my go to when visiting the holborn offices! chilli chicken pasta, and if you can get it before it's gone the lasagna is tops!

Can't believe I worked in Holborn for years before discovering this place. Absolutely amazing pasta dishes; and the best value in the local area, hands down.

The best value for money, and the best coffee in the area. An unassuming cafe just off the high street, but the only non-chain, and so good quality coffee. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and very happy to accommodate you. It's warm and cosy, with extra seating downstairs. The portion sizes are great, and the prices are incredibly reasonable.

This little gem of a cafe is very friendly and family-run. They are very clean, the service is exceptional and quick so you don't have to wait long for lunch. The food is always fresh and very well-priced. They have a variety of hot and cold foods which taste fantastic. They serve breakfast in the morning including a nice coffee which is well-priced and of great quality. Eat-in downstairs for a lovely peaceful lunch.

Always a delight to eat here - the staff are very friendly & the food is delicious. Popular for local workers having take-away lunches - equally, you can sit downstairs in comfort & quiet;unusual for such a central location. A delicious meal cooked on the premises can be enjoyed for less than a fiver ! This is not part of a chain. We have never been let down & always leave happy. Highly recommended.

An absolute gem. So rare to find authentic home cooked food with genuine warm and friendly service. - you might have to queue but worth it. Really good value.

Fantastic fast bite. Very often queues of people to grab their lunch, but the 3min wait is definitely worth it.

£5.50 for a fry up with toast and a decent coffee (not instant). I actually couldn’t believe the value considering I was in central london, where a slice of toast usually involves taking out a medium sized payday loan. Great experience all round, will definitely visit again.

Really nicely run little cafe with extra seating downstairs. Change from a fiver for most breakfast/lunches. If you want something not listed on menu, such as extra cheese or only 3 and a half olives - just ask! I love the generous plain porridge at £1.20, soup of the day at £1.80 or a large box of salad with a bit of everything for £3.50 (pictured). Amazing place, friendly staff, super busy at lunch time!3

I and my colleague got food poisoned. I had lasagne and he got beef casserole. It's very good price for value but I will never go back there again.

So compared with the Prets and Costas this place offers much better value for money. I went in there to try it out as I work more or less opposite. Its an old fashioned place where they make the sandwiches to order in front of you. There's a reasonable selection of fillings and the service is quick and friendly. The only down side is the FSA (Food Standards Agency) which gave it a 1 out of 5 last year. I don't know if they've improved things but be aware that they needed to make substantial improvements. Just to be sure i avoided any salad :-)

I visit this Bloomsbury café every so often and have always found the service very welcoming and efficient, and the food excellent value for money. A small chicken curry and tea cost £3.80, and though 'small' the curry is quite adequate for me. A larger one wouldn't cost a lot more. There is comfortable seating on the ground floor and downstairs (where diners can watch current music performances on a TV if they wish). The café is chiefly a sandwich bar, and I have also enjoyed its cheese salad baguettes and toasted cheese sandwiches. Perhaps it's a little off the beaten track but the British Museum is nearby and the City of London quite close.

A typical, tiny, London side-street take-away / eat-in sandwich bar-cafe BUT with the added bonus of top-rate fresh hot food. A choice of Lasagne, Spaghetti Bolognese, Spicy Chicken stir-fry, Tagliatelli Carbonara, and a Vegetarian stir-fry option were on offer the day we went. Both the Lasagne & Carbonara were truly excellent. Service was helpful and friendly and the terrific range of sandwiches, baps, paninis and salads at the bar looked really appetising. Very busy but tables downstairs. PS Also the best cup of tea I have had in a restaurant/café. Thank you.

Run by a Russian couple, this small cafe in Holborn is easy to miss. However we were in the area, and my girlfriend and I decided to stop for a drink and a bite to eat here whilst walking past. Run by a Russian man, he has obviously decided to put little emphasis on appearances of the cafe, however don't let the interior decoration fool you as the lunch itself was rather good. My girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her coffee, and I would also personally recommend the Lemon Cake Slices - they were simply superb and also homemade! It's not a remarkably special cafe, however it is certainly very good, and worth it for lunch if you happen to be walking by. One small complaint however, I did order a sandwich with Goats Cheese in. What I got was a sandwich with regular Mozzarella in. It wasn't what I ordered, but it was still good nonetheless. However I did order Goats Cheese, and they didn't tell me they were out, simply put Mozzarella in instead. Unsure why they didn't tell me, but the food was still good so I didn't bring the issue up with them.
