Always pick the fish and chips special: £6.10 with any sauce. Fish always crispy and a thin batter and the chips soft and tasty. Scrape perfect..

We attended today for lunch in the restaurant. We both had specials which come with a side, bread and butter and hot drink. I had fish and my wife had spam. Great value and beautiful food, the staff were fantastic throughout and I would be gsppy to go again!

Excellent food, light and crispy batter. Delicious homemade lasagne and steak pie. Would highly recommend..!

Order food via the app, overall the food was decent however what wasn't was paying £3 delivery for the driver to not even come to the house and hand the food of to some random kids in the street!

This place is a gem. Please go try. Cleanliness is second to none, in my opinion. Toilet clean and there are disabled friendly ones as well. Good menu choice for all. Telephone if needed. Atmosphere great, decor good. There's nothing bad to say and clean plates. Thank you to the staff member working so hard.

After almost constantly being disappointed by Shaun’s fish and chips we decided to try Carvers fish and chips and was instantly impressed with not only their portion sizes but the quality of food! We have continued to order from here since and still never been disappointed

Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to try the food as the server attitude has put us off. After picking the table, a lady approached us and, without even a brief greeting, threw a menu card on the table. We were shocked and decided to leave immediately. I have no idea why Carvers got that many positive reviews. Probably, customers know to avoid this place on Thursdays around 5:30 pm when that lady is on duty.

Lovely Fish and Chips restaurant, with friendly staff, good food, and old-fashioned service. The Prawn cocktail was delicious and presented well. Cod was perfectly fried along with the chips. My partner's Lemon Sole was nice, too. And a good old nice pot of tea for two. The restaurant was clean and tidy. They also have takeaway chippy next door.

Maybe hit them on a bad day. We ate in, fish was overcooked and quite pricey for small haddock and chips. Asked for a pint of Cider, but got a 440ml can at pint prices. Not terrible, but used to be better.

Always a friendly welcome with a smile from helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble, the excellent fish 'n' chips were very tasty. Two types of curry sauce, normal and the much more flavoursome spicier 'Irish' one. Restaurant very clean and tidy. Best in the area. Great music selection, oldies and classics, not playing too loudly. Always enjoyable and great food. Sometimes busy, sometimes not...

Ordered a take away pie and a fish chip meal, the food was cold and burned meat was burned dissapointed never happened before

£3.30 for 5 New potatoes, £1.55 for a scoop of mushy peas.. these are the ONLY gluten free Vegan options and not very good value for money. Please modernise your options, maybe cook chips in veg oil in a separate fryer? Maybe explore "the gluten free pie company" they deliver nationwide and supply many chippies

Had a fabulous meal in the restaurant. Took my 3 teenage grandchildren and all empty plates, it was delicious. Very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for you. Will definitely be back 10/10

The family called in for lunch and were seated right away, we were lucky to miss the busy time , we were served with our meals quite quickly and enjoyed it

Had two large haddock and a small portion of chips tonight all was cold and I only live five minutes away will complain when I go in again but that might be along time £15.50 for cold food

Great value and good quality for the fish and chips loved it.

I went for takeaway fish and chips, two large haddock, mushy peas and pineapple fritter as a treat. Been ok before but this time not acceptable. Had to remove and throw all batter away, even on the pineapple fritter as completely soggy and not cooked. Paid just under £20, and the haddock was very thin and not large. Won't be going again for some time now, a total waste of money.

Had the home made steak pie, it was nice to eat but very heavy on the stomach afterwards!

Very good fish and chips. Very friendly staff too. Order a single sausage to go with the meal and we all totally forgot about it as we got talking about dogs, cars, villages, garages and all sorts. I'll come back for the sausage another day. 😉

Was taken her by friends after a trip to the cinema and was very impressed. Delicious haddock, cooked to perfection, as we're chips and mushy peas. Pleasant staff, very obliging. Will certainly return 👍

Very friendly, good service and food

I had Lemon Sole with mushy peas and My Son had Skate with garden peas. We ate in the restaurant and it was excellent I could not fault the food or service in anyway. My son couldn't decide on which of the 2 types of curry sauce to choose (Yes 2 types) so he was given a sample of both to decide

Birthday treat for friend and my 94yr old mum. Thoroughly enjoyed it, so plzd didn't order standard portion, small was well adequate. Thank you 😊

We had a delivery for our evening meal. Fish/chips gravy. Spam/chips peas. It's was very enjoyable. Batter really crispy none of that yellow under cooked Batter you get in some shops. Thank you for our good meal. Will give you 4 stars.

Went in for fish and chips fish frying person was out back had to wait for ages for them to come in and put the fish in then they disappeared to talk to colleagues then when server asked if it was ready returned to take it out when I got it home fish was over cooked batter tasted burnt. Only good thing I can say is server was polite and friendly

We went for a sit down in the restaurant twice this week as we enjoyed it that much. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I also recommend the takeaway and try the Irish curry, it's amazing.A+++++

Absolutely shocking. Brain dead staff and terrible food. Asked for a large haddock chips scraps and peas. Young lass hadn't a clue. Blame the training. No scraps. The smallest haddock I've ever seen and anemic chips. Never again.

The food was nice, but the portion sizes are nothing short of a disgrace, £15 for two meals, and not enough to feed two hungry children, you should be ashamed of yourselves

Service was slow. The chips were lukewarm. The ambience was dire. On complaining about the chips we were told that it was because they were new potatoes? We were eventually given a discount but only on the total bill as she could not give us individual bills,! There were three couples,how hard would that have been? Would NEVER go back or recommend this place.

Edit. We went to the takeaway side this time, and whilst the lady serving was friendly, the portion size was tiny for the cost! Over £20 for fish and chips twice with peas! The fish was OK but not what we would call a large, but the chips were such a small amount we nearly took the lot back. Thought they might be hiding under the fish but nothing!! Won't be coming back anytime soon I'm afraid. We went to the restaurant for the first time for my girlfriends birthday. We were seated straight away in a clean and well spaces restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was freshly cooked and good sized portions. Only whish they put the restaurant prices up online as the costs were quite a bit more than take away. But worth it considering the presentation and service. Thanks Carvers see you again soon. Massive disappointment. I've driven past here for a while and considered trying them out. Never again. Got a fish cake special and was shocked at the portion size for the cost. Fish cake was very good, and gravy was OK, but the portion size was child like. 2/10.

Just bought a fish cake at £2.20, but it's more like a very expensive potato cake. Couldn't taste any fish in it whatsoever!

Terribly slow service today, to be fair they were quite busy but the fryer looked out of his depth and didn't seem to know what to fry, skin left on the fish which I personally prefer skinned, very smelly fish, not sure was very fresh, I gave mine to the dog, she left it, chips were ok, wouldn't go there again.

Have used the chip shop takeaway option before but this was my first time in the dining area. The restaurant is surprisingly larger than you would think and the dimmed lighting, and wooden decor make it feel very cozy, and i imagine in an evening with the right person it could even be almost romantic in its own way. There is also a small bar area by the till area that was well presented. The menu was more varied than some similar chip shop sit-down dining, but not as varied as others so middle of the road there, however the quality of food and staff are definitely not middle of the road (in a good way), as they were happy to mix and match items from various menu options onto one plate, and were friendly throughout. The food arrived hot and fully cooked, and was delicious for the most part. The 2 reasons it loses a star from my review is, considering it's a chippie with on-site frying facilities i expected the Halloumi fingers to be battered rather than breaded (i don't think it mentioned breaded on the menu). They would be less bland and more flavourful if battered. The other reason is, it was December when I visited yet there were nothing to indicate the festive season, no decorations on the window ledges, counter, ceiling (away from tables) and not even Christmas songs on the music player, instead the music was very generic and punctured the ambience somewhat at times. Overall 4/5 stars, will definitely visit again

Took ages to be served, ordered what we wanted. None of the staff spoke English, when we got it to the car the order was wrong, then how we asked for it was wrong (tray of chips, with a small sausage).as all just dropped on the paper & wrapped up. Never again

Great fish and chips(other food available !!! ) We often go for lunch as there's a very cosy little restaurant attached to the main shop. This time I tried the steak pie... Delicious and proper chips too. Lunch time special are great value, and they are licensed if you fancy a glass of wine with your food. All in all great value, clean, great staff and the food is delicious....

Ordered meals which took 25 minutes to be served. Hot drinks arrived 20 minutes prior to food, bread and butter 15 minutes prior. Chips were like scraps, not full chips.

Just reopened after the fire damage, Great Freshly fried haddock, mushy peas, crispy batter, bring it on, 100% recommend

Just been and got fish and chips from carvers. Never had a bad meal but this one was disgusting . Staff not nice and food was awful. I think the fish had been cooked hours ago. Never thought I would ever be writing this review. Prices go up on the 6th - anyone reading this - don’t bother

Delivered food to wrong address had to sort money out with neighbours according to my neighbours they waited 2 hours for there food only reason being 2 star I have not tasted the food!

Booked a table last night at very short notice, very accommodating had our table ready within 15 minutes, staff very friendly and polite as usual, food outstanding, cooked to order, desserts certainly enjoyed by 2 of our party too. Would recommend it to anyone.

Ordered at just after 1pm for delivery at 1.30pm phoned at 2.15 no apology just told they had a big delivery to Broughton just told they were on way finally arrived at 2.55pm 😠 and werent particularly warm ! Feel they had travelled to Broughton 1st .

Took teenage with ASD into Ashby shop wearing a face sheild .On entry the young female assistant immediately asked him to put the shield lower Which we managed to do by about 1mm as it was impossible to get it lower this made her happy. We had spent most of morning shopping in Ashby and no problem with mask being too high in any other shops We usually use Fisherman's catch Ashby and no problem there . Some shop assistant should never be given power .Yes stay safe but being pedantic will lose you customers
