What a lovely little restaurant. After a much needed day out, we topped it off with a meal here. We hadn't made a booking, just popped by on the off chance. Given it was Bank Holiday Saturday, they did manage to accommodate us but explained that we only had an hour and a half. Staff were very polite and attentive. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxed. I would recommend this place for a romantic meal.

Well what a fantastic valentines meal we had, the restaurant was all decorated for the special day and looked great, the staff were so happy and enthusiastic which made it all that much better, the 4 course meal was the best we've ever had for a valentines meal and all the food was cooked to perfection, we loved it all and will definitely be back and will tell friends all about it. We have visited Candles numerous times over the years and have never been disappointed. We came to Llandudno at the last minute and were pleased we managed to get a booking. We both had the three courses for £26-95. Started with egg and prawns, sizzling chicken and scampi then cheese and biscuits and tiramusu. You cannot beat the value the food is cooked fresh and the portions are large. Well done We will be back again.

This is a real find! Candles is a lovely intimate and cosy restaurant serving incredible food. Menu options are a 3 course menu, a vegetarian 3 course menu as well as a la carte. I am coeliac and also dairy intolerant. Most of the dishes across the menu are gluten free. I had sea bass from the a la carte menu and the chef kindly adjusted this option to make sure it came dairy free too. It was utterly delicious!! Lovely friendly waiting staff. Thankyou so much. Highly recommend this restaurant, we had a really lovely evening here.

What a wonderful little place. Not super fancy, so it's a little bit romantic, you get a warm welcome and the food is seriously good. I had the chicken curry-that chef knows how to make a sensational sauce. The flavour was complex and absolutely delicious. Enjoy!

We were there as a group from Ireland attending the Cumbrian Rally and found this lovely restaurant was excellent from start to finish. Eight of us left very happy. Menu and food choice was outstanding. Staff and service to match. Lovely to meet the host who has family in Clonmel. We will return.

The 3 course set evening meal was excellent and great value for money. The waitress and chef were very welcoming and attentive to our requirements, which included one of our party who has a vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diet. My wife and I received a very warm welcome as we entered the restaraunt. The menu choice offers quite a range and the food we had was delicious. This is a place that people need to try.

We have been coming to Candles for the past few years on every visit to Llandudno (we come about 4-5 times a year) & we’ve never had a bad meal or service! Monica is one of a kind and always makes us feel welcome, including my little boy who she loves to see each time! The staff are always helpful and nothing is too much trouble! The food is always fresh & we always joke about the portions being huge - you definitely won’t go away hungry!! The fixed price menu has so much choice & the kids menu is brilliant too. The place is always clean, tidy & there is always 2 lots of cutlery, napkins, place mats, wine glasses, a candle etc - so I don’t understand some of the reviews where they say no napkins - we’ve never had that problem! We always look forward to our return!

My husband & I ate at Candles yesterday evening. We both had a fixed price three course meal (multiple choices). I am Vegan and I was very impressed by the choice I had, it is one of only a few restaurants that I have been to where I have been given a Vegan menu, usually there are only one of two vegan options. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, we thought it was excellent value for money. Also praise to the staff as they were all very efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Back here agin during weekend visit to Llandudno. As I have mentioned before you do need to book to get in here at weekend! It is just an amazing restaurant it ticks every box - quality of food/choice/service/ambience. Friend and I once again had the 3 courses with the wine of the week which at £15.95 was quality. Our mains were the sizzler of strips of steak in sauce with onions and peppers. I thought nothing would top the duck I had in May but oh boy this was just superb! The girls serving on are wonderful and trust me....if it was your fist visit you'd look to go back!

The only word that I can use to describe this hidden gem is incredible. Been coming here for many years now, we make a point of coming from our home in Stoke on Trent just to come to candles. Jock and the team are fantastic, never ever have any of our family had a bad meal. The 3 course menu is absolutely fantastic value for money, and the portion sizes are big to say the least. I think he has only just put the price up of the 3 course set menu and at £26 you cannot moan for the amount of food and the quality of the food that you get.

We ate there last night my wife had mushroom soup which was very nice. We both had steak Diane which was the worst steak I’ve ever had, it looked like it had been boiled . The desert was ok.

My wife and I dined at Candles during a long weekend in Llandudno recently. The restaurant had been recommended to us, and it didn't disappoint. We were welcomed by the two young servers and our drinks and food order was taken promptly but without the feeling of being rushed. The young server who looked after us most of the time was extremely polite and regularly checking we were ok and not needing anything. We opted for the three course set menu. When our meals arrived, they were piping hot, a good portion size and very tasty. It is a pet hate of mine when food arrives at your table luke warm, I'm afraid it will always get returned if it's not hot. The vegetables were cooked just how I like them, and by the time we had finished our mains, we were too full to take advantage of the more substantial desserts, electing for the lemon sorbet, after we'd made a bit of space! We timed our meal just right, as towards the end of our mains, a group of ten what became increasingly loud golfers arrived and were running the servers around a bit. If I had one bit of feedback, it would be that I always prefer fresh chips over frozen, but that's the only minor point we had. We would definitely return to Candles next time we are in Llandudno, and recommended the restaurant without hesitation.

The set menu is pretty good value @£26.95 if you're hungry, and can find a starter and main to your taste, which I was and did. I had deep fried calamari followed by freshly caught trout, which I enjoyed very much. Others had from the a la Carte menu which was very expensive for one dish eg: Beef stroganoff £34.95. It would help to have a priced menu outside or on a website, as we were quite shocked by the prices once we'd sat down and looked at the menu. Nevertheless, generally we all enjoyed the food and were impressed with the chef working alone in the kitchen who served us all at once hot tasty food!

Went to Candles yesterday, we had a fantastic evening. The staff were so friendly and helpful, my wife is vegetarian and often finds she has the same food options but this was not the case last night. We both went for the three course set menu, there lots of choices. The food and portions were fabulous and we both struggled to do much justice to lovely desert. This is the first time we have been to Candles but next time we come to Llandudno we will be definitely going back.

Great service, especially the lady who was serving dinner at the evenings. Really good family vibe as it was cozy and homely at the restaurant. Wonderful value for the amount of we got. We spent less than 50 quid and ate so much food we didn't know what to do. Great appetizers, great dessert. The main course though could do some work.
