I am a regular customer here. Usually just coffee/tea after a beach walk, sometimes lunch with friends. The staff are unfailingly welcoming, smiling, absolutely lovely. The food is tasty..minestrone, yum...Atmosphere warm...not just the log fires. Elderly, families, kiddies, dogs...bar area, seated restaurant area, sofas...all just so comfortable and relaxed. ... ..and then, come the warmer weather, the ice cream parlour. Regretfully, not nut free. All the food served has allergy information. I haven't been to the evening sessions / special occasions, but have no doubt that they are joyous. A wee gem.

Lovely place with nice friendly atmosphere. Stopped off before our walk and had some food and a beer. Food was absolutely spot on.

Wonderful gem of a place. Right next to the beach and motorhome stopover. Very sweet place with lights and fab views over the river inlet to the sea. Cosy with a fire place. Staff were excellent. Such a friendly service. Attention to detail and costumer and nothing too much trouble. We had breakfast there - veggie breakfasts and it was sooo tasty. Loved the ‘veggie haggis’. Eggs - we had poached and scrabbled were delicious. Highly recommend.

Lovely atmosphere loved the fire and the views over Findhorn bay. Fish and chips (slightly overdone) were delicious there is no dessert menu and that's why it's a 4/5 for food. Great selection on the menu too. Service was friendly, though no coffee after dinner as staff shut it down early which was disappointing. Other than that great as had been before and wanted to come back. Dogs welcome and the doggy menu is a bonus.

Just had superb mussels as a stater and a delicious haddock and chips … local catch from Buckie .. with a superb selection of local whiskies and ales … highly recommended!

28th December 2024 Last meal of 2024.....packed restaurant which was good to see. Had fab chicken and rice soup and other half had gammon...finished with a strawberry doughnut and coffee. Great service....nice and warm!! 14th December 2024 Xmas dinner with friends....super food , great service, lovely atmosphere with the lights and tree. 4th October 2024 Been many times in the past year for either coffee, hot chocolate or pizza but had to comment on a gorgeous chicken caesar salad tonight. Great seat watching the sun go down and beautiful salad....and of course the fries !!! Good wine too. 30th june 2023 Visited in the evening first time since menu changed. Limited choice of dinner items , no dessert and restaurant closed at 9pm ....bit disappointed 27th june 2023. Just an update on the new bar service.....went in today for lunch and the bar ordering worked perfectly, staff were helpful and efficient, meal came quickly. Only disappointment was our muffins were a bit dry....and you can't see the cakes now as they are kept in the kitchen April 2023 I,ve reviewed this place poorly in the past due to some poor service but visited today for lunch and had a great experience, snappy friendly service, food was good....I had the chicken wrap and fries with salad which was great then a coffee and cake. The cakes have been pretty unadventurous in the past but are improving .....there are several new members of crew who are motivated and high energy, the back restaurant area has been refurbished and has some much more comfortable and stylish tables and chairs. We'll done Captains Table!

Really nice spot for lunch, found on accident while walking on the beach and couldn’t recommend enough. We got to take our dogs in (they even had a dog menu) and get warm by the fire while enjoying some lovely food! Friendly staff, good food and beautiful views, we will definitely be back!

Yet another satisfying visit. Fabulous setting with bay views. Cullen Skink the best around, chunky smoked haddock and creamy bliss! Paired with parmesan and truffle chips. Epic.

Called in today for lunch. Lovely views from inside towards forest, water and beach. A fabulous spot. Don't be put off by the outside, the decor, ambience and warmth was great inside. Our group of 5 had a variety of food, ranging from mussels to gammon to soup of the day, all served quickly and the staff were friendly and efficient. Very good description of potential allergens in food for those susceptible. My only criticism was that I felt the soup and mussels needed more bread served with the portion. I could have asked for more. Thoroughly recommended.

The people and place were amazing, but I've had better fish & chips. The location, views and ambiance were perfect.

What a change 2 years makes since i had my last visit to the captains table and this visit was a totally different affair. Went in for breakfast with a friend who wanted to try it i wasn't so sure after my last visit but I'm very glad i did give it another shot. staff were brilliant and attentive and the breakfast was one of the best I've had in a long time, nice big cup of coffee that was from a really nice bean and had heaps of flavour.

We dropped in here whilst staying locally. The food and service were great with very sensible pricing. Lovely views over the bay, plenty of parking to the rear for our campervan. Access the restaurant was a little bit tricky in our campervan, but this should not put you off. It is also dog friendly too!!

Banging fish and chips, beautiful views in the daytime. Dog friendly and amazing walk. Good selection of meal/snack/drinks/ice-cream. Bad cocktails but overall mega.

None of the vegan option online we're available in the store, only offering vegan veg pizza, brushetta or salad. Unsure about the ice cream parlour, however the restaurant did not offer any vegan options as stated on their menus online.

It is a lovely restaurant. They had high chairs and baby changing facility. Dogs are allowed. Lovely views. The food was excellent.

We had two meals here & the wife ate Scampi, fries, peas & huge onion rings, twice. I had the battered haddock, fries, tartar sauce & peas the next night Cullen Skink. Again onion rings. Food was well cooked & very very tasty. The draught Guinness was the best I've had outside of Kilkenny in Ireland. Would definitely recommend & eat there again. Staff were very pleasant & helpful.

We ate here earlier this week. We boy had the fish and chips. The fish was nicely cooked but it was just fish and chips. No salad no peas. And the portions were minute. If someone had told me that they were children's portions I would have believed them. Not going again!

First off we'll talk about the venue and the atmosphere... Gorgeous authentic seaside bar and restaurant. Outside seating is available as well as seaside view tables and internal tables, with a mix of comfortable seating and sofa chairs. Great selection of alcohol and soft drinks, as of now all food is ordered at the bar with your table number and brought to you by wonderful servers who are warm, friendly and efficient. Now to the food which I think maybe the best experience I've had so far in Scotland. Everybody enjoyed everything we ordered at the table, and the care they place for allergies is unbeatable. If you have allergies know that you can eat here and feel free to order lots from the menu, as it is all clearly presented on the menu. My favourite dish was the muscles with an addition of truffle parmesan chips. Not only is this place worth a visit, it's worth a second and third! Well done to all. Cheers for a lovely few meals 😊

Just sitting here with two refreshing drinks. Very nice restaurant with great seats on the Steeg. Parking for £1 in the Beach Parking and then along the beach to get here. Absolutely great. Huge portions of fish & chips🫶

This happy place is fantastic even on a dull day

This was a great find. We were checking out the area of Lossiemouth and Findhorn having never been before. When we arrived in Findhorn we had no idea what was there or where to eat, then we came across the captains table. It was 5.00pm on a Wednesday, so quite quiet. We found a seat by the window overlooking the beach and ordered Fish & Chips. The food was delicious I would highly recommend visiting.

This spot is great for a chilled drink or meal, the staff are extremely helpful and the views just help with relaxing. The food is not what you would expect it’s not just burgers and pizza, it’s pasta’s, mussels, nachos and so much more. Certain nights are themed food nights and again some nights there is live entertainment I for one will definitely be back. 👍🏼

What a top place to have a drink and eat, the views as well were amazing. Everything was just so chilled, we’ll definitely be back. Keep up the good work.

Excellent service from great friendly staff. Breakfast was delivered promptly and the small cooked breakfast i had was delicious....the scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. The view over the bay just adds to the perfect ambience in the place, and will be back soon with friends for dinner.

Nice restaurant with a view of the small harbor. The menu is small but nice and all the dishes tasted excellent.

Arrived with friends in two batches. We were at the bar 13minutes before the advertised end of breakfast. Once we finally got to the bar and placed our order we were told that they had decided to stop serving breakfast early. We then enquired if we could order lunch. But was told no not until 1pm (25 minutes from now). It was obvious that we were with oir friends. As we had club tops on. We had no choice but to go to a lovey cafe around the corner for food and drink. The main issue was the rudeness of the staff. I have been to the Captain's table a few times in the past. This will however the the last.

On visiting Findhorn we stumbled over The Captain's Table and as we were needing fed we ventured in... The theme is very much an establishment aimed at good food, drink and refreshment for the weary traveller. Situated at the waterfront by the marina, with extra tables outside and your dog is also welcome. We decided on Cullen Skink followed by Ice cream and was not disappointed. Great place, friendly staff and would like to pass by again in the future.

I was tourist from Asia when I patronized The Captain's Table for dinner with my family. We met and fell in love with Cullen Skink! The mussels were insanely fresh and big in portion enough to fully satisfy our urge to kept reaching into the pot for next shell. It was the best meal we had in that week, with the serene view for dinner, it is just so very memorable!

What a lovely place. Nice outdoor seating with amazing views. Was very windy so we went inside and got a table in the bar area. Very welcoming. Great it is dog friendly. We had the most amazing Cullen skink soup. It was delicious. We enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend.

Have been coming here for years. Boss Lady Cat has always looked after so well. Her staff are friendly. Have to try and limit ourselves on how many times we go so we don't pile on the pounds.

From the outside it doesn't look anything special but the inside decor is nice. We canoed over and had some bacon rolls which had lovely thick bacon in it, they were delicious! It looks like they get entertainment in for evenings which could be fun.

It is nice place to eat especially outside when it is sunny weather with the view on the water. Service and atmosphere is nice but the burgers we ordered was not great i love burger but this was not our taste especially the burger sauce but was nice serve on the plate and the price was OK 15 pounds for burger with chips and salad

Lovely venue. Great Food. Ideal ice-cream bar next door. You don't need to order a kg of mussels for yourself. That's a lot of mussels. Just get a .5kg and a side.

This was the perfect spot to get food at the bay. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The food, service and atmosphere were unmatched! (P.S. if they have buffalo chicken loaded fries on the menu - get it!

Waited 50 minutes for food for me and my children. No compensation was offered. If they had informed me I’d be waiting for nearly an hour I wouldn’t have bothered.

Only visited for a drink but menu was good and had lots of choice.

Really nice place to eat, food is good and the choice was nice and varied to suit all tastes. Service was quick, with a smile and very polite. Only thing I might suggest is that although they allow dogs inside it would be better if there was a couple of dedicated tables for dogs owners. I overheard a couple of ladies thinking about ordering food put off (or frightened I think) of a couple of very large dogs already inside.

After five years my review remains the same. Food tastes good, service is good. Always getting harassed by seagulls, so you can't really enjoy the food..

Really nice lunchtime stop at the Findhorn boatyard. Upgraded from the all-day brekkie cafe I visited 10 years ago. Nice family section with a bar to the side if you want some peace in an adult only zone. Staff are attentive and helpful. The food is fresh and tasty. We were all over the burgers and pizza. Good portions. Needed a quick walk round the point before coming back for dessert waffles and ice cream. It's a really nice place to watch boats come into and out of the bay. Fantasticly placed for a stop before or after hitting the beach. Kids menu. Car park on site however its got more craters than the moon (Take care).

We ate very well here. There was no service. We had to order and pay for food and drink at the counter. We noticed the drinking immediately. The meal was called out using a number. Everything very well organized. Gladly again.

A great place, with an incredible site & food. A big thanks to Victoria & the girls for fabulous service with smiles. We'll be back for more of the same. Oh yeah, don't miss the Fish & Chips, a pure delight!

Lovely for a restful drink in the open.Missed getting an ice cream!

On holiday for a few days, passed the restaurant a few times and thought it looked good. What a disappointment. On entering the restaurant you pick up a menu from a box on a table which asks you to find a table then order at the bar. Personally I think that’s fine in a weatherspoons but not in restaurant in a popular tourist resort. We got a table at the window with a lovely view but had to remove food left on one of the chairs from the previous diners. Went to the bar to order food and drinks and pay upfront. Another bug bear of mine. My partners food arrived a few minutes before mine after sitting on the hot plate for a few minutes. He had a very underwhelming Catalan burger with chorizo. I had the goats cheese and caramelised onion pizza. It sounded great on the menu but sadly didn’t live up to the description. The dough was so dry that I couldn’t eat about a third of the pizza and the goats cheese was distinctly lacking. We had a glass of wine and a beer during dinner and weren’t once asked if we’d like another round, if our meals were ok and if we’d like the dessert menu. All very odd for a restaurant that had a handful of customers on a quiet Sunday evening and staff were certainly not rushed off their feet. What a wasted opportunity to be a great restaurant that we would have return to during our stay here.

Great breakfast for us and the dog!

Excellent staff. The best haddock and chips that I have had in ages. And the ales were superb. A fellow diner fancied an Irish coffee and was recommended an Irish hot chocolate instead. She was impressed. Update 25/06/2024: Great fish and chips still.

Great place to eat in findhorn view amazing food great staff excellent

Really very good food. Worth a visit if you are in Findhorn. The outside looks a little scruffy and not looked after but don't let that put you off. Inside is nice and the food is excellent and not super expensive.

Unfortunately, a quarter of an hour before closing time, as soon as we had finished our meal, we were informed several times that they were closing soon and the bill was placed on our table even though we still had a full glass and ate (including the starter). . 4 minutes before closing time we were asked to pay the bill at the bar. We also ordered ketchup, which was only brought when we asked again. The food was "o.k." ... Unfortunately, it's a shame in such a great place that the money-making guest doesn't even get time to drink the drink he paid for in peace and end the stay comfortably. Unfortunately, the opening times were not written anywhere... We don't know the Scottish customs yet as we are here for the first time. However, this experience left us quite disappointed.

In town for a bit. Stumbled across the captains table. Twas’ love at first sight. Everything and everyone is amazing. All very consistent. Deliciousness on another level. I would highly recommend!!

Hats off to Victoria, the manager at the Captain's Table in Findhorn! My wife tripped outside the restaurant yesterday evening and (as it turned out) broke a rib. Staff and members of the public came rushing to help, but my wife was in a great deal of pain, so Victoria took us all the way to A&E in Elgin! She refused to accept any cash for doing so. Incredibly kind, Victoria, thank you! P.S. The meal was incredible, fabulous tempura veg, spaghetti carbonara and Moroccan halloumi, squash and hummus burger. Fabulous range of draft beers too, including from the nearby Black Isle Brewery. And a fab view over the marina and estuary! We liked it so much, we came back for breakfast - great flat white coffees and tasty breakfast.

Myself and 3 friends went to this amazing place on Wednesday. I had macaroni and cheese, in my humble but correct opinion it was the best I've ever had, and I have it a lot. I can't remember what my friends had as the day was about me, as it usually always is.😄 No, I do remember and everyone was absolutely delighted both with the food and the standard of service. The staff at the captains table are very friendly and polite. We love the place, it looks great and has a beautiful view..keep up the good work guys, we will be back.👏👏👏

Updated May 3024: The place has gad a make over since our last visit. Foid and staff are still great. Great place for a late breakfast and Ice Cream on a sunny Monday morning. Great location with views across the harbour. Next door to the Activity Centre and Water Taxi Good selection of food and friendly service. They also run a gift shop next door

We had attentive, friendly and fast service. You can get your own drinks at the bar. Nice seating and on some weekends there is live music. Food was tasty and came quickly. There were also alternative milk offers or vegan dishes.

Croquettes were amazing and a bargain. Fish and chips were a little heavy on the battery. But delicious all the same.
