Das Hotel ist spitze, das Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Kein Wunsch bleibt offen. Auf jeden Fall weiterzuempfehlen. Wir sind zum 4 mal hier und kommen gerne wieder.

This was supposed to be a birthday treat but it was so so disappointing. The tasting menu was terrible and only one of three servers took our feedback seriously. The manager at checkout the next day was completely uninterested. They literally don’t care if you have a good experience or not. First, the venue was so cold, we both had to retrieve jumpers from our room. Second we ordered a bottle of wine with our tasting menu. No drinks arrived with our first course which was a bad sign. When we asked, we were told “it was still in the freezer chilling”. If you don’t have a cold bottle of white, tell me to order something else. Or offer a complimentary glass of something else to have during our first course. If you offer fine dining, you need to communicate when something isn’t up to fine dining standards - don’t shy away from admitting you don’t have a chiller bottle of wine. The tasting menu itself was completely uninspiring. The first course was cold. More than cold - the centre was what I would call frozen. We mentioned this to the waiter. He told us it’s supposed to be that way. It was terrible cold. And the waiter did nothing to take our feedback to the kitchen. The soup course was okay. The third course was again disappointing. My husband pointed out his disappointment to a different waiter - he didn’t care either. The scallop course was cooked appropriately (which can be hard to do) but the bouillabaisse was again uninspiring. And it wasn’t hot. I believe we mentioned this to the third waiter of the evening. The main course was the worst. It was so cold, we said we couldn’t eat it. At was at this point we were informed that the head chef was looking after a different tasting menu and the sous chef was preparing the tasting menu in the restaurant. They simply stent up for the task. Or the menu is truly uninspiring. The chef came out and apologised. We offered to quit the menu as the experience was ruined and I didn’t want to celebrate my birthday after such a disappointing meal. The chef insisted they try again. A new hot meal was brought out. But as to earlier points - the menu wasn’t up to a tasting menu standard. The team had the audacity to offer to comp the service gratuity and our sparkling water the next morning. That goes to show how little they care about customers having a good experience. We certainly didn’t expect anything for free, but there was no acknowledgement of the errors carried out by the waiters or the kitchen staff. Really poor experience. Don’t bother with the tasting menu.

Eolas offers a tasting menu which was unimpressive and poorly executed on this occasion. The experience was disappointing so much so that we were keen for it to be over and offered to abandon it just over half way through. The worst part was what then followed with the hotel manager, following our experience in the restauraunt, who was prepared to argue that we had completed the event and therefore it was deemed to be all fine in his eyes. We attended the “award winning” restaurant on a Friday evening and opted for the tasting menu. A sample of small bites to showcase the “award winning chef”. We ordered wine which did not appear until the second unimpressive course. We enquired after 20 minutes if it was coming and were informed that it was still in the freezer as it wasn’t chilled. It’s a small point but it gave an indication of the quality of food to follow. The first course was a small choix fit to be served as an amuse bushe in terms of size and complexity. We provided feedback on the first dish as it was cold by the time it was served( the plate was still hot from a heat lamp presumably). The staff apologised. We moved on. Subsequent courses included a small blob of duck pate served luke warm with some dried doughnut. This was not fine dining. We provided realtime constructive feedback as the pattern was becoming shockingly repetitive and unenjoyable. A venison course served next and was cold. At this point we held out little hope things could improve after clearly pointing out things were not going well. Even though we were more than half way through we did speak to the chef and offered to abandon the meal as we were there to have fun and this wasn’t fun at all. He seemed keen to proceed even though he admitted he was very busy elsewhere at an event within the hotel. We offered to abandon the meal for their benefit and for ours as recovery at the 4th course was not really possible. Things did improve we noted but too late as over half the meal had been disspointing. Sadly there are no other dining options within walking distance. At the chefs suggestion and with no other choice we persevered. It’s important to note the serving staff were all very nice but it was the food quality that was the issue, and it may just be factors affecting the quality on the night but having read reviews now, there is a pattern of poor quality emerging this year. In summary, food not great, staff nice, chef apologetic, pleasant and capable when asked if he could perform better. The real issue following this was the hotel duty management staff insisted as we had stayed until the end of the meal it was deemed to be of acceptable quality. Their stance was that we should have walked out of the restauraunt if we were unhappy with the food and therefore, as we hadn’t done this, the meal was deemed to be to our liking. They were particular ignorant to the situation, unapologetic, and unwilling to investigate if what we had experienced had actually happened. They cited various awards the hotel has to make us feel our complaint was somehow not valid. Their main aim was to make sure we paid our entire bill of £340 minus £10 compensation for the fairly unsuccessful tasting menu meal. They relented slightly after a few hours of arguments and offered a £40 reduction but this required a lengthy unpleasant exchange over the entire morning of our departure beginning before breakfast and lasting through the morning until an extended discussion at check out. I would avoid going the hostel and certainly wouldn’t bother to feedback or engage with the management who are entirely disinterested in guest comfort or concerns.

I booked for one night for business travel. I was due to arrive on 26th February to pay on arrival. The hotel took payment on 24th February , without my permission. Unfortunately my business trip was rearranged, I cancelled within the cooling of period and yet I am still waiting for a refund on 8th March. Had the hotel adhered to the booking terms of payment on arrival, there would be no need for a refund. I have just called today and spoken to a very rude person in reservations who agreed to process the refund now, offered no explanation as to why it was not done on 26th February, or apology for taking payment in the first place, and had no concept of customer service! I stay in many hotels on business and have never experienced such appalling attitude. I am very please that I didn't stay at that hotel.

This was the most expensive gift I have ever received. In total after the add-ons the bill came to £570 approx for 2 nights dbb. Drinks every time we went to the bar it was a different bottle of white wine, differing in flavours and price ranges too. They never had a clean white wine glass and always had to go look for a white wine bottle. Considering the Cairns Bar was closed and the Barosa Bar was the only bar opened, it didn't make sense. The fluctuation in prices and types of wines were excessive. I only had 2 glasses of wine maximum. Sometimes only 1. The food, I ordered a beef fillet ,which was a £12 supplement, medium rare and it was delivered medium at best some parts were well done. This was resolved by the restaurant staff. However the Barosa staff were another issue, why when they had to go search out a bottle of wine did they then have to go look for another bottle when I was the only one drinking white wine in the bar. Each glass was more expensive than the last. The rooms were well appointed, but the draft coming in under the doors made the room cold.It was a remote hotel and customers were held to ransom. Will I go back. No! Will I recommend this hotel. Never.

Thought we would treat ourselves to a nice lunch on January 2nd - this seems to be a bad idea as apparently places are running out of things as no deliveries for several days (2-3 surely) Arrived and was nice enough and the young waiting staff are absolutely delightful the best part of the meal was the lovely staff - happy and cheery if not a little embarrassed to have to keep telling me they didn’t have things … Started with a glass of the house Sauvignon blanc from Chile - was awful took it bag and asked for a bottle of the picpoul which they didn’t have - so was assured the Chenin blanc was lovely - it was ghastly but I managed it - followed by a glass of the Chardonnay which was a bit Meh 😒 but not bad Food I ordered mussels (didn’t have any) my wife had the leek soup which she thought might have been highly processed and from a can, I then had the haggis beeps and tattie started which was very nice and came in a pie crust very unusual but a nice twist For mains I had the wagu burger which was a tasty burger - nothing more or less, I enjoyed it My wife had the lemon soul goujons with she ate two pieces of nut felt they tasted off - t tried them and spat it in to my napkin …. All for the grand sum of £99 - we didn’t make a fuss and left a £20 tip for the waiting staff as they were so nice All in all disappointed - and the moral of the story - don’t go out for lunch 2nd January

We were enjoying a nice drink in the beer garden one sunny afternoon, when a youth started shouting & swearing at us because we were English (which was funny in itself because none of us are 100% English). The locals were appalled at his behaviour & the landlord immediately ejected him, however, it cast a shadow on our visit.

Having worked in hospitality myself I’m usually quite sympathetic and lenient towards servers but my goodness, the sheer attitude on these servers was genuinely disgusting. Made it very clear they wanted nothing to do with any customer in the building and were so rude. The wee girl with ginger hair was fine this doesn’t not include her, but the other two were genuinely just horrible and ruined the night for us (Michael and Laura). Just disgusting to be honest, think some service training needing to be redone. Also food took 1 1/4 hours and didn’t get to us until 1935 (after being told we had to leave at 2000 so we were rushing in eating). Food was good I will say. I definitely wouldn’t come here again. Disgusting behaviour from the two staff mentioned. Ginger girl idk your name but you were CARRYING the workload tonight, they should promote you

Fantastic place with wonderful service. I went there on a cold November day and ordered the most delicious caramel apple crumble to take away and they threw in some custard in a separate container. Lovely staff and a lovely shop.
