Calthorpe Arms in Birmingham

Went there few weeks ago, ordered food, came within 2 minutes, pre cooked food heated in microwave, total rubbish from kitchen. No taste at all. No go area.

Had my B'Day party in their new salon,(hall) so well organized, the family have lunched & dined never disappointed,

My food was absolutely terrible on Sunday I got food for £50 and it was so bad I had to throw it out.The service was atrocious and they forgot half of my food.The butterchicken was cold and stale and my masala chips barely had any masala.I will definitely not be coming back.

Friendly service. Order our drinks from the bar, then went to sit in the dining area. Lots of choices on the menu and the prices seemed reasonable. We ordered our food at the counter. Our meals arrived quickly, which were hot, tasty, and plentiful.

Popped in for a quiet chat with my sister got two drinks and then sore the menu, the food was bang on and ill be having few quiet chats in the future.

Fantastic food crispy chicken best in burm. So gave you 3 out of 5 because people in car park smoking drugs and drinking out of cans. Don't like even going into car park to get a takeaway . Was fantastic having been told to come back in five minutes by the lad who takes the orders is not acceptable. The same lad chopped all the salad with his bare hands does not ware gloves this is not acceptable tell him to wear gloves

Can get very noisy when they are serving the theater crowd.

Only went for my tea Was amazed at the huge size of the place In the front a typical sports pub (Villa supporters) at the back a restaurant that would cope with any family gathering ' Friendly helpful staff' lovely meal large portions and surprisingly cheep

Excellent quality for a curry and grill. Staff were friendly and prices very reasonable. Location was clean tidy and not too busy for a Sunday night. I would visit again

Food poisoning. Saw a woman throw the christmas tree on the floor because she was angry

Great place for a good quality tasty Indian grill/meal. Just needs abit more atmosphere, decoration and clientele, although on our visit it's the most number of diners I've seen in a while.

Indian bar grill type place, decent despite the location. Service and food excellent as usual, have been a few times.

Its very risky knowing that this is very very near me. Came here to order takeaway for the first time and me, my friends and family enjoyed it very much. The portion sizes were very good. We ordered chicken tikka jalfrezi, fish madras, spicy garlic paneer, fish pakora, veg curry and chilli chips. The only none spicy item was the veg curry. The rest were so spicy but SUPER yummy. My favourites were the jalfrezi and fish pakora. The prices were amazing. Next time I will definitely sit in, the restaurant is actually very spacious and has lots of parking spaces. The staff were also friendly.

Brilliant food in a lovely clean spacious pub. All the staff are friendly and the main chef always waves as we leave. I eat here regularly now having in the past only eaten in the curry triangle around the Ladypool Rd. Everything I have here (I have tried most of the menu) is as good or better.

First diners today, came previously and found food a bit too hot. This time food near perfect. Good atmosphere and polite staff. Not sure how the multiplication of Naan breads, gave us enough to feed half of Perry Barr? Spotless restaurant, give it a try soon folks...

Tried calling here just to query about something, and the guy that answered was so rude to me; didn’t even give me a second to finish what I was saying after saying what my query was before hanging up. And then when I immediately called back, I was put straight to voicemail. Not the best way to treat your potential customers over the phone, is it 🙄🙄, like how old are you? Grow up.

Went here for the 1st time this week, was impressed and great value for money. The Biryani was one of the best I've ever eaten. Highly recommend this place.

Lovely family orientated bar and grill. Food is on point along with atmosphere in the main bar would recommend to anyone that wants good scran ideal and spacious for family get together. I can't fault this place

The food is absolutely amazing here 😍 the customer service is as you would expect to be treated and that's very well. The place is beautiful inside and spacious we had the butter chicken 🤤 Lamb biryani🤤 Special fried rice 🤤 And chips are good and crisp but soft inside...And the beautiful cheese naan too is to die for this a new regular for me....food is freshly made and the open kitchen is nice and clean . Only thing I'm annoyed with is that I wasn't coming here from the moment it opened lol and I live so close 😩🤣

The food here is amazing! The service is slow but the pub is kind of busy but it's fine. Sunny and his team always give us a warm welcome and nice smile. A solid 10

This was my second visit. I came with my 2 boys and their grandparents on Saturday. Food took a bit longer to come but was delicious. I had the keema with roti. Would definitely be ordering that again. Staff were very friendly. The place is modern and clean. Definitely a new favourite of ours.

Surprisingly quiet when we went on Tuesday evening. This is the third 'desi' pub I know of in Handsworth and well worth the visit. Faultless food and service.

Visited the Calthorpe Arms for the first time in 15 years and was impressed with its layout,,, the extension being made to add a restaurant looks good,, the venue itself I'd recommend for football fans but I'd advise sitting at the tables in the restaurant area particularly if a live football match is on,, the bar tends to have lager louts chanting obscenities about other clubs they don't like

DISGUSTING food. The fish was hard AND THE salad was BLACK. They clearly did not put effort in their food and the meat was tough and was probably cooked days ago. When I phoned him he spoke to me in a rude Manor and I showed him the food and he only gave me 7 pounds back when I spent 48 pounds. The entirety of the food was horrible.DONT GO HERE

It's been refurbished so hopefully when it's done it will be a lot better

I usually get takeaway from here, but recently when I ordered Chilli Soya, I was given chilli Chicken instead. As a vegetarian, I was extremely distraught when I had eaten some of this and although the soya looks a lot like chicken, as it’s covered in the same sauce and comes with onions and peppers, it was very clear that I had been given chicken instead Of what I had ordered. When I called and spoke to the manager, who remembered that I had ordered soya- he apologised and said all I can do is say sorry and there’s nothing more I can do! He insisted I bring the chicken back then and there, which wasn’t practical as I don’t live nearby. I bought it in the next day and all he did was insist that the chicken I had eaten was soya. The chicken had been taken away and they gave me soya back, poor portion sizes and they didn’t even compare them both, as funnily enough the manager disappeared before we could! Clearly guilty! I would have respected him more if he had held his hands up to the mistake. Clearly they need to carry out quality control here. I wouldn’t recommend visiting here. As a vegetarian, I found the manager insulting my intelligence even suggesting I had eaten soya by showing me a frozen packet of soya. Like that helps at all! Bad review, but justly deserved!

2nd time visiting with my family, nice Sunday vibes. Meal was excellent, portions were 👌🏾. This maybe the new family monthly go to.

Service was fast, good spacious seating and plenty of what looks like 4k TVs. Food was great. Starter potions were a bit, we ordered small pakora fish( needs to be more crispy) and crispy wings (were great). Lamb jalfrezi curry was slightly over cooked just the meat but the curry was better then most mixed grill places in the area. Needs more uniqueness to standout.

Venue - Good refurb, plenty of screens. Large car park. Clean. Lots of seating. Definitely a good place to watch sports. Food - Low quality, Bland. Theyve tried to match prices of local restaurants but the food quality does not match. Drinks - Carling wasnt great. Cannot comment on any other drinks as i wont be returning.

Lovely curry and naan bread, prices excellent at this high quality level. Restaurant booths and tables very comfortable. Plenty of Sports screens but not over bearing. Service good. Will certainly return!

Nice food good place to watch sports

Went here a few weeks ago when England were playing.... First time I've seen it open after a long refurb! Very nice inside. 👌 splendid I must say! Open, spacious and has a modern feel to it. Orderd a variety of food from starters menu. The usual mix grill chilli chips fish pakore tandoori Prawns grilled etc etc. Mix grill was okay 6/10. Not the best. Didn't come out sizzling, onions weren't well done and some of the palate was cold. That may be down to the kitchen trying to get orders out quick and clear the backlog????? Tandoori Prawns, and fish was nice. Something different. Their drink selection of whiskey could be better with some premium macallan, glendfidich, jw, to name a few! Customer service was on point even from the main gaffa himself doing table rounds! Very friendly and welcoming Will be visiting soon again to try the food again and get some curries in!! Thank You for having us and look to visit real soon!! Get a music machine in there!!!!!

Great food, great service , we were welcomed and enjoyed every aspect. If I had 1 criticism, I thought the sheekh kebabs on the mix grill were a bit too dry for my liking apart from that, very good 👍🏼

Very good and well cooked food. Staff excellent and very helpful. Good children's menu and well cooked. Hot when it came. Beers well kept. Will definitely go back again.

It's a perfect place to go all ethnic races there all friendly people regardless of colour and creed but drug users have to be stopped there it's not fair on the regulars who love this pub and the landlord is 1 of the best there is
