarding the food, it's had to go wrong with beef lasagne but it's very hard to go the other way. And boy oh boy, it was very nice. Also it's very appreciated to actually see "real" chips. My wife's hunters chicken was double up with tons of sauce. So the question of: was it worth the long road; yes it is. Go there and enjoy. Side note; the beer is front a local source and very nice as well.

Been coming here with family and friends for years. In a general rule, the Gammon and Steak are very good. However, the crown and glory is the superb chips. I have never had such good chips before. They are gorgeous. The staff are always lovely and friendly. However, the same cannot be said about the owner. My partner and I attended the Red Cow on Monday. The car park was very busy, yet we saw a space at the top of the car park. There was a plastic box halfway in the space. We thought the box had fallen over from a pile of trash that was next to the fence, so my partner moved the boxes and we used the space. When we finished our meal we came out to find a huge white BMW had parked right behind our car. I went into the pub and asked if it was anybody in there, to no avail. I came outside and asked a man next to the car if it was his car to which he agreed. His demeanour was surly, rude, and unfriendly. He informed me that it was his space and I was not to be parked there. I apologised, informing him that I didn’t realise it was not for public parking. He couldn’t have cared less. I asked him if he could reverse his car so I could get out. He reversed as little as humanly possible, so I found it difficult to navigate out. I eventually managed to squeeze out, but was left feeling pretty disgusted at the manner in which I had been treated so poorly by the owner. My partner and I will not be returning to this establishment. We will take our business elsewhere.

Located in a nice place if it is sunny then you will love it when you sit out. We ordered hunter chicken (in the menu nothing else was mentioned then when it came, it had ham/pork slices on the top of it - which we do not eat- as soon as we explained then took and they told they will cook another one but they forget to inform the kitchen 😁 as we where waiting for a long time but we were not hungry so we did not bother much and then after remanding them they gave another one and they apologized as they where very busy as we can understand it. Hunter chicken was super sweet due to the sauce but was ok. We order a plate to share - squid. They were nice, Had a good time.

After driving to Pen Y Fan from Newport and climbing the mountain in wind and rain my friend and I were soaked to the bone and looked on line for a pub that does both grub at 3pm on a Saturday and was dog friendly… we found this little gem called The Red Cow Inn! We called ahead and the lady was sooooo lovely and saved us a table as we said we would be half hour… The outside of the pub is sooooo traditional, such a delight to see some old British pubs are still thriving rather than being torn down! The inside didn’t disappoint either! Welcoming staff immediately at the door… A roaring fire in the background, along with regular patrons dotted around the bar, it was beautifully buzzing! Got two cold pints of Madri with change from a tenner… amazing traditional home cooked food options it was like taking a step back in time when everything on a menu was appealing and full of proper British “pub grub”! I had chicken curry half chips half rice and it came with warm bread..The chicken reminded me of when my mama made curry and it was all “stringy” yum yum. My friend had chicken in whisky sauce and we both devoured the meals like it was our last! We ordered 2 sausages for the dog and that wasn’t a problem at all x They were HUGE lol. (Mac says thanks! Woof!) FYI the chips are to die for!!!!! They were the proper cut potatoes deep fried but even I can’t make them like that!!! Amazing!!! Whilst eating we were asked how are meals were (outstanding and fresh!) as soon as our plates were empty they were cleared with a smile… 😊 There was a young sweet girl as well going around the pub clearing and wiping tables constantly… Unfortunately we had to be somewhere else at 6 and our table was rebooked or we would’ve stayed and just sat by the fire… On leaving the young man who took the cash payment was delightful and we left the change it was more than well deserved… but it’s not about that, it’s about knowing that there are these little gems of British pubs still existing even if you have to drive a little to get there! I can’t wait to return to the Red Cow Inn as we climb mountains down that area very frequently… I’ve told all my friends… and can’t wait to return… PLEASE go to this pub.. it’s truly a special place. Xxxx Thanks… love Sally and David x from gloomy, miserable Newport lol 😂

We assumed we'd just have chips as we are vegan and chose this pub based on the pictures of their chips on reviews here, but to our surprise they had vegan shepherds pie as well, and it was proper hearty pub food - not just a heap of veg. Also, the chips were some of the best chips I've ever had! Like really good and well cooked fish shop chips. Not to mention that we accidentally ordered at the very last moment so we're very thankful for the service and to be "those" people. Beware though, signal is not great here and their WiFi struggles as well, so make sure you know where you're going after if you're using a sat nav. I got signal a little way up the road, eventually

Really nice hotel, decor is beautiful yet quirky and unique in its own way, rooms are comfortable, staff very friendly and accommodating. Decent prices for its very central location, parking is just 2 min away on foot, and breakfast options are very affordable. Would definitely recommend.

We were made to feel very welcome at the Angel Inn, what a great lively pub with lots of happy people drinking, singing and dancing.

The Drovers is a quintessential village pub with a fine history offering good quality meals and snacks plus a wide range of beers in a cosy and attractive environment. Landlady Cherryl offers a warm welcome and living in the village is a font of knowledge on local attractions
