The place was busy and the member of staff round is a table. We ordered pot of tea and a tray bake. We received our pot of tea, no tray bake. Then another member of staff asked or we were okay? However nothing appeared. We were nearly finished all the tea so we just paid and left. They did apologise, we won’t be in a hurry to go back.

I visited with my partner on a Saturday afternoon, it was a last minute decision whilst Christmas shopping in Dundee. We had phoned half an hour in advance - thinking we’d be lucky if we got a table at this time and at last minute notice - fortunately we were able to book a table which gave us plenty of time to meander towards Forbes of Kingennie and also enjoy the very beautiful surrounding views. The lady on the phone, Vicky, was wonderful and very accommodating. We sat in the bar area, which is decked with Christmas decorations, a central fire pit and cosy, wholesome decor. It wasn’t overly busy, but we were glad as we prefer a quieter atmosphere during our lunch. The tables have ample of space and very comfortable chairs. The staff are very attentive, as soon as we were sat down we were asked by the bar staff what drinks we’d like to order. We had lattes as it was bitterly cold outside. We perused the menu which has a modest choice of comforting and filling food, settling on two burgers (one beef and one Cajun chicken) and two sides of onion rings and macaroni cheese. Whilst we did wait a long while (around 30 minutes), it was absolutely worth the wait. The Cajun chicken burger was the best burger I’ve ever had, stacked with apple and cheddar wood cheese, smoked bacon, gherkins, tomatoes and lettuce, the Cajun chicken was slightly crispy but juicy and flavoursome. It came with soft chunky chips, salad and coleslaw. My partner also agreed that his beef burger was incredible. The portions of food are very generous, and we found ourselves struggling. The staff had checked on us throughout the meal. After finishing our meal, we sat for a while just enjoying each others company and the atmosphere of the bar. Our experience, our first experience of dining here anyway, was wonderful and we have already booked our next visit here. I would also highly recommend after you’ve eaten, taken a small stroll around the ponds behind the restaurant. The views from the restaurant itself are beautiful, but the walk itself is charming. The only downside to our dining experience was when we went to pay the bill, you can’t add a tip on top of the bill if paying by card. Which regrettably we had no cash either to leave a tip so we weren’t able to tip the staff. But in saying this, on our next visit we will tip twice as much to make up for it.

Went on Mother’s Day with my family the menu stated if you have allergens or intolerances ask staff for separate menu, there wasn't one, as I’m also a vegetarian I was offered a roast without the meat! That was all they had to offer me so my meal was 3 cold roast potatoes and 2 carrots I would definitely not recommend if you have allergens/intolerances or you are a vegan/ vegetarian absolutely disappointed that the menu offers no choice for vegans/vegetarians They should be doing better than that

Save your time when ordering from here. Just use just eat. The gentleman who has spoken to us on the phone the last few orders is extremely difficult and unorganised to speak with. Very stressful process.
