Carluccios - St Christophers Place in City of London, Westminster

This restaurant has switched to the European 'service charge' model. The food and service was fine but adding 12.5% to the bill (which I only noticed after paying) is a swindle we can do without in the UK. It's claimed the rip-off is optional but it is automatically added to the bill. If it were optional I would have to take an action to pay it, other forms of inertia sales are banned.What makes this even worse is that most of the money will not go to the staff, half will be wasted in tax and most of the rest used by the shareholders to achieve the statutory minimum wage.These dirty practices are not acceptable in the UK.

I was too early for my flight so I decided to delight myself with some Italian food, yes as Italian I tried it in London Heathrow! To my pleasant surprise, the meatballs in sauce were great (missed a tiny bit of salt) but they were truly good. I also gave advice on a few spices to add, I had the linguine with lobster and shrimps, they were very good and al dente! The octopus parts were a bit too soft for me as in chewy but that's me, the taste of it all was super good. All accompanied by a glass of pinot grigio, I had a delicious time.

Had Ragu today here , had to be the worst I’ve experienced, tasteless , cold , bits of things in the sauce , you can see in the side of the plate , I will NEVER be back worst ever

If your in the west end. You know that Carluccios. Never fails to deliver. On value for money and standard of quality every branch.

Great food and good portion. Full of flavour and tasty. Aster our waitress was excellent. Attentive service, smiling and food served without delay. A great Italian treat 👌

Great restaurant, part of a chain but unique, hidden away in St Christopher’s Place. With seating inside and out, they have all weathers covered. Staff were friendly and welcoming, service fast and efficient and food quality high. With a wide menu choice at reasonable prices it’s a great place to stop shopping and relax!

I visit Carlucios regularly and was impressed in getting seated at my preferred table and how polite the staff are, as in London I find many restaurants and staff rude but in this Carluccio’s I felt like home, I met Carluccio the man once and was a very nice man and passionate about his food, sad the mushroom pasta is gone but in this store they still try to make it for me. I loved the fact the manager came to check up on all the tables and I did not like the wine and he changed it immediately, impressive, we had a chat and was nice, I think he said his name was EdiOverall good atmosphere, service and food

Fui hoy con un amigo solo para tomar una copa o dos. El servicio fue atroz, muy lento y ciertamente no servicio con una sonrisa! Ni siquiera estaba tan ocupado, tener alrededor de 3. 30/4 pm, así que entre el almuerzo y la cena. La primera vez que he estado y estaba muy decepcionado

El restaurante estaba ubicado en la calle Christophers Place, cerca de Bond Street Tube. Es un agradable y moderno restaurante italiano con muchos asientos, incluyendo algunas mesas exteriores. El servicio fue un poco lento, pero la comida era genial. Tuve calamares como entrante y pollo en salsa de champiñones como plato principal. Todos estaban bien cocinados a precios razonables. Era un gran ambiente y es un buen lugar para pasar la noche.

After waiting for several minutes to be seated in a half empty restaurant and being ignored by the manager who was having a nice chat with her friend we decided to take the weight off our feet a bit and take a seat at a table next to her whilst she finished her chat that was clearly far more interesting than we were. Big mistake! Doing so clearly annoyed her and we were deliberately ignored for another few minutes. In the end I got the menus myself, provoking another dirty look and a derisory snort. We were so astonished by her rude behavior that we got up and left.I will NEVER EVER go to this restaurant again nor to any other Carluccios, this woman is clearly in the wrong job. And I can see that I am not the only person who has complained about the staff here... I suggest some re-training or possibly a firing is in order....

We dropped in here for lunch whilst in the West End. Had a passable meal of Ragu and pasta and Linguini with shellfish. Ideal if you are in a bit of a hurry.

Uncertain if the staff are slow, incompetent or both. We picked Carluccios as it’s a well known brand but this one employs a glacial paced system of hospitality. Everything goes at a snails pace and when the food does arrive it’s pretty unremarkable. The soup, when it finally made an appearance, was totally bland. I’ve never seen quite so many waiting staff do a job so poorly and with an air of casual uselessness. Avoid this place, there’s much better alternatives nearby.

The food was actually nice but the restaurant manager clearly does not have any respect for her customers. Let’s take things from the start. We arrived and queued with another 4 groups of people for a table at around 19:30 on a busy day. We (understandably) waited for 15 minutes until any tables started being freed up. We thought that we would soon be seated but.... nobody cleaned the tables and inexplicably nobody was seated for another 20 minutes while many tables had already been freed up and waiters were doing everything else but attempting to prepare them for a new guest. After the 40 minute mark the gentleman next to me (who turned to be a restaurant owner himself) asked why we were still standing while there were many tables free. Carluccio’s female manager with a distinct accent answered that “we are understaffed and there is no reason to seat you down now because your orders will delay anyway”!!! The gentleman responded that he would feel much better waiting seated than standing (heavy coats on and kids all standing). She responded quite obnoxiously and in a derogatory way that “I appreciate your suggestion on how to do my business” and left us for another 10 minutes standing....

We are here pre theatre the food was ok and we were served quickly , unfortunately I was put off of eating my food as our waiter didn’t have the most pleasant aroma , and whilst he was walking about the resturant he left most of this unpleasant aroma following behind him ..which really put me off .I am amazed that one of his colleagues have not addressed this ,

Me and my family went for shopping in London and stoped for lunch here. Our server, Mario, made memorable. From the moment we been sat down by the gentleman at the door till the end he make sure everything is spot on. Just to add on, the place was pact and there were que waiting for table. Credit for the management as they choose the right team as Mario. Happy new year and will be back for sure

I often think that friendly service and a good attitude by staff is more than important than the food in a restaurant. Fortunately, Carluccio’s in St Christopher’s Place – and in other branches where I have eaten – excels in both.

They sent us to the table, left menu. We waited 20 minutes until somebody gets back to us to ask for drinks we wanted. We were ready to order, nobody looked at as. Wasn’t that busy. After 30 minutes we left, nobody even realised. Very poor, very bad experience.

Popped in for a light bite. Fifteen mins after arrival still desperately trying to catch waitress eye. 20 mins after end of meal tried to catch different staff member to order a coffee. No staff who know what they are doing and a skeleton crew at best. Waitress told me she should have finished an hour ago. Really poor. Company appears to be going down the pan..

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Nice big restaurant so lots of space. Food was amazing, I had pate, mushroom lasagna and a giant profiterole. Each course was delicious and really good value! I’ll definately be coming back!

We dined on the 14th of December as we were around Bond street.

We always eat here and it's always very good. Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Would definely recomend!

We nipped in for a quick business lunch. I chose crab and langoustine linguini and my colleague enjoyed lamb shank with a saffron risotto. We both enjoyed the food and the service was very good.

The food was average and as expected from Carluccio’s.

After sitting down for 25 minutes I had to get the attention of a waiter to ask if we could order, we ordered drinks and food as to stop any further delays. When they eventually did bring us our drinks they gave one in the party a drink they hadn't order which we asked to be changed, which it was with no issues. Starters were fine burnt garlic bread and the others both underwhelming too. When it came to mains they got 1 of the parties order completely wrong having order the chicken and chorizo risotto she was bought a carbonara pasta, we pointed out this is not what was order and they ran off to fetch the correct order. In the mean time the others in the party had finished their meals, a dry minute steak and under cooked hard pasta, around 10-15 mins later they came back with a mushroom risotto still not what was ordered but the waiter ran off so quickly after putting it down we didnt have time to say it wasnt correct again. It was early evening on a Monday and the waiters were running round like headless chickens even though it wasn't busy making it hard to get their attention or any sort of service.

It’s hard to not like this place. The service staff were excellent and I was very pleased with my food and desert. I started with a Glass of Wine and a bottle of water and then ordered two appetizers that when very well together. When I was finished my waitress recommended a dessert which was very good and finished it with coffee.

We are family of three vegan members. This is restaurant was a really good choice, excellent food, very clean, nice decorations, spacious, versatile menu, extraordinary customer service, nice, friendly and attentive. I highly recommend it

We were a group of 5 who stayed for breakfast/lunch + drinks on Mon, 4/11. We were happy with the food. Reasonably priced, decent quality. Staff who served us were generally polite. But throughout our time, we have to get their attention several times to order drinks / more food. A couple of times I went up to them to order drinks/snacks. So at the end, I felt that I shouldn’t be obliged to tip. Not that great a service. When the staff (a young girl) realised I wasn’t gonna tip her face fell and I could tell straightaway she wasn’t happy by the way she returned my card. This left a bad taste in my mouth and i would never return even though I was generally happy with the food.

Whilst shopping in Oxford Street, we thought we'd come here again for lunch. Our first time since January. I stated in my review last time that the Pollo Milanese was a bit on the large side.

We stopped off at Carluccio’s at Christopher Place, London for our evening meal. Really nice restaurant and very convenient for where we were staying. We had the tomato bruschetta for starters and the chicken Milanese for mail course and it was delicious. Happy days.

Another fix spot while visiting the city, it is a real pleasure when you cross from Oxford St through St. Christopher Place and suddenly discover what's on.

Just walked out of this restaurant with my wife, do not go in here if your wearing jeans or just dressed casual as the staff assume you cannot afford to eat and pay really really angry had to control my self as this was a restaurant that had been recommended by a friend and one I was looking forward to eating in.

absolutely top. Especially with this great team and authentic italian food a super shopping day is granted. Ilaria from Roma was super friendly and competent and she makes this italien restaurant even more authenic. super service, excellent food - cool woth kids. what do you want more.

A very nice breakfast of avocado poached eggs on grilled ciabatta. Lovely ambiance, bright and welcoming restaurant. Convenient position near Selfridges on a pretty corner. Service was attentive and quick. Would definitely come again.

We visited on a Saturday evening, got a table for two without problem and ordered fairly promptly – and the food duly arrived. My partner had Tuna salad and she was very happy with it – it was good. I had Chicken Milanaise (a chicken breast in breadcrumbs with a salad) and it was extremely disappointing. The chicken was bland (possibly overcooked), and more akin to what I would expect in a motorway services, and the salad was dry and unappetising. It looked like a handful of lettuce from a pre-packed supermarket bag, plus a few cherry tomatoes and not much more. It was without any dressing, and when I asked a waiter if I could have some he reluctantly went in search of some mustard dressing which was also pretty poor. There was a time when English salads were traditionally dry and unimaginative, but in recent times we have discovered the joys of a well dressed salad with a cascade of interesting flavours and spices. In this respect, this salad provoked no joy, just nostalgia for the bad old days of the English traditional salad.

staff were great and patient. service was v good and actually helped me chose off menu without any issues. atmosphere great. staff made it for me!

We went on a Saturday evening and the section we were put in had several noisy groups whose noise levels made for a very uncomfortable experience. Fortunately after about 15 minutes they all left which made things much better.

Had a breakfast in their Waterloo station Restaurant. nice open deck area. Food was nice and the service was good as well.

My 1st visit to this restaurant & loved it, love the area too so convenient from shopping nearby. We had quick waiter service by pleasant friendly staff. The food was so good I will be eating anywhere I see a branch of Carluccios. good food, good wine, also small shop where I bought drinking choc which is delicious, can't fault this place, can't wait to go again :-)

My wife and 12 year old daughter had a lovely day out West End shopping to end the summer holidays and I met them after work last Friday. After a lovely wander around St Christopher’s Place we decided to round the evening off in Carluccio’s. we were looked after by the lovely Ilaria who was so charming she even got my daughter to share some of her dessert with me! Lovely food and even better service in a great location.

We had the table booked through a reservation for 3 people. Unfortunately 1 of our party was running late with work, so we informed the server that sat us that we'd be ordering food for 2 and we'd order the 3rd meal if/when the 3rd party member arrived.

I was traveling with my family and we had a nice evening at carluccio’s! The food was very good and Ilaria was so nice to us! Adorable waitress! Unforgettable night!

Went to this restaurant two days ago.Service is poor and there are other restaurants nearby which I will try next time. Could learn something from the Solihull restaurant where the service is amazing.

Brilliant lunch, we turned up on a busy Saturday and managed to get a table inside - friendly happy staff! It was busy but we ordered a dish each and it did not take long to arrive. I had a new veggie dish - rice balls with tomato salsa and a side of broccoli and it was delicious. Very clean and relaxing within a buzzing area just off Oxford Street - not far from Selfridges. Will return.

Arrived at the Oriental Club dropped our bags and wandered around the corner to get lunch at St Christopher square.

The coffee at this place reminds me of Italy. The service is great. The staff is helpful and kind. Definitely one of the best places in London

My family and I had a great time at this carluccios, good food and great service, our waitress Tatiana was great so was the team as well. Definitely will come back.

Came across this restaurant after concierge at our hotel said to try St Christopher's Place for a meal. We saw the girl out front to get a booking , it was no problem.We returned before 7pm in time to get the choice of the set price menus. I had the chicken and the chocolate bread & butter pudding my wife had the pate as a starter followed by the fish , both meals great value .The manager had a chat to us at the end of the meal and it capped of a great night.

This restaurant offered Italian dishes. Flavors are very authentic. We ordered a salad, mushroom risotto, peach dessert. Prices are reasonable and service very friendly. We went to dinner and place was very crowded, had to wait about 10 Minutes. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a good time, the food was delicious especially the arancini. On top of that Ilaria, the waitress was so kind and nice. She provided us with an excellent service! We will definitely come back!

We had lunch here waiting for our train. The food was very good, but the staff and management was outstanding. Great team!

A friend and I visited on a Friday evening for coffee followed by G & T, wine and and some nibbles. All very tasty and we were glad to be served by Ilaria who took good care of us.

Much as I would prefer to try other eateries nearby, we have been dining at Carluccio’s, St. Christopher’s Place for years - it’s my husbands favourite. Well, no longer. Whilst the service was brilliant, we moved from our chosen table because of the noise from the upstairs area where all the waiters take the used items of crockery etc. If I hadn’t looked to check, you would have believed the waiting staff were throwing everything from one end of the room to see if they could actually get the plates into the sink - it was horrendous.

The food was satisfactory but the service by our waitress Ilaria was memorable as she was polite, always smiling and ensured everything ran smoothly although it was a super buzy Friday evening!

Start was not good as ordered some wine and one of wine glasses was dirty with lipstick marks on the rim, so had to ask waiter to change the glass and there was no sorry or apology from him. Food was average with poor service. There are definitely other better Italian food restaurants around. Extremely disappointed.

Ordered. The staff were rushed off their feet and I had to ask 3 times for anything I wanted like oil or the cake. Found hair in my starter and my friend found a hair in their main course. Really disgusting as I hate unhygienic food.

I was there Saturday night, and had a lovely time at the terrace. Food and service was great, all the staff was very helpful and efficient. Great wine recommendation and atmosphere made our evening exceptional. Definitely coming back next time we are in London.

Three of us met for a meal and a catch up and picked the St. Christopher place venue having been there several times previously.

The West End has changed so much in recent years. One of my favourite 'haunts' is Mayfair, mainly because it has two auction houses and of course Grey's the antique centre. In recent years the few café's I liked to visit have evaoprated. I am not talking about 'classy' ones but good old fashioned establishments. I asked a silver dealer I frequent where he suggested I should go for a light lunch. He suggested St Chritopher's Place. It is not Mayfair, but it is very close. I had completely forgotten about the beautiful haven of a backwater off Oxford Street. You go down a narrow passage and it openes up into a litttle lane of shops, cafés and restaurants. The area is east of Selfridges. There I came across Carlucio's. I had walked alot that morning and I just wanted to sit, have a light lunch and a coffee with a biscuit. I spotted a waitress carrying smashed advocado on grilled ciabatta - that was IT! Alas, it was not onthe menu (it was on the breakfast one) but my very helpful waitress (Sarah) arranged it. I do not know what seeds had been plced on the advocado, but they were delicious. She suggested a small macaroon with my coffee. OK it was twee - but deicious. I should have had a trio of three. I will be back!

We used to have meals here regularly but for various reasons we have not been for a few years. Excellent value and delicious food with friendly service and attention.

Very disappointed with the service today at this restaurant. Have visited other carluccios many times and have been very happy. Ordered steak from set menu here and did not get potatoes as on menu. When this was pointed out afterwards, were told that it was our fault for not telling them earlier. Staff could have been a bit more friendly about it. No tip for first time ever and we eat out lots.

كعادتنا نتمشى مع الاجواء البارده اللطيفه وكان بطريقنا عده مطاعم وبما انه يوم عطله كان اغلب المطاعم مزدحمه فاخترنا كارلوتشز الايطالي بصراحه الخدمه رائعه وسريعه طلبنا سلطه الشمندر مع جبنه الماعز ويلطه البراتا كانتا لذيذتان جدا ثم طلبنا الريزوتو بالدجاج وسباغتي مع البحريات ورافيولي جبنه وسبانخ وكذلك باستا بالخضار الاكل لذيذ وكميته معقوله انصح بالذهاب له مع العائله لان كل الطعام لذيذ وليس به كحول لاغلب الاطباقالذواقه

I had dinner with a friend, she introduced me to Caponata siciliata, which i loved, then she had the mushroom risotto, i choosed the swordfish. It was all tasty and the fish just grilled right to the point. The waiter was very nice and helpful finding the right wine. Surely a place to come back to...

We hebben meer dan 15 minuten op het terras gezeten en hebben geen ober gezien. Na 15 minuten was er ineens wel iemand buiten, maar werden we genegeerd. Ook als beleefde geduldige jan met de pet is het dan weg met de pret, dikke pech maar dan brengen we het geld weg.

We arranged a family lunch at the restaurant next to South Kensington station but after a short wait we were served what I consider ordinary food! Just warm enough no to have to send it back

OK so not the most authentic or atmospheric of Italians but the food was well cooked and beautifully presented. The staff were very helpful, especially when there was a small confusion over the bill. Nice to be off the main road yet still in the bustle. Everything from a snack to a full meal with trimmings. Always reliable for a meal out

Their menu has limited choices and is based on Italian cuisine, but the food they serve does not taste as it should. There are better places in London if you like to taste truly italian meals. On the positive side, the place is clean, the staff is efficient and the prices are reasonable.

We went here for a late afternoon dinner. A lovely sunny day so a pleasure initially to sit outside and peoplewatch. The first clouds on the horizon were when, after 10 minutes, we were informed a chosen starter was unavailable, another was chosen but again after a long interval, we were told that this plus 3 more were off. It would be helpful and quicker if waiting staff were kept informed so they could tell you the choices available when ordering. The pate when it arrived was ok. Another very long wait for the chicken in breadcrumbs to arrive. This dish proved very disappointing as it was rubbery chicken encased in thick batter like breadcrumbs and uninspiring rocket salad.

A wonderful spontaneous evening out, dining al fresco with wonderful company. St Christopher’s place is an enchanting place to come. The mushroom risotto was fantastic and our waiter Simone really was exceptionally friendly and made some great recommendations. 5 stars!!

Been here 6-7 times and every time its been really good... but this was our first visit back in about 11 months. Service was good and the breakfast we had was really lovely. Perfect as always. Won’t leave it so long for our next visit.

Went to Carluccios today to celebrate buying my daughter a wedding dress, the staff made us feel very special even though the restaurant was busy. In particular I have to say thanks to Simone who served us and made the experience a great one.

I like the design, blue and white colours and the menu, decent Italian food, the pasta with seafood was very good.

They advertise a deal that is not available inside. The food was mediocre. Quite expensive. The service was friendly, and the decor is modern. The atmosphere was nice. I didn’t like my dish, or the fact that they advertise a deal that they do not give you.

I didn't fancy Italian but this place is incredible. The pasta was sooooooooo good. It melted in my mouth. It was just like being in Italy. Loved the place and will be back for sure.

i like the place and staff. a good varity of good food and drink choice. very good, friendly staff. you can sit out on veranda on sunny days. busy during lunchtime.

We ordered 2 mint teas and on came in a glass with leaves dumped in, the other in a teapot. Service was shocking we had to ask for water 4 times. The toast was cold and our food arrived 10 mins apart. Not coming back especially with staff who look so miserable and don't want to serve you!

I have been coming to this restaurant since Antonio Carluccio used to wander around taking to customers.

We've eaten here many a time, and always enjoyed this branch of Carluccios. This time we were in a bit of a hurry, but the waiter couldn't have been more accommodating, and the food came splendidly quickly. Really tasty seafood pasta - a perfect pre-concert meal. Recommended.

Un pranzo gradevole in questo ristorante italiano sito in St Christophers Place, in una piacevole e nascosta piazzetta raggiungibile tramite un vicolo stresso e mimetizzato tra i negozi di Oxford Street. L’ambiente informale ed amichevole ha permesso di pranzare in maniera spensierata. Ottima focaccia e discreta pasta al dente. Personale gentile, in particolare grazie al cameriere Paco, che ci ha anche offerto un caffè Doc.

Had a business meeting here today and the food & service were good, however the toilets were really, really awful... If the toilets are this bad what is the kitchen like?

Carluccio's has a great vibe. Always busy and producing great food. The service was attentive, discreet and warm and friendly. Not the cheapest of Italians, but there is something very authentic about this restaurant chain. Well worth a visit. Enjoy!

I was asked if I had an allergy from the get go and Simone our waiter insisted on his Manager taking my orders throughout the meal as I have a bit intolerance. Thank you for the service and attention Simone!

Friendly staff, relatively quick service, bu very average food overall. I was with some colleagues, had a caprese salad (not particularly good) and vegetarian spaghetti, which was al dente (good) but a bit tasteless really...

Greeted with a smile. The menu is extensive. Our waiter, Michal was efficient and checked whether our meal was ok. I had veal Ossobuco which was tender, my husband had seabass with tomato salsa. Portions in both meals were more than enough. The plum tart was delicious.We will be going back again soon
