We are regular clients of this restaurant and we like to keep a watchful eye on the quality of food and service, over a length of time. Where many other establishments often fail in maintaining their initial standards, we have found that the cuisine at "dal romano" has constantly satisfied our needs. It is truly roman food, authentic and fresh. The owner, Carlo, adds his caring touch with a friendly and professional presence. Price is reasonable and ambience is cosy and elegant. We always enjoy going back and taking guests.

Having dinner at Dal Romano has brought back the taste of roman cuisine that I only thought could be found when going back to my origins, in Rome itself, but it is this side of Tiber.Food in this smart Clapham restaurant is cooked in an authentic and meticoulous fashion, with no compromises for the sake of cash flow or attendance figures. The pastas are good enough to make one postpone any diet to the following day, Carbonara and Matriciana being the flagship dishes.I am a fan of lamb and the Scottadito always leaves me happily satisfied, same with the superb dessert of Stawberry and Marengue Semifreddo. Dal Romano has become a synonym for a feasty night out with an excellent wine list and efficient, polite service, all beautifully directed by the "simpaticissimo" Carlo.

It was on the off chance that I read previous reviews of this restaurant on TA and decided that I would take friends who were visiting this past weekend to try it.The menu is exciting and has many dishes that we loved making it hard to choose. Note. There seems to be no website so you only know what they offer (& prices!) once you get there. The decor was modern and tidy and in fact a little to bright. Could do with some candlelight to give it more atmosphere. The food was tasty, reasonably priced but the delivery of each course took far too long. It was over 1 hour between our starters ( zucchini flowers x 2, mozzarella & prosciutto) before our next course. Even though we were having a good chat and drinking some lovely red wine, I still think this is too long to wait. There was no indication there would be such a wait, no offer of bread to tide us over....This luckily hasn't put us off trying it again but a website with some lower lighting and quicker turnaround between courses would greatly improve this place.

Del Romano is stylish in decor, the welcome is charming and warm and the menu triggers all of the taste buds, so that the mouth waters in anticipation and delight. Three of us enjoyed an excellent meal - full of wonderful flavours such as I have only experienced in one very special restaurant in Rome. Portions are generous, including vegetables served with the meal. Service suited us perfectly too as we weren't hurried but had time to savour every mouthful. A lovely evening at what is clearly an increasingly popular restaurant.

One of the most exciting experiences of dining at del romano (aside from the Pasta) is witnessing the inspiring passion of the owner. A chap who has decades of Italian resturant experiance all over Asia. you can be assured he will look after you. We certainly felt that way. the atmos is a cosy and delightful. The food is typically Roman, and can be rich, particularly the Carbonara (my fav) but you are warned to expect something different, and so you should, this is the real deal Roman dining at its best. We have been there twice now with our kids (both under 3) who were made very welcome and as a couple. The wine list is exceptional and will meet the most astute wine aficionado. The menu caters for all and most importantly at the right price. We would reccomend making the trip from wherever you are in London if you want authentic Roman italian food. Fantastic.

This is an outstanding new Italian restaurant which gets busier each time I eat there. The menu is authentic Roman, some of the ingredients (e.g. courgette flowers) being flown in from Italy. Despite this, however, it's very reasonably priced; a 2-course meal for two costs £60-65 including service. The food is mouth watering for all courses with imaginative but unpretentious presentation, wines are excellent and service is impeccable. Extremely nice atmosphere with good jazz at a level that permits conversation. It has a private dining room for 25-30 which I've just booked for a family celebration! I predict that over the next year dal Romano will become a London restaurant hot spot.

I don't normally eat at Italian restaurants in England. After living in Italy for many years I have found so many Italian restaurants here to be a cliche' of an Italian restaurant. This place was no cliche'. Everything from the menu, the service, the atmosphere was like being in a local trattoria. We were able to relax over our food and enjoy the meal at our leisure. I went with members of my family and had the best carbonara since I discovered the dish at Al Moro by the Trevi Fountain over 40 years ago. Just how the Romans like it, and with the saltimbocca main course, raspberry sorbet with prosecco, and a couple of glasses of Montepulciano, I think this is the best find in Battersea since Positano closed. Clearly the local Italian residents have found it as there were plenty eating with us.

I have eaten in many Italian restaurants and pizzerias in the City over the years and they are generally pretty good as long as they are managed by Italians, in fact some of them are better than in Italy. RISTORANTE DAL ROMANO in SW12 belongs to that category. Here you have everything, wonderful food, great wine list, super atmosphere and excellent service performed by knowledgeable Italian staff. Carlo the manager/owner greets you with stylish and sofisticated charm without being over the top as often you find in Italian restaurants in some part of London. The menu and the food is to die for and so is the wine list with a non expensive wine such as Verdicchio Castelli di Iesi but also the the expensive Tignanello. Disappointing experience at Cassio, Tooting. I came here with my boyfriend hoping for a nice romantic meal. Upon arrival we were greeted by a moody waitress, her manner didn’t change throughout the whole night and when we spoke to the owner about this she even said herself that the waitress was bad and should go home…. It took half an hour for our drinks order to be taken, the food was average with portion sizes being too big. The atmosphere is totally off, no music and bright lighting for an evening meal.

This is one of the worst dining experiences in my last 20 years in London. Tonight. Pretentious beyond belief. House wines very very expensive and so average. £50 plus service! As to food, my wife and her friend chose a main pasta dish with crab and asparagus and both those key ingredients were left out by the chef. There are only about 20 covers in the restaurant. It wasn’t until my wife suggested I taste her dish that I called the owner over. These were about £25 each plus service. So the kitchen and those serving had no idea what rubbish they were serving. Bland watery pasta with no key ingredients. This place was recommended to us. We invited two friends. They looked up the menu in advance and thought all looked very expensive. We didn’t do that. The whole thing was so embarassing. I have never written a restaurant review before, but this place reminds me of Dick Turpin. At least he wore a mask. I think I’ll avoid Putney going forward to stop being reminded of this farce. Less than zero stars.

We really wanted to like this place but unfortunately the snarky staff and the sneaky approach to charging customers has completely put us off - they charge £2 for Parmesan cheese to have with your pasta (!) and also £2.50 for a bottle of tap water (daylight robbery.) None of this is explained to you so you leave feeling rather fleeced - much like the very despondent patron who was shouting at management for most of our meal. The food didn’t make up for it either. Entirely mediocre. Unfortunately one to miss specially with the many other options on Garrett lane.
