The Bellrock Restaurant in Angus

Freshly cooked Haddock and Chip supper,absolutely delicious makes the Bellrock my go to place in Arbroath when I am in Scotland,I would not hessitate to recommend,and also good value for money 5 stars.

Never had a bad chippie from here, always get a fish chips and curry sauce, chips hot and crispy not soggy, fish always massive and crispy batter, not an empty bit of batter. Never had a bad thing from here quite enjoy it as my first choice

First time eating here. We went for the lunch buffet option. The fish, pizza and cajun chicken was amazing and so was the sticky toffee pudding. Friendly staff.

Worth the cost! We went there for dinner, and were impressed with the variety in the menu. I had Battered Haddock with Chips, and husband went for the Arbroath Smoky (one in the pic). Both were great servings, to the point that neither of us managed to finish. Had a sundae for dessert, and that was also very nice.

Stopped in for a late lunch on our way back from Pleasure land as the reviews seemed quite positive. The atmosphere was lacking a bit, nice decor but it wasn't busy and felt quite "stiff" maybe some quiet background music would help? Staff were nice but felt attentive at the wrong times. We were rushed to put our order in (came over 3 times in the first 5 minutes of being sat) but when we had questions, wanted re-fills or wanted to pay they were nowhere to be seen. Food was nice, highly reccomend the massala fish or smokies as these were both incredible. Everything else was nice and well made but nothing spectacular. Overall would definitely come back but maybe when it is a bit busier so the atmosphere feels more full and energetic.

I came to the Bellrock during a visit to Arbroath to try the famous Arbroath Smokie. It was delicious. The owner Adil also prepared a few pieces of masala fish for me to sample. Like the smokie it was delicious and the spice was at just the right level to compliment the fish. The portion sizes were very generous, and Adil and his staff were very welcoming. If you ever happen to be in Arbroath I'd definitely recommend the Bellrock.

Best chippy in Arbroath. It also has a buffet service with much more than just chip shop food, pastas etc. Extensive menu, very clean and fresh oil, delicious food, expertly made. My go to when in Arbroath and with great views.

We took my mum out for a meal for mothers day and the food at the Bellrock was excellent....was a bit worried though as about about half an hour in I started to itch then spots on my arm, shoulder and hip came up and they were really itchy...I don't know what it was could have been elergic to their cleaning stuff but I've been here before and this hasn't happened... This won't stop me going again

Excellent service, excellent buffet.

First visit here in a long time but so glad that we went there. It was mid-afternoon so not busy. Served by two friendly members of staff. We both had haddock and chips which was of the highest quality. The chips were freshly and perfectly cooked. The batter on the fish was light and delicious. The fish was very tasty and a generous size. A side dish of curry sauce was delicious too.

This is a great restaurant every time we are in arbroath we go there great food

My sister and myself took our mum to the bell Rock restaurant for her birthday tea and the waiter who was on tonight was a very nice young man he told a joke had us laughing and very polite so we give a good tip as you don't get good waiters like him any more

It was a Good experience but the taste was not extraordinary like I heard about it.

We had our Christmas Dinner here again for the 2nd year running. Food was amazing & there was a huge selection. Everything was absolutely amazing. The staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful. If we could make a suggestion (we have a very fussy teenager) could there please be just plain mashed potatoes (no onions) oh & pigs in blankets please. We loved every minute & everything we had to eat. Very much looking forward to seeing you all next Christmas Lisa, Steve, Cerys, Jake, Corey , Bill & June. Merry Christmas x

booked in for our Christmas dinner this year. have to say the buffet was fantastic. food wash fresh, delicious and getting filled up constantly. very well organised and great atmosphere resulting in a great afternoon. excellent service from everyone working there today so thank you from us.

Not great food nor service nor atmosphere but the buffet is extensive and the fish and chips were okay. Location was convenient near the harbor, we parked at the harbor and walked to/from the restaurant.

Great choices on the menu such as vegan and gluten free and everything cooked fresh. Staff are friendly and efficient. Will be going back soon

Good honest food, we had the buffet and it was fresh, hot, attractive and tasty. The restaurant was about half to 3/4 full and the staff were efficient and friendly. The food came out regularly so we knew it was freshly cooked.

Bellrock is hands down the best fish and chips shop in Arbroath. Battered cod supper is delicious and portion is huge. We regularly get a takeaway delivered to our home and it’s always hot and tasty. Decent price too. Good to feed the family when they visit too - if it’s not too cold you can grab a bench looking over the harbour.

Hi everytime we go for our holiday we always go into bellrock absolutely fantastic place beautiful food and lovely staff would highly recommend the bellrock wouldn't go anywhere else it's fantastic

We had a lovely meal of fish and chips. The menu has a list. We ordered mushy peas, curry sauce, and gravy to go with the Haddock and chips. Haddock in batter very fresh full of flavour very tasty and the batter light and crunchy . Chips beautifully cooked to perfection All in the food we had was delicious and piping hot. Waitress service was friendly and efficient and we did not have to wait too long for our meal. We also had pot of tea and a cappuccino which tasted lovely. I did notice they do a huge variety menu, pizza, 3 course buffet menu, and Sunday roasts. I would recommend The Bell Rock Restaurant ,

Don't let the exterior of the Bellrock put you off. The Arbroath Smokie is the A-List Hollywood Star of the show. We had it Battered and another one Breaded, with chips; but you can also have it grilled with the bones left in if you want the true Smokie experience. There's a reason why the Smokie has EU protected status. It should be on everyone's Bucket List of food to try

What a brilliant restaurant its does a buffet everyday from 12 til 3 great variety of chip shop food including fish and chips and masal fish, white pudding, king rib, 2 special dishes different each day, pizza, fresh homemade soup, black pudding and much more. hot deserts are normally sticky toffe pudding, apple crumble and rice pudding and custard if you wanted it. Also has a cold selection of deserts including coconut cake, choc cake, triffle and fruit. Thier is salad bar with potato salad, coleslaw, cheese, pickles eggs, Cucumber, tomatoes, beetroot, pasta salad etc, the drinks are refillable on soft drinks. If you prefer not to have a buffet you can eat of the main menu which has a very good selection. You can sit in chairs that are near the sea in arbroath with loads of nice scenery. staff very good and willing to help

Ordered takeaway. The servers were lovely; very friendly. Fish was delicious (battered smokies were great) and so was the king rib.

What a fantastic place! We arrived in time for the 12-2 buffet lunch the wife, 2 kids and I had loads of great options to choose from- all cooked to perfection and really tasty, staff couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful and everything at a very reasonable price. We will definately be back soon. 👍👍

Had a chippie box. What great value and good food. Staff are very chatty and welcoming.

The burger arrived very burnt. The patti and bun were well blackened, which unfortunately made the burger taste like a piece of coal. The mozzarella sticks were good. For dessert we had fried Mars bars. The taste was as bizarre as it sounds. But okay. Unfortunately, the fried cuisine was nothing to me despite the solid staff.

Burger I had was full of spices and way overcooked was like eating charcoal also prices are shockingly expensive not worth your money.

The Bellrock smokie is one of the very best fish and chip dinners in the whole country, really outstanding. Traditional smokie also good and they're very child friendly.

Got a single fish, cooked when I ordered but batter was soggy. Fish was cooked but batter either too thick or could have been done longer. Fish when cooked was up to drain for bout30 seconds before put in container. It was only salted,no vinegar. Seperate chips and cheese was ok as was pizza crunch.

Surprisingly, this shop serve HALAL menu, which they cook in separate kitchen and of HALAL resources, as per the staff information. Fish and chip is superb!. Ordered haddock and couldn't be better. Portion is enormous; the fish and the fries. Pure potato cut, not the instant in-package. Price is quite in the high note but the portion worth the value. The offer lunch buffet and ala-carte.

Ordered a Cod Supper, when I ate it, there was more batter than fish, the fish was dry, I've seen more fish on a pilchard!...I suggest using the other fish restaurants in arbroath!

If you love a chipper then the lunch time chipper buffet is a must! All you can eat for a very decent price. Great food and well worth the value for money!

Great gluten free fish and chips, gluten free smoked sausage supper. Hubby had chicken curry and says it was fab. Will go back on our next visit

How do they manage it?! The food is amazing, service really good and the price is reasonable. Everyone there works hard and keeps busy. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, the menu choices are plentiful and it's always a pleasurable experience at the Bell Rock. Also, their milkshakes are bleedin incredible!!

We enjoyed an absolutely delicious sharing platter for 2. So tasty, lots of it, so much we took enough home for our tea tomorrow! Excellent service. Definitely recommend and definitely will be back.

You have to try the Bellrock Smokie. Absolutely amazing smokey flavour. Loved the honest cafeteria style atmosphere in the place. No pretention whatsoever. Onion rings were extremely crispy and tasty as well. Highly recommended.

I've had better food elsewhere. My coffee didn't come out until I had nearly finished my meal. The cappuccino was served in a latte cup with no chocolate on top. Won't be going back.

It was absolutely mediocre. That’s all you can really say about the buffet. Over priced for what it was, very slow to replenish food, chips barely warm, pizza room temperature, fish warm, deserts mixed in with salads, just altogether a very disappointing experience.

I certainly wouldn't have written here but I think people who spend hard earned money on food deserve the right to know what type of people these who run it now are. Been going here for years a couple of times a year. Always enjoyed their food but the last couple of times we found it very greasy. My wife asked the waitress if her gluten free fish could be drained a wee bit longer than usual as she also has Colitis. Sadly it came out saturated in yellow grease. I left a review on their Facebook page saying so.....their way of dealing with negative feedback is to block you. Never came across any business do that before

1 x fish supper & 1 white pudding supper. Both excellent, crispy batter, big very tasty fish. Service was bit slow but they were quite busy. Would definitely go back

The statf were friendly and welcoming. There was a nice atmosphere in the place. The soup was lovely. However the fish had been lying under heat lamps for too long and was a bit dried out. The dessert choice was very good. We will return but be more careful of the condition of the fish.

The food here is honestly not the best but the staff are nice and the interior is great. The chips especially I'm not a fan of, the rest of the food I'd describe as alright, but they do really nice milkshakes. The food is quite pricey for what it is.

Took grand kids out for a meal yesterday honest opinion was rubbish paid almost £60.00 had a little bit of salad small piece of fish 1or 2 chips will not go back good for people that just like to eat as much as they can no taste also charged £3.00 for glass of coke shocking

Got a cheese burger and chips not great burger had no taste to it and the little handful of chips I got were dry and hard Kids got chips and chicken fillets and the chicken fillets were dripping with grease have orderd from here before and just the same thought I would give it a second chance won’t order from here again there are better and much cheaper chippies out there rating 3/10

Excellent fish and chips. The buffet looked tempting, but I was too late. Next time I visit Arbroath, I will check it out.

We periodically travel up from Fife to our favourite chippy. It's spoiled all other chip shops for us. We always go for the battered smokie supper with some extra sides. Smoked fish battered, unreal! Nice friendly atmosphere, no frills, just what you want from a chippy.

Place a good vibe, nice and clean place with a good atmosphere in restaurant. Food is always served good here.
