Visited recently with a group of family / friends. We were looked after well. Lovely food. Everyone enjoyed it. Will definitely return another time and looking forward to it.

Atmosphere and experience matching to that of a Michelin star restaurant. The ambience was lovely and the food was amazing. I would highly recommend it.

A huge thank you to Anoop and his team at Caraway Lounge for providing an excellent service to our family on Valentine and to friends on our recent visit. The most important restaurant is fully wheelchair accessible. Looking forward to our next visit.

The food was amazing! Anoop listened carefully to what we planned to do for the event and he delivered exactly what we had visioned. All our requests were accommodated and looked after very well, and everything ran extremely smoothly. We’d definitely recommend the venue for events and parties, and we’ll definitely be going back! Brilliant service booked a table with anoop and as promised he met us at the door took is to our table made us feel welcome and the food ..... where do I begin it was amazing as the service for many years I had pannas as my favourite restaurant in east London but this place is head and shoulders above it ...... gutted I’ve not been here before ............. will have to come more often to make up for lost time lol

Been here a few times in the past and wasn’t keen on going back,was told it had been revamped,so we booked to go on a Saturday when they have a DJ,well so glad i did,what a great night we all had,food was amazing ordered far too much,quite big portions,staff were friendly and didn’t wait long for our drink orders.The music was great and danced most of the night away,well until midnight,would definitely recommend and will be visiting again in the near future.

Tried to get in early on Valentine's Day without booking.There was a buzz in the place as they were clearly setting up for a very busy evening.The manager tried every which way to make room for us but in the end we opted for a takeaway, which proved to be exceptional and authentically tasty.I cannot express how friendly and helpful the staff were.I had been told how good this place was and they lived up to my expectations

We went to this place yesterday evening. I will say ‘place and not restaurant’ because it was not a restaurant and neither felt like one! As we walked in they had not cleaned up from a party earlier. So it wasn’t a pleasant entrance. During the entire stay, there was a bad after smell and poor hygiene. To add ... Greasy plates. Smelly napkins, greasy cutlery, the list was endless. I don’t think they wash or clean properly or make an effort. It seems like a money making factory rather than a restaurant. We ordered calamari, seekh kebab and spinach aloo for starters. We had to send the calamari back because it had a bad taste and wasn’t freshly cooked. The seekh kebabs were stale and seemed reheated. The hot platter dish had a bad smell from it as if it hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. The mains we had lamb curry, chicken masala and chicken korma. These were literally watered down, tasteless and only good for filling the stomach rather than enjoying. Summary. Ruined our family evening. Wasted our time in travel to this place ... and wasted £60 on stale food. We should have gone to a local Tesco and picked up frozen curries instead! I would give minus zero star to this place !!!! But had to give 1 star because it’s tripadvisor requirement.

Came here on Boxing Day for nieces 13th bday.. 4 adults 3 kids.. £230.. wouldn’t have minded if the quality was there but such a shame they weren’t up to it.. the mixed grill was £25, but I could’ve eaten it myself.. absolute joke.. few pieces of whatever they had left in the fridge from yday I think.. service was slow on drinks.. the bread was ok, the lamb chops starter not too bad.. couldn’t pick any decent curry out of the ones we ordered.. looks like the chefs must’ve gone home for Xmas n left the owner to cook.. would definitely NOT recommend.. go to ya door at the chambers.. oh and they’re toilets stunk aswell..

Quite simply the best and most authentic Indian cuisine you will get in this area. The chefs achieve a superb balance of taste and spice. The Punjabi Lamb was soft, delicious and carried enough spice to enhance and not overpower the dish. The butter chicken was the best I’ve ever tried. Again, the balance of flavours was as it should be. Service was spot on with the staff making the evening a joy without hovering. The owner takes great pride in his establishment and takes time to find out if you enjoyed your evening. Can not recommend this place enough.

We booked a table for 9 people and only wanted to have a fun night with some dancing and good food. Our night was totally spoilt by a private booking of over 90 people. The restaurant is tiny and cannot accommodate over 100 guests and there were a lot more booked that night. The restaurant lost all its service standards and literally just attended to this private party. They had their private professional photographer and videographer which prevented other people from even going near the dance floor. We were told we have to order our food around that private party as they can’t serve us once they start serving the 90 guests. It felt as we barged into someone’s private party. When we complained about being in their private videos and that the manager should have not allowed public if they had a large private event booked. This is a terrible experience and we are never visiting this place ever again.

We booked for a group of 10 people and went here to celebrate friend’s birthday and I booked this place 3 weeks in advance. At booking I asked if they have a dance floor since it’s dinner and dance they confirmed twice , yes we do. When we got there on the day, the place was packed and as they booked 90 people private party which we were never told about. All we wanted was to have a nice time eat, drink and dance. But it was all spoilt by this large group and the restaurant’s intense desire to just please them and ignore the rest of the guests. We were just eating our starters and were told that we need to quickly order mains as if the 90 people private party orders theirs then we will be waiting for very long. Then the dance floor was totally raided by this large group and they had their professional videographer and photographer so you couldn’t even go to the dance floor. It felt like we were uninvited guests at someone’s private party and were invading there private space and party. However, it shouldn’t have been like this. The restaurant manager shouldn’t have allowed private videographer when the doors were open to the public and it wasn’t booked as a private event. I wish they told me this when I booked as I would have never gone to a place with a maximum 110 seating capacity and then they book 90 people in one go and still the greed doesn’t end and they don’t tell the other people booking that the place will be jam packed and is over booked. The place should have been closed for public as it was a private event. I will not be visiting this pathetic restaurant again with no customer sense. I spoke to the manager who kept saying I don’t work on Saturday’s , I am only here today and that I didn’t book this large group. The manager was extremely unhelpful and rude. He told the group that we are complaining about their videographer and how they have raided the dance floor. Then from that point , we had drunk strangers from that private party coming up to our table asking why we have a problem. Our whole night that we planned 3 weeks in advance was totally ruined by the greed of the restaurant owner or manager who should have not allowed public bookings when he had a private party of 90 booked with their professional videographer and photographer. To top it all up the music stopped when they were eating and began when they demanded. It was all about them and the restaurant was just worried about keeping their big party happy with no regards to the other public who were their guests too. I felt it was a total waste of my money and time. My family and friends didn’t enjoy the night and went home upset. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!! TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT !!! TOTALLY PATHETIC!!!!

We had heard good reviews so decided to celebrate our anniversary with friends on a Saturday. We had to wait for more than half n hour for a table we booked. We were taken to a table - freshly wiped with a smelly cloth! On top we had to wait an hour for starters. Kids were annoyed and wanted to leave the place. Things turned worse when a group of customers decided to turn the restaurant into a club with LOUD music blaring...no concern whatsoever for the rest of us in the restaurant. Never again for us - thank you!!!!

We had some family who came down from North London to try East London food having been there myself once few weeks ago with some girlfriends, I thought I bring our family here, Caraway L never fails to deliver a good warming/accommodating service, DJ great, food is yum....thank you Dal and staff, you made our evening the best

Food was cold and tasted very bad, also had stomach upset for 4 days after. Was not impressed with the staff and they ruined my fathers birthday

Attended a Saturday evening and unfortunately the service was horrendous. Waited a long time for orders to be taken, then nearly 1hr 30 mins for food. Unacceptable especially when we had a hungry child with us, the waitress even brought us another table's order which was left with us for about 5 minutes before someone realised.

Food and entertainment was great. Highly recommended. Had an amazing time and the dj just topped the night off

This was my first visit to this restaurant and I’m used to something a bit more run of the mill. Whilst outside it looks a bit tatty, the decor and ambiance inside were better. Although I found the menu a bit limited from the usual Indian fair, there was still plenty to chose from. Food was hot and very tasty, service was a bit hit and miss, always having to call back staff for drinks, but also nice not to be hassled and not feel rushed to leave! All in a good night out!

We have been regular customers for this and the gants hill restaurant for around 20 years. We always prefer Punjabi cuisine to Bengali so as Carraway was authentic punjabi it had always suited us. The last visit on Thursday 11th April 2019 was the stuff from horror stories. The food was the most awful we have ever come across. We mentioned our concerns to the waiters and all they said was " do you want any more" the manager then asked if he could give us free dessert. This was not the point of our expression of dissatisfaction. We were sad that after many years of great tasting food the restaurant had almost fallen off the cliff and plunged into an abyss of cheap nasty tasteless rubbish. We paid in full and left with that downhearted feeling that we had lost what was once so much enjoyed

Don't about the negative reviews, make your own mind up we had a fantastic night. The food was good and the staff were extremely helpful and worked hard to make it a good night .

It was my first visit to Caraway Lounge Romford and I can certainly say I wasn't disaspointed. The food and ambiance was amazing.

Hired out the venue for my Aunt & Uncle’s 70th Birthday party & it was a really good night for all Food was delicious Drinks reasonably priced Good fun night with the live band too

Visited caraway lounge last week with some friends. Food was above average. Service was ok, the staff could be more friendly, polite and smiley. They had a dj that evening and assume a number of birthdays and Christmas parties going on. The decor is a little run down as is the furniture.

I held my 40th birthday bash here last night and i can honestly say it was great. The staff and food were great. The staff were extremely accommodating and worked hard. The restaurant was packed out and it was hard with the large group I had.

Had a lovely evening, great food and good service and having good access for wheelchairs made it all an enjoyable evening.

Tried the Caraway lounge and loved it. I would definitely go again, there was a good selection of food choices and our meal was authentic with good sized portions.

Went there on Friday evening with friends and loved it. They got very good selection of veg and non veg, a large wine list with reasonable prices. The food and service is fantastic and the atmosphere was so good that we stayed till late. We will coming more often and will recommend to other who loves proper Indian meal with elegant service.

The only criticism is a) little dark b) slightly slow service...but food was brilliant. there is parking from Hainault Road. We tried 7 starters and veg platter was really nice. We will visit again.

Went to the caraway lounge on Saturday, the exterior is quite drab and dull, inside however is lovely. We were shown to a table right at the back, had a nice view of the buses lol but that can't be helped. We had lamb korma, butter and garlic naan egg fried rice, all was absolutely delicious ! Had chocolate mousse for desert which tasted a little frozen . Our waitress told us she was new but she was very efficient and friendly, it was quite full with a nice atmosphere and a dj. Only real negative was I felt rather warm and the window could not be opened when I asked. Overall very nice and would definitely visit again.

Caraway Lounge has a delicious menu. It has all of the traditional Indian options alongside some very different additions, such as the Mongolian dishes, which I highly recommend!

We managed to get a booth for 5 as we ran late on a Saturday evening for dinner. Caraway happily seated us at around 11.30pm! There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant, with a 40th birthday party on the other side of the restaurant coupled with an in-house DJ. We had to make our starter and main order in one go (as kitchen was closing). Ordered 3 mixed grill platters which were excellently prepared and the Lamb, Chicken and Prawn was fantastically cooked for us! For mains we got a Chicken, Lamb and Prawn dish coupled with Garlic Naans. Again really tasty and generously served. Will definitely have to bring the family here as a lovely place to it's Ilford sister restaurant.

A local convenient Indian restaurant for us and I can't tell you how much I want it to be great. I've been going to the Carraway since it opened and the food continues to be excellent but the overall dinning experience isn't for me any more. If you like your meal with a DJ and shared with someone's large family gathering (25+) this is the place for you. Great for families and children running around. If you want something more adult and sophisticated walk pass. Ive also got a massive moan about the toilets.... not an acceptable standard. The ladies should all have toilet paper, be clean, fixed seats and working hand dryers, standard requirements! Think my next trip will be a takeaway because the food is excellent. Clearly acceptable for some because a very popular restaurant, not anymore us. Feeling very sad.

Overall I had a fabulous evening and would have given a higher rating. I think what you need to understand if you go to this restaurant its an event and will never be a quick meal. There were lots of Indian families with their children and this to me was a good sign that the food was authentic and we loved watching the children and families dance along to the latest Indian music. The food took a good while to come out. If your not in a rush and you enjoy a good dance I’d say give it a go. Our starters came out the same time as the main?!? If your looking for good service and prompt food maybe not. If your out for the evening and in no rush then you will enjoy. The food was tasty and the DJ and atmosphere was fantastic. The DJ played a good mix of music and definitely played for his audience rather than for himself. So lots of positives but also negatives. We complained and the manager gave us 10% off the bill and took off the service charge, so he responded well.

Came here with my friend on a Friday night. Was looking forward to a “Mums night out” and had always wanted to try this place. Regret that we did tbh. Firstly arrived to the restaurant very dark car park facility felt a bit nervous when parking and returning to car. On entrance to the actual restaurant nobody greeted us and it seemed a little empty for a Friday night (8pm) We saw a table which we assumed had the manager sat on it as he kept trying to get the attention of the one waiter by waving his arms about to probably see to us but he was busy collecting stuff from a table, the waiter walked past us into the kitchen then returned and basically was like “yes” No sorry to keep you or welcome to Caraway etc. Really had the manager any business sense on realising no staff were present to greet customers coming in He would have got up and dealt with us himself. Then the whole place was just too dark, i know its meant to create ambience etc but it would have been nice to see my friends face whilst talking to her.

Went to Caraway Lounge on Sunday 3rd December 2017 after booking on Tuesday 5 days before and spoke with the Manager Ricky who sad we would have a lovely table. Upon arrival we were very surprised by the noise going on, it turned out that a big private party was going on. We were shown to a table by the entrance which we were not very happy with as the front door was open and we were very cold, then children started running around playing games, we asked them to be careful as they were out of control. We asked for the Manger and when he appeared he was not Ricky, he said he had left the company. We were moved to another part which was okay but it was benches so you could not get close to the table. The food we ordered was fine, chicken Korahi, lamb, and sides, popadoms, no onions or pickles though. It would have been nice if staff were in uniform, as we could not tell them from the party goers. After eating we were not supplied with any wipes also once we asked for the bill we were not given the usual treat of a dish of sweets or some form of chocolate, we found this strange as we spent well, bottle of wine, beers. As I have said the main meal was really nice, but service and staff never again. Had we been told there was a party going on and that there would be at least 80 to 100 people there we would never have booked this place. The noise was unbearable for diners, obviously not for the party, as that is what parties are all about. It was also very cold where we were sat. Not good at all, a waste of a Sunday afternoon and cash. Nearly forgot, not one member of staff said goodbye either. Strange..

I booked this place for my husbands 30th birthday based on the service and food at the Gants Hill branch thinking it would be the same, how wrong I was, as a long time customer of that branch I was extremely disappointed booking the Romford branch. If you are thinking of eating here I strongly recommend you save your energy and book anywhere else.

Table booked for 8 o,clock ordered by 8.15 didn't get main meal until 9.50 by which time we were past bring hungry. Was given a free drink but we hardly ate any food as far too late. Won't go back food was good but service let them down

We visited this restaurant for the first time as we live in the local area. The service was diabolical having to wait over an hour and a half for our food and then found out that they had included service on the bill. Definitely wont be returning.

Enjoyed a great meal at the Caraway Lounge. The food was beautifully presented, flavours were exquisite. This is Indian food at its best. Great service and excellent ambience. I look forward to my next visit.

There were seven of us and on a Saturday nite it was busy which you would expect it to be. We ordered a variety of starters and main dishes and have to say we enjoyed all of them. The only minor issue we had was they messed up our first drinks order but was rectified quickly with no fuss. Staff were pleasant.

Another great evening at Caraway Lounge. The ambience improved each time we visit, very clean and tidy Restaurant and facilities. The attention could not be better, they have very good quality food and most importantly the service, excellent staff and the Manager. It is a great place to go for a dinner, the Manager and the team is very friendly,professional and fast. I cant get enough of this place and i will be keep bringing my friends and work colleagues. Once again many thanks for looking after us always great service and food.

I won a competition for a meal for 2 here on FB.. I messaged the restaurant to book a table and they got straight back to me with confirmation. We had never been to Caraway Lounge before and were looking forward to it. I was told that the prize was a 3 course meal each and a bottle of wine. As my hubby doesn't drink winevi asked the waitress if he could order lager( and I said we would pay for this)

We walked in on a busy night, Manager was more than happy to accommodate us without booking. Beautiful venue with attentive staff. A wonderful selection of dishes and the service was impeccable. Its wonderful just to watch the Manager and his service style he made us few of his special cocktails and we were blown away with his cocktails and the amount of knowledge. Food was delicious and the service was much better than any Five Star hotel i stayed, we were completely wrapped up in the whole experience, thank you for making us feel so special specially thanks to the Manager Riki and his team a real jewel in crown

Visited this restaurant on a recommendation and was not disappointed. There is a heavy influence on lamb dishes although they do some 'tradition English' dishes.

Really enjoyed lunch at this restaurant last week. We ate a selection of their curries. The food tasted great and was made with quality ingredients. Excellent Naan bread too.

We loved the service and food was delicious. Cocktails are a must try. Decor is very impressive. If you are in London, make sure you try their food.

This restaurant is local to us and has been a number of very bad rough pubs over the years. So when we noticed works starting to convert to an Indian restaurant we hoped for the best. Inside not to bad but the exterior is terrible very poor tradesmen where used on the restoration! The food was not much better sorry. The best bit was the unusual popadom starter main meal very disappointing!

I walked in here on Saturday evening as they had just opened. We had gone for a walk and wondered if they had any tables, as in the past we have always had difficulty getting a booking. The manager said they were fully booked but squeezed us in. He was so helpful. He accommodated 4 of us plus a baby! The food was FANTASTIC! Now i cook indian food and i was blown away by it. It tasted fresh and each dish tasted different and not just the same masala plonked in each dish like it normally is in other places. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was great, our waiter was very attentive. Great food!

Took my seven month old here tonight. Staff were amazing. Attentive, caring and helpful. He had a lovely dinner and as a parent alone with him, they helped an offered to clear up and bring drinks etc. Just a lovely experience. Will be bringing him back here much more as he grows up!

Food was good, service was poor, ambience was better than before. Very quite still attention from waiters lacked attention.An order made by a friend taken correctly by the waiter was sent with wrong ingredients.Order was made again but delayed the starters for that person.Food main course arrived with rice and Nan followed after a while.It's nice to have it all at the same time.

We went for our first visit a few weeks ago and thought it was excellent, food, decor, staff attention to detail so took somebody else with us tonight and it was a big disappointment from start to finish. The place wasn't busy but we felt like we were being a nuisance, nobody was attentive, plates were cold and when we asked for them to be hot they came back Luke warm. Definitely wouldn't rush back. What a shame when it is on our doorstep and we could walk there. Very disappointed

Restaurant is in a renovated pub. The refurbishment is good, however it still has the sports screen TVs. The food was excellent, lots of choice, recommended peanut chicken starter was wonderful. Weekday evening, not too busy...

You do realise these curry houses you order takeaways from are not indian dishes. These are bengal citizens passing off their food as indian food. Caraway is as close as you can get to real indian food. Not perfect but the best in romford.

Loved the decor to this restaurant and the food was spot on! The staff were very attentive but I feel that a couple of changes to this restaurant would benefit them massively and turn this place into a gold mine.

We have been to Caraway Gantshill many times and loved the food but service is an issue sometimes there. So we decided to try Caraway Lounge in Romford which is a part of Caraway Gantshill. Here the journey starts......

Couples group of 4 attended for dinner last night, as we regularly visit Caraway Gants Hill, thought of checking this restaurant, another branch of Caraway.

We came here on a recommendation with friends who have been before. We all really enjoyed the dishes we ordered. A couple of down sides were that we felt the meat content of the portion size of our main dishes were a little small considering the price and the starter we ordered never turned up. On a positive note we thought the choice of dishes were very varied and interesting and made a refreshing change from the normal traditional Indian restaurants . Overall very good food and we would return.

I have now visited this restaurant on two occasions I have found the food to be of a high quality and enjoyable. One down side is the mains portion size could do with being a wee bit bigger considering the price. Overall very good food.

Nice place, great selection with good service. Didn't know at the time but meat was halal this was the only disappointment, so we stuck to the vegetarian options which were awesome.

Went there once again with few friends and we all just loved it. One of the best Indian restaurants in London with amzing food and fantastic service. Very busy but they coped very well. Will be back soon

Caraway has been serving good food for many years in Gants Hill. When they opened their Romford location it was a chance for them to do something different, and they achieved that and more. The menu still has some of the classic dishes but many more adventurous ones (Garlic Mushrooms, Calamari, etc).

Heard loads about this place and decided to try the place. Food was excellent and service was fine but could have been a little better from the junior team members although the managers were very attentive!

Nice restaurant and good interior design. Staff helpful and polite. Good inhouse DJ and music. Food very tasty and reasonably priced.

Been here a couple of times now. Food is good but service gets worse every time ,was not even to busy Asked for something on the menu and told they don't do it. When we did get our food side orders where missing then got them turn up when we had finished our meal. To top it off when we got the bill they had changed us for food we never ordered and it took them 3 times to get the bill correct never going back.

I booked Caraway Lounge for my Husband's 50th Birthday as we had been here many times before and the food was great.

Best Indian food I've ever had. Generous portions too and we were able to have our left overs to take away. From 22:30 there was music and a dance floor. The music was a mix of popular chart toppers and Bollywood tunes. Was great to dance to.

Excellent tasting food presented in a very professional and modern manner. The food does have an authentic Indian taste, just like the food at their Ilford branch, however the place is much more modern in appearance and certainly not that crowded.

Newly opened and still trying to establish itself but a fantastic place for a night out. I have been to the Gants Hill one few times and thought let's try this as well because it is near to me. I am pleased to say that food is as good as the other and the service is even better. This branch offers less spicy food than the other one but perfect for us. Very authentic Indian in the area and looking forward to visit soon. We were looked after by the Manager who used to work in the other branch before and had a good knowledge about what they do here. Best to book a table to as it was very busy.Highly recommended...

Had a lovely family meal here, 8 of us on a Saturday night from 8 - 69 yrs old. Although very busy the staff were very attentive and polite. Food was excellent and so nice to not have an identical menu to all other Indian Restaurants. Our curry dishes were first class, generous portions and superb variation in flavour and texture. Excellent Keema Naan. Will definitely make this a regular stop when in Romford.

The food here is actually very good, what lets it down is the appalling service, we went as a group 0f 6 on a Saturday night, it was busy but by no means full up, on being seated we were give 2 menus to share as we were told there as a shortage ??? that should have raised alarm bells, after about 15 mins we were asked if we wanted any drinks, we ordered beers and a bottle of wine which was plonked on the table unopened by the waiter who then walked away, after getting someone to take our food order we waited 1 1/2 hours for it to be served, and that was after we had to chase it up, the waiter told us they had no hot dinner plates left so ours would be cold, on serving the food he had no idea what was in each dish without putting a spoon in to see if it was prawn, lamb or chicken, empty glasses were left on the table until you grabbed a waiter to clear them, the waiters mostly do not seem to know what they are supposed to be doing or particularly care.

Basically a perfect curry house. Lovely staff. Beer is very cold and stored correctly. Food is great. Recommend the Biryani

Visited family in Romford for the weekend and went to this restaurant Saturday night. Nice and simple review food and service fantastic. Not your normal Indian restaurant with great choice of not the normal Indian food.

After reading such good reviews I had to try this place and we weren't disappointed. The decor is beautiful and romantic, very well done. The food is not your normal Tikka Masala or Korma but proper tasty authentic Indian cuisine. After seeing a recommendation for the slow cooked lamb we tried that and it lush!!! Presentation very good and wine was excellent. Can't wait to go back and take my daughter!

Nice ambience, and a good feel when you walk in.

This is a new restaurant in Romford area which is truly Indian. Food is good and service is superb. The place can get very busy and you should book your table in advance. I have been here couple of times and would go back again too.

Service was excellent, food was tasty and the portions were generous compared to other restaurants I have been too. Great selection of drinks and parking was easy and free outside after 6:30 pm . Will definitely go again

This is my favourite Indian restaurant. I was a regular at the Gants Hill restaurant for years and I'm pleased to say the food here is just as good. A great authentic Indian restaurant unlike many of the 'British' Indians round Romford. Order the raan boti alishan (slow roast lamb) and you won't be disappointed !!!!

What a joy it is to find a gem like this within walking distance of home. They've done a great job with the decor... once inside, you completely forget that you're just off the A12. We've been twice in a couple of weeks and each time the food and service was flawless. The starter of tilapia wrapped in banana leaf is possibly the tastiest curried fish dish I've ever eaten in the UK... and I've had a few! We've been looking for a new regular haunt since the demise of Dosa & Dosa at Gant's Hill and we really hit the jackpot with this one. Looking forward to our next visit!

Place looks great and all the food I've had was really good but the staff let the place down. They don't look like they know what they're doing, like theyve just been asked to help out for the day.
