Carluccio's in general are on a destructive path. Although service remains excellent in almost all branches, the standard of the food has deteriorated so badly that we only use Carluccio's for coffee and drinks, but not food. Several popular dishes like Pasta e Faggioli soup, were eliminate from the menu when in fact it is your best seller. replaced by mushroom soup, which is a joke. dish water with whole mushrooms floating in it. Mushrooms are never meant to be soup and if they are, you blend them into cream.Your pastas are bland, under cooked and have no flavour. In general, your chefs are not properly trained chefs and do not have the first idea about presenting a nice mealI am surprised that Carluccio's are still in businessSaad Jadir

El servicio es lento. Vasos no sucia. No cubiertos. Pan de Ajo niños vinieron. Olía a vómitos y estaba cubierto de queso sobras congeladas. Quemados. Envió de vuelta. La siguiente vino y era incomible. Empapado en mantequilla y grasienta. Mi ensalada de atún y dos copos de atún y un montón de hojas floja.

Got invited for a party here and definitely will never come back even if get invited again. Plus thing is nice decoration, i really liked the giant mirror. Bad thing is the food. The cod for my son had a really strong unpleasant smell. I ordered a medium rare steak. It came out in a tiny piece (pretty sure not 8oz), flat, half of it was fat and silver skin, and cooked nearly well done. A rating of 3.5 on both here and google is way too kind for this place. How dare you serve that kind of food under the great old man's name?

I have never minded Carluccio, although I always felt it was overpriced for the quality of the food served. Having found a slug in my lunch time salad at another Carluccios and only given empty apologies and not charged for that particular dish, I was willing to give the brand another chance and pre-ordered 2 picnics from the St John Woods restaurant (for a family day at the Lords cricket). Never again. It took several calls to finally find someone who understood my order (very simple - 2 picnics - each one feeds 2, so for 4 people in total and that I would pick up at 10am on the 9th September. Worryingly in the interim I received several notifications thanking me for my 9pm table booking for 4 people! We got there this morning to collect but the order wasn't ready so I had to re-order, go away and wait and then go back to collect. I was given the picnics but with no plates or utensils. When I asked for some, I was given one plate and one knife and fork! I asked for 3 more. We have just eaten the picnic and I have to say it was totally revolting and definitely not worth the £90 price tag for 4 people. A trip to M&S would have been so much better. The only edible item was the salad. This is definitely the end of Carluccios for me.

Me and my friend decided to go to this restaurant because we where in the area and because of the Italian kitchen. the atmosphere was very relaxed and staff so fun! We were given a very nice table beside the window by the manager Roberto, who was very kind, professional and fun (starting a lunch with fun improves always your experience). We had very good dishes in there and it was not expensive at all. Therefore I strongly suggest this place to any person who wants to enjoy an enjoyable Italian meal in a friendly atmosphere with very kind staff (they suggested their best drinks as well, and they were totally right). Had a midweek dinner here whilst a family member was staying at The Wellington hospital and we nipped out to get a bite to eat.On arrival staff were friendly and although the restaurant was starting to get busier, we were seated quickly. We ordered a shared antipasti, 2 mains and a salad. The antipasti never arrived and our main were brought out after a short wait. We raised this with the waitress and she was very apologetic. Dinner was absolutely spot on, very nice decent sized portions. As we hadn't had a starter we opted for pudding and went on recommendations of the waitress. Again- spot on. The desserts were delicious. Overall, a lovely meal with friendly helpful staff. The only downfall was not remembering the antipasti. Would visit again if back in this part of London.

I am a regular at your Ealing Broadway branch and pop into Westfields White city from time to time. Ealing is my favourite as it has the terrace and serves pizza. I have never had a problem before always received exceptional service and delicious top notch food. This time however I was disappointed with my experience. My friends and I were passing through St Johns wood when we came across a Carluccios so decided to stop by, I even recommended it being a fussy eater this is my go to Italian. I always praise the Ealing Broadway branch. Firstly I was disappointed that there was no pizza on the menu. Secondly I was just shocked, when i went to order a croissant from the inside i noticed they were serving lasagne slices for £5 from this glass cabinet but I decided I would get something off the hot food menu instead. I saw a lasagne dish for £10.50 i thought it might be different to the one I side for £5 however I was given the exact same lasagne slice just heated up. Same size nothing different expecting it to be bigger so why did I pay £10.50 when I could have paid £5. My friends carbonara arrived without bacon we had to ask for bacon which was charged as extra when it wasn't extra it was a missing Ingredient and it was un edible as it arrived hard and black it was burnt to a crisp not crispy bacon but burnt. Felt like eating pebble stones. Everything was cold and we weren't offered any Parmesan we had to ask and even when we asked no one came we waited 20 Minutes and gave up waiting just ate our food without any cheese. And our starters arrived after our mains. Very poor indeed. Took 1/3 hour just for someone to come over to clear our plates and ask for dessert. I was contemplating getting dessert as I usually enjoy your tiramisu but by that time I lost my appetite. Appeals to my disgust. Also because I was born in London have a British surname and a British accent people don't realise I am actually a dual nationality and bilingual so didn't appreciate being spoken about behind my back in another language that I fully understand.

We chose this restaurant based on its proximity to our apartment & general child-friendliness. In summary, the food was nice (nothing exceptional); the service was poor. We sat outside in the glorious weather but had to remind staff we were still there15 minutes after been seated. The laborious taking of our order via an iPad was pain-staking with minimal interaction & what appeared as little interest from the waitress. Our daughter's main course was brought with our starters & we had to remind them of hers, which was promptly delivered. Re. the food, the Arancini was tasty & a good size although the mozerella & basil one was distinctly lacking in basil. Hubby's Crab Macaroni was again tasty but more crab meat would have been welcomed. We were happy sitting in the sunshine & by no means in a rush but were once again on the verge of having to attract staff attention for a drinks order. Main courses were tasty but a side order of garlic bread was forgotten & brought out virtually as we were finishing. Probably wouldn't return but definitely doesn't represent our experience of eating in other Carluccio's restaurants.

Lunch on the hottest day of the year and the aircon wasn't working. Wonderful! And the place was packed - although there would have been more room had it not been for the fleet of puchchairs and prams taking up half the space. After overcoming the initial shock of thinking we'd entered a staff canteen, or at best a tea-shop we tried to order a cold bottle of white wine. We tried, and tried, and eventually it arrived. It might have been cold once, but not any more. Similarly with the starters: of our party of five, three got theirs after about twenty minutes, the other two turned up after several entreaties ten minutes later. The mains were more prompt - but by then the restaurant (for want of a better description) was nearly empty (well, it was halfway through the afternoon) and we had largely lost the will to live. In fairness, the apparently inexperienced staff did their best - there just weren't enough of them, which meant that service was an optional extra. The food was edible, but we were expecting something a bit more exciting from a well-known restaurant such as this. We'll just put this one down to experience and try to find a better place to eat in St John's Wood next time we go to watch cricket at Lord's.

One of the worst lunchtime experiences ever. Table booked for 2 at1230. Restaurant half empty. Told to sit anywhere. Waited 15 mins then had to corner a member of staff to get any attention. One starter arrived. No sign of second. Chased after 5, 10 and 15 minutes then asked for manager who arrived with missing starter, which he said was a big portion because of the delay, with apologies for delay due to "everyone arriving at once" At this point the restaurant was about 60% full.Main courses equally impressive. Risotto was dry and crusted and sent back. Replacement tasteless. Saltimbocca (new) was really horrible. Don't keep it on the menu until someone learns how to cook it in a way that is edible. Espressos barely covered the bottom of the cup and made ristretto look large. Final insult: the larger starter provided in recognition of delay was charged on the bill as a main course.Apart from the lovely lady who tried to provide service there is nothing good to say about this establishment. Truly terrible.

My friend and I had a delicious early evening meal here yesterday (25/04/2017). She had the calamari, followed by ravioli al limone; I had the 'Zuppa di Zucca' (hope that's right - it's squash soup in any case) followed by penne giardiniera. The portions were huge - but the waiter (Gianni?) convinced us to have a dessert as well (we both had the panna cotta which was glorious although we nearly burst trying to eat them). Anyway - we were both really impressed with the speed of service and the fresh, tasty food. Our waiter was very attentive and clearly amused by our pathetic attempts at Italian pronunciation. Having a few different places on St John's Wood High Street to choose from me and my wife came upon Carluccios and we are really pleased with our choice.Firstly the place was bustling with custom at 10am which to me was a good sign.We ordered 2 Magnifica Breakfasts which included a fruit juice and a hot drink for £10.50 and to say that I'm from up North the price was spot on!!!The breakfast itself looked beautifully presented and certain aspects of the breakfast tasted beautiful especially the mushrooms and crispy pancetta. The only downside to it getting 5 stars was that my poached eggs weren't runny enough for my liking and the food temperature was warm not hot. Not a criticism as such just my opinion. Will definitely be back in the near future when we are down this way again.

A chain of this calibre should look hard at itself when one of it's branches lets the reputation down considerably. They were understaffed to the point of embarrassment. We waited almost 10 minutes before anyone approached to ask if we wanted a drink. The menu offered a variety of standard Carluccio offerings and some 'new' suggestions. My husband opted for Lasagne and I wanted to try the 'NEW' macaroni cheese side dish as a starter, followed by a beetroot and goats cheese salad. We waited 25 minutes for our dishes to arrive. They had clearly been sitting under lights on the pass as both were barely warm. The Lasagne was a disgrace. Dried out and burnt at the edges. As for the Macaroni cheese it was a congealed mass. I sent it back.Within 4 minutes another was placed down. My images are sufficient to illustrate how dreadful it was. At a cost of just under £5 (for a side dish, I hasten to remind the reader) this was beyond disgraceful. The sauce should have been thick enough to coat the pasta. What I received was a bowl of soup like something. The salad was edible. As we were between hospital appointments at a nearby clinic we had no time to send back and wait. The bill was ridiculously high for inedible food. Service and food awful. Attitude worse. Not acceptable on any level.

The Manager at St John's Wood place was unhelpful to me last time I went in the summer, and he had such an attitude problem when he was dealing with me, he walked of in the middle of the conversation and left me to deal with another staff member, I couldn't figure out why he did that, not the best way to deal with customers if you want them rushing through the door my friend!. I'm sure I don't speak for all staff members, it was only the Manager at the time, maybe there's been a change in management since, but it put me off shopping there ever again. On the plus side, the ambience is good and cozy on cold winter days, lacks space during busy times, because the tables are always clustered near each other. It feels uncomfortable sometimes, having to struggle to talk to people around the table, when the next table is louder than yours.

We were shown to a table given menus, then left for 20 minutes before someone came to take an order. I had to go and find someone to do this. One guy just did not seem to know what he was doing and basically ignored us!We then waited a further 20 minutes for 2 bowls of soup, and then they forgot the bread which went with it so I had to go and ask for that. The attitude was not driven by Customer Service, more like they were doing me a favour!!!They screwed up the coffee orders after waiting another 20 minutes, so we just paid for the soups and left, probably never to return!!!!!The people sitting next to us had a similar experience and said they would not return. This place needs a serious look at customer service and probably some new management!

Very few chains manage to pull off consistency like this. The kitchen teams are very well trained to add the little touches to dishes that are centrally dictated and the service is very much the responsibility of the maitre d' in each location so somehow this chain works. The food is just right; modest portions (but by no means mean) and full of flavour with enough of an Italian feel to be authentic. It is also a formula that has stood the test of time, as several of the dishes have remained unchanged favourites for years and years now. Not great food but reliable and tasty. The service is good - even when the place is bristling with mums and buggies. Quick, lively and attentive, in keeping with the style of the place. But also always with a bit of personality. The counter by the door is also a great place for small food ideas and presents - slightly over-priced but very stylish.Carluccio's has no pretensions to be a grand restaurant but it consistently over-delivers on what it offers.

4 of us went for lunch yesterday Sunday 20th .Two of us ordered grilled chicken, £12.50 each when it came up it was one small piece of dry chicken and coleslaw ,nothing else no salad nothing ,and for £12.50 a rip off.My husband ordered a side portion of roast potatoes with his lunch ,it was no more than one small potato cubed.£3.50 We asked for tap water with lemon , a jug came no lemon and no ice so it was warm .I ordered a dessert with passion fruit , what came up was a dessert with raspberries !Anyway the bill came to £66.95 won't be going back . Service was not with a smile .

I was in the area with a commitment at Lord's Cricket Ground and Carluccio's was recommended to me by the man on the gate. It was an easy walk from the ground and I immediately felt at home with its friendly atmosphere and comfortable seating. I was very well looked after and had a delicious breakfast, setting me up for the day. Many thanks to Daniel, in particular, who was very friendly and professional. I would strongly recommend Carluccio's to anyone visiting the area, especially first thing in the morning!

This great little restaurant is just around the corner from the Danubius Hotel where we were staying. The menu has a nice variety of traditional Italian dishes from seafood pasta to lemon infused ravioli or risotto to lasagna. Nice house wines and a varied selection of Italian digestives. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. Salad, entree, wine, and grappa for £23.

I get my coffee from there most weekdays and often stop in for breakfast on the weekend. The food is always good and the staff are always friendly and helpful, especially Klara. I've noticed it gets very crowded on weekends, especially at lunchtime, hence I prefer going for breakfast, when it is easier to get a table of my choice and everyone is more relaxed!

I've occasionally eaten at various London branches of Carluccio's over the years and have always viewed it as somewhere decent to get a reasonably priced, not especially exciting, but perfectly ok meal with efficient service. Not so today. We told the waitress we were a bit pushed for time and asked how long it would take to get a soup starter. She assured us that it would be quick, so we ordered the soup followed by a pasta & a salad main. The soup did indeed arrive quickly. But having finished it, we sat and waited and waited for our mains. For well over half an hour. This was a weekday lunchtime, when a restaurant, especially a well-established & huge operation like carluccio's ought to be able to deliver better than that. I had to keep asking where our order was and was given various excuses, like how busy the restaurant was (it wasn't even full, and even if it had been that's no excuse for somewhere like that), how the kitchen were having (unspecified) "problems." At one point a waitress promised she'd check with the kitchen how long it would be, but then proceeded to keep on serving other tables and it was only when I got up and asked her again that she did check. Who knows if it's always like that there, but it's enough to put me off going again, especially given it's not like you go there to have the most mind-blowing food in London.

We eat from time to time in various Carluccio's as the pasta dishes are invariably very good.No problem with the food or wine here but this restaurant apparently has management issues.Service was pathetic..initial food order was fine, beyond that requests for a clean water glass, additional wine and mineral water were repeated three times to achieve a positive result. In the rear of the restaurant most of a pasta portion spilt on the floor remained on the floor during our stay. The floor area around the food service area was also filthy and littered with plastic wrapped (opened)package of mineral water bottles.Certainly not the standard we usually appreciate at Carluccio's.

Popped in one night. Food was good, but pricey, but the service is where the whole evening went down hill. One entree did not come until 20 minits after the rest of the table had finished their dinners. The waiter's excuse was 'I was on break'. I was aghast and spoke to management about scheduling breaks during the dinner hour??? Which made no sense to me or anyone else in the restaurant business. I was offered some lame excuse, bribed with some grappa, which we declined. They did 'comp' the rissotto, but that still left a us feeling cheated.

We have enjoyed many perfectly pleasant if unexciting times in this chain place over twelve years or so, but a visit this week suggested that standards have virtually collapsed recently. The place was more than half empty on a weekday afternoon; we were seated and then had to wait for quite a while to be served. We asked for two glasses of 'fresh lemonade' without sugar. We then waited for another ten minutes and were brought two glasses of what did not taste much like fresh lemonade (although it should have been - they had taken long enough to grow the lemons from seeds) and had sugar. A little later my friend asked for coffee, which never arrived. We gave up on the idea of ordering food. We simply couldn't get the attention of staff to ask for the bill, so finally had to walk out and pay at the counter. I can't imagine what the place would be like if it was anywhere near full - you probably wouldn't get served until the middle of the next week.A shame, as the location is good, the room is beautiful and it would be so easy to get the simple things (like taking at least a faint interest in serving the customers) right.I read somewhere that the Finance Director had resigned recently after many years in the role. Perhaps he got tired of waiting for his coffee.

Just off St John's Wood High Street, pleasant decor and the usually expected good food.Nothing out of this world but a reliable and predictably pleasant evening and dining. Three of us had an entree and main course each, plus one had a dessert. Two bottles of drinkable white and a bill for 75 pounds. Would certainly go again.

My family and I visited carluccio's for a quick brunch at 11h00. We were told that we would have to wait 10 minutes for a table, despite there being numerous empty tables. When I queried this I was told that they are reserved for lunch time. I explained that we had only popped in for a quick brunch and that I would be out before lunch - we were then shown to a table. The food was good, the service extremely slow, especially bearing in mind that they wanted us out by lunch time. But all in all not bad.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So with that in mind I have illustrated my experience of a recent visit to this branch of Carlucci’s with some photographs. I felt compelled to take these to document a most shocking example of contempt Carlucci’s have for their patrons. As you can see it is no exaggeration to use the adjective, ‘disgusting’.I met a friend in St Johns Wood for coffee on a weekday afternoon. An area where the locals are more than most concerned with acceptable levels of hygiene and general cleanliness. So I was was most shocked on what I discovered when I decided on a visit to the restaurant bathroom. As you can see here in these photographs. The toilets are located in the basement, so one has to descend a narrow grubby staircase which is also the access to the kitchens and leads on to a corridor which doubles as a storage area for the kitchens. Everywhere you look is filthy which must also be an indication of the food they serve. So somewhat confused it seemed this was not an area for customers as it has none of the contemporary deli design as displayed upstairs.I was immersed in dim fluorescent lighting in what seemed to be a back utility area. I assumed I had taken a wrong turn as there were no signs and the filth grime and storage littering my path was confusing but I continued to the end and I came to two doors with signs for men and women. So I entered the cramped mens loo and as you can see here this would be unacceptable in the roughest of pubs on the outskirts of a rundown industrial wasteland and to encounter this at Carlucci’s St Johns Wood is another example of the poor service London continually offers its beleaguered customers. There was no point trying to communicate my findings to the staff, little do they care...

The service is absolutely rubbishy here. We are having lunch and we have been waiting for our dishes 20 mins between them. 15 mins after order we got the drinks. And still 20 mins await from the dessert. Is not busy at all and looks like they are having 200 customers. I am not going to back never more here.

Went on Sunday for mum's 85th birthday and were not disappointed. The service, despite the restaurant being full of families, was efficient and the place had a good vibe - buzzy without being too noisy. Regular chain-fare, made special by a lovely waiter, who took the time to chat to mum. A favourite.

Absolutely disgraceful, 4 hot chocolates were 68 pound!!! The hot chocolate was cold and was dripping down the cup. Way too expensive, service was so mean shouting at us saying if we are not a client we can't use the toilets. So we sat down and then served us 4 cold chocolates and then left without saying anything!!! I wouldn't recommend this place I hope this place gets shut down.
