Came for a quick breakfast with my partner. I am gluten free, and whilst the team could not guarantee 100% gluten free environment for food preparation they did reassure me that they were very careful. I had the small breakfast (GF - swapped sausage for mushrooms) and my partner had the regular breakfast. The food was absolutely delicious - stars of the show for me were the hash brown and mushrooms! Really delicious food and a lovely little cafe. Would come here again!

My friend has a caravan at Maenan Abbey and we wanted a cooked breakfast on our way to Ruthin to set us up for the day. A quick search on Google found this gem of a cafe. We sat outside because the cafe is only small and was busy. Not a problem as it was a lovely sunny day. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. Properly cooked bacon and the crispiest of delicious hash browns. On the breakfast was bacon, sausage, fried mushrooms, black pudding, baked beans, hash brown and a fried egg. My friend had white toast and I had brown toast. The brown toast was delicious as it had nuts and seeds in it. My friend was quite jealous. We had a pot of tea for two. The staff were lovely and friendly. There is a small car park near the cafe. We will definitely be back. Well worth a visit.

We like this caffi a lot, and the soup and brown bread was delicious. We normally have one of the speciality teas - Turkish apple or Blood orange. Lovely. And the toasted teacakes and Bara Brith are nice too. The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. It's not open on market days and parking in the square can be a problem.

Called here today prior to Conwy County Urdd Eisteddfod at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy. Bustling little cafe with excellent friendly service and good quality food and coffee. Both excellent quality and large portions. One of us(child) had a small breakfast and I had the vegetarian breakfast - neither of us finished the food because the portion was large. Food appeared lovely however half way through our food my girlfriend realised her chips had been fried with FLIES! There were dead fried flies on her chips. They had clearly been cooked in the fryer along with the chips which begs the question how often are they cleaning the kitchen?! We obviously complained and were told it was pepper dispute being able to see the wings and legs! They took the chips off us and when we said we weren’t paying for the chips they came over and took all the food away saying if we aren’t paying for the chips we can’t eat any of the food. They took the food away before we had chance to take a picture unfortunately. We eventually left. This was on Sunday 18th September 22.

Came here and really enjoyed a turkey in gravy baguette. It had sausage, bacon, stuffing and turkey on. If came with skinny fries and it was AMAZING. It was that good we went back the next week for the same thing. Good thing was that is was a large portion so it could be shared between two people. Only bad thing was it was slow service but was not off put by this.

It is a nice little café that at least tries to incorporate and introduce alternative (read: healthier and more tastier) options for breakfast & lunch – or maybe they just try to cater for the ‘sporty tourists’, who knows. In any case it was rather lovely to see the word avocado on the menu! Not quite local but then bacon and eggs lose their appeal after a few times at the same weekend. They also had their own made salad dressing that was divine.

After a pleasant riverside walk in Llanrwst on Wednesday morning, me and Hubby popped into this cafe on the corner of the square. We were immediately made welcome and handed a menu. I chose beans on 2 slices of granary toast and hubby opted for 2 eggs and chips. We had a pot of loose tea which was a bit too strong for our taste so I asked for a pot of hot water to dilute it a little. The lady immediately obliged. The food was satisfactory and certainly very good value for money. The bill came to £9.75 (cash payments only - there is a card machine nearby). There is a unisex toilet upstairs.

This was our second visit to Cafe Contessa and it most certainly won't be our last! We were given menus by a very friendly waiter and although the choices aren't huge there is enough on the menu and specials board to please most people. We ordered a breakfast and a hotdog from the specials of the day. Breakfast was lovely, real sausage and bacon, obviously not catering pack fare. Hotdog was actually two hotdogs, served in two big pieces of crusty bread with onions and homemade coleslaw and enough lovely crispy chips to sink a small battleship! Food was very good, service was great and the coffee was lovely. We eat at similar places in North Wales and our bill was about two thirds of what it is in most places. Having visited this cafe twice now whilst en route to Betws - y- Coed, I have really enjoyed the food here. When you enter, the furniture does look a little tired and it could do with a freshen up perhaps but it offers a nice homely feel. There is a nice selection of toys for children to play with on the tables and the service was very friendly. The menu is in both languages and offers lots from sandwich, jacket potato, soup, lasagne, pannini, cakes and coffee to full breakfasts. We each enjoyed every mouthful of the food as was lovely to hear that all the ingredients are sourced locally - the bread from the local bakery was divine with the tuna sandwich. There is a good choice of drinks too, not just the usual pepsi etc - Homemade lemonade, orange juices, flavoured teas and coffees. Already looking forward to our next visit so we can call in and enjoy another lovely lunch in a nice cafe which is averagely priced and offers friendly service as well as free wifi!

Many cafés offer the same old tired menus, but here at Contessa they have interesting alternatives to offer too. Everything here is home cooked and freshly prepared, such as the delicious cakes and soups. They buy their supplies from the local artisan baker, butcher and greengrocer. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Newspapers and magazines are available to read and there's free wi-fi too. Great place to stop for a coffee or lunch. Soup and fresh bread costs around £3.50, a sandwich is about the same and a larger meal, for example, home made meatballs in a wrap with some salad and chips is around £6.00

Friendly staff, good - and surprisingly varied - menu and good service at a very good price. Breakfasts are a good buy. The tea menu has something for all tastes and the location is central for a bit of shopping. Well worth a visit.

I stopped here for a light lunch; I had a coffee and a welsh rarebit. The coffee was really good, and the rarebit tasty (the best-made one I've had recently); the service was very friendly, too.

Located in the very heart of Llanrwst on Ancaster Square, Cafe Contessa is the ideal location for a quick coffee pit stop or a nourishing and delicious bite to eat.All food is freshly prepared using local suppliers (butcher, bakery etc) and the great selection of artisan teas and barista coffees will not fail to disappoint even the most discerning of drinks snobs!!A wonderful and warming welcome awaits all who visit, from nearby and afar. Do not dream of dismissing this little gem of a cafe! :)

Contessa is a breath of fresh air offering good food and excellent teas and coffees. As part of the local Cilydd cooperative they really take their teas and coffees seriously with new blends all the time. The relaxed atmosphere complements the food, with free WiFi and a central location in the market square this is "The place to be" if you are passing through Llanrwst. Bilingual in Welsh, Danish and English you will find yourself surrounded by locals and tourists alike. With a daily changing menu all meals are cooked to order from fresh with a passion by Rob the chef. On a cold day I highly recommend the soup of the day as it has never let me down yet.

We stumbled across this on a lovely walk on the beach. We shared some chips and curry sauce can’t wait to go back and try more. Staff really friendly.

I love this place but its not for a main meal just ice cream to take away or if you want to stay awhile try their large variety of crepes or waffles. They are delicious and it has a spacious toilet at the back. Lovely and clean s great place for a treat. They also have a range of beverages and its very clean.

Nice home cooked food, friendly staff! Visited a few times now, a basis looking place but the quality and choice of good home cooked food with really friendly service keeps us coming back and recommending to family. Great value, easy access and free parking.
