A friend and I wanted to try something different and chose Cafe Craft. We both admit that neither of us are artistic but really wanted to try something new and to leave satisfied. On arrival, we were quite quickly seated and the owner was incredibly friendly. The owner walked us through the process and advised that the concept is to relax, catch up and have fun. We did exactly that!! The environment was relaxed, I did not feel any pressure and the owner checked in on us. We were given 2 hours to pick from a choice of pottery and to then to paint. However, we were not once prompted or told of how long we had and can admit we took longer than the 2 hours. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the experience. It felt somewhat therapeutic but most definitely relaxed and fun! Would recommend and will be visiting again!

We visited Cafe Craft Birmingham on a busy Saturday afternoon. Despite arriving 20 minutes earlier than our 4:00 pm booking, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated straight away, avoiding any wait time, which was a good start to our visit. The concept of the café is quite unique—you choose a piece of pottery to paint, and there was an impressive variety to pick from. I opted for a dinner plate, though at £25, it felt overpriced given that the pottery is pre-made and you’re just painting it. My friend selected a small heart-shaped bowl, which was also £25—again, a steep price for what it was. Things took a downturn when we went to order food and drinks. We were hoping for a sweet treat to go with our hot drinks, but shockingly, there were only two muffins left: one blueberry and one chocolate! For a café that stays open until 6:00 pm, the lack of available baked goods was incredibly disappointing. When we asked about other food options, we found out most of the menu was sold out, leaving us with only a cheese and onion panini. Unfortunately, this was far from satisfying—the panini was essentially chopped red onion and a heap of melted cheddar slapped between cardboard-like bread. It was bland, tasteless, and a huge letdown. The hot chocolates we ordered were okay—nothing special, but not bad either. The pottery painting experience itself was fun, but we were given only two hours to paint, eat, and wait for the layers of paint to dry. This felt rushed, and to add to the pressure, a staff member kept reminding us that we needed to leave by 6:00 pm. I was hoping to paint a second plate to have a matching set, but the lack of time made that impossible. To top it off, we were told at the end of the session that we’d need to come back a week later to collect our pottery. This was a shock, as it wasn’t mentioned beforehand, and as someone who doesn’t live in Birmingham, it was an inconvenience that could have been easily avoided with clearer communication. In summary, while the painting part of the experience was enjoyable, the overpriced pottery, terrible food, lack of baked goods, and rushed atmosphere left much to be desired. If you go, be prepared for a less-than-stellar café experience and make sure you plan for a second trip to collect your piece.

I can't speak for the craft side: I only wanted a drink. The guy told me he'd already turned the coffee machine off because he was closing in an hour. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful, and they have a lot of patience with all the carzy fun that happens here. We went to paint on Mothers Day (2024), and the ladies helped to seat us and explain everything in clear detail, we were served and had drinks brought to us. We didn't try any food however the drinks were lovely. The pricing is reasonable however a little more than I'd assumed, although well worth the experience. We had a 2 hour slot, the items you paint come in different sizes and we chose to paint higher priced items, there is a full range of items at various prices so it's more than reasonable. We didn't feel pressure to pay for something more and we chose to also paint 3 items for 3 people which would add to the cost. Spacing is tight however it's manageable, I would recommend leaving pushchairs at home. Parking was limited but there were side roads to park near by. Other shops are around to go to. It was a great experience considering it's in the city and easily accessible, we travelled from Warwickshire. 1

If I could give this store a 0 rating I would. I’m absolutely disgusted and shocked at the poor customer service provided by the owner. As a mother on Mother’s Day, my son was so excited to give me a gift he and my husband crafted the week before and collected 7 days later (which should be enough time to prepare the order) on the Sunday in the morning at the time they were told. The owner handed the items wrapped to my husband and sadly upon opening when my son handed to me, the items were incorrect. This made my son so upset. He was crying for a long time and actually made the whole event deflated. On Tuesday this week my husband exchanged the items for the correct ones and as you can imagine my son had lots of questions over the the few days. The owner said sorry and that was it. As a mother and my experience I called and I told the owner how upset this made my son and the sorry was not sufficient. He persisted to argue over me, very rude, verbally argumentative and said my H was dishonest about some additional order items which did not happen and were not added to the order. He did not consider my son’s feelings and how upset he was. He ended the call by saying I’ve heard you and I’m not doing anything or providing any good will gesture. How disgusting how the owner could dismiss a child’s feelings like this. I will never go to this store ever again. It’s all about money and no Customer satisfaction and quite frankly poorly run. There are already some reviews which discuss the experience I received and that was on the end of the phone! Not even in person. Any other business would have accepted and apologised SINCERELY and said let your child come back and we can see what we can do for the upset that was caused. No empathy, feelings or compassion. WHAT AN AWFUL WAY to run a business. Clearly this business is unable to take critical feedback to improve services. No doubt the owner will come back with some form of a reply and a dishonest one. However for me, if a grown adult and more Importantly a business owner can dismiss a child’s hurt and upset the way this business did is quite frankly disgusting.

I’ve always wanted to do this so I was really excited. As far as I know you have to make a booking which my friend did over the phone. I arrived on time however my friend was running 30 minutes and the staff were gracious enough to allow me to wait and still give us our allotted time of 2hrs, although I think we stayed even longer than that and there was no issue. The was space cramped in my opinion and the tables and chairs were cheap (so sorry) and rickety. We were seated in an awkward area where they displayed people’s artwork so when said people came to collect them, they were leaning over us. The blank pottery pieces were on display with their prices, we payed £25 each for the style of pottery we wanted to paint. The staff explained everything succinctly and we were left to enjoy. It was a nice, relaxing time and it seemed like a popular date idea too. We didn’t try the food unfortunately but it looked really nice.

If you're looking for somewhere to go for a nice atmosphere, excellent service and a decent coffee THIS ISN'T THE PLACE FOR YOU. HOW IT'S LASTEST AS LONG AS IT HAS IS BEYOND ME 🤯 From the moment you walk in, you're not made to feel welcome at all. Arriving after 10am, the cleaner was mopping the floor - with a mop that was black?! There were no wet floor signs either and the floor was soaked, the cleaner knocked my table spilling my tea everywhere, which she didn't apologise for and just continued soaking the floor 😒😒When I told the manager/owner she just said "Oh okay" The customer service here is appauling, her manner is very stand offish. The price of the pottery painting is EXTORTIONATE 🤨My friend came here to do hand prints of her little boy on two tiles. Baring in mind, these tiles are obviously brought in bulk and the amount of paint used on a 11 months old hands is the bare minimum. I'm telling you this as the cost of these APPAULED ME. IT COST £78 FOR TWO TILES?!!!! You might think this is a lovely experience to do with your children so they can paint their own pottery, but I'm sure there's BETTER PLACES with BETTER STAFF AND BETTER SERVICE.

I went there as part of a group and my sisters where we decided to meet up at the cafe and do some pottery painting. The experience was quite nice as you have a wide variety of pottery to choose from, though a bit pricey. They have a nice variety of drinks and a bit of food. Nothing too fancy. However, they need to have more options for brushes, especially thin ones, and offer bigger brushes or good sponges to colour large areas so you don't have too many strokes. Unfortunately, the glazing was not as good as expected. One of the plates had dirt and bubbles after finishing the glaze, and my piece was not finished yet when I went there. I was told to pick it up after a specific date, which I was really excited about, and when I got there, they told me it's not ready and I have to go back again. I live 40 min (round trip) from the place, so I can only go over the weekend to collect my piece. For the piece with bubbles/dirt, they asked my sister to bring the piece in, and let's see if they can improve/fix it. Update: My sister was given a refund as they cannot fix the issue of the glazing. Unfortunately, my glazing was not done well either, and it's annoying that you can see each stroke from the brush. It's a nice activity but disappointing results

Such a great experience. Instructions given by staff are super easy to follow, just have fun and get creative! There are lots of different objects to paint, mostly at a reasonable price. You get a 2 hour time slot to paint, then they take your piece to bake in the kiln, before it's ready to collect in 2 weeks, finished and glazed. The only thing that would've made my review 5 starts is if it wasn't as crowded as it was. I came with my family in a (pre-booked) group of 7 and they just about squeezed us onto a table. There's no room to pull your chair out, so it's quite cramped. Also, although we were the biggest group, the staff came over multiple times to take our supplies... would just be nice if the business was more prepared for busy days. Still would recommend to others and would go again!

I had a horrible experience here that has completely put me off returning. A shame because I'm local and I would have liked to return. I went with friends. A server took our order for pottery then didn't return. After 20min or so a different staff member asked if we've been served as we were just sitting there, eating into our time (they give you 2hrs max) When we did get our plates we ordered drinks. I ordered a milkshake made with oat milk. What I received could not be considered a milkshake but I understood because you can't make non dairy milk work with everything, oftentimes you have to modify it to make it work in the same way. I took one sip and instantly went to see if I could change my order. Initially I was speaking to a server but I was rudely interrupted by a man who said he's the manager. He was arrogant, argumentative, defensive. Absolutely horrible customer service skills. I am a very calm and reasonable person but the way he jumped down my throat was disgusting! Raising his voice for the whole shop to hear. Extremely inappropriate! I'm glad I went with friends and not my children because that experience would have upset my little one. The lady in the cafe has as much personality as my little toe and even that's pushing it. I went today to collect my pottery and she just stood there looking at me. She didn't say 'hi' or 'how can I help' simply said 'Do you have your receipt?' to which I replied 'no-sorry'and then she said 'What about a picture?' I showed her the picture and she had such a sour face on, it was almost as if I had shown her a picture of an offensive body part. I was hesitant to visit initially on account of some of the reviews, however since then I’ve visited multiple times and will continue to go back. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon, my friends and I loved it.

Heard about this cafe so tried it... Very popular on the day in the school holidays with lots of craters but we only wanted a drink & a cake. There was not much space for the 3 of us so ended up a bit cramped by the counter. It was late in the afternoon so not much choice with cakes. Will try it again now the schools are back

Whilst I loved the finished item and the quality of product is good, I got the feeling I wasn't really wanted in the place and the experience felt rushed and a bit dismissive. I will plate paint again, but probably not at Café Craft

I’ve been to this establishment a few times and have always had a nice time Just spoken to the owner to book my daughters party, absolutely no communication skills doesn’t know how to listen, constantly speaks over you like a fog horn! The fact I called back to book when you put the phone down on me the first time your attitude changed dramatically didn’t it! I’ve never heard the words sorry sooo many times! Il be in to collect my pottery and won’t ever return and hopefully you won’t be around because you are a absolute let down to your own business! O and don’t book a party here folks…. Apparently we eat into her time doing so if we want food even though she offers it!

I went with my sisters to try something fun and new. Prices may seem a little steep at first but when you take into consideration the supplies you use and the time you take painting it, I'd say £10-25 per product (depending on what you choose) isn't too bad at all. Only downside is that quite a few pieces you can choose from, were out of stock probably due to an increase in customers.

We were lucky to get a table even though we did not book in advance. The owner was very kind and explained us well on how it works. Try your skills and make something memorable for yourself or to gift your loved ones.

Great place to happily paint pottery or make jewellery over good coffee and cold drinks.. I've taken my children there several times .. But I also go a lot with my friend.. so adults only also welcome.

Love this place. They do cater for kids but went with the wife and loved it Got myself a small pebble vase to paint and apparently I'm very creative Staff are nice and helpful and there's no rush to get your painting done in one session. My stuff has been there for 6 months now but they understand that life gets busy. Best thing is being able to relax with a nice coffee too

Coffee and Community Creativity at Cafe Craft. I don't care how good the coffee is. If an establishment brings together the community, in Cafe Craft's case, in the name of craft. Birmingham has become a better place. When I entered, it was crammed full of kids and parents in the heart of the cafe. It's not a small place either. There were a few tables free near the entrance, but I had second thoughts. Tamu Cafe cast a shadow on my thoughts (I love that place). Coffee, is not artisanal, but I'm sure most customers will be satisfied with their italian roast. A nice complement to a spot of community creativity.

Loved loved loved this place. Its such a unique place. I happened to stumble upon this little gem, whilst trying to find some fun/ unusual summer activities. I am so happy to have found this place. The staff are so super attentive and friendly. Thus place is perfect for a fun date, fun arts and crafts with the kids or even great for an afternoon meet up with the girls. Honestly I would defo recommend this cafe to everyone and anyone who is looking for something different. Be mindful of the cost though, the cost for pottery painting starts from £10+ also you will need to wait up to 48 hours to collect your finished art peice as it will need to go in the kiln.

Difficult to review. Initial visit was great though expensive but went with boyf to celebrate 2 years and paint mugs for eachother. The girl who served us was absolutely delightful, very personable. When we came back really excited to see our mugs we were met with disappointment. A simple and excusable communication error but we hadn't been told that we shouldn't paint the base. Whoever glazed it with the final clear coat had wiped it off around the base before firing and smeared and ruined the artwork my boyf had done on the base of the mug (which he had spent most of his time on). The struggle is I totally understand why this may have been necessary for the kiln but couldn't it have been done more delicately as the design was very obvious... The worst part comes when I tried to get in touch to see if there was anything that could be done... A discount on a future visit maybe? The manager called back and I was met with an absolutely foul tempered woman having a go at me as the bottom wasn't meant to be painted, telling me that there are two sides of the story and that she doesn't believe that her employee forgot to tell us. The conversation resolved as she got fed up with speaking to me and finished with "what do you want then!? A reimbursement!?"... I said yes... Not looking forward to returning as I've been requested to return with the mug to receive my reimbursement but unsure as to whether she expects me to give the now glazed mug back... Overall... I'm shocked.

Arrived yesterday with my 7 month old, my friend and her 7 year old. Upon arrival we were stood un-greeted whilst the lady carried on doing what she was doing. When she eventually acknowledged us the customer service was sour and unwelcoming. We felt soo uncomfortable. After being shown to a table we went to have a look at what we could craft. Then realised you don’t actually make the product you simply paint it for £20? You don’t get to take your painted products home same day, you have to come back in a week to collect it? On top of the truly awful customer service and truly unwelcoming atmosphere, we decided not to even get drinks never mind spend £20 to paint. If you want your children to feel uncomfortable, receive poor customer service and pay £18 minimum to paint a decent product then be my guest. Otherwise stay clear the woman that works here was genuinely only happy when we were leaving. We took the kids to the Bear across the road and received AMAZING customer service and food.

££££ / Poor Customer Service: The good: food and drinks were decent and selection of pottery was reasonable. The bad: paints were not refilled for out attendance and many of them were empty. There are no specialist tools for very fine work or patterns. Only a selection of brushes that were a little battered. The ugly: on our attendance with 3 children (party of 5) the colleague was on the phone walking around and not standing behind the reception area. She failed to acknowledge us properly and continued her conversation for quite some time before approaching us. Eventually we were taken to a table of 4 which wasn't set up properly. Another chair was added ourselves and she brought over another tiler to mix paint on. There wasn't enough water pots for all of us. Female member of staff seemed like a lovely person just very very busy! She had no time to provide a good customer service or even instructions. She spent less than 2 minutes giving instructions. As I had been to another one before Jack Rabbit in Leeds (highly recommended) I knew some basics very well and had to do the instructions myself. The lady had very poor skills when working around children or ensuring children were having a good time. She did not engage with children at all. Barely engaged with us. I had to approach her for food and drinks on theee occasions. We were not asked for food and drinks. Lovely interior and set up but very low customer service experience. Very clean. 5 pieces of pottery plus food and drinks cost in excess of £100 for around 2 hours. All in all worth attending if you don't mind poor service and just want to do some pottery painting.

Order arrived with in the time window. However, both the restaurant and driver handed over delivery knowing they were unable to deliver all the items. When challenged at point of delivery, i had to request they attempt to redeliver the missing items as they were not presenting solutions. Calling the restaurant the call handler said theyre busy and dont deliver drinks. So why allow it to be ordered? Restaurant offered a replacement can on my next order, but as i am visiting the area, its not an offer i will pick up on any time soon. Refund for the item through JE was easy. Then tucked into the food, nan ordered was cheese and paid extra for garlic. Nan received was a standard plain nan. Not sight of cheese, not taste or garlic. All setting the stage for a tikka masala that fell flat in taste. The jalfrezi was enjoyed and well received, as was the egg fried rice.
