On Saturday, I witnessed a female staff member (Hill st location) be extremely rude to an older customer, who was visibly upset at how she was treated over a simple confusion about a table/order. I spoke to the woman outside and she was in tears, she was a regular there. You don't know what people are going through when they stop into your establishment for a coffee, be kind, and at the very least provide basic good customer service.

They open early each morning and I visit both locations in the city - Hill Street - if I’m not travelling and The Mall where the main bus station is located if I am. They are around a long time now and they still make some of the very best coffees in the city and they make fresh to order sandwiches, wraps etc. The cafes are independent so they really are worth supporting because they are so darn good. They are comfy to sit in. The free WiFi is fast and the restroom facilities top notch. Although the staff are usually busy they are a friendly bunch. They do produce really great coffees at speed too, so queues are disposed of fast which helps if catching a bus and like me running a bit late.

So I suppose some might say that we broke lockdown by an making unnecessary journey but I’d argue that good coffee is now an essential of life. The coffees here are ace as is the service. The food too is delicious like today’s baked potato with cheese & bacon. The deal here is great; not only do you get one of the best purveyors of coffee Newry has to offer at £2.6 for the large cappuccino you also get a good deal. I was delighted to see that I had to join a queue as these independents need our support in these most extraordinary of times.

Nice wee coffee shop. Nice and simple. Nice toasties and coffees. Very small tables, not really fit for families. Didn’t do the eat out to help out which we found very strange!

It’s been a very long time since I’ve been here and I managed to go twice today. The first trip was just for a flat white and it was really superb coffee. It’s take-away only for now and there are strict limits on customer numbers. When I called in the first time I noted that they were offering take-away salads, filled croissants and other sandwich choices. So as I had four to feed I returned at lunch for two toasted ham & pineapple French baguettes to which I had cheese, onion and sweetcorn added. I also got a chicken salad with the usual lettuce, tomatoes & onion and added sun dried tomato, a boiled egg with very good Caesar dressing. I opted for a ham & cheese croissant. All the food tasted great, the portions were generous and as the food was being freshly prepared I decided to go for flat white number two. The two ladies behind the counter were friendly and welcoming, and doing their best to social distance from each other. One did all the food prep and the other the coffee prep. Each one was careful to apply hand sterilisation after each food prep/taking payment. There’s no doubt that this place and Cafe Maya in town are on a par for absolutely ace coffee - I couldn’t decide who is best between them - they offer the very best coffees around and that’ll do nicely.

This place has been here for quite a while,so I was surprised it was not on TA. There may be new owners as I did not recognise the current people. The place serves the usual serves the usual sandwich and roll selection, scones and coffee. It is quite a pleasant place situated not far from the market. I had a croissant with ham and cheese with a lattee, which tasted fine and at 5.10 stg was fair enough. It has a steady stream of customers. You order and pay at counter and they bring food to table.

Never have I ever received customer service as horrible to the point I’ve felt the need to leave a review. This has completely put me off ever wanting to make a returned visit despite the fact the food was 10/10. The lady who served me was not only cheeky to her customers but to her colleagues. Asked me “could I not read” when she told me cash only and that she wouldn’t be accepting card. This was my first time visiting so didn’t know it was cash only..

Popped in to ease my hunger and found it not full at 5.30 ish. Ordered a 6 inch herb and cheese rib burger meal deal at £5.49. Youth making subs was friendly, clean, efficient and interested in his job. I like less on my subs. So cucumber, tomato, pickles and sweet onion sauce and a little bbq sauce was adequate. Latte was fine and smartie cookie nice. Boss was there cleaning. Place is on busy street but parking should be fine. Recommended.
