Told that this is/was the best fish and chip place in town so decided to try it out. Battered fish was OK but not exceptional… freshly cooked squid a disappointment. Only 6 pieces in portion and they were chewy and lacking in flavour… A shame, I really wanted to love the place… but don’t

Absolutely first class fish and chips. Fresh, brilliantly cooked and friendly service. Amongst the best we’ve had in Scotland.. or anywhere come to that. Our dog, Yogi, also recommends the battered sausage - but then he always does! 😄 We’ll be back on our next visit.

Used to always go to Camerons, but find recently that there is too much dross in the chips and fewer edible ones, lots of waste. Their fish and chicken is yummy though.

Unbelievably disappointing. Definitely not using grade one Haddock. Greasy , tasted like that the oil had not been changed for a while. Haddock was overcooked, Chips had obviously been sitting for a while and been mixed with other ones that had been put in more recently. £9.50 for at best a medium piece of haddock. Very poor value for money.. this place used to be great! I

Great chips but fish was very dry and poor Visited many times and it is variable here yet pricey Fish should be cooked fresh, not left lying in the heated cabinet and not mostly batter

One of the worst fish and chip shops I have even been to. Fish supper chips we're cold and as hard as leather, steak pie rock hard and dried out inside disgusting binned.

Just turned up on a whim. Was told that the wait would be 20 minutes, and to come back - as did the people before me. Turned up 18 minutes later to be told it would be a few minutes. No one in the shop but me, but they made me wait for a further 5 minutes. I got the clear impression that my turning up was an inconvenience. The fish was very greasy and the chips stale. At £9 there was little enough of it. Won't be going back in a hurry (excuse the pun).

Great service and chat. Small fish and chops and a portion of black pudding, white pudding and chips. All tasted great and were freshly cooked.

After a day walking, I really needed a good fish supper and Camerons did the job. Wide menu. Freshly cooked fish and chips perfectly done.

Basic fish and chips. Kind of overcooked. Quite expensive for what was received. Simple. Service staff was friendly if not for being a little rushed.

This chip shop is pricey and the food is average. The fish was small and very dry and the scampi was over cooked.

A genuine treat. Food is perfect no matter what you order, it is always of the same platinum standard and very moreish.Great portion sizes. Enthusiastic and delightful staff, always making sure your order is good to go. Personally, I would highly recommend the Piri Piri Chicken Strips.You'd be a bloody fool (or drunk) to have a fish and chips from next door.

I love camerons chippy i always get cheesy chips from there and its the best chippy on the isle of lewis, waiting times short as ever, potion sizes are perfect and just overall amazing 5 starts

Having eaten fish suppers from just about every corner of Scotland and England, we looked at the reviews for both the fish and chip shops in stornoway and decided to get a fish supper from Camerons, I phoned ahead as I wad just sitting around the corner, the staff were very friendly and they gave me a time to pick-up my supper absolutely fine could not fault the time of the service, when I arrived on my time my order was waiting for me perfect .The fish supper was very tasty indeed, portion size was not to bad only criticism is the batter was slightly greasy but on the whole not too bad, would I recommend Camerons, Yes absolutely

After travelling from Manchester and arriving on Lewis we were recommended to try Camerons and we were not disappointed. It is very popular and as our visit was during Covid we had to ring our order through and a time given to collect. Very efficient service highly recommend and very fresh and hot.

chips and sausages were absolutely delicious, regretted only getting the small portion and having to share it with my husband!!

Chips were good. Ordered a chicken burger and a jumbo sausage. Driest chicken burger I have ever had from a chip shop not even a layer of butter or mayo on the bun. The “Jumbo Sausage” was a small sized sausage in batter however it was tasty.

Being from a fish town originally I carry baggage about fish and chips. I must say that this was amongst the best in my books. Friendly staff too, a bonus.

Its definitely the best place in town for your fish and chips (fish supper) and all other things fast food.Always a queue but service is speedy and order cooked as you wait.Right in the heart of town parking is easy after 6 when the pedestrian areas is open. I guess in summer periods this will not be the case.Negative - have to pay for a paper bag!!!

We were very disappointed with our fish and chips tonight, not for the first time either! This has happened to us quite a few times on a Friday night, before going for our shopping to Tescos. They were just not hot enough, so obviously not freshly cooked, which people expect from this chip shop. Not good enough.

Excellent, amazing fresh fish and tasty chips. Really friendly staff, all were smiling and happy in their work, really refreshing to see, well done! We sat over the road at wooden tables were lots of locals had congregated to eat in the fresh air too. We live by the sea and have our own super quality fish & chip shop so to come away and find one that’s even better was a surprise!

I've never been disappointed with a meal from this location but how I long for the abolishment of health and safety and have my meal delivered in a newspaper wrapper...Just Joey.

Highly recommend the fish supper. The fish is made and cooked to order so always fresh. Comes in cardboard box which makes it easier to eat. staff always friendly. Visit the island for work and always make sure I have one take away.

But we walked past Camerons on our way to dinner every night in Stornoway, and patrons were queued out the door. Walking back to our lodging after dinner we noted the queue had disappeared. Because by all appearances, they'd sold all they had to offer. So it must have excellent food.

Had a takeaway from here recently and was very impressed. Normally I prefer fish in breadcrumbs which most chip shops do however not at Camerons. I therefore settled for the battered fish fully prepared to leave half the batter however it was light, crispy and not greasy I ate the lot! Just the right size and amount of chips. Thought it a bit strange they charged for sauce and the little wooden forks but don't let that put you off a visit.

Not deserving of the rating on Trip Advisor. The fish (haddock) was over cooked the batter was grease laden. This was not a good experience. The lack of local competition has resulted in this chippy going downhill. Step up your game or you will not be around for much longer.

Popped in recently after reading reviews of the place. Ordered a black pudding and cod supper. Black pudding is lovely (yet where isn’t it on the island) and the cod was made fresh to order so didn’t disappoint. Plenty of chips in both suppers so weren’t hungry afterwards. Neither seemed too greasy either which is always a bonus. Shop was quite busy when we went in but you didn’t have to wait long for food.

We got a takeaway for 3 for dinner. The food was as you’d expect but the service we had was poor. It might just have been an off moment but we ordered our food and then our order was forgotten. All the staff were pleasant and the food was reasonably priced.

Amazing fish and chips whilst in town. One slight disappointment was chap who served us despite explaining twice to put the curry sauce in separate tubs poured all over the fish and chips which caused the box to sag and leak from edges. Very very busy though at peak times so don't be surprised if your wanting to visit!

Whilst recently visiting Stornoway, I sampled the haggis twice and the Haddock and the Calamari. Wonderful chippy, highly recommend it!!

A very friendly chippy offering good value meals ranging from fish through various puddings. Take your food down to the harbour and enjoy the atmosphere.

Brilliant chippy my only criticism was the vinegar, more water than vinegar I think. Lunch box and drink fantastic value for money and a decent size portion.

This being our second trip to Stornoway, we had to visit Cameron's again... and we were not disappointed again either. Our party had either the Haddock or Cod dinner, and we all agreed that the fish was fresh and tasty, while the chips were among some of the best we had on our vacation.

We stopped in about 3:30pm because we wanted a restaurant dinner of oysters, and needed guidance on how to find them in Stornoway. We luckily caught the staff in one of its few serving lulls of the day, and they all gave suggestions. Finally, one staff member grabbed a sheet of paper and wrote down suggestions.

My wife enjoyed her scampi and chips, I thought the fish "odd" and my son disliked the batter. Staff were OK if a little disorganised.

Visited here whilst on holiday in Stornoway. We had langoustine and chips served in a nice box. Very tasty. Only a minor complaint - you have to pay for sauce! Would come back if in the area.

Given the positive reviews of this place, I was a little underwhelmed by the food. I had the standard Scottish meal of a fish supper (haddock and chips). The chips were very good. The fish was fresh and like all Scottish fried fish there was no skin (why do English fish and chip shops keep the skin on?), but it struck me as being pretty standard and perhaps a bit overfried. The batter was nice.

I asked a couple of locals where the best fish & chip shop was and they both pointed me towards Camerons. That's as good an endorsement as you can get! There was a queue, but I'd be more concerned if there wasn't. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and when they noticed me perched on the windowsill they fetched me an extra chair so that I could sit with my sisters. It was my first experience of haggis and thankfully they cook it so well that I went back the following day for exactly the same meal. The haggis itself was rich, dense and served generously.

Discriminatory behavior. When it came to my order staff ignored my eye contact and appeared busy. So I was last person standing before my order was taken. Very demeaning experience.

Great chippy and often quite long queues waiting for service but don’t let this put you off its well worth it. The haddock was so fresh and perfectly cooked a real treat to enjoy while watching the boats in the harbour. Fairly standard range of a menu - but there are also some specials on offer as well.

We drove up to Stornoway from Scalpay where we were staying. Not having visited the town before, we were looking for somewhere to eat and came across Cameron's fish and chip shop by accident as it's in a little back street. The staff were really friendly and we chatted as our fish was freshly cooked. As we live near Whitby in North Yorkshire we're used to good quality fish and chips, we weren't disappointed here either. Luckily they had a little table and two chairs inside the shop and a coffee machine so we decided to have a coffee (it was very good) and eat in. The fish was absolutely delicious, we had cod, it was white, firm flakes and covered in a light , crispy, golden batter, the chips were beautiful too, hot chunky and fresh. The portion sizes are very generous too. Easily the best fish and chips we've eaten for some time.

It can be quite a ‘wait’ as they always seem to be ‘waiting for chips’ long queues and slow service. Chips are usually very pale, more like fried potatoes without giving them enough time to become chips! Can’t fault the fish it’s not too bad. On the whole mediocre

Called in here for some fish and chips whilst on a weekend break on Lewis. Was served promptly and it was busy but the fish was cooked fresh to order so a short wait which was absolutely fine. Fish and chips was absolutely delicious, batter was lovely and crispy and the whole thing very tasty. Recommended!

My advise would be to get there early. This would be a 5 star review but the day we went by the time we reached the front of the queue they had run out of both cod and haddock because they were so busy, so we had scampi. However it was worth waiting for, best chip shop scampi I have ever had, the only shame was I didn't have enough time left on holiday to try the fish.

Am I the only one that enjoyed my fish'n' chips served in a sheet of newspaper. As fish and chips go these were good and well priced. Joey.

I visit Stornoway extremely frequently on business and fancied Fish and Chips one night. Obviously I looked on trip advisor and read the reviews for this place. Went there, bought haddock and chips and peas for £8. Thought that was a bit steep, but I digress. Got them back and was totally unimpressed . The haddock was small and not fresh, the chips were old bits of scraps from the bottom of the fryer whilst the peas were just about acceptable. This place is a complete rip off and is trading only because it is one of the very few places where you can get fish and chips on The island. There are far far far better places on the mainland which are better value. Don’t get ripped off and visit here. Wait till you bet back on the mainland.

A good selection of food to choose from. Staff always seem helpful and polite. Fish is sometimes a bit dry and potato choice for chips isn’t great. Not great in flavour and a bit woody. I have used Cameron’s for some time and the chips always seem to be this way. If they are to compete with their rival in the town they really do need to step up their game again and find another usp.

Whenever I’m in Stornoway I always pop in for a portion of their onion rings, only £1 for 5 of them and they are delicious, really light batter, homemade and crispy...perfect!

Had a lot of good takeaways from here. Last Friday had two haddock and chips. Fish was dry and tasteless, chips not the best. Will give them another go soon. Let’s hope it was just a bad night.

We read about this shop prior to going to Scotland & having the same last name knew we had to try. Got the small fish & chips which were very reasonably priced & plenty to eat. They were very busy which is always a good sign yet still took the time to take a couple photos of us outside the shop. Highly recommended. Food value

WHen I was there they fried the fish and chips fresh for me. They were very good - not greasy, but were oily. I think maybe if they’d sat for a bit that wouldn’t have been the case. But very good! I would recommend these over the other fish shop. I tried to review that one, to give a warning against it as it is extremely greasy, don’t go there! Go to Cameron’s instead!

I ate here both nights I was staying at the Crown Inn next door. The haggis supper was awesome. Wonderful haggis, amazing chips and not expensive. All the staff were happy and quick. It’s a pity they don’t have more tables to eat in.

Had lunch at this very busy Fish and Chips shop in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. The line was out the door, but it moved along and the food was very good. Lots of choices to choose from on the menu, but the Haddock and Chips was the star of the show. Fresh and delicious. The Chicken and Chips is also pretty good.

Really busy place but got served in no time. Everything looked great but had to go for the fish supper.

Went walking around town and saw locals with bags of food from Camerons Chip Shop. Found the location as we wandered town. Seemed busy and so went in and order fish and chips. Only one small side table inside and we sat and enjoyed the meal. Well worth it for a family looking to have a quick meal that they could take out.

In Stornoway for the day and I needed a black pudding supper fix. Camerons did not disappoint - I was in heaven, light batter, melty chips, so much taste. My husband loved his fish and chips too. I've eaten a fair few battered products in my time but this place takes the deep-fried biscuit. Fantastic menu, lots to choose from. Clearly popular as was quite busy even on a mid afternoon weekday. There is a table inside but the benches just a few steps away offer a great place to tuck in when the weather is good. If Camerons was my local I'd be as big as a house, GREAT chippy.

Without a doubt this is the best fish and chips I have ever had. The chips are excellent and cooked just right but the real star is the fish. Cooked to order and with the lightest tastiest batter. Nice friendly staff as well.

Just disembarked off the ferry from Ullapool and immediately made our way here following favourable reviews on Tripadvisor.

Lovely to go somewhere where there are a team of young men working well together with great manners. It was hot and our children’s slushes were a bit liquid but they did tell us. Minor mix up order (could have easily been my fault) but rectified without a quibble. Large portions. Well done.

I was offered salt n vinegar on my Cheeky Chips, but I think they threw in some extra Heroin in there, cos these fried tatties are ADDICTIVE.

I decided to try here after seeing in queued out the door two nights in a row. I enjoyed my burger in batter with chips. I think the difference is they use a butchers burger rather than what some chippes do and iae a cheap quality burger. I enjoyed it and will return on my next visit to Stornoway.

Had arrived in Stornaway that day after a long journey so wanted an easy meal. Found Cameron's with really fresh fish. Queue not too long and moving quickly. Very good selection of fish as well as other food to go with the chips. Batter very light and not too greasy.The flavour of the fish came through very well.Generous portions. Hoping for some real fish and chips we drove from leverburgh upto Stornoway after looking at the reviews.

We asked a local lady at a bus stop if there was a chip shop anywhere, she directed us here. It was hard to find under scaffolding,so we asked someone else, who also said it was excellent, and they pointed it out to us.

We'd already planned on getting fish and chips this particular day and when we saw the queue at this place we assumed that could only mean it was very good. I got black pudding and chips and was originally very disappointed on opening the box to find there was only one piece of black pudding when the board said you got two. However, it was probably for the best in the end because it was exceptionally salty, and I ended up wishing I'd gone for just a fish. Other half had cod and chips which he enjoyed, but we did both comment that we maybe should have just gone next door where there was no queue at all rather than waiting for a long time for fairly average food.

Ne vous fier pas à la devanture, mais plutôt au monde qui entre et sort. N'ayant pas pu me décider, j'ai gouté un petit peu de tout, soit un poisson, du poulet et une saucisse frits. Les 3 étaient excellents, mais légère préférence pour le poisson, super fin, très bien cuit, à la commande, pas en avance. Les frites maison sont très bonnes aussi. A manger sur un banc au soleil, mais attention, les mouettes en raffolent aussi!

Busy takeaway just tucked off the main streets of Stornoway. You can park (just!) outside for a short period of time. Large selection on the menu. All freshly cooked and very tasty. Haddock and haggis were the standouts for us this time.

Spent 20 minutes in a queue which consisted of 4 other people to be told no cod, no sign up telling anyone. Was going to order 2 fish and chips 1 mini fish and chips, 1 chicken nuggets and chips 4 peas - takeaway would have cost £28 ridiculous walked out. No where else to go so they can serve what they want at whatever price they want never survive in the real world really dissappointed in stornoway not embraced 20th century yet
