I'm a long standing Customer, eating in or out, today it was coffee and fries outside with my little dog, driven to leave by 2 people vaping, clouds of the most obnoxious smell. It was awful, the cafe needs a no vaping/smoking policy outside too. I did mention to a staff member but!

Popped in today to grab a few coffees only to be told they’d stopped serving. It was about 15:45 and they advertise closing time as 16:00! Seemed like a ‘we’re going home and can’t be bothered attitude’. Sadly will go elsewhere in future.

Myself and four friends, one of whom is in a wheelchair, and all of a certain age visited the cafe on a Monday lunchtime @12.30.There was no gluten free food available apart from salad and chips .I had a wheat baguette which was tasty and reasonably priced. We found the staff miserable and rather rude . The glass of water requested by the wheelchair user never arrived. At 2.10 the manageress very abruptly asked us to pay our bill and free up the table . There were empty tables . We were taken aback as we'd been no trouble , we all live locally but certainly won't return.

We ate here on our trip to Bideford last year and were very, very lucky to be squished onto the little stools by the window, so this year we knew to book! Drinks, Pastries and Gallettes are served in the morning. I opted for the 'Complet' gallette - ham, egg and emmental cheese accompanied by an oatmilk latte. The gallettes are GF, so it was great to be ordering from the main menu rather than scouring the menu. I also spied a Lemon Polenta cake on the menu, in case I had room for dessert- I didn't. Nice 'French' decor and friendly, helpful staff. This is an ideal spot for breakfast, lunch or drinks adjacent to the Burton Gallery. Highly recommended! Merci Beaucoup!

Absolutely lovely spot, just overlooking the park and right next door to the gorgeous little Burton art gallery. The best coffee in Bideford without a double, amazing crepes, a fabulous house rosé too, and my favourite croque monsieur, served with French fries and a dressed salad. You could even share it. The staff are so lovely, friendly and always try and find you a seat if it’s busy (usually is!) most of the time I am alone and just want to relax after a long walk. I always feel so welcome. I think more people are finding this place now as it’s just getting so popular. Treat yourself! Go very soon .

We have visited this cafe as a group and enjoyed it . Today however not so . It was busy but we had reserved a table. Service was speedy and friendly. But ,there was no gluten free bread at all. One of us had a white rustic baguette and it was so hard a visit to the dentist would have been in order had she risked it . We had to request the salad garnish .All of this meant its unlikely we will return soon.

Le cadre est merveilleux, le service attentif, bref ce n’est pas à rater. We went to this museum café and were overwhelmed by the refined and delicious food- we were a party of 9 adolescents and adults and all were united that this was the best outdoor eating experience we’d had for years- and we are difficult ! After a lovely time at the museum we had planned to go to this highly rated cafe. However the atmosphere was very unfriendly in the cafe and the member of staff made no attempt to accommodate us in the cafe nor did she offer any kind of takeaway option. The member of staff was very clearly not ready to run this kind of operation and she may feel more comfortable if she had another member of staff helping her at the time. This would produce a less stressful work environment for her and limit the unwelcoming attitude.

Visited on a sunny Sunday and we saw the cafe so thought would go in for lunch with our 5 yr old. There were only wine menus on the table and when I asked for a menu the lady said we don’t have menus the menu is on the black board. The black board is located above where people eat which is very awkward as people are crowding around them trying to read the menu. The menu is NOT what we expected for a park cafe. There are NO kids options at all I even double checked with a staff member in case I was mistaken. Which her response was “we get asked this all the time and No we don’t” well if u get asked all the time isn’t that a telling u should maybe have one?! One of the food options just said Baguettes ask at bar so thought that would be fine but when asked they only had two left on the menu which was gammon cheddar and salad but they had run out of the cheddar or avacado and carrot. Ended up going for the gammon one which my daughter did enjoy but didn’t finish as was an adult size. The menu is quite fancy which is odd for its location. Over heard a lot of tables saying / thinking similar things to us. Feel it’s a place that could make a lot of money if they made some changes, such a shame. Basically if you have kids don’t go here.... which is going to be most people as it’s located at the park.

The cafe is accessed through the gallery. It is compact but friendly and welcoming and the food was very good. I went with some elderly and often disabled people and they all enjoyed the experience to the point that they intend to go again.

Although a very pleasant atmosphere, food not up to a high level. Some meals are very large in portions others are very meagre. One of my favourites spots in Bideford but not for food. Disappointing.

Meet friends for lunch and a catch up at the buzzy Cafe du Parc and shared a large table with other dinners ( very French). As we looked at the specials board they were disappearing due to demand so we chose off the main menus. Three of us chose Cassoulet which was confit duck, Toulouse sausage and haricot beans, the other had a Croc measure with skinny chips. For me it’s the best Cassoulet I have had in the UK in a long time, great crispy duck, sweet juicy sausage all in a rich sauce. Our other friend really enjoyed her Croc especially the skinny chips. Didn’t have a pud as full, but did have a coffee, dark, strong, earthy taste, excellent. Good food at a very reasonable cost.

We are so lucky to have Cafe du Parc next to the wonderful Burton Art Gallery. Open to all, whether you are visiting the gallery or not. Has never failed to be a unique and fantastic place to eat and drink whether visiting for a coffee, lunch, patisserie or special event. Merci beaucoup! Pam and Art

A first visit and I was amused to find a French bistro in a quintessentially north Devon town. They even have English subtitles on the menu! Anyway, we enjoyed a very good soup, veal dish and a salad dish with an extra baguette nicely packaged...

We went on a Saturday for lunch. Very busy, mix of customers - families, couples, groups of friends. Good choice of food - soup, baguettes, crepes etc, also extensive range of drinks and beverages. I asked if it was possible to have to Croque Monsieur without ham and was advised that they were prepared in advance so the ham would have to be taken out. Being vegetarian I declined and thought this was considerate. I had the cheese & rocket crepe which was different and tasty but would advise having a salad or frites with it as not very filling on its own.We visited the gallery and returned for tea and cakes. Excellent Millionaires shortbread - the chocolate cracked as you bit into it!Not too expensive, clean, friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a visit.

On entering we met our first staff member, who was a short grey haired lady, who was huffing and puffing and seemed mildly irritated that she had to clean up a table. We then went up to order and the same lady appeared behind the counter and took our order. There was no 'hello' or 'welcome' or any pleasantries, and every time we told her an item that we wanted she'd say in a rather terse way 'Is that all?' or 'Is that it?' When we said we wanted an ice cream, she sighed and said 'give me a minute' and walked away in the opposite direction. I can only imagine that she was having a bad day, as surely she can't have a customer facing role with behavior like that.We ordered a couple of galettes, and an amiable young man cooked this for us. We were happily admiring the tattoo on his arm when we noticed his finger nails...they were filthy, absolutely filled with black dirt, they could not have been washed in a week...and he was sprinkling cheese onto the galette and swirling the egg directly with his fingers. I hate to think how much bacteria he added to the food. Why were his fingers so filthy when he was handling food? Why wasn't he wearing gloves? This is basic hygiene! Then our final encounter with a staff member was positive, the young blonde lady who served our food was cheerful, helpful and there wasn't a speck of dirt on her hands. The food itself was pretty good, but as we were eating I couldn't help thinking of Stig of the Dump's black finger nails and whether or not this was going to make us ill...which somewhat marred the culinary experience.Seriously, with some basic management, this could have been a great experience. I urge the manager to make the staff wash their hands and wear gloves when handling food, and for the short, grey haired lady to simply try being polite to customers. We could not imagine coming back here again and having to deal with her rudeness.

Authentic and amazing french food with a real attention to detail; the moules in particular were to die for. Run by a couple whose passion for their food shines through. Can't wait to go back.
