Cafe Cod in North Down

Called on a Sunday night , ordered immediately and joined the other 20 odd people standing around! The staff are terrible no speed about them whatsoever. Lady bagging everything was wearing gloves but kept touching her hair. No hair nets on anyone! Waited 25mins for 2 fish bites and chips and then asked for my money back! Didn’t think it was going to take this long! Avoid at all costs! Over priced and awful service .

Cafe Cod used to be our favourite spot in NI for fish and chips. Went a couple of days ago and it was really disappointing. The fish was tough and the chips were practically raw potato

Went with a group of 11 family members on Easter Monday around 6.30 for dinner. Food ordered ranged from chicken breasts, bacon and cheese burger, chicken goujons, fish, bacon and egg and all with chips, coffees, tea and cold drinks. The waitress was quick and as we were seated upstairs she had many trips up and down the stairs. I have to commend the staff member who was helping out on this occasion for her quick, courteous and friendly service. The food was lovely. I would definitely go here again when in the Bangor area. 👍

TERRIBLE. STAFF SO RUDE. Avoid at all costs!! Ended up walking out after staff member was so rude multiple times. Terrible service- told to get out own drinks. Had to get our own menu and when asked did the chicken burger not come with chips told. Not if you don’t order chips… and a dirty look. Pigeon portions & I will NOT be back. Never had service so bad. AVOID.

heard the place had a new chef in and food was amazing so placed a rather large order despite previous reviews. i’m very glad i did! can’t complain about a single item in the order! food was outstanding! best batter iv had in years! fish was amazing! chips were amazing! and the gravy! oh wow! haven’t had a good chippy in bangor for a long time but can definitely say this one was a winner!

We called in for a late lunch, just a pastie supper! This was at two pm on Friday 5th October. We live in Portadown so don't get to Bangor very often, but when we do, we have enjoyed Cafe Cod for years, especially the cod. This time was different. Appalling wouldn't do it! The chips must have been pre fried three times, and the pastie had a slight tang to it, like sourness. So thats our last visit, thank you.

Sadly I have to concur with the more recent reviews that this place which is in a great location doesn’t give chip shops a good name. Fish was nicely cooked but chips were lukewarm and I only walked a few metres away to eat them! Plastic forks and thin serviettes. And they didn’t take card but there is a cash point adjacent. Fishy . Pardon the pun.

Avoid at all costs,I wouldn't waste my hard earned money. Went in and ordered a portion of chips to take away,got home and they were stone cold. Took them back,staff rudely refused to give me new ones or refund my money, I left disgusted, a dreadful place,with dreadful food and service, go somewhere else

Awful experience. Not worth the calories or money! £17.40 for a fish, chip and kids meal. Not sure how the fish came so soggy, haven’t had as bad a fish and chip ever I don’t think. Don’t go here! Just hope we don’t get food poisoning. So disappointing for the prime location it has too.

After a fun day Bangor we decided to get some fish and chips as we walked in the girl at the desk went into the kitchen leaving us standing there after few minutes we had to just leave as the kids were starving shocking service they lost out on money in these tough times you would think they would want as many customers as possible

Customer service, what an embarrassing show of bangor too all the visiotrs/tourists that want some chips by the sea. The girls that serve you are like little pitbulls, horrible. The prices are insane, £25 for 2 people- without drinks. Dont bother

Absolutely terrible. First day if our holidays in Bangor and out for a walk and decided on fish and chips for tea. There was 8 of us and really didn't want us at all. Table dirty no salt in cellar and food very basic fir price. What was the worst then we got our bill we were charged 1.99 for tomato sauce and when questioned the girl was only doing as per manager, we left £100 for basic food. This is my first and hope my last to write a review like this but disgusted with service provided

Quickly called into this long established chip shop along Bridge Street on an early sunny afternoon. A single large chip with salt was ordered, "£5.45 please" £14.50 change received... Apart from the extortion, the size of chip that was handed across can only be described as embarrassing. I did ask for confirmation that the sachet was in fact my Large Chip at nearly £6, the lady confirmed. The food was barely fresh and was in fact SUGARED and not salted (I assume wrongly in shaker) This is a chip shop that enjoys a premium location & monopoly over the current Bridge Street / Promenade in Bangor and really does have the potential to be THE best chip shop in the Seaside City of Bangor, the location is cracking, priceless on a sunny day. the staff on the whole are always friendly and attentive. However based upon this visit, as a local who has been here many times previously for sit in and takeaways, I just wouldn't recommend it currently. There's much better on High Street and Abbey Street to enjoy. Very Disappointing

In the town following a scooter ride. Waited till the waitress came to speak to me. Asked for a table for one. After a vague look around the ground floor, it was clear none available. I asked if one was available upstairs. I mentioned I know what I wanted. I was asked to wait. That I did, and whilst doing so I saw the waitress talk to the lady cooking the food through a hatch with food sitting on the counter getting colder. After five minutes the waitress had not moved from her spot and the food was still sitting. A queue was building up behind me and in the adjoined chip shop where the plated food was coming from. At this stage, I decided it was not for me and left.

The cafe was a bit scruffy, the member of staff was brushing the floor around us. She was pleasant enough but forgot the order twice and had to shout across the cafe to us to remind her of what we ordered. The same happened with the people who came in after us. She should maybe use a notepad. It is overpriced, the food was fine but the bread was stale. No sign to say cash only,we only found out when we went to pay by card so slightly inconvenient having to go to the cash point and return to pay. Probably wouldn’t return or recommend to anybody else.

I had been watching the world cup final in the nearby Grand Social. The game went on quite long and I had about 20 mins before a nearby carol service commenced. I didn't have time to go home for food and it was raining heavily, so I thought, I'll grab a chicken burger - surely can't go too wrong if I keep it simple. (Note that there are limited sit-in options for food in Bangor [unless you go for a full-on restaurant meal]). I went into the left side of the establishment for sitting in. I nearly slipped on a wet, slicky floor, with no warning signs. There was no staff nearby, so I managed to get the attention of one at the takeaway counter. The teenager made their way over to me. I said I'd like a chicken burger. I said 'How much.' They didn't know. They said they only take cash (this is an indication of the quality of the establishment). I was already beginning to regret my choice but soldiered on due to time pressure. Went into the rain to get cash. Came back and walked gingerly over their wet floor. Sat for 10 mins. No staff around so I went to takeaway counter and asked how much longer for my chicken burger. I was told 20 mins. I asked if I had ordered my chicken burger at the takeaway section in the first place, would it have been quicker. The teenager nodded. I had had enough of the place and walked out. The place is a shambles. I really don't like their attitude and I'm suspicious of their whole operating model and morals. I had picked up on worrying signs before - its stayed cash only, their food advertising board was always out-of-date with incorrect prices and I've been overcharged. I've taken the time to write this as I've had my fill with the place.

After making the mistake in our eating something in this kip, we got asked by a very nice young, (new start) waitress how the meal was, I explained, nicely, politely that the food was grim compared to previous visits. Portions of chips turned out to be a sprinkle of crispy ends, not proper chips. The chicken, OMG! chicken was cold and dry. Could not/would not eat it, but explained if we could get the bill, we will pay it fully and be on our way. Table next to us had 3 blokes and all eating different meals, these three men also listed various complaints. It was the 1st night for this poor wee waitress. I asked her again for our bill so as to pay and leave. As it was her 1st night, she felt the need to inform the cook about our complaint. I'd rather just pay and leave, please let inform the chef about you're not being best pleased. No love, we just want to head on. But off she went to voice our complaint. Out comes this grumpy wee man, this the "so called" cook. Where's the chicken? what's wrong with the chicken? and wanting to know who complained and again asks, where is the chicken? He wanted to see how much we ate of it. lol OMG! lol. The waitress told him she had just taken the dishes into kitchen and informed him it was barely touched. He grunted and walked off. I paid the bill in full and also tipped the waitress, telling her, the tip was for her only, turned out it was her 1st night, poor kid. But she had done her job perfectly. No apology came from the kitchen idiot or from any of the long-term staff. Only after we left did my friend inform me that she'd seen the chicken getting defrosted from frozen in micro then chucked into the DF fryer. Why didn't you speak up earlier I asked? I thought they must know what they're doing came the reply. lol This place has gone downhill so bad. Overpriced and dangerous to one's health. Never again!

Went with family for carryout food wasn't bad but very overpriced man who served us needs 2 learn some customer service skills very rude and abrupt won't be rushing back

Must have been bought over as the batter is now thick and stodgy and i think it may be partially cooked beforehand as it doesnt flake apart anymore , the Cod that is. Got the portion of scampi and tartar sauce today which was TO DIE FOR! So fresh and delicious I'd definitely recommend.

Wife & I today enjoyed delicious freshly battered Cod and chips. This is my favourite chip shop in Bangor and on the Ards Peninsula and the only criticism I have is on the portion size of chips - I wish it was bigger.Cant wait to visit again :-)

Called tonight for two fish supper meal deals apparently fish and chips were good asked for plenty of salt and vinegar as we were having them in the car we parked up to find no salt and vinegar but the worst part is £18.40 for two fish supper meals SHOCKING

I do not know what has went wrong here, this chippy was pretty good at one time, firstly they lost our order waited 45 minute's, how did they loose our order in a chippy, exactly, thats what i thought. The girl did give us free drinks to compensate, wife brings order home, missing a burger, rings up to complain, do want to come down and get it, yes ok was our reply, but wait until we eat our's first, our son was happy to wait on his burger, well it ended up that my daughter was the only person that ate her chicken nuggets, the cod suppers were rancid, im mean rancid, ive never in my puff seen a grey cod, cod is lovely white flakes, ahh even thinking about it,some of the chips where green, yes green, bizarre i know, very bad cafe cod, i dont normally do reviews but this was bad, i actually did like your stuff, but never again.

I was told by a friend to try cafe cod he said he got from it and he injoyed his don’t know weather he was winding me up , from my point it was the worst smelliest food I have ever had the chips smelt like they were burnt and the fish but when wee got home 3 minutes later to have are tea the chips were cold and smelt like they were burnt but no they were cold the fish you could not have eaten it really really bad will never be back and guess what Iphoned my friend who recommended me told him all he could do was say sorry I would stay clear

Popped in at around 7.20 this evening, Saturday night. What time do you close, 8.00 said the lady behind the counter. Great we said, just popping into the pub next door then will come back and order. Went back at 7.50 and the shutters were down.

Been to a few chippies in Ards n Bangor. This was my first time in Cafe Cod. Did not disappoint. Fish n chips was superb. will be back.

Can never fault this place. Food is excellent as always and staff are great craic. Was in with my Mrs and got takeaway this time. Place is always spotless.Fish Supper is the best around, and I recommend the mushy peas. Loyal Customer, will be back again.

This just sounds repitive but this is the 3rd time and final time I will be getting from Cafe Cod. I've had it with this grumpy and cheeky service. I come in a few times every few months and each time I come in I'm greeted by this scowl. I can't tell if she is management or not but each occasion I've visited I feel rushed when trying to think of my order. Persistently frowning or asking me what I'm having.

I and a friend visited this establishment to hopefully enjoy a meal sitting inside the premises, only to be greeted by a gruff young man looking very peeved, immediately telling us we're closing soon and "Sit there" pointing at a table beside another family already eating in the cafe. There were lots of other empty tables nearby and we did not wish to sit very close to another family when the whole cafe was otherwise empty, he said he'd cleaned the other tables. Well he was going to have to clean our table after we left anyway, or so I hope! We chose to sit in the vicinity of where he wanted us but not at the exact table. He maintained his miserable attitude, no smile or friendliness whatsoever, it was obvious he did not like his job and appeared not to care.We ordered our meal, in the meantime from where I was seated I could see into a utility area, the young disgruntled male was standing near the doorway to this entrance where I saw him lifting two rounds of bread from a loaf and proceeding to butter our bread in the palm of his bare hand. I did not see him wash his hands, he had been cleaning tables with a not so clean looking cloth. He did not look the tidiest and cleanest himself. No protective gloves on, had his hands been touching his face and hair and obviously he had been handling things! Absolutely disgusting! He then set our bread from buttering it on/in his bare hands to a plate and brought it out to us and set it down on the table with the same sour demeanour.I mentioned to him and not in an unpleasant manner, I said matter of factually that I saw him butter our bread in the palm of his bare hand. He set the bread down on our table, tutted, sighed, rolled his eyes and walked off briskly. No offer of freshly clean buttered bread or even an apology. He knew he had been caught on. Is this standard practice in Cafe Cod? How often does this occur that customers are unaware of?! Thankfully for us I witnessed this unhygienic behaviour. My heart could not warm to this place, particularly after witnessing such unhygienic practices combined with this man's most unpleasant attitude; we immediately left before our meal was ready, we could not stomach eating the food!! Unfortunately this review reads very similarly to other reviews posted here. Disappointed and disgusted. Will not be back.

Called in today for some lunch was our first time in this chippy I ordered a pastie bap and chip and my companion had a chicken fillet burger and chip. They have a cheek to call it a chicken fillet burger as it was a birdseye southern fried chicken that they had re battered!! Ridiculous!! Chips weren't even very nice either. Definitely wouldn't eat in here again it was a bit expensive for the cheap food they served!

Visited Cafe Cod with my partner and our 5 children ranging in age from 10 till 2. Upon entry a sign says wait to be seated...the young man who looked about 17 just looked at me when I asked where he wanted us then he said he didn't think he had anywhere for us...I told him it was no problem as I'd slide the 2 empty tables at the back together and proceeded to do so. There were still 4 empty tables available by my count after we sat down. Once seated, we received the menus and knives and forks and 2 other different sets of customers sat down at some of the free tables and immediately had their order taken while we still waited. At this point 1 of the kids dropped some of the knives and forks and when we asked could they be changed the staff member looked like he'd been asked the meaning of life, don't think there's a Braincell to spare there. I watched as the staff seemed to debate whether to wash the cutlery that fell or just put it back in tray, thankfully I think they decided to wash them. About 5 more minutes passed before I asked if we could place an order to which point Einstein replied there were other tables ahead of us....THIS WAS NOT THE CASE, they'd already taken the orders of the people who came in AFTER us and served 1 of them. He then proceeded to clear a dirty table very slowly as there was no one else to take an order from! We'd been there approx 20 mins and we're still waiting, needless to say it was time to leave as they just didn't seem to want to serve us.....I wouldn't give this place the business and I sure hope they don't rely on tips....couldn't say what the food is like...Do Not Go, the staff are shockingly bad !

Insulted to have been served such awful food. Chips were greasy and disgusting. Ordered fish to receive just batter. Handed my burger to be given my cheese to add myself! No toilet! And when we had mentioned about the food, a very rude young boy with tattoos replied with ‘‘did you want the food for free’’(we had already paid for the crap that was served to us!) what kind of business treats it’s customers with such disrespect! Bangor was let down by such a hole in the wall!

First of all staff were very rude to elderly people sitting behind us, my chicken goujons weren't battered and were defo frozen, like something from iceland yet you claim to be a "traditional " chip shop, it's not hard to batter a bit of chicken. Then my 3 year old was needing the toilet and I was told there wasn't one coz the guy serving us was too lazy and too engrossed in flirting with his girlfriend(while supposed to be working, very unprofessional) to even care about ANY customers, then it was near 30quid for kids meal and fish and frozen goujons and chips??? Absolute rip off, steer clear folks

Admittedly it was a busy day as the Bangor marina was full of veteran cars and motorcycles, hungry people were calling for fish and chips to eat in this cafe. The staff were less than pleasant to ourselves, giving us the impression we were an inconvenience. I spoke with the lady next table after they had ordered their meal, she confirmed that the male staff was also SHORT with them, we also heard them being unfriendly with customers visiting from the U.K. We asked for tartar sauce, only to be informed there would be a charge for this, suggesting we might not be able to pay for same. Male staff young have indeed a bad attitude !!!! We will not be back, nor will the others we spoke to.

Come into the take away usually once a week as a family treat the food is great but portions now getting smaller with receiving only 2 chips with a cod!! Not only are we getting smaller portions but the staff clearly are drained or tired and don’t look happy to be there. Obviously due to weather being so great everyone was swarming into Bangor but i was in on 28th June and was waiting ages for my food but was obviously busy so i could understand as the sit in had been closed so obviously they were understaffed but i found the treatment staff were receiving from what seemed to be either Management or supervision was appalling obviously need a team building exercise!! Hopefully improvement will happen as its only fish and chip shop in Bangor worth visiting!

I must say I wasn't expecting a lot. They have a small eat in and an attached carry out. What a surprise! Fish was large, crispy, not greasy, and perfectly done. Chips were typical. Then there was mushy peas, I heard other customers order it as a side and was curious. Not what you expect with fish and chips but they were good. This was first night we arrived in Ireland from the US and wanted a quick bite. Ended up coming back a couple more times. In three weeks traveling Northern Ireland and the Republic there fish was not matched.

We were a group of 10 wanting to have a meal after a lovely day with family from home and Australia. The young waiter was extremely rude from the start. He had a real attitude problem. When we asked if we could push some tables together he said, 'can you not just squeeze up, or are you going to take over the whole cafe?' At this stage there was only one other table taken and plenty of others free! It went downhill from there. I have to say we had no complaints about the food which was very good.

My husband and I called in to cafe cod a couple of weeks ago being in Bangor We always called in for a meal when the cafe was upstairs and loved the meal and the lovely girls that served us. Boy have things changed along with the cafe being downstairs.When we went in we were rudely told where to sit by a young guy who clearly didn't enjoy his job He took our order and I asked what soft drinks he had he pointed to a fridge at the back of the cafe and said there. Our meal arrived and I asked for a glass for my drink and I got one about five minutes later.As we were there a man came in alone and was told where to sit but he told the young guy he didn't want to sit where he was being put and sat at a table at the door The young guy said quite loudly that was ok but if 4 people came in he would have to move him. Needless to say the man got up and left.Really is cafe cod making so much money that the staff can talk to customers with this attitude.They have posters on the wall saying how their customers really matter What a joke I have read all of the reviews for cafe cod going back a couple of years and nothing has changed regarding customer service.Sorry but there's a lot of eating places in Bangor and I'll definitely be in another one and not Cafe Cod.

Went in yesterday - horrible wet Bank Holiday Monday. Rudest young man serving I have ever had the experience to meet. Actually attempted to call me a liar at one stage. Four young children and two wanted to use toilet. Told they didn't have toilet and use the pub next door. Not to happy to bring young children into pub but as raining thought it best. Pub large notice on door 'patrons only' Had then to go across busy road in pelting rain to find toilet. Came back and ordered meal. Worst meal I have ever eaten. Chips must have been cooked at least three times and it was obvious that the chicken had been pre-bought and it was simply a matter of heating up. Minute and tasteless. Had attempted to get the 'pensioner' special but told at 1.00 am that they did not have it. Thought strange sold out at this time but told don't normally have it. Don't go here if you want a nice meal.

Waited ages for a chip Guy beside me asked could they teplsve his can of drink in the fridge until served to keep it chilled. Rude server lady said no I am too busy. Unreal horrible service 1 star is too much

Ridiculous service refused entry to a child in a pram as the pram had to be folded down even thought the child required the oral. The manners off the young man serving in it was absolutely ridiculous. Really need to attend a course in customer service and general good manners. I would not ever attempt to get in here again as they are discriminatory against children in a peak. Awful

Ate here on a Wednesday evening. The fish and chips were outstanding as was the swift service. Inside the cafe was cold even though they had a heater on. Will definitely return. Wheelchair accessible.

Went in on impulse. I had a senior fish supper, my wife had chicken goujons with chips and a soft drink. The cod seemed to have been processed, coated and fried. No crispy batter. The chips were frozen or chilled, and then heated. Service was prompt and cheerful. Some heat in the building would be nice. Won't be back.

Visited here today with my hubby, son , daughter-in-law, grand-daughters aged 4 years and baby of 4 months. We couldn’t get seats outside so opened the door to enter the empty indoor seating area.

Asked about allergens (dairy) staff just said “I don’t know” and that was it they are useless! Had to leave and go somewhere else, this happened the two times that I called to ask!

14 people from our walking group traveled to Bangor from Dublin on Monday 25th June. We got off the train at Helens Bay and walked the 5 miles along the coast to Bangor. We stopped off for our lunch at Cafe Cod fish and chip restaurant. It was excellent and a surprise for us, they had a special rate for seniors of £5.80 for the fish and chips plus a drink.

We called in here one evening, only just making it in before closing so we were the only two customers, we both ordered fish suppers and on asking if they served any other diet lemonade other than coke which they didn’t I took a pot of tea for one while the OH opted for a cool drink, the cool drink arrived quickly but without a glass which the OH had to ask for, as it was almost closing when we arrived the coffee machine etc had been turned off so they had to boil a kettle for my tea which took only a few minutes, they call it a pot of tea for one , it certainly is there was no squeezing a second cup out of this wee pot! The fish and chips arrived soon after, the fish was a decent size but the chips arrived in one of those little metal pails which I think is just used to give you less chips, I could see from the off set that the batter on the fish was very oily so ate a few chip while giving the fish time to drain, what hot chips I got were ok but I did get quite a few which were boardering on cold not even warm, the fish was still very greasy when I started to eat it, the cod itself was nice but the greasy batter really let it down, I think some retraining on the part of the fryer wouldn’t go a miss, fish needs to rest and drain before serving but we really got the feeling they were trying to hurry us out, the young lady and chap that served us were courteous and pleasant but we also noticed that just after we left the take away also closed this was only around 8.20pm not the 9.30 pm as advertised on their website, after we came out we checked the website and read some of the reviews and I have to say there seemed to be more bad reviews than good, does the manager/owner of this establishment not read these or perhaps they don’t care , well maybe they should!.

We had fish and chips here,they were very good. A lovely light batter on the fish. Very nice staff who do a good job.

Although you can eat in, we chose to try the takeaway.

Ordered two meals for adults and a child's meal for a 2yr old. Child's meal was larger than the adults and the prices are steep for the small quantity of food served. Looked like one portion of chips divided between three. £17 spent and everyone's still hungry.

We were in Bangor for the weekend and came across this great little chippy.Staff were really friendly and the food was fantastic.Will definitely be back next time I'm in Bangor.

We sat in for lunch. That was our first mistake. Whilst service was decent and the food hot, out meals were greasy and the portion sizes were drastically smaller than you would get taking away. Further, my 2 year old daughter was presented with a single sausage and a handful of chips as a kids meal, costing £4. If I had bought a single sausage as a take away item, she would’ve got more chips. Long story short, we won’t be back; and I don’t recommend that anyone reading this ventures there either. Any other chippy is better.

We come here a couple of times a month on our way from work in Belfast to another event in Bangor. We have always found the food to be great, well cooked and the staff very friendly. I love it when they say 'Order On'. Don't know anywhere else that does that but i think it is fantastic. There is a sit in part of the cafe next door but it can be busy and that is a good sign in itself. Thank you to all who work there on Friday nights and feed us hungry travellers. We will be back as often as we can.

I nearly didn't go here due to the mixed reviews, just goes to show you can't always believe all you read!

Llegamos ya que era sólo de apertura, así que no hay colas, dieron pescado y patatas fritas x3 y dijo que volvería a sentarse afuera ya que era un día soleado. Cuando pedimos sal y vinagre, etc. nos dijeron que no lo fuera, la comida bastante mesas grasienta y sin servilletas. . El personal no era de lo más servicial, la comida estaba bien, no era de este mundo, pero comestible. .

Llamado esta noche después de un día fuera con los niños. Gran cola fuera lo que tomamos como una buena señal. Estábamos tan mal. Pronto nos dimos cuenta de que el servicio era tan lento que no tome mucho tiempo para una cola. El personal es extremadamente lento en los pedidos, también son extremadamente grosero. La comida tardó 50 minutos en aparecer, pescado y patatas fritas en grasa, Pollo goteo hamburguesas filete de pollo tenía la consistencia de reformado. Los clientes de chips pidiendo venia y mientras esperamos con paciencia y esperamos, cuando nos preguntamos por qué nuestro pedido estaba tomando tanto tiempo, la chica detrás de la que hasta growled había acabado de patatas fritas. Increíble.

Relación calidad-precio terrible, patatas fritas bañadas en grasa, 2 libras. 65 para una pequeña pena de conos chips & inútil, personal brusco. Ellos tienen un poster en irónicamente la pared diciendo gracias a los clientes por ser la cosa más importante en el lugar, sin embargo, no me hicieron sentir de esta manera!

Solía ser bueno, pero un tiempo desde que había sido por personal muy maleducado. Decidí darle otra ve como el pescado y las patatas fritas solía ser bueno. Pedí el bacalao y patatas fritas y las patatas fritas mientras estaban bien la pieza de bacalao era vergonzoso. Fue como barquillos y así fue como cartón cocidas. Claramente la freidora hubiera visto que era una pieza final pero era paletilla dispuestos a servir en el precio completo. Sin duda no volveremos a un lugar que no importa la calidad de la comida que sirve

Así como la buena ubicación cerca del puerto, la comida era excelente, con pescado y patatas fritas bien hecha de la consistencia correcta. Todo esto a un precio decente para un "Sit-in", y la comida era muy rápido el servicio. Sin duda comer aquí.

Cualquiera que sea el aceite que usan para freír profunda no es ideal, ya que sabe la comida de algo extraño. Nos sentimos enfermos como un cerdo y podría probar la salchicha maltratadas para días después. No es bueno, el respeto de su interior, evitar esto!

There must be no competition for a chip shop in Bangor or else this place would have been closed down long ago. The customer service was not a service but RUDE and BOTHERED, the owner must not know how their customers are being talked at or if they do they do not care. The food was bunched together, incredibly GREASY (even for a chip shop), so the service and the food left a bad taste in my mouth, did not enjoy a second of it. Never again!

Cant comment on the sit in, but we have been using the take out for years and what we really like about Cafe Cod, is that the fish is dipped in the batter then fried straight after you've ordered. Its not pre cooked and left under a bright light - its fresh and tasty. Chips are good and a fish supper with a carton of gravy is hard to beat. We think its the best chippy in Bangor.

Nice wee chip shop. Stopped in to eat lunch and to get out of the cold. Dining area is clean and welcoming, service was prompt and friendly. Ordered the cod and chips and an order of chicken and chips....not a scrap left on the table when we were through.We have eaten in plenty of chip shops....This is definitely one of the best. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable.We will certainly stip in here again.

great food especially if your a senior over 65 the meal deal is great and both in quality and quantity

In any chippy you'd expect chicken goujons to be dipped and battered as you order, not birds eye like chicken dippers. Buckets of chips are a nice touch, if you're a gastropub, but not a chippy. The worst was charging for a dip. Jeez! Charging for salt next?? Service was spot on, but feel ripped off and the owners heads are more battered that the goujons! Wouldn't be back.

I went here back in august... I had been before and really enjoyed it.. this time there was a girl served me and my partner who was so unbelievably rude.. didn't smile said (what yous want) walking off while we stillHadn't finished giving out order.. didn't listen to what we said got our order wrong and the table beside us.. iv never had service like it in my life ! And what made it even worse back in August I sent cafe cod a Facebook message explaining what had happened but also praising them as the fish was nice.. they read it and ignored my message never replied to me.. I let it slide but just came across the message again and thought that's actually so rude turned to trip advisor ! Awful customer service in every way!! Won't be back and will tell all my customer base not to bother !

Have had both take away and sit in at Cafe cod. Food always cooked to order. Fish & chips are always good and they do my favourite mushy peas!! Would also recommend their pasties.

One of the few chip shops that cooks your fish etc as you request even if that's more well done that some might like. Took my sister and her friend who were visiting from England and they loved the food and were delighted at the portion sizes. Highly Recommend.

Drive down from Belfast, not too many chippys you can sit in and enjoy. My bf ordered fish and chips and I had a pastime supper. Food was really good, and the batter on the pastie was so fresh and crispy. Only disappointment we ordered curry sauce and it was a lil runny, would've been much nicer thicker. Defo will be back

We visited on a busy Saturday evening, just after the town's Christmas switch on.The young waiter was very industrious, courteous and efficient but he was badly done by since management expected him to cope without any help. When I asked him, he said he'd been working flat out and alone since noon (it was then 7pm). The result was that we had a lengthy wait for food which was a bit better than average.I didn't mention it to my fellow diners, but I noticed that the pressures on the waiter meant that he served good, then cleared dirty dishes and cutlery to the clearing station before returning to serve more food - without ever washing his hands! Don't anybody blame the waiter - he was working flat out. I'll just have to think twice about a return visit.
