Celebrated my 50th birthday at Carberry tower with my husband. We were given a warm greeting and a complimentary room upgrade to a beautiful spacious suite. All staff were very friendly and polite throughout. The food in the restaurant was outstanding. The breakfast plentiful and delicious. The whole hotel was extremely clean. On my birthday we were given a complimentary drink each in the restaurant. Everything was 100%. Highly recommend.

Good size carpark and it's free to use. Warm friendly check in and all information given A lift connects all floors but you may need to use the stairs for some rooms. The room was spacious and clean, the shower room was a bit on the small side. The bed was super comfortable. Wifi was ok The shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast not included but could be added if wanted. Evening meal was excellent, a few good items on the menu, reasonably priced. The location is set in beautiful Scottish countryside. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Avoid at all costs for Christmas dinner unless you are happy paying 145pp for a 5 course meal that is nothing like what is stated on the set menu, left at mains as we were so disappointed with cold undercooked bland small portions with no help from the poor staff who had to deal with it all on the day and now being offered 25% refund as goodwill. If I could give 0 stars I would we will never be back as been let down time and time again here this is the third and last visit from us!

We came for an afternoon tea. The only good thing about it was our waitress. She was lovely and very attentive. The sandwiches were very dry, I'm pregnant and told them this at time of booking, I was still served brie. One of the rolls was a dry roll with some gaucamole on it ...grim. After saying I couldn't eat the brie I was served a ham and cheese sandwich was was dry and pretty inedible. The cakes were all obviously shop bought including left over mince pies. There is deffo much better options near by. I wouldn't recommend at all.

We visited this beautiful mansion last year for afternoon tea, which was really special and delicious 😋 !! Elegant room with traditional decor and views of gardens were fabulous, felt so relaxed. So our second visit yesterday, decided to try lunch in the Campaign Room. We loved the service, the food did not disappoint. Menu reasonably priced. Lovely service too, In particular, we would like to thank Sophie who made our visit extra special. 😊 She had the most polite and helpful manner. A lovely young lady who remained so professional, but showed interest on how we'd enjoyed our meal. My husband had the fish n chips, he enjoyed thoroughly. I had the asparagus and ricotta tortellini with parmesan shaving, a side of truffle and parmesan chunky chips, yum !! Nearly had soup and a sandwich, part of the menu. Sophie said the sticky toffee pudding was a good choice. It was without any doubt. A wonderful light sponge with gorgeous butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream ... .. it was divine ✨️ 😋 Can't wait to return on our next stay in the area. Thank you 😊!!! xxx

Wonderful mansion tucked inside a serene location. The rooms are well maintained with modern amenities. Had dinner and drinks at their restaurant and it was an amazing experience. A lot of choices for breakfast as well. Overall highly recommended!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our Carberry experience- it was the highlight of our UK trip. It is a magical place. The workers from the groundskeeper, bartender, tea room experience, restaurant workers, were amazing. Can’t wait to return again!

This hotel is all looks... The food and drinks are pricy for what you get however it is great tasting food, the room was small with a small double bed, There is no service or WiFi here so you will be completely disconnected from the world (I guess it could be a good thing for some but not for me ). The room was a oven and sleeping was very difficult due to the heat in the rooms, no air conditioning and a small fan was not enough. I slept about 3 hours. Lastly the location is very remote meaning it's hard to get anywhere without your own transportation and taxis will take about 15 mins.

Stayed here this week for a couple of nights in one of the suites for a wedding. The room was very large, very clean and well maintained. The property is stunning and the grounds more so. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Certainly recommend and I will certainly be staying again in the future.

Staying at the Carberry Tower in Edinburgh was an unforgettable experience that I would recommend to anyone, without hesitation. This majestic castle, dating back to 1480, is not only a piece of Scottish history but also a luxurious retreat that surpasses all expectations. The estate's landscape is breathtaking, with expansive views that invite calm and reflection. Wandering the grounds, we were delighted by the occasional sightings of local wildlife, adding a touch of nature's serenity to our stay. Our week-long visit was for a group conference, and every aspect of our stay was meticulously catered to by the Carberry Tower's staff. They were the epitome of professionalism—kind, courteous, and exceptionally accommodating, ensuring our conference went smoothly and every participant felt valued and well cared for. The castle's historical ambiance is palpable, with each hall and room whispering stories of the past, yet providing all the modern comforts one could wish for. It was everything we could have imagined and more, truly enhancing our conference experience with its unique charm and elegance. Whether for business or pleasure, a stay at the Carberry Tower is a remarkable escape into Scotland's heritage and beauty.

This was our second time staying here. This time, we brought our children. Every time we visit Edinburgh, this will be where we stay! Right off the entrance was grand, gorgeous, and welcoming. The whole place is oozing with charm. We loved walking in the gardens or exploring the libraries and sitting rooms. My girls entertained other guests by playing the pianos. The rooms were lovely and well stocked! The staff was always super helpful. I loved the location, far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to Edinburgh for dsily visits. Although we've got a few years, I'm trying to convince one of my kids to get married in Scotland so I can experience a wedding here. Highly recommend. Will come back time and time again!

Nice property and location, but in my experience from 4 stays in recent times, not all rooms are presented to an acceptable standard. Serving & house staff do provide excellent service, but as detailed below, "management" have proved patronising, condescending and inflexible when sought to resolve issues. On my most recent pre-Christmas day visit in a group of 6 (mostly from overseas), our booking for afternoon tea in either the impressive drawing room or library (as per the website offer / promotion) was relegated to a table in a corner of the public bistro building, situated astonishingly right beside the toilet entrances when there was plenty of alternative space elsewhere in an otherwise almost deserted room....! Moreover, the female "manager" insisted that despite the terms of our booking and genuine interest, free access to the rest of the historic house (and garden / grounds) was not allowed, due to a wedding taking place at the time of our not inexpensive long-standing afternoon tea booking. No mention at the time of booking... We were definitely made to feel like second-class visitors - yet were charged the full price, with no apology or reduction for such a restricted offering. We are not encouraged to return. Caveat emptor.

Atmospheric place, peace and quiet. A perfect place for a weekend and relaxation. We were enchanted. I fell in love with the library (I could have one at home 😜). Good dinner, breakfast could be improved.

10/10. We had an immediate wow factor when we arrived, driving down the long, elegant driveway. We couldn't believe how stunning the hotel is. The staff were welcoming and efficient upon arrival, and we were in shock at how stunning the hotel is. Our room was small but cozy. It had a homey guest bedroom feel, very clean and warm with the most comfortable bed. We both slept brilliantly for three nights. Breakfast was lovely, greeted each morning by welcoming staff. Breakfast was cooked fresh and brought to the table with a choice of other bits and pieces to help ourselves to. The hotel is full of charm and character with so many different rooms to explore. My boyfriend and I felt like we were in the Saltburn movie. 😂 The only thing missing from our room was soap; everything else was perfect! We would 100% stay again. Thank you!!

We had our wedding at Carberry Tower in January 2024 and it was so magical! The setting was gorgeous, the rooms, the chapel and reception room were all stunning. The food and drinks were fantastic and the whole wedding package was very reasonably priced. The team at Carberry were very accomodating and flexible with changes along the way and really looked after us while we were there! We will definitely be back to visit soon!

Man I really wanted to like this place but it just continued to let us down and was kind of a bummer since we were ending our honeymoon here. There were some positives: the estate is gorgeous and the grounds are really beautiful. There are lots of walkable trails on the property which we took full advantage of. Another positive was the food in the bistro was pretty good and the wait staff in there were very kind and friendly. Now to the not so positive, starting with the room. Our room was very small and cramped (I get it, it’s an old property, we paid for a standard room) but the carpets and furniture were stained. There were cobwebs all over the place and dirt and fingerprints all over the mantel and furniture. It honestly felt so grimy and gross in there. I get “old time charm” and all that but this place was genuinely just not clean. The shower was FULL of black mold, to the point where we just didn’t even want to bathe in it, and the sink didn’t drain. The bed was rock hard (genuinely felt like we were sleeping on a plank of wood) and honestly we just didn’t even want to spend time in the room because it was so miserable. Our room also overlooked a courtyard area where the employees like to hang out (at all hours of the day) and one evening they were even out there at 11pm playing music, singing, smoking, etc. it was pretty miserable to be honest. Also of note is that we got the vibe from some of the staff here that we were an annoyance or bother anytime we had questions. We got brushed off a few times when we made inquiries and another time were genuinely pushed out the door (and I mean literally) when we were trying to return for dinner reservations because they were “dealing with another party”. We weren’t trying intrude or butt in, we literally were just walking in and got ushered away. It really made us feel awful and made us feel like other guests were more important to them than us. I understand that maybe they were overwhelmed with a large party before us, but they didn't need to send us off or push us out. Overall, just not a great experience. Giving it the extra star because the property is beautiful and the food was decent but honestly, we wouldn’t return here.

We recently had a wedding at Carberry Tower. A stunning spot with a great team who go above & beyond for their guests. The rooms were beautifully appointed with comfortable beds. The historical notes in the room were a great point of interest. The food was outstanding. Obviously, it is a very talented kitchen team that takes pride in the quality, taste & presentation of the food on offer. Lovely little nooks to disappear with a cup of tea or a gin & tonic. Such a rich history on top of all the items mentioned above makes Carberry Tower a must. 👌

I was recommended the Tyneside / Mazzoli by a couple of friends. When we visited at lunch time without reserving a table, there were 4 of us and it was it was quite busy, we got a table and had a very nice meal which we chose off the set lunch menu. The food is lovely, inexpensive and served by very helpful waitresses. We will be back
