Excellent food, I enjoyed the Welsh rarebit with mushrooms and had an excellent coffee. It tasted all the better for having been on the circularwalk to Aber Falls and back. Served by a friendly person called Lewis.

Parking very limited but we luckily had a place outside, as it was early afternoon on a weekday with hardly anyone around. Clean and tidy and quiet inside, and a few people in. Omelette was lovely as was the delicious home-made mushroom soup and the tuna panini. The toilet had a child seat for younger children to use. There was a highchair. Around the walls there were info boards giving information about the nearby Aber Falls. We got talking to the owner who was very interesting and it was inspiring to hear about his ideas for the café, in particular including farm trails, added parking and outside seating, so I hope it all works out for him. It was great to find somewhere off the main road.

Very warm welcome. Excellent range of choices for home-made Gluten-free food: Panini's, jacket potatoes, scummy cakes. They also have gluten-free bread but they recommended the panini over the bread. We had cheese, ham and pineapple paninis made with a quality cheese and real ham. Came with salad, including the best coleslaw we've ever eaten. Normally I hate coleslaw but this was scrumptious. They are rightly proud of their coffee - cappuccino was excellent. We only had room to share one slice of gluten-free cake, but it was scrumptious. Highly recommended. Wheelchair accessible, but be aware there is only very limited parking at the café itself - 3 parking spaces one of which only suits a small car. But most visitors will likely park in the village car park, especially if they are walking to the waterfall.

My adult kids dropped my wife and me off at Caffi Hen Felin before taking a hike of the area. We enjoyed tea and sandwiches as we awaited their return. As it approached the cafe's closing time, our kids were still hiking. I asked Aziz if it was ok if we sat in our car in the parking area but Aziz insisted that we sit with him in the cafe. He made us more tea and brought out shortbread cookies (I think) and we had a very enjoyable conversation. A little time passed and a friend of his joined us. Eventually, our kids did return, and he made MORE tea and brought out some finger food for them, as well. Aziz and his staff were so hospitable and the food was so delicious, it absolutely made our day. And how that several weeks have passed, we are back home and reminiscing the highlights of our 3 week vacation, our afternoon with Aziz and his staff stands out. We will forever associate our treatment at Caffi Hen Felin with Welsh hospitality. Marvelous food, service, hospitality, and reasonable prices at its best!

Whenever I can, I like to visit this wonderful cafe in Abergwyngregyn. I regularly drive along the A55 and although it's about a quarter of a mile detour, it's well worth it. I'd like to review everything but the honest truth is I can only really talk about the breakfast. First off - it's all day, the best kind of breakfast in my view. Second, occasionally you might have to wait a few extra minutes, especially on busier days, but that's because it's prepared fresh, using local produce wherever possible. Third, Aziz, the owner, couldn't be more hospitable and friendly, which has now become part of the reason we go there, taking our grandson with us. He (our grandson) likes the home made shortbread (as do I) and he frequently asks if we can stop there. Great care is taken to make your stay worthwhile. It's true that parking is difficult but we've been there at very busy times and still always found somewhere to park. It's also a place that leaves you time to relax. I have it on good authority that the ice cream is pretty good too. So if the A55 is stressing you out, make a diversion and enjoy this lovely cafe.

The soup and a sandwich defeated both my wife and daughter, so the uneaten sandwich portions went home and were finished later in the day. After a splendid walk through the wooded valley up to Aber Falls, we stopped on our return at Caffi Hen Felin for lunch and enjoyed a delicious freshly cooked meal of Welsh Rarebit, Cheese Scone and egg and black pudding and the soup of the day. All were top-notch and to crown it all, we enjoyed a freshly baked cake with our coffee. This Coffee Walnut cake must rate as the best I’ve eaten. What a find and it’s a place I’ll be returning to in the future...you can bet your walking boots on that!

Great menu, top quality ingredients and excellent service. We were served by a young man named Sam, whose service was just superb. Dog-friendly, which is perfect. Can't recommend this place enough.

On a rainy iffy-weather day we walked a deserted stretch of the the N.Wales coast path at high tide from the Spinnies , east of Bangor to the bird hide at Aber and then inland to Yr Hen Felin . We each had a delicious Americano and shared two generous slices of excellent bara brith – moist full of fruit and very fresh – this constituted one portion. Butter to spread on it was supplied . This cost us £7 and a few pennies. Staff were friendly and helpful . Have lunched on specially made egg mayo sandwiches here before now (nothing seems to be prepared until ordered except the scrumptious range of home made cakes tempting the customers) – all the lunch dishes seem to arrive with plenty of very fresh salad . On one visit here at lunchtime I watched a family of two young people in their early teens and mum . The two teens each had home made soup and a generous chunk of bread. Mum had a huge salad dish . There was so much she was able to slip salad onto the plates of both teenagers who happily wolfed it down with the bread. That looked like a major achievement. The quality of the food meant nothing was wasted. On another occasion we arrived at this cafe well past the advertised closing time. Aziz was still there cleaning and preparing for the following day. He happily served us and there was no attempt to rush us or throw us out. When walking has taken longer than planned this is greatly valued . On our most recent wet Sunday afternoon walk we were able to take the five minute walk back to the bus stop and catch a Number 5 bus going towards Bangor and then walk a mile back to the Spinnies where we started from. Yr Hen Felin makes a great halfway house stop for walks along the coast path and using the bus service along the A55 to complete the circle.

Called in here quite a few times after walking and we are always happy. Lovely fresh, simple food for lunch. Love the egg mayo sandwiches and the tuna on chunky fresh bread. The staff are very smiley and welcoming and the café is spotlessly clean and very cheery. It shows that they work hard at making this little village café just right. The prices are also great.

We’ve dined with Antonella and Luke 4 times now, and each time has been a beautiful and memorable experience. With my recent coeliac diagnosis, it has been easy for Luke to adjust the menu as there is hardly any gluten to begin with, but we so appreciated the attention to detail and the thorough decontamination of the kitchen. Passion and dedication run through everything these two do. An unexpected gift of their persimmon Kimchi, was eaten the next day, savouring the exquisite flavours…. Foraging, fermentation and the best ingredients lie at the heart of this experience. And of course, they are dog friendly! Extra nice to treat our beautiful friend to this experience…. See you soon

Had lunch here a few days ago with friends. We were given a lovely warm welcome, coats taken and shown to our table. Great choice of food, with full explanations of all dishes given if required. I can not fault any part of this experience, the young trainees worked very hard to make sure everything went well. The staff were all very professional and it would have been easy believe you were in a “proper” restaurant. In fact I have had much worse food and service in many restaurants! Very generous portions of food, very well presented and good service. Excellent value when full price but we were lucky to go when a 2 for 1 offer was on. I can definitely recommend and will without doubt visit again soon. Thank you and well done to the youngsters.

Had a two night stay here over the weekend of the 6th Sept and what a wonderful little place it is. Emma and Menno were the most welcoming, friendly hosts and we immediately felt like this was a home from home, our room was very cosy and complete with home made Welsh cakes that went down a treat with a cup of tea after the long drive. The breakfasts were amazing and with the added twist of a Dutch breakfast option courtesy of Menno. The tea rooms are currently closed allowing for a lovely spacious breakfast room which is decorated with photos and keepsakes from all over the world. Emma gave us pointers on the local eateries and places to go and even filled up our water bottles for us when we went out on our hike. This is a fantastic base for walking with easy access to both the Rydd Ddu, and Snowdon Ranger paths up Snowdon as well as having several lakes and close by to the Nantile Ridge. Ty Mawr is currently up for sale which is a shame because we would definitely stay again. Thank you Emma and Menno for giving us a really lovely stay.

Staying at the Celtic Royal again we decided to treat ourselves! Slightly put off by seemingly expensive menu but the portions were amazing and food cooked to a really high standard. And then, the puddings! Amazing choice and absolutely delicious! We’ll be back - I hope!
