Good products and pleasant service from staff

Called in this morning after walking in the park , the food was awful both myself and husband ordered scrambled egg on toast after being told no fried food due to fryer being cleaned , it came out it wasn’t edible it was sloppy and looked grey , took it to the counter to speak with the cafe assistant got told what can be wrong with it ? It’s only scambled egg , not good customer service and quiet rude , we both left it waste of money and rude staff member who need customers training .

Was pleasantly surprised of how good this was, service was quick and the quality of the food was great and I especially liked the milkshake. It's so nice to have little places like this, it's such a shame that not many people know what they are missing out on.

I went here with a good friend of mine and the staff were so lovely and pleasant, greeted with a smile!! :) The tea was lovely, the perfect amount of milk and strength - my lunch was so delicious and popping with flavour! Definitely would recommend the sweet chilli wrap 😊

We just ordered a few honeycomb and caramel flavour ice creams from here for a quick treat- the ice cream was nice and cold. However, neither me or my friend could taste any kind of flavour- it seemed a bit dull for the price. However, I couldn’t fault the quick and efficient service

Excellent warm and friendly staff. Superb location (with kids play area right outside) and tasty food. Will definitely visit again when I am next passing by.

Just had the Halloumi burger and fries. It was so tasty and one of the best things I’ve eaten in quite a while. 10/10 I think it was the pesto sauce, gave it that little extra pop. It tasted fresh, light and I would recommend it for non veggies too!

My family and I came across the cafe as we where walking through the castle park and as soon as we walked through the doors we where greated by lovely staff. The food was delicious and definitely better than expected. My brother ordered a chocolate milkshake and the presentation was thoughtfully done. overall i definitely recommend if u are about in colchester!

absolutely amazing food for the price staff were very friendly and helpful. i had a ciabatta which came with a small salad, and then got to choose for a wide variety of ice creams after!

We only had a cuppa but it was a good one and thoroughly enjoyed !!!!

Asked for the coleshaw with the jacket potatoes which as you can clearly see comes with it to no response or any idea what's happening. Very misleading menu. Please change your menu if you don't want to serve coleshaw with your menus. Hot chocolate was an bit cold and lumpy at the bottom! Paid nearly £7 for a jacket salad and no coleshaw so now going home to have the coleshaw we should of had!!!

Really enjoyable time spent here. Staff so professional, friendly and attentive to our every need. Good was exceptional.

Great location with outside seating overlooking the park. Only had drinks which are now very expensive. £7.00 for large coffee and hot chocolate with no extras. Coffee not great quality and chocolate not very hot! Location made up for the drinks to some extent. Never had any food here so can't comment.

The food is offered as vegan but is fried with non vegan. Potentially dangerous for our child with severe milk allergy. We were not advised of a half an hour wait for simple food for young kids. Generally the staff were pleasant. Won't visit again.

Only ordered Cappuccino which was good. Seating area outside was ok though unfortunately no shade so had full hot sun. Space inside if you're lucky or can take-away. Great selection of ice-cream flavours though haven't tried any. Service with a friendly smile here. Weekends are busy so expect to que. Reasonable prices. 👍🏻

Recently stumbled upon this decent cafe while enjoying a leisurely stroll in Castle Park. On a scorching day, we opted for some icy delights. The Mr Whippys at £2.90 was lovely, and the Kelly's 2-scoops in a delightful waffle cone for £4 hit the spot. The Rum & Raisin flavour from Kelly's was a standout, and the Mr Whippy's creamy goodness was truly indulgent. The service, while not overly enthusiastic, was friendly and efficient. The picturesque views in the vicinity make it a perfect spot to relax, with ample benches and well-maintained grassy areas. Plus, it's conveniently located near the play area. Highly recommended!

The coffee & tea were both the best we had during our visit to Colchester - unfortunately, whilst they looked appealing, the cakes were dry and past their best

Food was very nice and reasonably priced. Staff are very accommodating, even served us breakfast when we had issued the 1130 cutoff. Soft drinks are very expensive but then that's the price you pay for convenience. Solid 4stars.

Lovely place to have a break from the playground. We usually get a milkshake with my son. Well presented and tasty. Lovely polite staff.

Staff seemed very inexperienced, couldn’t answer questions, seemed confused but pleasant. Food was average/ok, though took quite a while to be served (soup). Maybe go only for some ice cream?

Lovely cafe in the corner of Upper Castle Park. Staff worked quickly with order, serving food and keeping tables clear. Good range of lunches, baguettes, sandwiches, jacket potatoes. Also breakfast served. I enjoyed the toasted tuna melt ciabatta and small cappuccino with bottle of still water-nice view sitting outside. Thanks all.

Hi when I asked for the toilet it says customer only on the door when you buy something as it was misleading as the staff was using the toilet and that was not fair really was it the staff only used as it was not fair really as they made a story the handle was not working properly how come the staff was using the toilet 5 times there were using it as I was busting for the toilet customers should have priority two

Love this cafe in castle park, sells everything you need for some refreshment in beautiful surroundings! If you're having a snack outside nearby beware the super tame squirrels don't get to it first!!

Welcoming place in middle of Castle Park near to Castle. Breakfast baquette went down very well waiting for daughter running 5k in official Saturday Park Run. Weather atrocious. Unfortunately cafe on this occasion did not open till 935 and I believe they missed opportunity to provide extra snacks and refreshments to rain soaked spectators. But would recommend a visit...perhaps when weather improves !!

A small cafe with a generous amount of enclosed outdoor seating and vegetarian options on the menu. I personally found the service fast and friendly and the prices reasonable given the prime location.

Situated in the grounds of castle park. On a nice day it's really good to sit out on the fresh air, looking around at the surrounding park. However if you choose to, you can also sit inside. The choice and quality of the food and drink is more than acceptable at a fare price. I found the staff friendly and efficient

This place does a roaring trade when it is fine, and there aren't many tables, so you may need to find a park bench or sit on the grass. Very decent coffee, and huge Danish pastries. A bit of a queue, but worth it. The setting is lovely, just behind the Castle.

Had an amazing time and the food was delicious! Lovely staff members too who were happy to help. Everything was very clean and i love the new look of the cafe.

Very good coffee and teas, along with freshly prepared tuna mayo baguettes. Much better than expected considering lack of competition in the park. Would recommend

Visited today and was greeted by a very unhygienic looking server who was rude mouthy and clearly hated her job! She had the biggest chip on her shoulder and spoke disgustingly to us “menu there innit”. We left without buying anything! Other diners left as they heard how she spoke to us, included some elderly who were outraged by her behaviour! Management may like to reconsider her position if they are to maintain any custom! Hideous experience!

Good service, fair prices and quality drinks and food.

This is a monopoly Cafe overpriced grubby and non inspiring, very poor experience my recommendation would be bring a Picknick or stopp at a Café outside the Park.

When you need relax and stops for couple minutes and drink best coffee RECOMENDED

This cafe has eating outside and in and is a good spot in the summer to sit outside and have a piece of cake or a sarnie. Near the band stand and the childrens play area is very near by and its close to town. I use it alot in the summer. Toilet inside

cafe + crazy golf. Only been open a fortnight ago. Excellent sausage and bacon butty. Good pleasant service from staff. Situated in lovely park.

Fantastic food, both hot and cold. Vegetarian & Vegan options available. Reasonable prices. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely be eating here again.

Very attractive location of this cafe, but... how is this even allowed that a person serves food and takes the money from customers at the same time with bare hands, without wearing at least gloves for food serving purposes if she's touching the money at the same time...? This needs to be reported.

POOR SERVICE AND FOOD. I WILL NOT BE GOING AGAIN. SORRY.

Over priced. £2.50 for a bottle of water, food is pretty crap too. Certainly not worth the money. Staff not very welcoming or talkative

Cafe is situated in a lovely setting. Good views of beautiful park. Hot and cold drinks served. Snacks to eat. Reasonable prices.

The cafe sits in beautiful castle park and should be really popular. Unfortunately, the food is uninteresting, the coffee okay and the majority of the staff always seem like they would rather be anywhere else. Putting in the minimum effort required. Sitting inside the cafe reminds me of a school canteen and has no warmth and is an unpleasant environment to sit and eat a meal. If the food was great it may make it worth it but unfortunately, the food is poor. The outside area should be a wonderful place to sit, but the furniture consists of uncomfortable cold metal chairs. When it is really hot, the outside area is a sun trap, and with only one working umbrella makes it unpleasant in the heat. With a little care and attention, this could be a thriving cafe in a wonderful setting. I would love to come here more often, but I am always disappointed.

Service not trained in hygiene. With the same hands, she serves ice cream in a wafer and money. My son told her to wash her hands! She was not sympathetic.

Not sure how this can be called a cafe as it’s really sweets ice creams & a poor selection of drinks to eat outside, with few if any chairs. Does not do real food or even a decent coffee or tea.

Had a wonderful meal. The place was heaving but service was quick and effecient. Food was delicious.

Visited once as a stop for lunch and to use the playground outside. It was ok. Nicely painted inside. However, we felt the food was expensive & there was machine coffee only. And no toilets. The only ones available appeared to be the public ones outside, which were awful. Seemed to be pretty busy over lunch though, so I guess if the feet are coming in, no reason to try harder or reduce prices. Playground was very good though

Cafe in the park is a nice cozy place. Great place to set a spell after you kids just run a round like a loon in the kids park next to it. I didnt have anyfood but the Hot Chocolate is gr8 and the service was nice.

Coffee isnt very good and opening hours outside of summer season seem very limited. Staff could do with less chatting and more serving too. Convenient if you need a bottle of water or something when in the park though.

Nice but not value for money in comparison to other cafe's in Colchester with similar menus.

Mum and dad had some chips from here very nice and good portion size - didnt eat in but it looked very nice and had vegan options too!

Great for a quick bite to eat, we had a nice lunch.

Overall good choice of lunch menus. They offer a vegan and veg choices which was a bonus. Orders were processed very quickly. There is minimum charge of £5 for order so if you wanted a coffe at £2.50 then you would pay £5. The staff who took our order was not helpful and friendly at all. She was in such a hurry to process our order and yet there was only 1 person behind us whilst the cafe seating was 3/4 empty.

We were surprised to find a healthy range of vegan options, clearly freshly prepared. Lovely light environment with indoor and outdoor seating. A welcome surprise.

Lovely lunch with the kids on a sunny day in the park 😀

We visited Colchester for the day, and decided to eat lunch here. My jacket potato was fine, however my husbands meal, Cod in breadcrumbs, came not only with batter not breadcrumbs, but the fish cold and uncooked. We sent it back and got served it again. While the fish was cooked this time, half of the batter was empty of fish, and the chips had been refried and were loaded with oil. When the waitress asked if we had finished (at least 3/4 of the meal was still on my husbands plate) I complained about it, and she offered us another meal, or a refund. I chose a refund. The waitress went off and argued with someone in the kitchen, which we could clearly hear, then ignored us totally. She refused a refund when I asked as we left, on the grounds that he had eaten the fish. He did eat the fish, but wasn't expecting it to run out quite so fast! A very disappointing representation of Colchester!

Such a polite young man in the cafe! the best service i've ever experienced, he was well spoken polite and attentive i am SHOOK. not only did he make a joke about he card machine when it took a long time - "we're very technical here" - but his hair was impeccably gelled and his smile was i comparable. i would definitely come back just to experience the service of this waiter again!

Great place to have snacks and drinks

Fui con mi marido y mi hijo para un almuerzo rápido. Me sorprendió que no estaban preparados para hacer frijoles en tostadas, que estaba en el menú de desayuno para mi hijo de dos años, ya que no comer bocadillos y no quería que tener una comida completa. Sin embargo, podrían hacer frijoles en una patata de la chaqueta. ¿Es difícil poner una rebanada de pan en el tostador. Acabé siendo él patatas fritas grasientas que no comer.

Three generations, with one in a wheel chair had a lovely last minute lunch sittine outside overlooking the delightful park. Just a simple lunch of sandwiches/salad/burger/chips and food was pretty good. Service was friendly too. Would use again on a nice day.

Teníamos una larga caminata por el parque del castillo, y un poco de hambre, un salto y eligió con pan caliente sopa apionabos crujiente, era justo lo que necesitaba. El personal es amable y hablador y hay una zona de asientos al aire libre para los días de mucho calor. Un lugar precioso, me imagino que se vuelve muy concurrido en el verano. .

Visité el parque del castillo durante las vacaciones de Semana Santa, y aunque no fuimos a café en el parque! La comida era excepcional combinado con el fantástico servicio yo diría que es una visita obligada de la cafetería.

Rude woman serving. Managed to ignore us 3 times, once as she slapped down the plate. Inhelpful, slow. Place not particularly busy. Food ok when it eventually came. Don't seem to like or welcome visitors or want to share their beautiful city. Shame really, it's such a pretty spot.

We were attended to politely, however it took some time for the food to arrive which was hot dogs and chips.And the food lacked taste and flavour...the sauce was submitted part...

Very unfriendly. I'd bought a take out cup of coffee and approximately 15-20 minutes later decided to come and eat at the cafe. I was confronted by a very rude female staff member who refused to let me and my 4 year old foster child sit inside with my "take out" coffee cup even though I wanted to order food from them. She did not provide a friendly solution and treated me as if I was trying to con them out of 20p or however much the difference between a dine in and take out coffee is. Disgusting.

A cup, a teabag, hot water & a splash of milk for £2.00. Rediculous. I'd dare not order food, would need to take out a loan!

Ok service, very bad food they can't even fry chips. Very disappointed for such a lovely park it is real let down over priced poor food such a shame. We won't be going back
