Captains Kitchen in Glasgow City

1st time here ,pepperoni pizza and chips top class- cant wait to try other things from menu

Usually love this place but waited an hour an 15 mins (understandable they can be busy) but the fish and chips were FREEZING my tomato sauce was hotter than the food and the special fish was soggy as it must have been sitting in the bag for ages. Also the bags r usually stapled shut, 1 staple was removed (u could see the holes) and the other was open still half in the bag which makes me feel like the driver could have opened my bag! The fish was utter soggy and not 1 bit of cripyness from a special fish….. Terrible experience and a fish supper right in the bin.

Exelant. I got scampi supper. My dad got 2 fish. Well worth the extra couple of quid. Def be back

Best chippy in Scotland, my partner and I are in most weeks from Coatbridge and never have had a bad supper. Staff even know our order now before we say it, all staff super friendly and attentive. Long may it continue, from 2 sausage suppers with cheese and curry 😋.

Fish supper was probably the best I’ve ever had. Definitely up there anyway, and I’m a chef of 15 years. Chips were perfectly cooked, fish was fresh and batter was light and crispy. When you consider how busy they are it’s amazing that their standards remain so high. Good job chef.

Cheese burger was full off grease and splared musserd all over it pluss burgers where chewi plus chips were rotten never be back again spent 20 pound And went in the bin not happy 😡😡🤢

After purchasing 2 single fish and a portion of chips at a cost of £15 +.), we were disgusted with the quality/quantity if our meal. The amount of batter made the fish look huge but actual amount fish was minimal. Take it apart and there was barely enough white fish for a child sized portion. Inside the batter was mostly fresh air. We have been customers for many years - but this will be our last! And I did take a photo of the quantities but can't post the picture here. !

Ordered a few times now for the family over couple months we have no complaints only chippy I will eat out off in Glasgow

Food was hot and crispy not soggy like you’d expect having it delivered. Pizza was amazing and considering it’s essentially a chippy, it was better than “pizza shops” if I’m in the area again (I travel for work) will deffo order again!

Had a few take aways now, no complaints at all, pizza, mac and cheese and fish all spot on!!

Panko fish was delicious, so were the scampi tails.

I really enjoyed my food an the lad at the counter who served me was really nice and suggested the lasagna to me and i really enjoyed it.

Good food. Would recommend it to locals and people who are visiting. From the English guy with long hair dressed in black.

Sorry first time here, Won't be back..I only had strange chips & flavourless curry sauce..My husband had pizza & chips..He said the pizza was OK, Nothing special.

The fish from here was putrid, tried to explain to the "fish fryer" their words, the person that they put on the phone but just got an earful of abuse saying it's not their fault they can't get fish fresh at this time of year and have to use frozen.The smell from that fish was horrendous, stunk my car and house out, I actually had to take it out of the house,never again.Used to love the haggis from here and spent a lot of money over the years but you guys have just lost another customer and seeing how quiet the shop was I think they need all you can get.Cheeky guy on the phone offered me my money back but I didn't want that, just phoned to tell them how bad it was, nothing else. --------------EDIT-------------- Editing this as the owner has decided to change his reply completely after two months this only proves just how dishonest these guys are. Why not stick by your original response instead of changing it two months down the line.The guy on the phone was rude I can assure you,please don't try and patronise people.I told you it wasn't about the money otherwise I would have came back in for a refund, I genuinely thought I was helping being a loyal customer by telling him the fish might be off....you have just proved you don't care about your customers,well done fella.

I'm always nervous trying a new chippy because it's so hit or miss and your money's on the line... I'm very glad I tried here tonight! All food was good quality, cooked perfectly and although our hands were a bit greasy the food absolutely did not taste like it was. Would recommend 🥰

Ordered special fish n chips for the first time according to 4.5 star rating given .. have to say best fish n chips I've had in 7weeks of being in Glasgow .. fresh, hot and big serve. Highly recommend Captains Kitchen

Sausages are like rubber, gravy is like water chips were undercooked and rank never again honestly 3 sausage supper right in the bin because the whole household thought they were disgusting.

I order from here every week and felt its time to share why I am a regular customer. The food is always outstanding, fresh and tasty. Not once have I ever had anything to moan about from this place. One of my favourites from the menu is milanese chicken burger and the individual munchies boxes. Pasta and pizzas are amazing too, the food is just outstanding, great customer service, always fast aswell. Best place in Tollcross in my opinion 👌

Quite annoyed that I got there for 10 pm on a Sunday and it's says on Google on their home page they close at 10:30 but I Got turned away as they weren't doing orders. Just finish an 8 hour shift so was hoping to be served as they're usually a 10/10 experience just overall annoyed at their service

Ordered 2 Sunday roasts delivery was fast the amount of food you get for the money is amazing &come in great big containers,tasted absolutely amazing ,defo be a regular here on a Sunday from now on

Been coming here for years, food is always great, but portion size is decreasing have noticed this for a while, prices go up food size goes down

Ordered something off this for the first time yesterday and I have to say everything was perfect! Had a black pudding supper, best BP I’ve tasted will definitely be ordering again at some point!!!

I also give him 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We got 3 Special Fish Suppers tonight and all 3 of us were very disappointed. We were recommended to try Captains Kitchen but it was one of the worse fish suppers we have tried. One was very dark in colour and the other 2 were very pale in colour. The chips have been one of the worst I've had. The food did not stay hot for long. After 2-3 mouth fulls it was cold. No taste to the fish. Both fish and chips taste of cooking oil. Very over priced for the quality of the food. I spent over £40 and was expecting great food. I won't be getting anything from them again. I'm not sure if they had a off day today. Going by the comments on their website a lot of people rate them very highly. Sorry I had to post this.

As a regular customer I find Captains Kitchen a cut above your average Chippy, in terms of its products and the helpfulness of the staff. It offers not only a wide selection of traditional Chippy favourites but an extensive menu of Italian pizza and pasta dishes, which are second to none in terms of authenticity. Definitely worth ‘Cinquo’ stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Fantastic Sunday Roast, delivered to my door, it was delicious.

Burger meals great. Kids pizza meal not so much. Its fried,which is fine but hardly any cheese and no tomato sauce. Called and they sent out another but look exactly same...the pic on website looks nothing like it...lol see the difference...

I have tried the fish suppers, etc. out here before and always nice and fresh. I got the cheese burger meal tonight and thought it would be just another fast food bland frozen burger. This is far from it; everything is so fresh, ingredients and a real store made burger, not some frozen pre-made guff get from other places. I will defo be back for this and other things on menu 👌 great deal with 2 burgers and chips for £12

Edit* was asked to pm them (which I already had twice via their website) so this time I emailed them to have my number removed. No response and still receiving these messages. I'd like to know how long you store customers details for? And why I haven't had a response to removing my number? Phoned to place an order to collect, they have kept my phone number without my permission and send continuous irritating promotion texts which you cannot block the contact and to opt out of receiving texts you are charged. Absolute joke. Shouldn't be saving customers details never mind bombarding them with messages. I have twice contacted the shop via their website with no reply and have been put off shopping here again. Won't be back.

Love this place. Fish and chips great, pastas great, service great, friendliness of staff and delivery drivers great. Lost a star because pizza toppings are conspicuous by their absence. Need to put on more toppings guys - pretty poor show on this. Fix this and you'll be a perfect 5 star 🌟

Got the chicken millinase for my gran & myself chips & kids chicken goujons and chips. My gran isnt keane on going out because of the pandemic, she has a favourite italian which she misses. She dosent use takeaways. She was over the moon and delighted with her meal. Definitely 5 star food. Very fresh!!!! Fast delivery

Had 2 fish suppers & my friend got a single fish was charged £20 for this chips were not hand cut but frozen you could tell from the shape of them one piece of fish for the suppers anywhere else its 2 , wont be back overpriced really disappointed

im a regular sit in customer here on my 7 working nights, i have tried many of their meals but the best ones i would recommend are the butterfly chicken, chicken bolognese, fish n chips and the chicken strips, they also do many pasta dishes and pizzas, but if you like a sunday roast then their sunday roast dinners are tremendous value for money, i cant recommend the place highly enough and the staff are a friendly decent bunch.

One of the best Chippies I've ever been to!! Great food, great service, great environment. Top class, proper chippy!!!
