I've been here several times. The food is amazing and the place is cozy and Luigi, the manager, is a lovely italian man. Totally recommend

I visit this restaurant every time I come to London. The food is a healthy selection and home cooked, the price is very reasonable, and things have been this way for 30 years. Corelli's is a wonderful institution.

As you can see by the look of the place it's a simple old fashioned Italian cafe , which has its charm! So put it to the test as just moved to the area.. The latte machiato was actually really good (would go back for that) and the pasta dish with a vegetable was not bad at all/ for the price . Could do with some Italian music, new cutlery and a good airing... but a part from that it defintely has its charm!!

This place is nothing fancy and appears as a very humble Italian Rosticceria, with a desperate need of revamp. Although you can order a la carte, the idea is to create your own dish, assembling the food displayed at the counter which, I assume, changes frequently, according to availability of the day. The presentation is really basic, and all the food is re-heated via microwave. However, the staff is very nice, portions extremely generous, and, most important, the food is really homemade and super tasty. It really looks like you are eating at your grandmother’s place on a Sunday lunch! We finished our meal full and satisfied, paying an affordable bill. Surely there are better Italian restaurants in the area, but I am not sure you can find anything more authentic that Captain Corelli.

Not sure why this cafe gets such good reviews. It’s overpriced and there was a small selection of meals to choose from. Food is heated up in the microwave before serving. Would recommend giving it a miss.

We have eaten, parmigiana and meatball with tomatoe sauce, fantastic food. These dishes are like my mother cooked them. Rally recommended if you want to taste homemade italian food.

Very welcoming staff, luncheon buffet with most dishes microwaved once you have chosen, reasonable house wine. Somewhat ramshackle interior, taps don't work in gents loo. Useful if you are in the area.

Looking for somewhere for a snack by Battersea park and stumbled across this real find. We ended up having huge lunch- everything freshly made and delicious with very generous portions. Authentic Italian food.

Nous avons découvert ce restaurant par hasard après une longue journée de marche. Quelle surprise ! Lasagnes végétariennes accompagnées de légumes verts au choix (j'ai pris les haricots verts plats et des brocolis), suivis de son délicieux tiramisu, puis d'un garlic bread (ne cherchez pas de logique dans ce choixn, c'était de la pure gourmandise), et enfin d'une coupe de glaces 4 parfums offerte par la maison ! Le tout étant fait maison et frais. Mention particulière à la pâte (je n'ose imaginer leurs pizzas !) qui est absolument parfaite. Le restaurant ne payait pas de mine au départ, jusqu'à ce qu'on se rende compte qu'il faut le voir comme quand on met les pieds sous la table chez les grands-parents italiens (et c'est franchement ça). Devant le comptoir, vous avez les anciens qui jouent aux cartes et qui vous saluent. Cela rappelle de bons souvenirs en Italie. Nous apprendrons ensuite que l'établissement a fêté ses 21 bougies ! En somme, un lieu que je recommande vivement. Pour vous dire, nous souhaitons y retourner avant notre retour en France pour goûter aux pizzas ;-)

Fabuloso menú hecho para 12 de nosotros para comer después de trabajar un largo turno en el Chelsea RHS Flower show. Brusetta, mozzarella y tomate, 2 porciones de pasta, ñoquis y pizza por 20 por cabeza. Increíble. Simplemente llamé a ellos a las 9: 15 pm para decir que nuestro restaurante nos ha decepcionado y que han logrado acomodarnos para que nos alimentemos nuevamente con un menú similar. Sin duda volveremos el próximo año durante la semana del Chelsea. Saludos desde el helado de Purbeck Massive.

I love this place, you can come and sit by yourself and take in all sorts of characters - all good. What I love about this place is the food. Consistently good, with a homemade feel, breakfast, lunch and dinner. You also have the option to take out when you're in a rush or if you want to eat later.

This places used to be good. Not visited in a while and it’s gone down hill rapidly. Tables aren’t clean, cutlery given to me was dirty. Won’t be returning in a hurry which is a shame.

I hadn't been out for a long time but the staff make you feel like family. I had seafood pasta which was perfectly cooked. Then followed with a divine tiramisu the food and atmosphere makes you forget the decor

Very friendly bunch and great pizza. Great for a relaxed dinner. The deli counter is a good option as well, good veggies, meat-fish selections and a boss Melizana to take away. Tiramisu is also very good!

This restaurant is very authentic Italian. Be warned it is not fancy, it is dated, but it makes you feel as if you are eating in a restaurant in the back street of Naples. The food is very good and extremely reasonably priced especially for London! Italian owned and very friendly. Go with an open mind.

Desde el exterior, es posible que tenga que cerrar los ojos un poco; la decoración está gastada 1955 sentir. Ser viejo y pasado de fotos con estrellas de cine. Realmente puedes sentir que estás en algunos trattoria mugriento en Italia. Y olvidar algunos decoración restaurante post, la comida es auténtica y la pizzzas son deliciosos, el mejor que he comido en el centro de Londres. Las guarniciones y pasta están bien hechas, y el precio es increíblemente razonable y no robo, Londres.

Me encontré con este lugar por accidente, y es justo decir que no me decepcionó. Tiene una encantadora sensación, y los platos tienen un auténtico sabor italiano. Teníamos una pizza y pasta, ambos bien preparado. Cuando esté en la zona, sin duda pop por nuevo, el hogar - tiramisú casero es la pena el viaje de vuelta solo. Puedes conseguir esta para llevar demasiado, y en una caja de 3 libras para una porción muy generosa no te puedes equivocar. Era tan buena que nos pidió otro para ir!

Living just one block away i visit Captain Corelli many times and i never leave dissapointed. All food is extremely fresh,service always here to help u and atmosphere is like u entered Siccily:) Must visit!

Following the advice of Trip Advisor we ventured to this restaurant. The front and interior are in need of a good face lift... SURPRISE ...👌the food is spectacular... the best meatballs I have ever eaten. The pasta w/seafood amazing.

Stopped off for a late lunch after a very long morning. It was a first time visit and must say I was impressed with my meal. They didn't have a menu it was just a matter of picking what I wanted from the selection on offer. I went for a nice salmon pasta dish which was very tasty and hit the spot, the portion sizes were perfect.I would recommend this place for a quick bite, just note they do not accept cards its cash only. We almost stumbled across Captain Corelli, hungry and in need of a good value meal. The service was friendly and generous. The food delicious, hearty and honest - the caprese salad filled with flavoursome tomato, soft mozzarella and freshly picked basil (perhaps from that growing in the window?). The recommended pappardelle ragu with more porcini than meat was delicious - a little more pasta than I could handle, but the sauce was exceptional and I was glad I went with the recommendation. My son enjoyed a thin crust pizza which seemed to hit the spot, and all in all, we enjoyed the meal immensely. Wouldn't let the rustic looks deter you, it's a signal that the food is honest and tasty.

We had just gotten to our battersea airbnb and walked out to find some food. Most of what we saw were take-out places. What a pleasant surprise to find this warm, welcoming Italian restaurant/prepared food take out owned and run by Italians. My husband and I had a freshly baked calzone and pasta with eggplant plus a large plate of perfectly steamed, lightly dressed broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans. With two beers and water, and tip, 27£. Great find.

We came here for the pizza. I am picky on pizza as a native NYer but a coworker recommended this place so my husband and I met friends for dinner here Saturday night. I got the house white wine (pretty good actually!) and the veg pizza. I was impressed by how many veggies were actually on the pizza! Aubergine, courgette, artichoke, etc. The dough was so wonderfully overstuffed I couldn't lift a slice on its own. Win! As for the pizza overall, it was very good with the dough having a good chew and a decent amount of sauce. My husband got the quattro staggione: pepperoni, mushrooms, ham, tomato and mozzarella. He liked the dough as well but he wished there was more sauce. The owner was pretty attentive, offering free shots of an Italian liqueur. My husband split the cannoli with a friend but he thought it was only OK. Then again he's not a big fan of cannolis in general.

I'll be going back very soon. The food is lively. I was on my way back From the gym I was so tired so I went in on my own. The staff are very friendly made me feel welcome.

Went with friends to celebrate one of us being awarded a prize as "Most Caring and Kind" member of staff (a NHS doctor at the Maudsley Hospital) in 2016.Staff were busy as the usual waitress was on holiday and the restaurant noisy with drunk and boisterous Americans. Despite that our waiter was very attentive, excellent food and delicious wine. Meal nicely rounded off with a yummy apple pie a vanilla ice cream. They also make (on the premises) other tasty flavours including mint choc chip and rum and raisin.Prices very modest. Decor authentic and lets to food do the talking.You won't be disappointed.

I have to admit that we were quite concerned when we first look both outside and inside the restaurant. The appearance, the general status and the apparent non cleanliness of the place are not very inviting. But we decided to give it a try.This is not a fancy restaurant, with fancy menu, location or staff. This is a basic place and it is all about food, that is the main reason why you go in a restaurant. And the food is amazing, a real taste of Italy.An authentic Italian restaurant, like many of those small family run ones that you can find in the southern part of Italy, with the same atmosphere, same passion for personal rapports from the staff and food quality.We were a party of two and had a large appetizer to share, carbonara pasta, margherita pizza (the best ever tried in London, absolutely better than all the other well known pseudo Italian restaurants), a bottle of wine and a sambuca. Total bill around £50. Very good value for money.Go there for the food and focus on the fun side of the apparent rudeness and poor status of the place. This is Italy, with all its pros and cons.

Real Italian run by real Italians. Always a bonus instead of our high streets being ambushed by branded Italians serving coffee and pasta. This one is much more authentic. Really enjoyed it and recommend.

From the outside, it does not look like much. That's fine by me as it keeps people away, but you feel like you've arrived in Italy once you're in. Along way from grand, but love that they have don't offer you a choice of wine, just red or white. Great selection of home cooked dishes, but seldom get there as almost always fail to resist the pizza.

We enjoyed the warmest of welcomes from all the staff, along with excellent home cooking in the best traditions of a rustic Italian kitchen.

My husband spotted this place, as it was near to the hotel for our 2 night trip. Very unpretentious in appearance, and looks like a take-away pizzeria (which it is of course) but also a hidden gem of real honest to goodness delicious Italian food.We had a tomato / mozzarella starter which was served on a large plate...and a complimentary bread, which was a 'light as a feather' pizza base with sauce and fresh basil...heavenly!Main courses were ragu and pasta norma...both absolutely delicious! very generous portions, however the waitress was happy to give us doggy bags.The staff were so friendly and hospitable...a really great evening!

Oh my goodness! I had just finished a race and met my wife and son for a meal. We didn't know where to go, and had the fortune of finding this absolute gem! We were very quickly welcomed, and service was great. The food was spectacularly high-quality and the portions huge. Staff were energetically moving around the restaurant doing a brilliant job. To top it all off, this place is amazing value for money. A PROPER Italian place! I can't recommend it enough! Come and visit!

Small,family run Italian restaurant on Battersea High Street. Basic facilities. Extensive menu & good prices. A bottle of house red was £14 & very agreeable. Prebooked our visit as a party of 14. Some meals excellent (saltimbocca), some so-so (lasagna) and 2 orders were wrong pizza instead of pasta dishes. Staff were friendly but seemed a little flustered.

Understated to look at, but warm, welcoming, genuine Italian hospitality. Shared a humungous antipasti starter delicious, pasta for mains, and heavenly tiramisu with a sumptuous Calabrian house red. We were offered complimentary coffee and digestif - an unexpected treat in London. We'll be back, thanks again x

We had some takeaway pizzas one was more delicious than the other: margarita, four cheeses, four seasons plus some pasta with meat balls and broccolis. All good! Nice toppings and good flavoured tomatoes. The selection of starters that we eat while waiting for the pizzas were equally nice. I like to go back to seat at the restaurant next time!

We live locally but had never ventured in until a neighbour recommended this very unassuming local Italian. It is delightfully old fashioned with faded photos of Italy on the walls, no modern kitsch here! But the main thing about this place is the food and the welcome, a real slice of Italy. The food is very well prepared unpretentious and properly authentic....plus extremely good value! We had a special and the children had the tagliatelle both of which were freshly prepared and excellent. The antipasti was delicious. The chef kindly brought us some garlic bread fresh from the pizza oven that was out of this world and as we left treated us to his special chocolate cake desert, also delicious.I preferred my evening here to all of the fancier dining experiences I've had in London in 2016. This is a properly authentic slice of Italy with food and service from the heart, a wonderful local find! We'll be back!

A nice place, delicious food, and the chef a great person, I recommend visiting with friends or family, attention is always friendly.

Went here with a group of us with young kids for lunch. They could not have made us more welcome, true Italian love for family and made a real fuss of the kids. They made us fresh pasta and pizza for the kids which they devoured. The adults all had different pizza slices and lovely salad. The kids had ice cream and we had cheese cake each. I was lucky enough to have the last home made tiramisu, divine, best I have had for a long time. Coffees to finish were top notch as well. A beautiful two course feast, for 8 people including two bottles of house wine for £87, you cannot get better in London.

An absolute firm local favourite. Amazing atmosphere with excellent Italian food during the day and the best pizza around by night. Just want you want for a neighbourhood restaurant - wonderful staff, gorgeous pasta and did I mention the pizza? Walking in is like getting a big hug.

Chef was super friendly let me in at 6 :20 am to get a early espresso. This is a neighborhood spot off the beaten path.

We were in the area to visit Battersea Cats and Dogs Home and because we were early and a bit peckish we were looking for a café in the area for some breakfast. We saw one across the road but being picky I suggested to walk for a bit to have more options, even though quite a few places were shut. As they say persistence pays off and after walking for 10 minutes we were nearly about to go back to go to the first one , when we came across this place. It looked very seventies and my fiancée liked it. I had no intention of having a savoury dish but when I looked at the pizzas and they looked yummy. This particular kind of pizza is baked in a large tray and served in rectangular slices. I had the one with peppers and salami and it was absolutely divine. I could have done with less tomato (personal taste) but apart from the flavoursome toppings what I liked most was the dough, perfectly raised with air bubbles in it. It was so good that I had another slice. My fiancée had a very good cappuccino and one can always tell by the creamy (not watery) rim left around the cup.The pecan pastry was good but very likely from the previous day. My espresso was top notch, infact I didn’t need sugar. All this plus a 500ml San Benedetto sparkling water which I prefer to San Pellegrino (because it’s less gassy) came to a tenner. One or two things in the display cabinet appeared not to be at their freshest and I didn’t see a menu either (not that it bothered me) although they seemed to have one in the evening and if I am in the area again I wouldn’t mind at all coming here for a meal. Afterwards I checked TA and it has an average of 4 and half and that is what I am going to rate them although you will read 4 above. I am a bit surprised that the last review about this place on TA goes back to November 2014

This is the place to come if you want anything from an Espresso to an full dinner! Run by true Italians who know how to serve food and drinks. The pasta and mean dishes are excellent and the cappuccino is one of the best I have had in London! I am hoping to go back soon to try the new Pizzeria....

I discovered Captain Corelli thanks to my friend few years ago. During my first visit I had veg panini and I was absolutely delighted. Many paninis, pizzas and pastas later, I still go there at least once a month and always enjoy home made food, chats with friendly staff as well as retro interior.

Really great food, great value, lovely staff and lively Italian spirit. I visited with a group of adults and children. All of us really enjoyed the experience. Top fun in a little bit of Italy.

.. or more correctly, Capitan Corelli. This is my favourite cafe in all of London because it is so unique. The decor is locked in the 70's like a time warp, and the cafe is run by Mr Corelli and his Italian staff. Think Bar Italia but without the mad prices. It reminds me of Satriale's from The Sopranos where you can close your eyes and imagine you are in Italy or New Jersey, Italian is spoken as the first language. Coming here can be as much an experience as a culinary delight and the best value Italian food for miles. Let's hope Capitan Corelli never changes, and reminds the best kept secret in Battersea. Come at lunch for a freshly cooked bargain, or off peak for an espresso made by Italians for Italians. I admit I like this place as you can tell.

There are loads of Italian restaurants in the area, and I've tried pretty much all of them...this is by far the best. Well priced, and absolutely delicious...we'll be returning very soon..

Passano gli anni ma questo posto rimane un punto fermo ogni volta che passo da Battersea. Cibo buonissimo, atmosfera 100% italiana e prezzi davvero contenuti! Fermatevi, anche solo per un espresso! Merita proprio!

Wonderful serendipitous find.Try their salads-so nice to find a tasty simple salad. Pizzas are lovey as is Gnocchi. Atmosphere and service excellent. Will make this on of my special secrets for special occasions.Enjoy.

Cheap and good food, friendly atmosphere, frequented by locals and Italians. Lunch is served from a selection (not a la carte), or made to order sandwiches, or pizza. For dinner they also have a menu. Usually full of regulars so it has a homely feel to it.

My wife and I love coming here, we actually have a very hard time leaving the shop because they keep bringing out amazing new dishes. The meals are fresh and the customer service is super. I am so glad that we were given this recommendation.

Our fav local italian - I am used to having my boyfriend at home requesting a night at Captain Cs.We went down this week. I had my usually Pizza Capricossa and its always delicious with a soft egg on top.They have now even got much nicer large wine glasses.Staff always cheerful and helpful and let you know what they have made fresh that day - tagliatelle, gnocchi etc.Well worth a trip

This is a small restaurant, serving Italian no frills but very tasty food at good prices.The service is friendly , Leah is excellent.
