Cafe Royal in Blackpool

Bobbed in for a bite when walking the illuminations in the rain. Even though it was 10 minutes from closing we had a friendly welcome Food was great. Home made coleslaw was to die for. Will be back for their home made butter pie at some point. Well worth a tram ride if you in Blackpool

Wow...what an amazing little place. Great freshly cooked local fish and tasty chips. Excellent value for money. Nice cosy atmosphere. When everyone was queuing else where, we found this gem...

Food ok enough and adequate. Charging for little sachets of mayonaise 20p out of order so they have missed out on future custom for the sake of 20p.

Pros.....Looks nice, outside seating and dog friendly, sells wallings ice cream. Cons..... over charged (was refunded when I queried), sausages I would say are super cheap as not very nice and they definitely know how to stretch the egg, as the rolls are just too big for.the filling. This is one of our local beach cafes but we won't be going back

Great place to stop while walking the prom. I like to sit outside and drink the excellent coffee, food is also great. Staff are very friendly AND it's dog friendly too!

Been a few times now and think it's excellent. Food is really good. Dogs are aloud in and also the place is Immaculate.

Order food with my friend and daughter, the chips were good but everything was very disappointing. Order the leg of lamb dinner, the lamb tasted awful I couldn't eat it. My daughter had a simple Chip barm, she asked or ketchup but they had ran out. There was dishes piling up on all the tables around up while staff members seemed to disappear over the road. I was very disappointed at the café it's self looks really inviting but definitely didn't feel that way from the staff.

Well arranged , nice and clean , my friend and l only went in for Coffee, but we did glance at the Menu and there was a good variety, the desserts also, looked rather nice.

Been in blackpool 20 years just started calling in the cafe royal for a cappuccino with the wife and mother in law who's 94 went in on sunday the lady that was serving was so pleasant and cheerful made us 3 lovely drinks think its gonna be our local now .

Food was ok though a little over priced,seemed under staffed and the staff on duty seemed short tempered stressed and grumpy? Tables were left uncleared, I believe The cafe royal is part of the Bispham and Cleveleys kitchen franchise which I personally think are much better cafes than this one.

Had an amazing strawberry sundae and locally sourced walls ice cream. Lovely. Very covid safe. Well done

The Cafe Royal, Bispham is a nice little cafe with tasty food & a good varied menu. Prices are reasonable & you can choose from over 34 flavours of ice-cream! You have the choice of dining inside or out or takeaway & service is quick. There are toilet facilities within this cafe but unfortunately no disabled access to the indoor seating area. We were quite disappointed with the pot of tea we ordered but would definitely go back, just try another drink next time! Some staff we're pleasant. A nice little place to sit & people watch.

Excellent well presented breakfast served by a very pleasant and courteous young lady.

We visited here today for a well earned break after walking miles! The menu was vast. The scones were huge and there was a super selection of ice cream. Can recommend the Malteser ice cream! The staff were really friendly and were doing a great job of following all covid rules.

We came in here on sat night before we drove the lights, we all had the best fish and chips we have had in years, we normally go over the road to the bispham kitchen but it was not too good last year so came in here instead and so glad we did now, service was good too and all covid restrictions in place too, we will definatly be back next year,

Usually love this cafe especially ice cream. When I called just after it opened after lock down I was disappointed. My ice cream had crystals of ice in it and was more more expensive than last year. Over 20% rise for the single cone when wages haven’t gone up hardly at all.

Been coming here since 2012 and always make a point of popping in for a couple of meals. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and quality reasonably priced food will always bring me back. 👍👍👍

We had intended going elsewhere but there was a huge queue and it was pouring down Managed to get one of the last tables in here and we were not disappointed with the fish and chips, so delicious and filling! Have paid much more in Manchester and didn't get this quality of fish! My nephew wanted his chicken pieces and ate every bit of them plus his chips and beans and some of our bread too. Must be the sea air ha ha . Staff are welcoming and friendly and after finishing our drinks but with no room for cakes we gave the Illuminations a miss and headed back to our hotel. We did return the following day after a walk for drinks and cakes, my sister and I shared a huge vanilla my partner had a scone and my nephew had what looked like chocolate shortbread? Not too sure he picked it himself. Prices are very reasonable and again staff very welcoming. Will pop in again next time we visit the area, what a find it was !

We called in for fish and chips during the illuminations, this is the fourth time we have been. It is in a great spot near the end of the lights right by the tableaus, and the tram spot. The food is really fresh and great quality, some of the best fish and chips we have had. It can get busy, so you have to time it well, but we wouldn't go anywhere else for our post-illuminations fish and chips.

Our second trip to the Cafe Royal - excellent fish and chips at a reasonable price, and excellent ice cream to end with! Far nicer and friendlier than the overcrowded, overpriced places near the Tower, and right by the tableau section of the illuminations so if you have small children you can go and walk through that section rather than sit in traffic. We will certainly return.

Excellent from the service to staff to the food! Fish, chips, peas and a slice of bread and butter, what more could you ask for! Arrived in good time, good portions and piping hot and very tasty. Excellent fresh cream desserts too! Highly recommended and will be back soon! Thank you!

Visited twice during a short break in Blackpool. The decor is bright and clean, giving a pleasant welcome on arrival. The staff were helpful and pleasant and the menu offered just enough variety without being too fussy. They offer options from snacks to full meals including a smaller portions for kids or adults with a smaller appetite. Good place to stop for refreshments. The food was well cooked and tasty.

We have just had an excellent fish and chip meal at Cafe Royal after walking through the illuminations. Cafe was busy and food arrived quickly and was hot and tasty.

Two grandparents and a five-year old enjoyed an excellent fish and chip supper. Friendly and quick service with a good range of meals including small portions for children or smaller appetites. Terrific value and I would recommend it to others. Decor and music a little old-fashioned but food, service and prices more than outweigh it.

Came here whilst going to illuminations. Great food, great price. Friendly staff and clean. Would go everyday if we lived closer. Cakes look amazing but didn't save any room for pudding. Will be back soon.

Came to visit the Illuminations and had great fish and chips. Food all freshly cooked and my son (8) declared it the best fish he had ever had.

We came here last year when visiting the illuminations and have returned for a repeat visit this year. Freshly cooked fish on order, delicious and left us wanting more! Spotlessly clean, quick service and friendly staff made it a great experience! Plus we couldn’t resist a cream cake to share at the end!

Went to eat before the illuminations, food excellent, staff friendly. The lady who wa# cooking came out to speak to us she’s a credit to the cafe. Would recommend and will definitely visit again.

Had supper on a freezing day after a long drive. Son said it was the best lasagne he'd ever tasted. Everything is made fresh here. I had Fleetwood haddock & chips. The rest of the fam had chips on the way so was a huge relief to find somewhere they could have a jacket potato and toastie. Plentiful tea. THEN the sweet- strawberry meringue, strawberry Savoy, delicately flavoured ice creams (Turkish delight/creme egg/rainbow). Very friendly staff. Wurlitzer on the CD. Perfect start to the holiday.

This seaside cafe offers the traditional fish and chips but much more besides. Had the steak pie which was rammed with real beef steak. Helping were large. The smaller portion would have been adequate for a main meal. Friendly service. Avoid the queue’s off a competitor across the road and eat here I would say.

Lovely food, good portion sizes. Fast service and very helpful staff. It was busy when we visited due to the illuminations but they were very well organised and efficient.

We came here at 5:00 before the illuminations on a Sunday evening. When we arrived it was very quiet but busy by the time we left. The restaurant and toilet were spotlessly clean. The fish and chips, sausage and chips and cheese and onion pie and chips were all excellent and great value to.

We had an ice cream and a couple of great milkshakes here in July. Weather was great, we sat outside and watched the world go by. Good service, very helpful staff. Thanks for a nice treat.

Visited here whilst on holiday in Blackpool as it looked nice from the outside. It's not table service and you have to order your food at the counter. The blond haired waitress that served us was quite dour faced and gave the impression she didnt want to be there. The food was nice but i thought it was a bit expensive. There is no cutlery or napkins on the tables and you need to go look for them or ask for them. Not sure we would return again if we were back in the area.

Great place good choice and attentive staff. Get outside and people watch. Would be better smoke free. I popped in for breakfast and was not disappointed I loved my scrambled eggs with extra toast

It is totally fantastic, spotlessly clean, very friendly, wonderful fresh scones and real coffee - a real gem of a cafe in the heart of Bispham. 5 star!

Cafe royal good value ice cream

my most favourite café in uk. lovely atmosphere amazing cakes, the best ice creams. beautiful views of sea front. been coming for over 30 years and will visit again soon.

Had high hopes when I noticed the sign for 16 flavours of ice cream, but no luck.

called in for coffee and ice cream and the wife had a scone great coffee and lovely wallings ice cream for the kids i can recommend only thing is there is a small step which i easily got over with wheel chair with wife sat in but thats a minor thing the door were opened by staff as they saw us coming

Visited late Saturday afternoon just before closing. Very nice little cafe with good coffee and cakes. Staff were very helpful, even went over the road to fetch scones from their other cafe, "nice one girls" very refreshing to find such a pleasant attitude and positive service!

just as bad as across the road but we didn't realise the same man owned them both well he has 5 had to research which ones he owns so we never get awful food like this again.

The food was nice, the service was fast and the staff were polite, the overall experience was a good one 🤗

We visited the illuminations and called in for tea, a family of four, we had fish and chips and the children had sausages and chips. Ice cream for dessert. A lovely restaurant, decorated nicely with beautiful lighting. Very clean and comfortable and we didn't wait long for our meal even on a busy evening.

We visited the Cafe Royal after taking our 3 year old through the illuminations. It was the perfect treat, the food is excellent and the selection of ice creams and cakes for dessert is fantastic. The staff are friendly and polite and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be visiting again, excellent service.

After a walk through the Blackpool illuminations we stopped off at Cafe Royal for tea. After perusing the menu, we both chose Haddock & Chips, both lightly battered. Service was very prompt, food was piping hot and very tasty, highly recommended.

Got off the tram and instead of following the crowd to the packed out restaurant across the road we came in to Cafe Royal, so glad we did, as there is such a wide and varied menu, and nowhere near as busy.

Lovely little cafe/restaurant, friendly staff, nice food at excellent prices 5 of us had main courses, 5 drinks and two desserts for less than £40. Plenty to eat. Quick service as well.

Good quality home cooked food, helpful staff and lovely ice creams. Even though the cafe was very busy, food came out very quick and hot. Will come again.

At the very beginning of the illuminations. We had tea here before the lights switch on. The cafe is a decent size and spotless, the staff were great and the food was delicious and well priced. Don't expect anything fancy. Fish and chips, pies etc.. but very nicely done. We shared a wonderful strawberry sundae for dessert. Would definitely go again.

Came to Blackpool for the Illuminations and wanted food 1st. Chose Cafe Royal and was NOT disappointed. Jodie was top class as were other staff members. Food was at table within minutes and very nice indeed. ( fish n chips)! Little man had sausage which were lovely - decent and meaty. Will def call again and if you’re looking for decent food, not pricey come here!

After visiting Blackpool for many years first with my children and now with my grandchildren at last I have found The Cafe Royal at Bispham the food is excellent and cooked to perfection prices are very reasonable staff very welcoming and friendly now when visiting we will not even consider eating anywhere else

The best fish and chips I've had and staff are lovely I highly recommend this place. Very busy at tea time but we'll worth the wait if in Blackpool u must try it Fish melts in your mouth yum yum

Came on a busy night but staff very pleasant and professional. Didn't feel rushed...food was hot and tasty. Plenty to eat on the small fish and chips and the jacket potato was oven baked and full of cheese. Asked for no dressing on salad and wish was fulfilled . Thank you

We come here as a family every time we visit Blackpool. The cafe opposite always has a queue outside but people don't realise this is owned by the same people.

Had a lovely meal with my family on the 12 Oct in town for the fireworks. The service was quick, complements to the cook food was great. Staff really nice. Ice cream to die for.

If you feel like having a delicious meal for ether breakfast, lunch or dinner or just a tea, coffee or cake this is the place to go. Great food lovely staff and a great atmosphere.

We often go to the Bispham Kitchen when we are in the area but we found the Café Royal last year and now we try to go there when it's open. I think both are still under the same ownership and serve a similar menu. There are times when you see staff running from one to the other.
