Lovely place, great staff, fabulously tasty food. Nothing is any bother for them. Been lots of times and will return again and again

We received a warm welcome and seated in our seats. A good variety of food on the menu. The carbonara was creamy and delicious. Highly recommended.

Went in and initial service was magnificent: quick and anticipatory Things went a bit down after that, but no major problems. My lasagne had mozzarella between the layers, which was odd, but good nonetheless.

Booked a table in here for a Saturday evening while visiting Edinburgh and were not disappointed. I chose here as we were looking for a nice, little Italian restaurant and it ticked all the boxes so we decided to take a chance, we soon realised we had made the right choice, the restaurant is small and compact but very intimate and the staff were great from first arrival. Food was delicious and portion sizes were great, we both enjoyed our dishes. Would highly recommend a visit if your looking for a lovely Italian in Edinburgh.

Last minute decision to go here before a theatre visit. Wow! 3 of us, beautiful wine, amazing dinner, great service- we couldn’t have asked for more. We will be back! Thanks

We meet in Cafe Centro regularly but today we decided that was our last time. The service and attitude of the waiter was verging on unpleasant and unhelpful. Coffee and food good so disappointing to have had that experience.

No visit to Edinburgh is complete without a visit to Centro. It’s our favourite Edinburgh restaurant and we are amazed that we can always get a table, even when everywhere else is full to bursting on a busy Friday evening. The sharing antipasto plate is HUGE and excellent value at £18.95. All the pasta dishes are large too. Wines by the glass are available from £4.25. Staff are friendly, service is prompt and professional. Lovely ambiance. Much better than other, more expensive Italian restaurants in the area.

We came here as a family - couple, toddler and newborn baby - with a pram. We tried to get a table on a weekday evening, but it transpired most of the tables were booked. However the staff were very accommodating and endeavoured to fit us in. Eventually we ended up on the terrace at the back, which was fine for us, albeit it without the atmosphere of the main restaurant. We had a quick dinner (food came fairly promptly) and everything was delicious. In particular, I would praise the melanzane parmigiana (baked aubergine) in particular, and the children's option which was great value - a small version of an adult pasta or pizza. Service was included (10%) but I insisted on adding a bit more to the bill because the service was great.

Great Pizza Rio Mare. Prompt service. Good value for money. Nice atmosphere and suitable location in George Street. Will definitely come again. Spacing between tables could be a little more generous.

Really lovely restaurant with friendly, efficient staff and very good Italian food. We were all very happy with what we ate - pizzas and pasta dishes. Authentic, great flavours, good portions and a very fair price for the quality of food - fresh and expertly cooked. Would definitely come back.

We do enjoy visiting this Italian restaurant for either breakfast or lunch! Bacon rolls are delicious & food at lunch is also so good. Pizzas, pastas & chicken dishes are superb & wines are good too. Staff also make it a lovely experience. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Stopped in for some food after being at the rugby with my wife. We didn’t have a booking but they were able to seat us at the window which was good for people watching! Food was delicious! We both like Italian and this was the best Italian food we have had for a long time! We started with the sharing platter which was excellent. Fresh mozzarella, olives, sun dried tomatoes, Parma ham as you would expect was all so fresh. Large portion that we struggled to finish. For main we both had the smoked salmon ravioli with a focaccia rustico to share. Best ravioli we have had! Staff were very friendly and service was good.

My go too place for lunch! Delivers on great selection of food that is delicious, and cosy but lively atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Came here for coffee and a mocha and it was the best tasty mocha around. Unfortunately the pastry we ordered had been microwaved to warm it and this is an exact science, a few seconds too long and it is a soggy bun!

Thank you Caffe Centro! While visiting Edinburgh with my 9 daughter in August it was a struggle to find somewhere to eat Mon-Weds due to the Government’s “eat out to help out” scheme. So after trying many places in the New Town this place kindly found us a table straight away despite being just and served very well priced Italian dishes quickly and efficiently. The waiting staff were kind and helpful and made us feel very welcome. I’m really grateful for the meal they gave us - thank you!

El personal hizo todo lo posible para darnos un helado con nuestros brownies, ¡qué delicia! También vimos que tenían una serie de postres caseros sin gluten que siempre es bueno ver. Caffe Centro es un punto medio perfecto para reunirse a ambos lados de la ciudad y definitivamente volveremos.

We had a voucher for here and had two absolutely delicious pizzas and a bottle of wine. Hadn't realised that Elio's, for which we also had a voucher, was right next to it, so went there a few weeks later.Great choice of menus and very friendly service.

Eat here on a very regular basis for dinner and love it - service is great, staff are great and the food is very good quality indeed. I never understand why it's not busy in the evenings.

Sat at a tall table near the door looking to order coffee. Waited 10 mins and no service so my partner went to the counter to order. She was abruptly told to go back to the table and somebody would be over. Nobody arrived despite us waiting at least another 5 mins and her having plenty of opportunity to let the waiting staff know. Walked out having not ordered. Won't be back and would discourage others to go.

Amazing! The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is fantastic! Would definitely recommend the meatball starter, so tasty and fresh! This place is very authentic and the food lives up to this.

We stopped at this place just before noon to enjoy a cup of coffee and to take a break from shopping. Very well located, in the middle of George street, this cafe/eatery was still largely empty, the lunch crowd not having arrived yet. The utilitarian tables and chairs didn't make for a very attractive or comfortable place, but I guess this is a budget cafe. Service was lackadaisical, and neutral, at best. The coffees were not bad, but they were not great either. The cappuccino was closer to a latte, with too much milk and not enough foam. The espresso was good, although the blend used for it made it a bit acidic and bitter.

We were looking for a non chain place to eat and came across this place. It had a good mix of smaller dishes such as panini as well as pizzas and pasta dishes. Most of our party (3 generations) had panini,s which come with a side salad and were tasty and filling. One of our party opted for the Caneloni which he stated was the best he had ever tasted, high praise indeed. Busy cafe type atmosphere but great for a snack or a proper lunch.

Mi amiga ordenó un panini, yo ordené un poco de bruschetta y mi hermana ordenó el entrante cozze marinara, que dice debajo, tomate con ajo y perejil, que pensó que era sopa de tomate. Cuando llegó la comida, el camarero tenía un gran plato de mejillones, y dijimos que era el orden equivocado. Lo que pensamos que era un pequeño plato de sopa era un gran tazón o mejillones. A ninguno de nosotros nos gustan los mariscos, así que preguntamos si tenemos que comerlo y la camarera dijo que sí y nos mostró el cheque insistiendo en que lo habíamos pedido. Le trajo platos laterales y cuencos para los dedos. Entonces dije que no íbamos a comerlo porque cometimos un error y ahora lo queríamos. La camarera le dijo a todo el resto del personal que nos hizo sentir muy incómodos. Cuando nos dio la factura, dijo que debemos pagar los mejillones, aunque no los comimos. Entiendo que fue nuestra culpa cometer el error, sin embargo, la forma en que se trató fue impactante. ¡Muy decepcionado!

Estábamos buscando un lugar para almorzar y nos topamos con esto por accidente. Nos sorprendió gratamente. El ambiente era encantador y el servicio era muy amable y servicial. La comida era realmente fantástica y extremadamente sabrosa. Mi marido elogia su lubina y la salsa de limón era increíble. Era realmente lemony pero sin ser agudo, magnífico. ¡Ojalá pudieras embotellarlo! ! ! ! La pizza fue una de las pizzas más sabrosas que he comido, realmente deliciosa.

Booked, but We turned up early after a train journey, had a voucher that they point blanc refused to let us use as we were TOO early!!! Seriously, the Manager was so rude, very very bad customer service. i explained the situation & asked if they could accommodate us as a goodwill gesture the answer was NO. Totally shocked & actually can't believe they let us walk out the door & wave goodbye to the money we would have spent & now we will NEVER book here again...... Hooray for Les iguanas Edinburgh. who couldn't be more helpful & gave us discount because they couldn't believe we had to find elsewhere, they felt sorry for us. Now that's what I call proper customer service.

Small Italian situated in the heart of Edinburgh. We decided to opt for half pizza/half pasta. The pizza was delicious and the pasta was fresh and delicious. Fantastic Itison deal. Wine prices very reasonable. Recommend.

never heard of this place wife got deal on ITSON, great location on George street. Its got a great cosy atmosphere and staff were great and very attentive. Food was great and after £25 deal we had £15 to pay for 2 courses each and 1 beer and 2 glasses of wine. Will definitely be back

I don’t know what to say other than this place was so horrible. The Caesar salad was a salad with asda italian dressing. The tomato sauce and sausage tasted burnt and the pasta was over cooked. And the ambiance was gross. I was actually uncomfortable eating the food once I looked around and saw what a mess this place was.

This place takes Tastecard - but not at the time of day we visited. We 'ummed and arred' before deciding to stay anyway. So glad we did.

Just back from dinner was our first visit, we hadn’t realised this place did Italian food, from the outside just looks like a coffee shop, we've been missing out! A relaxed atmosphere and really very good food (and menu choice). I had my favourite aubergine dish that I have only ever found when staying in South Kensington so it was a delight to have it again here (aubergine parmigiana). My husband had an Italian sausage pasta dish which he really enjoyed. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Everything is really well priced and daily specials are available as well. We were bought this as a gift but had we paid would have been c£35 for two courses each and a glass of wine each. Cafe Centro have a distinct advantage with great prices, quality food and wide choice on the menu. A gem of a place. We’ll be back soon for sure.

The food and the service are excellent. We had some delicious prawns to start, a really tasty mushroom risotto and smoked salmon ravioli mains - all very flavoursome and generous portions. We accidentally stumbled by this place on our way to another cafe and so glad that we did! The two soups (broccoli and minestrone), and mussels in tomato garlic and basil sauce were absolutely amazing. So happy we found it! Will Be coming back to try pizzas! We popped in for coffee and cake on a Sunday when more than 6 free tables. I was told we could only sit at the window on high stools. We have been before and loved the food however won't rush back. I explained I have a hip problem and when met with no offer of a table we just left. Disappointing. We would have only been 30 minutes so seems a shame to turn business away.
